I love this place. Great selection of music on cd, vinyl, and cassettes. Even if they dont have something you can place a special order, which I did because Id prefer to order from a small record store than a large online chain. Prices are reasonable too. Most records are in the 20-30 dollar range. They have a lot of band merch and movies as well.Staff was friendly and helpful while I was special ordering an album as well as when I was checking out. I will be back soon.
Nice place of course, but MAAAN I was really hoping they had vintage vinyls from the 20s 30s 40s 50s. Selection is a bit limited
Could not believe they had most of the titles that Ive been looking for. And the ones that I grew up with whether it be DVD or music. I also appreciated the diversity behind the counter. It did not go unnoticed. Which made a very relaxing atmosphere to buy a lot of DVDs. One of my favorite stores now...and thats hard to find today
Very helpful staff, cant really ask for more from a record shop. Fantastic selection and prices.
If your policy is to throw people out for disabilities and have no problem violating ADA laws and disability act of 1973 then I wont shed one tear when you guys go out of business. Seeing how you are being replaced by internet and Amazon and apps like pandora. Good riddance.
Lots of cds could use more vinyl. It works be great if their rock section had a progressive rock section
Very cool place! Has a pretty good amount of every genre. Really like the metal and rock sections! Wish they had more newer stuff but anything classic is great!Staff is very cool and respectful! Always there to help!Come here almost every week. Hope it’s here when my kiddos get into this stuff! 🤘🏼
Great record store with a classic feel to it. My favorite thing is to flip through bins of records and see what gems I can find. They also had a huge selection of CDs, band shirts, mugs and other fun stuff. The staff is friendly and theyre taking Covid precautions, which I appreciated. Love their unique decor, though. It feels like an experience, not just another record store.
Independent music store that has band merch as well as actual cds. They have KISS stuff which is why I go back so often.KISS!!!! 🤟
Great record store, had literally everything you could want from a CD and record place, Id definitely go here if you love older music, there down currently but they have stations to listen to your music, people there were nice.
If you’re looking for used records go somewhere else. This place feels like a glorified best buy, mostly everything is retail and new.
Very nostalgic. Reasonably priced. Helpful staff.
Incredible selection! Fair pricing and awesome rock and roll display!!
Ive been going to Rolling Stones for years! Great selection of music- Staff is very knowledgeable. This place is iconic!
I LOVE THE 70’S NOSTALGIA 🎶☮️💟
Rolling Stones has one of the best selections of music I’ve found anywhere! Their decor is awesome and the staff are so nice.
A shadow of past years. Didnt have one song I was looking for.
Love that there is still a cd store like this around.
Nice staff, cool air conditioning. Lots of CD’s, good Vinyl selection but I was hoping for more.
Lots of music. Wish they had more vinyl jazz.
I was Christmas shopping for vinyl for my son but they didnt have what I was looking for (surprisingly limited selection) but I made some guesses about what he might like. I mentioned to the clerk that it was a gift and asked about the return policy. I said that I assumed that if it was unopened and he had the receipt, it would be returnable. She added that it had to be within 30 days and offered me the half sheet return policy (in 10-point type), which I took. She neglected to add that you can only receive a merchandise credit--not a credit back to your charge card, which I was astounded to find out when I read the policy at home. I havent seen this policy in any stores in many, many years. I guess I should have spent the 5 minutes in the store at the checkout counter to read the lengthy return policy before I made $100+ purchase. If these are albums he already has or doesnt like, Ive wasted my money since he doesnt buy CDs and there was such a limited selection of vinyl. I should have shopped on line, where you can always return it but Im trying to do my part to keep brick and mortar businesses alive. Im just hoping that my son likes the ones I chose.I noticed that the owner has responded to other comments. I wonder if hell respond to this one.
Well always like this place my children and now my granddaughter have seen them unfortunately the headphones section no longer it is now legacy
The best record store in Chicagoland, even during the best record store years.
I enjoyed the selection of media but me and my friend had a hard time with the musty rancid smell that is strong inside the shop. Its comparable to sniffing an old water soaked book and we began to feel sick shortly after entering. Dont know if that was just us but it made for an undesirable experience. My friend did find everything he wanted though and walked away happy with his new CDs.
Taking a trip down memory lane with my kids. I am glad to see such an iconic establishment navigate this time of digital downloads. Thank goodness for small miracles. I was i bit surprised that with the comeback of vinyl that they did not have a bigger selection
Rolling Stones is a Time Capsule of a record shop that has a wide array of selections (CDs mostly) that also supports local and indie artists by carrying their releases. Call if youre looking for something in particular and theyll set you up or stop through and have an experience you dont have in a Barnes & Noble type corporate experience. (I am fine with Barnes and Noble...but you wont be discovering unsigned, non-major label artists represented there).
Love the staff here, love the variety, super cool place to take your friends!
Awesome record store no used vinyl but great prices on new also have CDs, DVD and Box sets
Didnt have the new J.Cole but not there fault. Artists these days dont always release physical copies. Ugh
Best place to buy physical media in the city. They carry boutique labels like Kino, Blue Underground, Scorpion Releasing, Code Red, etc.
