If you own an older jeep request David Green. He did an outstanding job on my Liberty. From start to finish these guys will walk you through every step of the way. I gave 3 stars ONLY because after a horrible experience, Johnny ( I think that was his name) was very helpful in trying to rectify the situation. I ordered/paid for 4 new tires online and made an appointment to have them installed. My normal mechanic does not take appointments and due to time restrictions I assumed it would be best to make an appointment to reduce my waiting time. I arrive for my 10am appointment for them to tell me it would be about 1 1/2 hours before they even take my car back because they still had cars to work on from the previous day. Finally after a hour and 20 min they inform me that the tires I ordered were the incorrect size, even though thats what size their website suggested based on my cars make and model. Luckily they have the correct tires in stock but Im told they will be a different price. Now, here is the mind blowing part. When I ask what the difference will be so I know what to expect, this man honestly tells me that there is no way for him to tell me the price before hand but it should be around the same price. HOW CAN YOU NOT TELL SOMEONE THE PRICE OF TIRES BEFORE BEING INSTALLED!!!! That blew my mind. I still cant wrap my head around it. Finally 2 1/2 hours later, its finally time to pay. What they neglected to tell me, was that my online payment could not go towards the different tires. Now I have a $400 charge still pending on my card, and I have to come up with another $400+ to pay for the service. Seeing as how I paid for the tires online, I was not prepared to pay an additional 400 out of pocket. Not to mention how embarrassing that was. This is an unacceptable and not how a business should be ran. While I do appreciate Johnny I will NEVER go to pep boys again. No wonder the company isnt doing too well.**EDIT: After my tire installation they tried to CHARGE me for 1 year roadside assistance which I declined. After reviewing my receipt, I learn that it is included for FREE with the purchase of my tires. Yet another auto shop trying to take advantage of a female. Typical. Therefore I changed my 3 stars to 1.

I had an awesome visit here! I didnt have an appointment scheduled. I needed an oil change immediately. They saved me a trip and I was able to get a coupon. Johnny Y, was amazing in assisting my needs today. He called around to various part stires until he found my special filter needed for my BMW. I valued that type of customer service. He was friendly, and he committed to a time frame and delivered on that promise. The sitting area was nice and clean and more than six feet apart sitting in the waiting area. The restroom was nice and clean. Thank you Johnny Y. for taking care of me without having a scheduled appointment and saving me a few dollars. Also, thank you for the complimentary calendar. I definitely recommend you to go and do business at this location.

I had a bad noise coming from my front end, called early morn they were able to get me in quickly and diagnose my problem......my tpms sensor broke off and was having fun in my rim/tire . Their customer service was excellent. We were nearby when our serpentine belt fell off completely. As we were closer to Tread Quarters Discount Tire, we stopped by them first but the lady at the front said they were full and refused to take us.So we went to Pep Boys and the mechanic Wayne was able to quickly diagnose the problem with just a quick look and without charging us, even though he seemed to be pretty busy. Then we went to the front counter and even though they were completely full for the day, they said they would fit us in since we didnt have any other mode of transportation and we couldnt drive the car as the power steering was completely out. The price for the part and labor was very reasonable too.We feel very lucky that we stopped by this Pep Boys and are thankful for all the wonderful service we encountered there. They even have our car a quick check up and topped up our power steering before handing the car back to us. We will definitely return for future car problems.

The whole experience was very unpleasant and quite cringy. The manager was not wearing a mask dispite having a sign posted on their wall stating that it is their COMPANY POLICY. Only two people were wearing masks inside the building.They were undermanned and unprofessional and incompetent. The woman was very terse with how spoke and handled us and her employees. Not an ounce of warmth nor professionalism emited from her.

I am always impressed with their selection and quality of customer service that they have available. These guys were so great! The only place I found opened on a Sunday. The man at the front, I think Travis was super nice. He even explained in detail what my car needed. Scheduled an appointment for a Lyft inspection and they claimed they not only couldn’t find my appointment, but also that they only do Lyft inspections on a walk in basis. I tried to do a walk in and the receptionist said they can’t do that either. If you intentionally want your time wasted, this is the shop for you! 👍🏼

I had an appointment booked today and had four tires on order that were “in stock” when I researched everything online. I show up today, and first they can’t find my appointment. Showed him my confirmation and then magically he found it. Then, he doesn’t have the tires that were “in stock” and said I’d have to drive to West Ashley to get them. What?!? He said their inventory is all messed up and his manager is out of town but they don’t have what they say they do online. Very poor company and service. I took the day off today to get these done and now nobody else has any appointments. Thanks a lot, Pep Boys. This will be the first and last time I ever use you guys!!! Save yourself some time and energy and just go to Gerald’s. I should have known better.

