Took my log splitter in to have the ram seals replaced. Told the owner (?) that I didnt want to pay more to repair it than it would to buy a new ram. He said hed take a look at it said it would be ready in 7-10 days. Three weeks later and after calling him several times, he calls me to tell me its fixed. Total bill? $1,200!! A new ram would cost at most $450, which I told him. He said the repair guy had 12 hours of labor in the job, but the owner made a comment that he must not have had much to do. So because he wasnt very busy hed just jack up his labor time and rip me off?? We ended up agreeing to the job costing $500, but only because I had put a new motor on it earlier this year. When I picked it up he said they only work on log splitters as a service to the community. What garbage. When you provide a service, youre doing so to help, not to rip people off. Bottom line - if you have small hydraulic work that needs to be done, look elsewhere.