A fantastic store! Have been going for many msny years!
Always buy some cds here when in town. Glad to see they are still around!
Upon entering, my mom and I got were so amazed at how nice the store looks. Very expansive collections in stock and I was happily able to find what Ive been looking for. We were satisfied with our purchases and will definitely come back!
Pretty good selection
Waste of time, no help whatsoever the person behind the counter is just sitting there playing with his phone better off just ordering stuff online.
My favourite place to shop for music. You can find anything there and if you cant they will order it for you.
Best selection around!
Quintessential record store experience. We found unusual things. Its very cool. However, be warned that it has an incense scent if you have sensitivity to smells.
An iconic and cool place to find your music. Not much has changed in the 20+ years Ive been going here and thats a good thing.
What a store with a huge section of metal, punk and hardcore!
Great place I been going to this store since I was 15 years old great place
Took my daughter here for the first time always my favorite music store
I love the selection 😍
I was very excited to come into the store earlier today. Unfortunately, once I arrived at the store, my excitement quickly disappeared as I was falsely accused of already coming to the store and publicly shamed by one of the employees. When attempting to purchase a signed CD, I was told I already was in the store today, even though I had not been. Typically, when someone accuses someone of something, they have proof, or in the very least, are willing to provide evidence of their claim. The employee claimed that I came into the store earlier and bought a CD with a credit card. Since it was a signed CD, the store had a policy of one per person, which is perfectly understandable and reasonable — except I was not even allowed to purchase the one CD because, as mentioned, I was wrongly accused of already coming in and buying one. In defense of myself and the inaccurate claim being made against me, I offered to show the employee my credit card statement online and my transaction log to show that I had not purchased anything at the store today. In an attempt to disprove this false claim, I did show a store employee my transaction log. Of course, there was no record of me purchasing anything at the store because I was not there prior to this experience.Additionally, I offered to show my driver’s license as a way to confirm my name and show that my name did not match any name on the store’s transaction log. Yet, this was still not enough evidence. So I kindly asked the employees if they would review security camera footage and show me evidence that I was in the store already today. This request was also denied. Then, after I asked what proof I can provide to show that I was not in the store today, another employee then attempted to shame me for wanting the CD at all, saying “dude, it’s OK, it’s a Taylor Swift CD, you don’t need it.” I suppose it’s not OK for me to be a fan and supporter of Taylor Swift based on this statement. It’s disappointing to see a store that my family and I have been longtime fans of treat me like this. It’s my hope this situation could be rectified but based on the way I was treated today, I’d expect my message will be ignored, just as my defense of myself in the store this afternoon was. I would highly recommend not taking your business here, and instead taking it somewhere where you will not have your integrity questioned, be degraded, and be laughed at by employees. Perhaps the most disappointing thing is that I just no longer feel comfortable taking my business to a store I’ve greatly enjoyed for a decade-plus. Incredibly disappointed with my experience here today.
Love Christmas shopping at Stones!...always find the right presents and great deals!😀🎸🍻
I love this store!
Big store with a big selection but zero used records so youll never find a gem alot of people look for. Everythings sealed and new, its not a store Id visit again sadly.
Amazing place for music lovers!!! I felt like back in the late 80s, going into a great record shop, with amicable and knowledgeable staff, wonderful selection of CDs, including a great deal of bootlegs, broadcasts, and imports at decent prices. Excellent selection of cult movies and newly released vinyls - even the t-shirts were cool, too. Wished I wasnt on my last day of visit. But since Im coming back to Chicago before the end of the year, this will be my first stop. Highly recommended!!!
I look on the website and saw Jenna’s first pick was Harry Styles fine line, so that is automaticlly 5 stars
Great store. They still have CDs and records which is cool
Great record spot and amazing interior. Some good digs here. One of the main reasons I miss living in Illinois. Love from Tokyo!
Fun stop in the Chicago area. Great selection of LPs and CDs.
Surprised its still open.
Unique music and video shopping experience that retains much of its 80s record store decor.
Great Store
They had everything I was looking for and more!
Always cozy and friendly. The neighborhood is very pretty as well.
Ive been coming to Rolling Stone for 27 years since November 1992. Never had a bad experience browsing or shopping there. Always great deals for hit music, film and rare stuff hard to find anywhere else. With the disappearance of other major music retailers over the last 15 years and more its amazing and delightful that Rolling Stones keeps rolling on all these years.
Great place. Remember LPs that i had in my home country 25 years ago with store famous sticker.. Still buying music in this store. Love it for atmosphere. Cheers!!
