*Update* I took my bass in to have it adjusted and a deep cleaning. Repair Joe really knows his stuff and can explain the whys and hows without getting you lost in the technical stuff. When Joe opened the case I could hardly believe my eyes, inside sat such a new looking 30 year old bass. Then he told me he set it up to Fender specs, a very nice surprise.* Whether you cant wait for that mail order gear or quickly need to replace something before a gig, Guitar Center is the place to go! Casual in-store perusing or buying is always welcomed by the knowledgeable and friendly staff. Repairs and set up services are also offered. The vast selection of instruments, amps and accessories assure youll find whatever you may need. Musicians know that hearing is believing and being able to plug in to play live goes a long way in decision making. Get on down and crank it to 11🤘🤘!!

Overall selection was good. However, I lingered in the store for nearly 45 minutes. I had a budget for a new acoustic guitar. Once entering the store I was not greeted or asked if needed assistance. I checked out the electric guitars while staff and customers made jokes and laughter, which of course is nice to hear. At first. After some time I made my way to the acoustic guitars and looked at nearly every model. A sign hung saying “ask an associate for assistance”. I was bewildered because I was not sure of whom in the store was an associate. I continued to look around and found a Martin in the very style and specs I was looking for. I gazed upon it. Looked back out into the showroom and looked upon it again. After deciding I would receive no help I walked back out into the showroom. Browsed some more before finally calling it quits once the laughter and the joking became more prevalent. I applaud guitar center for its stock, however for the customer service I could not be more dissatisfied. I imagine I will be asked “well did you ask an associate”? To that I reply no. I wasn’t sure who the associates were and I did not want to break up the “fun times” going on.

I only shop here for convenience, the customer service sucks. There’s always only like one person you can tell is fairly new that is actually helpful— that’s on a good day. Employees are clearly not knowledgeable on the products so don’t expect much advice, though I wish they would just be honest about it instead of trying to steal peoples money. They say they give military discount but they must lose some incentive for actually giving it because there’s no discount present upon purchase. The display price never matches the actual price, you’ll find that out once you get to the register. The place could really use some improvement and customer service training for its employees.

Guitar Center on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston is a great place to shop for all things musical equipment. I like being able to play with everything prior to making a purchase. They have an excellent selection available on display. The staff here is very knowledgeable and willing to help.

Everyone seems so willing to help. They dont wor.k on commission but you would think they do. They treat everyone kind of like family musical family.Always a good experience when I go there.

Received two different versions of store return policies and then was told to check online for the policy. My biggest question is, “Should the role of the “store” and its personnel be to educate and lead the consumer with clarity?”What’s the point of shopping “local” if I have to do all the research? I might as well just order from Sweetwater or another reputable dealer.As a musician, it is really an underwhelming experience each time I go in, but I do need some MIDI cables real quick, maybe they will have that.In my opinion this store should tighten up on the resale quality of open box items.Other than that, music stores are ALWAYS a magical experience.

The worker was pleasant and efficient in knowing what I was asking for even though I wasnt even pronouncing the brand correctly. Husband Plays guitar and he wanted strings for fathers day. Alexa botched the brand name my husband spoke while using speech to text while driving. I will return there gladly next time he asks for more strings

I needed some help with a custom DJ solution today and my sales person was on point. He knew exactly what I needed based on the issue I was describing. The only reason I dont give a five star review is because lack of inventory. Other than that, I always enjoy. Thanks for great service.

Poor customer service. After many years of purchasing equipment from this GC, Im now convinced they only want your dollars. Overcharged me for a guitar setup that should have been free as always. Too bad, lost my service forever. Ex-longtime customer. $72 for a setup that did not make a difference! Should have been free except for strings.

We went to find a digital piano for our granddaughter, who has started lessons. Machi helped us so much. We felt confident in our purchase thanks to his expertise; such a wealth of knowledge and no judgement on how far out of our comfort zone we were. Excellent customer service.Thank you!

Excellent service! The entire staff today was super helpful and kind. The place was packed but they worked together to find what would work for me. Even helped me try it out for the first time so I was ready to go from the moment I left the store. Im very happy I stopped in today.

