Today I went to Bay Old Dominion for a state inspection. I’d heard good reports about them and decided to give them a try.I’m so glad I did!The inspection was completed in a little over an hour after I brought it in at 8 AM. That included installing new wiper blades (at no additional charge) that I’d bought elsewhere but hadn’t yet installed.E.T., the service manager, was extremely helpful, professional and courteous. After seeing him in action, I felt confident that he knew what he was doing and my car was in good hands!The waiting room in the new service center is clean and comfortable, and—a perk for animal lovers—across the street in a tall cell tower is an osprey nest, something I never expected to see in the city.I’ll definitely return to Bay for future service, no doubt about it! These guys are amazing and super friendly. I work a graveyard shift and was tired as one can be the day I came for an inspection. Long story short they really looked out for me that day got me in an out when they were clearly busy. Even let me take a nap in there waiting area.

Sabrina and E.T. were very helpful. They got me in quickly. Another area car shop had told me I would need my brakes done soon, so I brought my car in for an oil change. They assessed the brakes and gave me great detail on why I did not need the brakes done, including exact measurements and a time frame of when they would need done down the road. I greatly appreciated their honesty and the fact that instead of taking advantage of me, they educated me on why the service was not needed and when I could expect to have to do it. Thank you for all your help!

I had my car towed here and they told me after two days they couldnt figure out what was wrong, that I needed to take it some place that did electrical. They were too short staffed to look at it again until 1-2 weeks later. On top of this I had an appointment scheduled before it broke down and when I called to let them know it broke down I was never told they wouldnt have time to look it. They said they did have time to look at it and that it was an electrical issue so I had to pay to tow it AGAIN and the next place called two hours later it was the alternation. NOT ELECTRICAL Are you kidding me?? The number one issue for a drained battery that they knew was brand new. I had it back the following day, fixed. If your time is worth anything dont waste it here.

I ended up taking my 2011 Ford Fusion to Bay Old Dominion Service & Collision Center for a state inspection due to another place being closed. It was close and convenient to where I live so I thought why not. However, I found out later on that afternoon that my brakes were not connecting enough to have it pass the state inspection. I needed new brake pads. Also, my front corner marker light was out. E.T. called me with the bad news. Its not a fun day when you find out you have to spend $400 plus on brakes when you just thought you needed a $20 inspection. However, E.T. was very accommodating with explaining the problem and helping out with discounting the price a bit. And when he found out that the problem was not with the bulb but actually the socket, he didnt charge anything extra. E.T. and Bay are knowledgeable, expedient and have great customer service. I highly recommend taking your vehicle there. You can trust them.

My vehicle was hit while parked on the street and I elected to go to Bay Old Dominion for repairs instead of the chain the insurance recommended because of the good reviews I read. They replaced the drivers side door and front bumper, but I continued to have problems with the corner of the front bumper popping out of the drivers side. I went back multiple times and they looked at it and fixed it each time. The last time I went the paint was then scratched on that corner but the corner was back in so I decided to just leave it and not pursue it further.Well now that the passenger side corner has come off I understand the problem - **they glued the bumper onto my car**. Apparently an aftermarket bumper was used that did not have the same brackets as my car, so the fix was to glue it on instead of replace it with the correct bumper.Needless to say Im frustrated, especially since I brought it back multiple times asking them to look at it. I would have preferred for them to admit that they ordered the wrong part and fix it than to keep trying to put a bandaid on the problem and not tell me what was wrong. I feel like I got tricked by good front office staff and customer service when ultimately the quality of the work was poor.

You can trust this Team. They squeezed me in on VERY short notice which was tremendously helpful...knocked out my oil change, tire rotation w/ 2 new tires and a new state inspection. Office staff was very friendly and communicative. Ill definitely be back.

Ive been here before and decided to get an estimate to get my motor mounts replaced - best decision ever! Both the people who take my information and the mechanics are amazing. I was able to talk to the mechanic myself and he answered my questions honestly and with precision. my car runs so much better and I feel great leaving my car with them. They showed me the old broken parts to reassure me. Everything was amazing and I couldnt have asked for a better experience. I will definitely be coming back with any issues I might have!Again, the receptionist, managers and mechanics are honestly what make this place as amazing as it is (:

I moved here from CA and was unfamiliar with the VA safety inspection. I went to another place first and they were full until the next afternoon, at WALK IN ONLY. I then called this shop, Bay Old Dominion and spoke with the scheduler who was very nice and fit me in for an appointment in a few days.I dropped off my car with ET and Sabrina. Both very nice. They made sure my car was done fast. I expected to wait until 3-5pm but it was done and ready by 1pm! Wow! I was super happy about that.My car checked out well and gave me the reassurance that this place is super trustworthy. A lot of places will just simply tell you something is wrong when it’s not and try to “get you,” but this place does not do that! Rest assured that your called with be in good hands here. :)

ET and Staff are absolutely awesome! Went in for a state inspection and let them know upon drop off about an issue I was concerned about - the inspector gave it a preliminary check to let me know if I was wasting my time getting an inspection. Great, friendly staff. Also take reservations for inspections which is a huge plus! Will absolutely be back.