So, after getting off to a great start with the initial meet and greet, I was feeling very comfortable with my expectations and their deliverables... Fast forward 4 hours later, when I am told that my vehicle is ready, I ask a few questions just to ensure that all is truly well. My check engine light remains on, this was my chief complaint, the electrical system check was never performed and the only explanation was sorry! This was all clearly documentes on the service write-up. Conclusion, dont waste your time, companies that dont appreciate our business should not be in business.

I had a SCHEDULED appointment at 10 am and was told I had 4 cars ahead of me... it took 4hr for them to look at my car! They forgot and was servicing cars that had been brought in AFTER me! What is the point to offering the convenience of appointments if its still first come first served? It is infuriating to be misled into thinking appointments matter! Thats why this place is going out of business smh. Then as I sit here, they dont have parts that people need to have their vehicles fixed so why are you even open for vehicle service? Put this place out of its misery!

Chris and his team installed 4 new tires and 4 new brake rotors and 1 tire sensor. A non Pep Boys service center tried to sell me 4 sensors when I only needed one. Chris is an honest manager. His team is honest and does amazing work. No need to undermine him or his store at all. I’ll be a lifetimer at this location because of him and his team. Nicely done guys.

Very nice & helpful employees. I was sad they didnt have the specific tissue box holder I was looking for but they had some interesting options that one of those helpful employees I mentioned earlier tracked down for me.I assume there is a logic to their floor plan & if I came in more than once a year I would understand it. I found it hard to locate items on my own hence 4 not 5 stars. Sure glad the ladies working there know where things are and willingly share that knowledge.

Johnny and Wayne went above and beyond to get 4 tires off and back on correctly. A previous shop over tightened the lug nuts and stripped several that needed to be removed by hand. They called around to find replacement lug nuts to ensure the tires were back on correctly. I will definitely be back to have my cars serviced when needed.

Reached location at 7pm after getting a flat tire. I told them I was out of town and needed to get drive back 200 miles to my hometown. All I needed was for them to plug the tire. They advised they no longer plugged tires but patched them but said they couldnt so it today. They only had one car in their 7-10 lifts. I then asked if I could just buy one tire from them and if they could just replace my one flat tire. I was refused. Then I asked if they could just put the tire on the rim and Id put the wheel on myself because it was already in my trunk because I was driving on the spare tire I had switched out already. Even offered to pay one of the staff off hours to help me plug a tire. Manager over heard and threatened to fire any employees who helped me. What happened to good will and good people? Or even just good customer service? I offered to buy a tired but they would rather not work their last hour of their shift than help someone in need

Came in to look at a full wiring setup to add auxiliary lights to my SUV. I asked the woman at the front where I might find something like that. She stated she didnt know and proceeded to ignore me and have a conversation with another employee instead of trying to help me. I went blindly around the store for about 5 minutes before I found a wiring harness that would fit my needs, so I grabbed it and was then looking at some other items.I then noticed that both women in the front (the ones having the conversation) were now both watching me like hawks, and another very large male employee was suddenly following me around the store. I still had the wiring harness in my hands, but he just kept following me, and the ladies (I use the word loosely) in the front were whispering to each other and still staring. After about 2-3 minutes, I felt so uncomfortable that I just put the harness down at one of the front registers and walked out of the store without buying anything. The guy followed me outside, and thankfully stopped when I got into my car.The sad part is, if I had been asked, I would have gladly emptied my pockets out to show I wasnt stealing anything. I would have been happy if the police had shown up so I could prove the same point to them. Instead, your staff drove away a once loyal customer who will no longer set foot in another Pep Boys again thanks to this incident.

Customer service was pretty good however they scratched my rims when putting them on. It wasn’t a big scratch and they made it up to me. They also put the old, dirty rims straight in my back seat which was pretty annoying however the associate manager apologized and I left happy. I would visit again and would recommend! They were able to get me in the same day and had a great deal on tires!

I used to be one of those people who would always take my car to the dealership because I was worried if I took it anywhere else, something would go wrong. Eventually I couldn’t afford the astronomical prices of a dealership for a simple oil change and after one visit where Toyota tried to tell me I needed $3000 of repairs, I was done. I looked around for what was close to me, read some reviews and landed on pep boys. Every time I walk in their service center, the two guys at the desk are cutting up and having a great time. They’re so sweet and genuinely listen to what problems you’re having with your car and will do whatever it takes to fix it. I feel comfortable bringing my car here even more than a dealership now. They never try to sell you things you don’t need. I had a situation where I was convinced I needed breaks. I dropped it off on a Saturday and told them I’d come back tomorrow. I walked in and they let me know there was not a thing wrong with them. They checked the breaks, the pads, the fluids and test drove they car and insisted there was not a thing wrong with them so they wouldn’t sell me something I didn’t need. They did check for recalls though and found the ABS had a recall so that could be what it is. I appreciate them so much and adore how honest they are. Will continue bringing my car here for a very long time.

