I like to do my own oil changes when I can. One of my out of town daughters was home for the weekend, so I decided to do an oil change on her car. Living out of town, the car normally gets taken to quick lube places for that service. Well, after draining the oil, I ran into the tightest oil filter I have ever run across in 30 years of working on cars. The monkeys at Valvoline Instant Oil Change (their name was on the filter) cranked the filter on so tight there was no getting it off. After working on it for around 4 hours and trying everything including jamming a screwdriver in it, I could not get it to budge and decided to get professional help. I called Mom & Pops and asked if they could help and they agreed to do whatever it took to get the filter off. Since there was no oil in the car, I had to have the car towed to the garage. Marc put the car up on his lift and before I had time to leave my contact information with Marcs wife, he had the filter off of the car! He finished the oil change on the spot and even drove the car to my house to save me the trouble of coming back (I followed the tow truck there in my car). When I asked Marc how much I owed him he said, Just a handshake will do. He said that with the tow and all of the frustration, that old change had cost me enough and he didnt believe in charging customers just to charge. You dont run across good, old fashioned people like that too often anymore. I wil be bringing my cars back to Mom & Pops when I need service and I will be recommending them to everyone that I can. Marc(is the best mechanic Ive known my whole life. his prices are fair. he stands behind his work and is no bs. he tells like it is. hes the kinda guy I can hand 100 dollar bill to and ask him to hold this for me and 10 years could go by and hed still have that same exact 100 dollar bill to give back to me. I trust my wifes and our familys lives and safety with this man and the work he does is bar none best youll find in northeast ohio.