I have an older vehicle that had several issues. I just brought it in without and appointment they worked me in and addressed all of the issues with the vehicle it now runs as good as newI agree with the other reviews that address the professionalism of ET and the staff they spent time discussing the issues with me and then called to let me know the plan and the cost. Best auto shop Ive ever been too. Replaced my leaking coolant elbows when other shops wouldnt touch the work. Right price and quick repairs. On top of that, E.T. and the crew held onto my car when I had to leave town suddenly on a family emergency. Fantastic place and fantastic people.

Great service! Went in for an overall inspection of my vehicle prior to placing it up for sale. I got all my questions answered, and quoted for repairs that were needed prior to my sale. They work diligently and are quick to reach out to customers for updates. I worked with ET for the services being done and he was kind, honest and very customer oriented!

This is hands down the only place you should take your vehicle for repairs. They replace my transmission went above and beyond what they were paid to do. They got the extra mile for you, they quoted me the lowest price I found around town and stuck with it even though there was extra work involved I would give them 10 Stars if I could, this was my second time dealing with them and I will always take my car back to them now, they are honest, fairly priced, and do outstanding work. **Updated review, this week I took the same car as a below into Bay Old because the dealership said we needed a lot more work done on our car (it is over 100,000 miles and I figured we may need to). The dealership quoted us around $700 worth of additional work. I took it to Bay Old and, for a more than reasonable amount, Bay Old really took a look at what we were told we needed. And, of course, after actually looking at our car and inspecting the possible areas that needed to be addressed...NONE of them are in need of service right now. My husband and I will only be bringing our cars here from now on. They are honest, patient, and very detailed in their work and explanations. Thank you Bay Old!!Shout out to ET for being so kind and helpful with us every step of the way.I just called to speak with someone about getting a new tire put on my car. The woman and gentlemen I spoke with were both so kind and considerate even though they were unable to help my situation due to time constraints on my part. Found this place online with good reviews so I thought I would give it a shot. Went in for my inspection and dropped off my truck. Got a call back a few hours later and clean bill of health. Really professional and nice staff. The guy with the beard was really nice and broke down everything and asked if I had any questions. The only thing that stinks is that I have a lifted truck so they can’t do any work on my truck without a special lift. Sucks because I’d definitely come back if I needed any work done if they did. Would definitely recommend.

We are new to VA and in the process of getting our DLs and tags, we had to get our cars inspected. The process was easy and we were made aware of things that would prevent the cars from passing next years inspection. There was no high pressure sell to get it fixed now and we will keep going back for other repairs as needed. I had the same mechanic in Austin for 30 years and like giving my business to local folks. We will continue to use Bay Old Dominion! Great customer service, super easy to work with and loved the fact they are paying attention to Covid and making great decisions for all of us and our health!

This was my first time using a local shop since I moved down here. It came highly recommended by neighbors and I had a good experience! I made an appointment with COVID restrictions being as they are. I went in for a standard oil change, but my battery was dead when I went to leave for my appointment. Luckily, someone jumped my car and I was able to get it serviced (they honored my appointment even though I was late). They provided options for battery replacement and I chose their in-shop option. The customer service was great and even though I had to fork over extra money for the battery, it was a seamless interaction! Ill definitely be going back in the future.

Basically, because of the pandemic I stopped driving my car. This lead to my car not functioning properly. ET + crew took care of what they could, and when the grand total of what was wrong came, I decided to not fix my 15 year old car that had over 150k miles. ET suggested I donate it to the Vietnam Vets and so i did! I was very pleased with their service and price. I was also happy they were able to squeeze me into the schedule on such short notice. I have recommended this business to friends and family.

Stopped by on a Wednesday to see if they had any inspection openings. they said it was full for the day but they said theyd see what they could do so I left it hoping they would get to it the next day. Got a call later the same day and it was done. Good service. No attempts to sell me anything I didnt need. Would recommend.

Ive been to Bay Old Dominion Service four or five times now and my experience has always been stellar. Everyone Ive dealt with has always been kind, courteous and extremely helpful. As long as I live in this area, this is where Ill take all of my car-related needs.

I recently got hit by a deer while driving to Pennsylvania and when I got back to Virginia (minimal damage for what a deer COULD have done to my car) I brought my car here. I found them just by doing some Google searches and the majority of the reviews seemed very good. When I arrived everything was very professional and the staff treated me very well. They heard my story, told me what theyd do to fix it, and gave me a date for when I should expect an update on my car. All well and good but a week comes and they say it should be ready on Monday (and its a friday) so ok sounds good. Then the part they ordered came in broken so it was gonna take longer. After that the mirror showed up broken so it was gonna take longer. The wrong part was delivered. One of the parts showed up the wrong color. Just to name a few things. Over 2 weeks later I have my car back. If I wouldve known it might take 2 weeks or more to repair everything I wouldve gotten a rental no biggie. However a week is different from 16 days. Im still giving a 4 star review cause the work was good and every time I called they were very polite. Despite the fact I called to pick up my car right before they closed (I work nights) they had my car outside and ready for pick up about an hour before I had to head to work. I was peeved but it was good work and Im thankful.