Thank you Johnny! I went to tread quarters the week before I went to pep boys. Got 4 new tires on my Ram 1500. And an alignment. I had a 9am appointment at TQ it took 6.5 hours for tires alignment and oil change. TQ does not have the skill and knowledge to change tires. 3 days after appointment I finally drove over 50mph and it shimmy’s so I took it back and all they could do was agree but they didn’t know how to fix it. So I ponied up 200 more and took to pep boys and told them and they said they have seen a lot of this lately. They were slammed busy but Johnny said to squeeze me in and I am so thankful for him my truck is back to smooth. Will be going back to pep boys from now on. Johnny also called me after a couple hours to follow up on balancing and alignment best customer service I have had in a while.

I had my brake lights go out. It was an hour or less til close on a Friday night. It was clear that the problem was not the lamps themselves and I needed the electrical to be checked. I live on Charleston AFB and would undoubtedly been ticketed for driving with no brake lights, or worse… been the cause of an accident. I asked the service department to help me and two mechanics, Steve and Adrian, helped me without hesitation. The diagnostic test at first did not go well and we were all scratching our heads after hours. Adrian and Steve said they would need more time and would have the vehicle 100% by morning. They even assisted in my safe travel back to base. By 11am Saturday (less than 2 hours after opening shop), wires were troubleshot, a clear culprit of the problem was identified, a fuse was replaced, all lights in the rear of the vehicle were replaced, and no more codes came up on the diagnostic test. I am only in the area on temporary orders, but I wish I had these guys nearby my current duty station. If I did live in the Charleston area, this would be my number 1 go-to shop. Thanks for your help and professionalism!

Quite refreshing to see that level of honesty and integrity, and just good old fashioned home town customer service these days. I would recommend Pep Boys Rivers Ave Service Center to anyone who wants an honest diagnosis and opinion of whats really wrong with their vehicle.Took my Suburban to Pep Boys for an alignment check due to a very slight low frequency front end vibration which no one has been able to diagnose correctly without just throwing parts at it (already troubleshoot the typical GM front hub bearing issue, no help).So I had to start my own diagnosis from the beginning.Pep Boys Service Mgr Alan Goodman promptly got my vehicle in, and after analysis of the alignment readings, Service Tech David Green called me over and showed me that my alignment was still within specs, and no alignment was necessary at the time. We even discussed other possible causes.They told me there would be no charge since they did not perform any maintenance.Now THAT is honest SERVICE.Of course I gave them something for their time devoted to my vehicle.But that experience alone will have me continue to take my vehicle there for any repairs I need.

Was down for the weekend moving my son to North Charleston for new job. Had belts on his car recently replaced but upon move, two of them started to squeal really loud. Brian and his team (even though they were short staffed and quite busy) took the time to adjust the pulleys and get things back on track again. Wow! Just wow!! This is the second time my husband and I have been in here, and I a floored with the service. Both Stephen and Jason have not only been completely transparent with what they were doing on the vehicle, but have also helped us out finacially. I understand that deals wont always happen, but being on a military budget, this has been a huge blessings. I am especially pleased with just how friendly and funny Stephen has been. Amazing service!! 45 minutes into our 4 hour trip home, our car broke down (water pump) on the side of 26 ON SUNDAY, EASTER MORNING. David, from Twisted Hook Towing, picked us up within 30 minutes. David drove us around until we found a Pep Boys. Not only were they open on Easter Sunday and able to do the repair but they also got us in without an appointment. The total cost was $844 for the water pump replacement and it took 5 hours but we would not have made it home that day without them. Thank you Johnny and Chris!

I scheduled an oil change in advance for 1:00. At 3:15, I returned, having not heard from the store. I found my car in the exact same spot. Not only had no services been performed, but no one had called me to let me know. I asked for my keys and was told I wouldnt have any luck anywhere else. I get that wait times vary depending on a lot of variables, but over two hours for a scheduled oil change and the car wasnt even on a lift, nor was i called as a courtesy? No apologies, no professionalism, just a good luck anywhere else! Just a terrible experience.I would never return.

Absolute sham. I came in for a Lyft car inspection, and they sold me on new tires. No problem, I want to be safe. Made an appointment Saturday morning for new tires and to finish inspection. Got in, waited 2 hours while they put on new tires.They tried to sell me on $300 more. Again, no big deal. Thats what these places do. Finally, paid after service was done. They said they cant finish the inspection until Monday between 1-4.Got fooled out of my money, but oh well. I definitely would recommend getting your Rideshare inspections done elsewhere.

