I enjoyed my piano buying experience at M. Steinert in Newton. Jon Yourtee gave me lots of useful information without being overwhelming, showed me several pianos I might like, and never pressured me toward a purchase. He was just as patient the third time I came back to play the same piano as he was the first, and he took care of all delivery details including a last-minute quarantine issue. All used pianos were in excellent condition, and Steinerts one-customer-at-a-time protocol helped me feel safe during the pandemic.

Purchasing a great piano is a difficult task. Each Steinway piano is a hand made instrument – each one is unique! With this recent pandemic, it has been difficult to travel to different dealerships and rebuilders to “test drive” these pianos. Thus, it has become a necessity to work with not only a salesperson, but with someone that is a true musician and has the experience to discern each piano’s personality. Patrick Elisha at M. 1 year ago I returned to studying piano after many decades. Recently I decided to upgrade to a Steinway small grand. I took myself to Steinert and started playing pianos, both new and used. I finally settled on an older M at the South Boston location. During the search for my piano I met many members of the Steinert staff. Each one was accommodating and helpful, spending time with me in order to learn what I was looking for. And patiently teaching me some history and basically of Steinway construction, as well as regulation, voicing and maintenance. Moving my piano home was also a wonderful experience. My sales consultant was present and the movers worked so well together and seemed to love what they were doing. They were in no hurry and made sure my piano was in exactly the right place. When I began this search I had expected to find a piano with Steinway tone and touch. What I had not expected was that I would so enjoy the Steinert staff and the experience of finding my piano.

We stumbled upon this place while driving around Boston today and decided to take a visit. I played the piano growing up, but stopped when I went to college, and re-discovered my love for it recently, and this store was a great find! The new technology where you’re able to plug in headphones and not create any sound for others is amazing! Len was great in explaining the different types of Steinway and Boston pianos, and will definitely be buying my piano from him/here when I’m ready!

First class service from Len in helping me rent a piano. Thought getting a piano would be very a complicated process, but the office was quite flexible and provided me several options. Len was very patient working out a most suitable solution for me. The Essex I got was brand new and great value. Definitely enjoyed the whole experience!

He was knowledgeable and really went out of his way to not only make the piano available as quickly as possible but given the circumstance with COVID-19, he personally delivered the piano and helped us assemble it via a video call! *Updated review*We (my family) walked into the store and asked if we could try some pianos.The salesperson said:Theres a recital going onWe said Oh, there is?(we though it was just some music in the background)He said: Can you not hear?We were a bit surprised by that response.Strike OneWe were told that we could only try pianos if we were looking to buy, because there was a recital, and I guess money is more important than customer experience to this employee.Although I understand that you value your recitals, please train your employees properly, he could have given us a time to come back, but instead said:I cant let you try them unless youre looking to buyStrike Two.Also, make sure they actually know something about pianos before saying theres no such thing as a hybrid piano with full grand piano action (because there is. Yamaha N1X, N2, N3)Incompetence, strike three.I am very disappointed in the salesperson that ruined our experience. I truly have nothing against this company, only that one horrible salesperson. This goes to show that one person can ruin the reputation of a whole company.

The adult piano lessons at the Steinert Piano Academy are both well-run and well-taught. The classes are low pressure, but also at the same time are based on pieces that are fun to play and frequently recognizable as a popular tune. The group lessons make for a supportive and welcoming environment, and any adult thinking of learning piano should give the Steinert Academy a try.

The piano consultant Len Giatas did great job making this place hospitable when we just walked in to look around. With great explanation on the pianos there and brief history of the building I was able to enjoy M. Steinert & Sons to the fullest. They have amazing gorgeous pianos that are combined with new technology. It was a very pleasant experience.

I recently stopped by Steinert & Sons to price out a few different options. Upon entering the beautiful showroom, I was greeted by the diligent expertise of Len Giatas. Not only did Len take the time to explain the history of the business, the building, and the beautiful pianos, but Len walked me through the showroom for 40 minutes - all while knowing i was not there to purchase.Moving forward, I feel comfortable to stop by at any moment to run questions by Len, and when the time comes -- there is no other place to purchase a piano.