Their staff is incredibly friendly and kind, but that only goes so far. What truly sets the Bay Old Dominion folks apart is theyre knowledgeable and affordable. They do the job right the first time for a reasonable price. For what more could one ask!?!

I’ve worked on cars all my life and like to do my own maintenance but still have to occasionally dish out for a professional. I’ve lived in Norfolk for the past 3 years and have been to at least 4 different auto shops for various work. It’s always the same feeling walking into a new place, wondering if they’re going to be earnest and charge a fair price. ET and everyone at Bay Old Dominion are hands down the finest team in all of Tidewater.I dropped off my Altima to have a lower control arm swapped out & a state inspection. They let me supply my own salvage parts, which was a big plus and helped me save a few bucks. I also ended up being charged LESS than I was originally quoted, which I already thought was a fair price to begin with! I expected to leave it overnight as I dropped it off only a few hours before closing, but they managed to have the work done within 2 hours the same day. Likely the exception rather than rule for that kind of turnaround since I imagine these guys stay plenty busy but nonetheless I couldn’t be happier with the work and the value. 10/10.

I’ve gone here twice for my annual inspection. E.T. gets me scheduled within a few days of my need. They are very kind, and timely! This year I needed exhaust work in order to pass. I don’t know mechanics in the area and E.T. referred me to another excellent business to get the work done right. E.T. was then able to squeeze me in 2 days later for a reinspection. I think this shop is very customer centered. Seems they realize people need their vehicles and they do the best to make sure you’re back on the road.

I visited Bay Old Dominion a few months ago with my car inspection and repair. The staff was so helpful with giving the various options that fit both my immediate needs and my financial restrictions. During these uncertain economic times, these values and understanding is not only greatly appreciated but also shows they care about the community.

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! These guys are great. E.T. and Jay were very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. They took the time to talk with me about the issue with my vehicle and they explained to me what they would be doing to fix it. When I first took my vehicle in that morning, they said it probably wouldnt be ready until the next day because they were all booked up, but then they called me that same afternoon to tell me it was already ready for me to pick up. The price that they quoted me to begin with, before the work started was very fair and reasonable and I was happy with that. The actual price that I paid once they had finished the work was significantly LESS than the initial quote! Its clear that they value their customers and they really do everything they can to take good care of them. Outstanding customer service unlike any other shop that Ive been to. Of course I hope I dont need much work done on my vehicle in the future, but if/when I do, this will be my go-to shop for sure, and I would recommend them to anybody.

Very honest repair shop. Went in for a cylinder misfire and longstanding loose steering problems. They COULD have sold me a new rack and pinion for over a grand easily. They COULD have found my misfire was a compression issue and said I needed a huge engine job. They COULD have fastened the two bolts and told me it was the whole repair and charged me according to that. INSTEAD they revealed that my spark plugs all had about double the clearance they should have and that my steering wasnt a bad rack and pinion but instead a mounting issue with it. They also looked over the whole car for impending issues or soon to be inspection issues. In the end I got my steering fixed, new spark plugs and wires, and new rear brake pads ALL for less than many shops probably wouldve charged me for an unnecessary rack and pinion replacement alone. HIGHLY recommend. Furthermore on inspection of my car later I found that a lug nut that was missing because I was previously told the bolt got stripped or damaged was replaced with a shiny new lug nut. Apparently the bolt was actually good enough to convinced to accept a nut and they did it without even mentioning it. These guys deserve your business.

I’ve been taking my car to Bay Old Dominion for the last few years and they’re always there to offer top-quality service! I’ve purchased a full set of tires, had flats repaired, and get my annual inspection done here. My most recent visit was due to a nail in my tire and they were able to fit me in on a Saturday morning and had it fixed and ready to go within a few hours. ET is always friendly, honest, and there to provide details and advice about my car service. I can’t recommend this place enough!

Thank you thank you thank you Bay Old Dominion for saving me thousands of dollars! I initially went in for a second opinion on a car inspection because I felt another place totally screwed me over and wanted to charge me for something I didnt think needed fixing in the first place. Not only did ET and his team see me RIGHT away, but they showed me firsthand that my car was totally fine and didnt need the stuff the other place was charging me. This shop not only kept me up to date on everything that was happening with my car, but they also took pictures and videos of how the brakes were broken. They were very honest and very friendly, and the price of labor was very affordable. The price was actually 20 dollars cheaper than what they quoted me, which was a pleasant surprise.