Every time I go here with a pocketful of money shopping for DJ Gear. I get ABSOLUTELY no help or even acknowledgement from the staff.It is VERY frustrating to say the least. I can see why they are talking about going out of business. Please just shop online and save your gas and time.

Ive been to better Guitar Centers, but for Charleston, its not too shabby. Over the past 10 years that Ive lived here, Ive seen several line-up changes, but also some long-time mainstays who I feel comfortable dealing with. Here lately, even their new hires have impressed me. Not always the best deal in town, but more often than not, theyre willing to work with you. At the end of the day, theyre still a business and need to make money.

In recent years, this location has served more to be a central place to run into fellow Musicians and Artists alike. My last purchase was a true score for my studio. I purchased a pair of used Adam Audio TV7 monitors from their, North Carolina location for half off the retail price. The monitors were flawless and upped my mixing experience tremendously. Before getting these, I used to call monitors, glorified headphones. Mixing my album through these monitors has restored my production experience and allowed me to get more accomplished in a session. I used to use my Sony MDR-V600 headphones, but mixing for long periods of time each day, would make my ears sore from the constant pressure of the ear pads against my ears. Juan, was the store associate who helped me to determine which monitors would be the best to get. I dont usually need help when it comes to making these decisions, but this time I was glad that Guitar Center was on my team!

Due to COVID there is limited amount of musical equipment and the return policy has a shorter amount of time, at least for the KRK studio monitors that I purchased.

These guys are awesome. Go see them for all your musical needs.

This location is going in the toilet. They really need to educate their employees on proper customer service, how credit checks work (and the difference between hard and soft checks), and also maybe clean and change strings once in a while on the products. I REALLY hope to see them turn it around and bring this place back to how it used to be, but my experiences here in the last year have been so, so bad recently that I have to wonder if they ever will.

Great store with great gear. Percussion area was a mess and thats what made it feel like a rehearsal/studio space. Covid-19 restrictions limits 2 persons in the acoustic room at a time so it limits the amount of spontaneous jam sessions, but we will all get through it.

Simple purchase gone bad - I tried to buy some microphone cables online. The curbside pickup option would not work so I called the store. The gentleman who answered said Never order online - come on in - I have plenty of cables. He suggested that I ask for the Pro Audio department. That name is NOT descriptive of the type of advice you will receive. I waited in the Pro Audio dept for 10 minutes before anyone spoke to me. Even after the salesman came to me and started helping me he kept greeting everyone who came into the department and would go help them and then come back to me. It was obvious that he knew very little about audio. In the middle of all of this another salesman came in and cranked up some raunchy music so loud that we couldnt talk to each other. I left after 45 minutes - no cables. I ordered them on Amazon and received them the next day. Lesson learned.

It seemed a little disorganized when I went in. Not sure if thats typical or because it was the day after Christmas. Regardless, the staff was friendly and helpful. They helped me pick out the right strings for my sons new guitar and didnt seem to mind when he wanted to test out the electric drum set that was set up. Well be back for sure.

Second Time I’ve been to this guitar store in the last month. Went into buy a Martin, went back in the area and they had two guitars. Looked around for about 15 minutes and no one at all asked me if they could be of any assistance. I thought I’d give them a second chance, but I see that it was just wasted trip over here

My buddy and I brought our young children who werent exactly model citizens. The staff couldnt have been cooler. We werent in there buying expensive equipment either, though they did have some pretty nice gear at decent prices as well. They also had tons of stuff to play with and try out and were super helpful the first step in the door and the whole time. 5 stars

Very unprofessional staff and poor service at best. Go to Ye Old Music Shoppe, they may not have hundreds of guitars, but what they have is absolutely high quality and they can get you what you need for less than any box store or even online. Plus, they are some of the most knowledgeable in town.

This location is always helpful to me. I went to their trade-in event on August 22nd 2020 and got helped as soon as they were able. Even when I go on a normal day I usually get asked if I need help. I dont ever need help, but its nice that they ask.This store has a lot of options and theyre very responsible in terms of covid-19 protection.Only thing is I wish I got offered more than $100 for a $300 amp 😭

Had a rude female employee criticize me for my hand movements. Evidently I was being rude, and her idea of being professional was to snap at me. The guy at the counter was sick tho.