I’ve been going here since I was a baby and never had such a terrible experience. I went to buy a $6 CD with my DEBIT CARD and was asked for my ID in which I did not have on me. Then I got attitude while trying to see what I could show them for proof that it’s my own debit card with my name on it. Never once was I asked for my ID for a purchase on a debit card especially for one under $10. Considering there’s not much business there anymore you’d think they be more considerate. I told them to give me my card back and left. I was so excited to buy my friend the CD she has been looking for. I let my dad know about this experience who was the person who brought me here and has been going there for over 30 years and he will not be returning as well as all my friends who loved this store. Teach your employees respect and customer service. This will be my last visit to my favorite childhood store. The employee was middle aged, with red/maroon hair and slightly tan. Couldn’t believe her sour attitude.
Shop at Rolling Stone Records for years its great place.
Best place to go for Rock n Roll T-shirts! Ive been doing this for wayyy over ten years, and I love it! What better place to go for some Band merchandise than Rolling Stone records, Hm?
Throwback to the good old 80s
Great place for CDs and music coffee cups
Rolling Stones has the best deals! The store offers a whole variety of CDs, records and other gift items. I really do enjoy the atmosphere and always look forward to coming here. The staff are helpful and welcoming
Den & I Found some of our old & new favorites music here. A while back I asked clerk to order an item that I couldnt find. No problem. A great place for any type of music. The service is good. Ive been shopping here, for years.
Been coming here when Vinyl was in its heyday. Still have most of what I purchased here. Moved on to CDs when they became popular, now I mix it up as I refuse to give up my collection. Anyways great store, good selection most types of music well represented here, prices are good and their arent too many more around so I will continue to shop here
I just got my favourite things of mine are looking forward to seeing everyone watching their own cartoons on their own homes. Thank you so very much for your time and effort in the night and day too. Thank you and you all have a nice weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Bye for now love you bye bye
The history and ml encyclopedia of music inside of a store! Fixure of Chicagoland since before I read born. Recommend to anyone who loves music. Make the visit at least one in your life,. You will not regret it. PS Dear owner, could you find a Clash tee or mug maybe at your store? It will be for a good friend of mine that I will see out of town in January. Here will love that I got it from your store!
Good place to try and find some obscure music for that person in your life that hasnt adopted modern technology.
Been here many times, and its always a great stop! Plenty to see with an awesome staff that makes your stop in even better!
Love Love This Place I love collecting CDs They Have Everything I want In there Staff Very Helpful This Place Is A gem Literally any genre or cd They Have It Love Rolling Stones Gonna keep on going there for a long time
Had my cd waiting out in five minutes thank you.
I havent been here since I was kid with my mom in the 90s. It brought back so many memories of days that I used to hang with my mom but the selection of music and dvds is impressive. I was just browsing but want to go back soon to really shop
Great selection of music and movies. Not so great prices.
Been going since I was a kid. Great place to buy hard to get items. Only thing I dont like is the prices are to high
One of the few places left in the NW suburban Chicago area with a decent selection of new music releases. New CDs and vinyl, too. Have been shopping here for 25+ years and its still a gem.
Its a Chicago area staple of a record store. They have all kinds of stuff you cannot find anywhere else. Love this place!
This place hasnt changed one bit since I last walked in back in the 90s. Staff may have changed but attitude is the same. Got great deals, same as Amazon on price, but I got to flip through picking what I wanted. Priceless.
Just went by there the other day I remembered how much I miss shopping there. Sadly live too far to stop there all the time. But boy do I remember always having the best selection. never played really crappy overly commercial stuff. Used to be able to find great rare albums here.
Always found what im looking for every time i go there. They need to get more merchandise in and the employees need to be more customer service oriented.
Had been going to Rolling Stones since the early 80s, bought a CD for a gift for my sister, turned out she already had the CD. Try to take it back to Rolling Stones, sealed in the packaging (Stones price sticker clearly visible) but with no receipt. Didnt want my money back, just in store credit. The two young girls behind the counter informed me there was no credit without a receipt. In this day and age of Amazon and online shopping youd think customer service would help differentiate brick and mortar stores, not Rolling Stones. With that said, Im still an advocate of ma and pa stores, however not with Rolling Stones, you forced my hand. Gotta say its easier for me to shop from home with a simpler exchange policy instead of driving for 30 minutes one way to support a business who makes doing business with them rather difficult. I tried. In reading other reviews I see Im not the only one with this experience. Odd that the owner thanks customers for their feedback yet doesnt adapt or change the policy, quite the head scratcher.
Always a good place to find some rare music.
This could be a museum. Fun place to get things even with all the music being digitized. They have clothing and all sorts of other memorabilia. If youre at the Harlem Irving Plaza (the mall directly next to it), you must stop here.
They had problems with my credit card. The girl behind the counter said that their equipment was very old & they were having problems with it. She asked if I could come back in 10 minutes and she would try the card again. Hey !! Bite the bullet and purchase new equipment and not make the customer wait.
Fantastic place. Great selection of new releases as well as back catalogues. The metal section was great, the best Ive seen in any physical store in ages. Will return every time I visit Chicago.
Great record store with the mainstream titles and hard to find ones. Hopefully this place continues its outstanding service.
Very cool store CDs only from what I saw so not really my bag. But they have a very good selection. Always good to see an independent shop.
