I love this place. Phenomenal sandwiches, sometimes a bit of sass from the owner - and I honestly mean that in the absolute best of ways, hes kickass and pours his heart into his business. It shows. Best sandwiches in town, and straight up some of the best wraps Ive ever had, period.

Everything I’ve ever gotten here has been delicious! Ingredients are very fresh and very high quality. I’ve had the super veggie wrap, jerk chicken wrap, chef salad and the amazing corn muffin. Service is great and line moves fast.

Super busy about 45 minutes before closing, I even heard the owner/manager telling his staff to lock the door before closing time. Seems odd to turn away business but who am I judge. Waited about 30 minutes to place order but at least my husband and I were smart, we ordered cold sandwiches which took them no time to make. The chicken salad was fantastic, bread was good too. I would probably plan ahead and order online if I ever go back, seems like they make good sandwiches but they cant keep up with demand. I saw one staff member restocking bottles in fridge while others were running around crazy.

Best sandwich my family has had. Full of flavors, that are balanced well. We got Newbury, Reubenette, Southwestern, and Chicken Salad and they were all top notch. I usually dont usually leave reviews, but Im leaving review here because my family felt the need to put in effort to leave good words for this place! Also, the port right by the shop makes an scenic eating place!

Hubby and I went on St Pattys day to Port City. It was pretty busy when we arrived at 12:30pm so we got right inline while we checked out the menu. Hubby got turkey bacon sandwich, my uncle got and Italian and I got the special of the day St Pattys day Bomb. It was absolutely amazing!!! It was grilled chopped corned beef and shredded cabbage carrots potatoes and turnips I subbed American cheese for the Swiss. So so good and the portions are huge!!! I will definitely be back!!

The quality of the food is excellent. I have loved every wrap and sandwich I have tried on the menu. My favorite right now is the teriyaki chicken wrap. It also has good portion sizes, and friendly and efficient service all done at a decent price.

I can’t say enough good things about Port City. I’ve been several times and have never been disappointed. My personal favorite is the chicken salad club on the braided roll. My fiancé got the meatball sub on the braided roll today and he gave it a 10/10, he’s Italian and VERY picky about meatballs and he couldn’t say enough good things. If you haven’t been to Port City you are missing out!

Fast, simple, healthy, and delicious!This is a great place to go to just grab a good, old-fashioned, fresh sandwich! The staff is nice, the menu is extensive but easy to choose from, and they have you in and out the door in less than five minutes if that is what you need. I always get turkey and cheddar in wheat with spicy mustard, but the veggie wrap and tuna salad are good too. Cute and simple and easy plus great parking!

Amazing sandwich selection (along with soups and salads), blazingly fast service, and really COVID conscious! We got the gyro wrap, buffalo chicken wrap, and turkey chili, and all were simply perfect, juicy, and flavorful. The chili has a great kick to it! Our order was complete within minutes. Theres no indoor seating because of COVID, which is the smartest move Ive seen a restaurant take, especially since they have enough customers already and are right next to a park you can eat in (no outdoor seating because theres no space). Id definitely be back!

First Id like to thank MB for showing me this place even exists.This place is amazing great variety of sandwiches and wraps that taste great for a low price. Food was prepared faster than the guy could take orders, never seen that happen before and thats no blow at the guy taking orders, the kitchen is just unbelievably quick.

This was absolutely one of the most disappointing and downright oddest experiences I’ve ever encountered at a sandwich shop. The disjointed, inexplicably cumbersome ordering process, the lack of ordinary sandwich shop amenities (side orders, holds on certain ingredients, substitutions on menu items), and the palpable level of disinterest in creating even satisfactory dining experiences for patrons was astounding.Here’s a good example: I asked the clerk(?) at the register for a side of home fries to go with my breakfast sandwich once our party figured out where and how to order. The clerk hemmed and hawed and turned to the cook, who was no more than four feet away, and asked if that was possible. The cook responded by grabbing a large prep container full of home fries, holding them up in the air, shaking them once or twice and then declaring that she couldn’t “do a side because [she] only ha[s] enough for one more Megawich”. This, mind you, was announced as they were closing the breakfast menu and switching over to lunch.It’s that kind of disregard for customer service that makes folks cross establishments off their lists. It goes without saying, then, that my list for eating establishments in Newburyport is now more refined after visiting Port City Sandwich Co. I suggest you also refine yours by crossing it off your list, too.

Ordered the Reuuben and the chicken parm to go, along with onion rings. The onions rings taste great, but the amount of grease in the bottom of the to go box was ridiculous.The Reuben tasted good, but the bottom slice of bread was a sloppy, soaked mess. I have had reubens before with both slices of bread firm. This is the first time a Reuben fell apart while eating because the bottom bread was mush. The chicken parm tastes good but again the sandwich is sloppy with everything oozing out of all sides of the hoagie roll.May try again, as there are no concerns about the quality of the ingredients, but for a sandwich shop to have mushy bread and overall sloppy sandwiches, is a bit disappointing.