I bought the 2 tires get 2 tires free for my 15 optima online on Saturday. I paid the extra 100 to get it installed and had a appointment for Sunday morning. I called to confirm my order and asked if I brought my car in today if they could fit me in. They said bring it down. I dropped it off at noon and by 1245 they brought her in the back and was working on her. I also opted for the lifetime alignment for 50 dollars extra and the technician James was excellent. He brought me back and explained how the alignment worked. I have seen a lot of bad reviews but James was awesome and they fit me in with no schedule and did a great job. Truly happy.

Had a great experience. The manager was very friendly and gave me options for my repairs. He and his mechanics got my truck ready ahead of schedule and at a reasonable price, and I would trust them with any future repairs Id need.

This pep Boys store in North Charleston is like a toolbox for your car, truck, SUV, any vehicle. The awesome thing about this place is that they sell Traxxas ® cars there they are the fastest cars in the State of South Carolina! With speeds topping up to 65 mph (105 km/h)! They also have a service center at the other end of the store! They have wiper blades, rain-X bug removal fluid, R-134a refrigerant, Mechanics tool box, Pennzoil, Air Filters, tires, stereo system, rain-X glass cleaners, almost everything that they have in store, you should see it in person!!Thank you for reading my review!08/08/18

I ordered two tires for my truck online. Was directed to this location for pickup. I arrived at the location. I informed cashier of my order and gave her order number. She took my funds and sent me to the parts counter. When I show the parts rep my paid in full receipt, he takes it and looks at it and says, We dont have these tires! He goes to the back and comes back 3 minutes later and confirms he didnt have them. I was sure this was a joke. The cashier took my money. The flipping tires best be here! Long story short, I had to drive to James Island to get the tires the following day. Im not making this up. And when I arrive there, I had to stand there while the manager figured out how to do a transfer from this location to his. Why? Why? Why? I never like to put anyone out there like this. But this experience was the uncoolest of uncool. I dont need to tell you where Im not going going back to.

When I walked in Mr. Richard at the front desk was dealing with a very difficult customer, but after that he was very nice a patient with me. He was able to get my car in quickly even though I was leaving it over night. Mr. Richard was also prompt with calling me that night to let me know how the inspection of my car went. I needed a tire due to uneven wear and even though I wasnt able to afford the ones the store had in stock, he let me know about all the options I had available in store and to order. When I picked up my car Mr. Brian helped me by reminding me of the tire and showing me what and where the problem was. When I can afford it, I will be getting all my tires and any extra work I need done at this location. This crew is amazing and I applaud them for their great work and smiling faces.

The customer service folks there have been very helpful, informative and prompt in meeting our needs. The store has has serviced our vehicles promptly and notified us of the cars availability after repairs. We are very pleased with the service we receive.

The best experience ever! Brian Yeoman is awesome!! Over the holidays, life was super crazy with work, family, and a marathon cold. Got a jump bc my car 100% died at 6pm and drove around for 45+ minutes looking for an open shop/parts store when I found Pep Boys on Rivers. Everyone was super nice and reassuring. Brian, the store manager, was fantastic. He quickly checked and figured out my problem and fixed it. He was super nice and calmed me down bc I imminently thought it was going to need a new battery or alternator or something big. The best part was when I asked about needing anything else- a new battery, tires, etc., he didnt try to push or scare me into buying anything, but gave me his expert advice and a timeline and explanation on why he thought what he thought. He also didnt talk down to me. Will definitely bring my car to this Pep Boys when I need work done.

I stopped in to just look around and was told about a promotion on wiper blades buy 1 get 1 half off. I was sold because I actually needed them. Without question Tasha in service offered to install the me. I am normally hesitant about people working on my truck but she was very polite,professional and careful to not scratch my truck. A+ in my book. I always have a great experience when I go here!!

Was told I had an hour wait until they started mounting and balancing my new tires on my car. I went for a walk after waiting for an hour and after the hour walk and my car hadnt even been moved to start yet. I went to national tire and battery. Was finished WITH an alignment within an hour and a half. Never trying Pep Boys again.

I went in to find an obscure part for my truck, after describing the seal to the parts counter guy he quickly wiped down the seal to find a part number. When he didnt find a number he explained that this particular company didnt put part numbers on their seals. After searching the computer for the part and finding it out of stock, he quickly made a recommendation to another parts store. Not long after I got there they had the proper part. I can always respect people that much more when they are willing to recommend other stores when they dont have the part themselves. Definitely a great store and personnel!
