Lost a fin on a dive and they helped me get the right fin for me. Friendly and informative. I walked out with a better fin than I was originally looking at. Went out later that day and was very happy with the performance of the fin they sold me. Decent price too, better or similar to what the big retailers offer; hence BUY LOCAL! I would come back here.

Before I walked into Beach Cities Scuba, I thought that I would find a small and poorly stocked store BUT I was pleasantly surprised to find the BEST of the BEST in this store. I found everything I needed to purchase (mask, snorkel, fins, blunt-nose knife, ....etc.) for my overseas diving trip. Most important to me was the expert advice I received from Greg; who besides being an experienced diver, is also a very honest man. I returned after two hours with my spouse to update her gear too. Highly recommend this outfit to anybody who dives or wants to learn scuba dive, spearfish, and free-dive.
Easy to find, very helpful and lots of inventory. Even have a pool to try out your gear.
The store could be falling at the hinges and I would still come solely because of the quality of the staff. mike is the most helpful and one of the most knowledgeable guys I have met in the business. Prices could be a little cheaper but they have to pay for the location somehow, and you would spend that money on gas and time to reach any alternative shops that are even remotely in the same weight class as this.
I just wanted to take the time to drop a note about this place. I am just starting out again and needed to gear up. The manager was great and spent a great deal of time with me going over all the details of items and the pros and cons of each selection. I never felt like I was being pressured to buy more than what I really needed. I did by a few items that are the top of the line but felt that it would be a one time investment instead of getting a low end item then realizing I need something more and end up paying for the low end item and then the high end item. All high end items will be with me for the next 5 to 10 years anyway.If your looking for a great shop with great people, take the time to drop by.
We finished our OW certification at Shaws Cove. Max, our instructor, was fantastic. Whole shop crew were great. 🤙
I have to be honest. This store is one of the best out there. Its conveniently located, has an excellent store manager thats helpful and not OC like other stores in the area. Hands down one of the best dive shops around.
Dont waste your time with these guys!! I went in a few days ago to get a quote on four full dive set ups for a local large yacht I work on and was told I would have a quote later that day..... Three days later (Today) I am next door having sushi so I stop in to ask how the quote is coming along and theres a different guy behind the counter, I explain to him that I was in there a few days ago talking to one of his colleagues and he was getting me a quote for four full kits, everything from head to toe, including; wetsuits, dive computers, masks, tanks, weights, the lot! I explained that I was told I was going to be sent a email later that day and I had not received it... He then rudely said he wanted me to tell me what is was Im looking for and I replied do I really have to go through everything again? (as I had already spent close to a hour discussing this with the last guy) he then fired right up at me and said as if I was stupid well how should he know what Im talking about if I dont tell him what brands and so on. I stopped right there and said theres no need to be rude I got a blasting at this point and I said thats fine I would take my business else where, plus reminded him that I was ready to drop thousands into all this dive gear and thats not the way to treat his customers! he was even swearing at me on the way out the door telling me to F$%K O$$.I really dont know if this was the owner or just a employee but I have never dealt with such rude service and was disgusted with the way I was treated!! Any ways I dont write many reviews but I thought I outta share this one! I would not recommend going here at all and will be sharing my story with the whole yachting community that either reside here close by like myself or that pass through looking for dive gear!!

Update: After 1 year they reached out to return the amount I paid for the books.I WOULD NEVER TRUST BEACH CITIES SCUBA to guide me in a diving trip!!!!!So, I am taking the time to write a review because I dont wish anybody to have the same treatment as I had. I went to beach scuba cities in Huntington Beach Feb, 9, 2018 to validate my groupon for OPEN WATER DIVING COURSE and collect my material and had a really bad experience both times.The shop was was smelling very bad and customer service was horrible.They didnt explained I had to study on my own to attend to the course and I could not join the class.I was really trying to be patient so I could attend to the course as I am going to Australia in a couple of weeks but Mike was just so rude and inpatient that I refuse to go back to that place again.Not mentioning that I took the weekend off to do the course and now I dont have work on the weekend. So not only the cost of the material that they didnt refunded me I now dont have any work scheduled for the weekend.Also, they left me on hold three times when I tried calling to ask information a couple of weeks ago.I requested my refund from Groupon and they were very efficient providing me a credit for it. I received a apologizing letter from groupon in regards of the bad experience.UNFORTUNATELY again I requested a refund for the material that I had to pay (U$128,20) for the course but Mike REFUSED to reimburse me for the material.I am not sure if they are not handling the amount of customers but it is unacceptable to mistreat customers this way.I understand everyone has a different experience in each place but I just thought it was important to share this really BAD experience I had. I hope they improve customer service sometime soon.