I love Port City and tell everyone about it. Usually there for a breakfast wrap, but today was lunch. They had a March Special for St Paddy’s Day. It was a corn beef melt etc...Delicious 👍👍

Ive tried 2 different sandwiches here so far and wow. Amazing. My first was the ultimate grilled cheese. Texas toast with a gooey mess of cheese in the middle. Simple yet tasted amazing and filled me up. The second was a Cubano sandwich. Not regularly on the menu so I kept my eye out for it and I was not disappointed! Fresh meats and cheese...full of flavor! A must go if youre walking downtown Newburyport!

This place has some of the best wraps Ive ever had. Whenever Im in Newburyport/ Ipswich for a beach day I stop by here to grab lunch. My go tos are: Jamaican jerk chicken wrap, southwestern wrap and thai chicken wrap and the prices are great too. Stop by here and you wont regret.

Loved the chicken salad melt that I got. Bread was buttery and toasted just right, with cheddar cheese melted in to give that rich creamy flavor. The chicken salad was plentiful and tasty. I tried the chili too which was on the beanier side and had a really nice growing heat to it. The employees here are some of the friendliest I have ever met. Its a small place but there are benches nearby for when its nice outside. I would absolutely come back for lunch again.

Bottom line: great food, served quickly. Port City is our go-to in Newburyport. On our last visit, we took our daughter and grandkids (area residents) for sandwiches and drinks that we ate in the adjacent waterfront park. Owner Tyke smiled behind his mask when he recognized our daughter. He remembered the boys standard order - two grilled cheese on white. The adults ordered three amazing crab clubs (crabmeat mounded high on ciabatta with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and guacamole). Im amazed at critics of the food; we have never had a bad food experience at Port City. Tyke is all business when the place is busy, so I can see why some people might feel slighted that they didnt get the level of personal attention they feel they deserve. I can say if youre ever there in a rare quiet moment, youll find he is a cordial and caring person.

We had Port City Sandwich Catering yesterday for our graduation event and it was fantastic! Tyke delivered, set up, and left us with big, full, super fresh delicious sandwiches and the most amazing Potato Salad and Asian Noodle Salad! His food was a huge hit! Great food, healthy options, good atmosphere. Food is a tad pricey but the quality and freshness absolutely make up for it. Guy behind the counter made small talk with us between giving orders to his staff and made us feel welcome, he seemed like he knew what he was doing and him and the staff had good communication. A great place for soup, sandwich and salad to go. You can sit and eat there however its small. It has become very popular for the locals and visitors alike. You most likely will be in a line to order, but it is worth the wait.

Went here twice in one day. Nice folks, quick service and great sandwiches. First went in for breakfast when my wife was running a road race (I think I recall I ordered the Capt Bob which was amazing). When we needed a lunch spot after she was done this was the no brainer choice and we sat on the water nearby to enjoy our sandwiches.

Probably the best place for lunch (quick or otherwise) in town. If you go in during lunchtime, expect to wait in line because it gets busy immediately after noon (try to get there at 11:45!) but also expect that line to move. Rather quickly. This is the only shop Ive found to rival Figaros in Boston for good food fast.Theyre incredibly efficient, far beyond any of the places that rely on POS systems, and their food is probably the most consistent I have ever seen. I think they even weigh out portions of different ingredients - if you get meat expect to get a solid serving of it. And theyre as friendly as busy, efficient people should be - dont expect a 3 minute conversation about hows your day, just smiles and a few casual comments.And if you like spicy, get the Southwestern wrap.

Friendly staff and good sandwiches. A very busy place so expect to wait a while for the food. The grill and the dinning tables are enclosed in the same space so the air quality was very poor. The best option is to grab the food and eat outside.

This was rated the number one sandwich/lunch place in Newburyport when I googled this topic. However, we ordered the Californian and it was just a regular if not sub par wrap. It was okay. The owner was working and seemed to be very friendly and to care about his customers.

We were in town for a day and found this gem. They have the best sandwiches and funny friendly staff. They represent the area well!

Quick service, great selection of sandwiches, etc. Expect to pay for parking. Also this place gets busy fast, so expect a wait on a Friday at noon!

Just had my first experience with Port City and I will be sure to return. The staff was accomodating for our large order for an office meeting. The order was exactly as placed and the food was delicious. What a great find.

The person behind the counter was yelling and unfriendly to most of the people in the staff and the customers. Three of our party had the chicken salad and each of us got food sickness later that day. Try one of the other shops in town, there are plenty of great ones!