We visited the M. Steinert & Sons showroom recently on a trip to Boston. We were warmly received and welcomed by Helen Meng, who not only showed us around and allowed us to admire the beautiful instruments, but also invited us back to a concert the following day. The customer service at M. Steinert is phenomenal! While surfing the website one night, I saw a chat feature, so I used it to pose a question about a piano bench I was seeking. Even though it was after hours, and this was not a big ticket item, I received an immediate reply via text. Jon proceeded to help identify some good options that fit my budget. His colleague Brandon welcomed me to the store the next day and knew exactly what I had come in to see. Their pre-gaming helped make my shopping experience so efficient!

Customer service was good. They are willing to make deals to accommodate you. Even though I didnt buy anything they were still very nice.

My wife and I just purchased a Roland HP605 from the Natick store, We were helped by Vivian Handis. We were first helped on the phone and we were shopping around (including online), but Vivian agreed to make a special trip from her Boston store to Natick that same night to meet with us. We came in and Vivian gave us exceptional customer service from the moment we arrived. She was extremely knowledgeable about the pianos and explained all of the pros and cons. I originally had planned to get a price and continue shopping around to compare (and possibly buy online), but after working with Vivian we decided to buy one on the spot. Fast forward a week and the piano was delivered Dead on Delivery. It did not play. The delivery guys were extremely nice and helpful and Vivian and her boss got engaged. Vivian put as at ease and arranged for a tech to come out that same night. After the tech found it was not working, Vivian arranged for a new piano delivery that very next day. It was delivered without incident. Through the time when we stepped in the store till now, Vivian was extremely communicative, helpful, responsive. She also sent a very thoughtful gift basket with an apology. This experience completely justified our reason for shopping with your company and not elsewhere (including online). If there is a salesperson of the year award, Vivian should win it. It was a true pleasure working with M. Steinert & Sons and Vivian and I would highly recommend it to anyone who may be looking.

Had a great first visit the other day. Salesman was knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and no pressure. Looking forward to the rest of the process.This location does not show any refurbished pianos; only the Boston location has those. Hours are 10-8 M-S and 10-6 on Sundays, so substantially more convenient hours than the Boston location also.They offer Roland digital pianos and several brands of acoustic pianos: Steinway & Sons, Boston, Essex, and Knabe.

Brandon is my fams piano guy. My son is growing more serious and we visited the store; he wanted to see, feel and touch real pianos and through the patience and passion Brandon showed, we ended up with a Roland FP-30; which my son now plays in his room all the time, when he i done playing downstairs. Had Brandon dismissed us because we werent ready to buy a Steinway, wed have never found this awesome keyboard. Because we found this keyboard, someday Ben will have a Steinway. When he does, Brandon will get that call. Likely, with how he does his job, and sees his role, he will still be in the business. 5 stars total recommendation.

I am not surprised to see so many great reviews here. This is an outstanding authorized Steinway & Sons dealership with excellent service from start to finish. I purchased a new festival Model K-52 upright piano from M. Steinert and Sons during their May 2019 150th Anniversary Sale. A festival piano, as was previously disclosed to me, is a new piano that for one season prior to being sold, is used at one of the local summer music festivals. In my case, it was from the Tanglewood summer music festival . These pianos are basically brand new with a few cosmetic marks due to festival usage and from being moved around. Because of this reason, I ended up purchasing my Model K-52 at an incredible price! But these lovely people went WAY ABOVE AND BEYOND and made sure my piano was as beautiful as possible before delivering it to my house in NH! WHAT?!? AWESOME! oh, but then it gets better..A few days later, a cosmetic surface issue appeared that was previously unnoticed by myself or the dealer. I sent a pic to Steinert’s, not really expecting much more than a recommendation on who to use to fix it. They looked at the pic I sent and then called me to let me know they are sending their Steinway approved case repair person to my house to completely address this issue. I am blown away! The piano is magnificent and the service I have received and witnessed is beyond comparison. If you are in the market for a Steinway, Boston, Essex, or Roland digital piano, do NOT miss the opportunity to buy from M. Steinert & Sons. Let alone getting into the fact that Steinerts history, as well as the many decades of the Murphy family’s wonderful ownership is as rich as the history of Steinway & Sons themselves, having represented the product line since almost the very beginning in 1869.
