I never post reviews but this was the worst experience I have ever had at any level, with any business, in my life. I do NOT recommend any future clients or customers consider renting from Digital Lens Rental, ever. I rented a lens via their online system, to the Norfolk store. They completely ruined a wedding event that I had and barely offered a refund. This is what happened:I called the morning of Oct. 23rd, a few minutes after they open, because according to Google Business they are open Saturdays at 10am. I called the NORFOLK number. The first message you hear is that they are only open on MONDAYS to FRIDAYS. I was in initial shock, since it was a Saturday and my event was that day. I pressed 1 for Customer Service. The phone rang several times and nobody picked up. My heart was racing. The voicemail comes on and a different persons voice repeats that they are ONLY OPEN ON WEEKDAYS. I called again several times throughout the day, hoping somebody would pick up. I also left a voicemail with my information.Next, I decided to check their website again. The website says they are ONLY OPEN WEEKDAYS under their FAQ. This is all as of 10/25/21 in case they change it. So, I tried emailing under their Contact form. No answer to this day, Monday.I called this morning, 10/25, to explain the situation, hoping for a refund and some sort of a credit to make amends. This is what I was told by the Richmond manager:1. When you call the Norfolk store, it actually goes to Richmonds office. Thats why NOBODY was picking up in Norfolk, although they were open but Richmond was not.2. They dont check their voicemails on weekends, go figure. It wouldnt have mattered, because the VMs go to Richmonds office.3. They also dont check emails on weekends, but also not on Mondays apparently because nobody responded to me, I had to call them.4. The Richmond manager, Emily, did not even realize that the FAQ on the Norfolk website says they are only open on Weekdays.5. She said they only check Facebook and Instagram messages since they get those alerts on their phones SMH but not email alerts?She offered me a credit for a future date OR a refund. I told her that I would like to have both, please, for the obvious inconvenience. She said they could only do one, so I chose for a refund. I also explained that I would be leaving a negative review, detailing my experience. I am a business owner myself and this was the worst customer service experience I have ever had. DO NOT RENT ANYTHING FROM HERE.

This place has saved me! I recommend all those who create and shoot to come here especially if you have a big project that youre preparing for! They have most of the items that we need to put together films and videos! A must stop shop for content creators!

The best camera gear rental store in Virginia! The staff is friendly and helpful and always willing to accommodate whatever needs or questions you may have. The rental process is super easy and pick up and drop off is very quick.

Amazing company! The owner and staff are all extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and renting gear is so easy through them. Their gear has always been in great shape and well taken care of when I’ve rented through them.I completely missed my drop off day for a lens I was renting, and they went above and beyond to quickly respond and work with me when I realized my mistake, and never once made me feel bad about it. Best customer service experience I have had in a long time.

I found Digital Lens Rental while searching for a local camera shop in Hampton roads and was curious to see what the store was like. I was apprehensive after reading another review which stated they were rude and drastically overpriced. I braced myself for that and was immediately surprised at how friendly and welcoming they were! They were all for me trying the lens out in the building before renting just to make sure it was what I wanted to try out for the weekend, not only that they had great recommendations on the best uses for the lens, why they would or would not use it etc. They even went as far as best practice to grow my business.Overall as someone who is stepping into the world of full frame cameras I would strongly encourage checking this shop out.I rented a Nikon 14-24mm for 62$ after tax for the weekend. Very reasonable to get a full demo of an 1800$ camera lens.

Working with Digital Lens Rental has been awesome since day one! I found out about this locally run photography gear rental business about a year ago and I have only had awesome gear, awesome guidance and tips, and just an all out awesome experience! They will always have a loyal customer with the Prices and I will continue to tell everyone I know about Digital Lens Rental! If only I could give a 10 star rating.

Digital Lens Rental is the best! Ive worked with them several times and every time theyve exceeded my expectations. Hampton Roads photographers are so lucky to have this wonderful business close by. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

I have only great things to say about DLR. I used to rent from online companies for any equipment I needed or wanted to test before buying. It is so convenient to have a rental location here in Hampton Roads. Not only are you not paying for shipping, you get to take advantage of reasonable rental prices and the staff is amazing. I love picking up and dropping off my rentals because Nick and Jessie are so wonderful to work with... I usually end up sticking around for a while just chatting! If you are in the Hampton Roads area, your days of renting from online rental companies are over... rent your equipment from Digital Lens Rental!

Per day rental for just a lens is a little over the top. The reason why I am giving this place a three is because they have some nice, but older equipment like the 400mm f2.8L (NON-IS!) for $165.00 per night. I would pay that much if this lens had image stabilizer and it was a newer generation of lens.