This place started off as a very nice store though much smaller than other Center stores They have a great selection of great merchandise at reasonable prices. Over the years they have let the store run down and clutter up. I dont go there for fun anymore just business.

Bought a new Peavey 100 watt amp 10 speaker combo. This amp day one started sounding inconsistent when I got it home. Replaced my cable yester day and Im certain the cone is blown already. Ive had this amp for less than a week and have not had it over a quarter of its potential. Tsk.

Very helpful in every way. I cant remember the young guys name who helped me but he showed me the best brands and the not so good ones. He showed me what I needed, how to tune my guitar, what would be better for my small hands. Hes knows the items really well and his vibe with the instruments was nice. He deserves these 5 stars!

So I just drove from Mount Pleasant to the store in North Charleston. I get there and there is a line to get in....ok no problem. Then I’m told you have to have a face mask to get in. I could debate that all day. So I ask if they have any. She responds no. I told her it should be on their google site if that’s what they are going to do or at least have some there to give you. She said I could use anything a scarf, shirt, bandana. Just shows people don’t have a clue. A wasted trip!

Good store and Good Service, One of my favorite places and definitely my recommendation for all your music needs. They have Instruments, accessories, lessons and everything you need, from your beginner level to a professional musician.

Needed newcstrings for the 12 stringer

Was there 20 minutes couldnt get anyone to help me even though lots of employees made eye contact. Had cash in pocket, ready to buy, Had to go elsewhere to find someone willing to help me. Amazing. How do you stay in business?

I never go to guitar center unless I have to. Is it takes forever to get help. Selection is decent at best. Theyre mainly in business because parents go in with no knowledge to buy their kid an instrument. Usually getting ripped off.

After waiting thirty minutes for someone to assist me, I finally just left and ordered from Amazon like normal people. Smh . The only reason I give two stars was due to their large inventory to choose from. Though it did me no good as I couldnt buy anything

Competitive prices on new and used gear, good selection in the store with more stuff on line you can order. For a chain music store, these guys are great. Very nice selection of a bunch of different types of instruments! Staff was very friendly, everyone wanted to make sure we found everything okay and wanted to make sure we didnt need help/have questions but they werent over pushy! Felt extremely comfortable being there.

My son takes guitar lessons here and his instructor, Brian, is phenomenal. I cannot recommend him enough for anyone looking for a local music teacher for their kids. The store itself has a huge selection and knowledgeable staff that are clearly musicians themselves, not just sales people.

Lots of instruments available and has almost everything you would need. I would give 5 stars however I was there for a microphone stand, and the options were very limited. As in there were only a few and the ones on the rack were torn open or retaped shut. Store could use all little organization.

What can I say, its a good place. Full of whatever guitar accessories you may need. I particularly didnt like what they had in the acoustic section. Their acoustics had small necks and strings that played like sandpaper. But the store itself was perfectly fine.

In tune to current situation, provides means of sizing upon entering and enforcing social distancing practices. Spaced out inventory for reasonable space when viewing instruments. Wear face mask for the protection of tde employees and other patrons.

They were sold out of a lot of the things I usually stock up on, and one of the workers tried to sell me a very low quality peg winder instead of a decent one, but other than that I was pleased with my service there. Ill definitely end up coming back in the future when I decide I want another guitar.

Long wait to check out. Just before Christmas and 1 register with 1 girl that talked alot, answered the phone and had to take care of sales on the floor. The only other employees I saw was one that only worked in repair and one that was an instructor and just walked around not helping anyone. It seems like he would be capable of at least answering questions for customers. Very long wait for me to just buy a pkg. of guitar strings.

The store is CRAMPED, and employees are UNINVITING. An arrogant couple of employees made me want to find somewhere else and Im SO GLAD I did because I found Ye Olde Music Shop.I was happy to SHOP LOCAL and felt valued by the owner of the YOMS company, who happened to be working that day.

The sales people who know a lot about guitars and bass are very helpful and knowledgeable, but Ive been there four times since December and theres never sales people in the drum section. Last time I was there none of the sales people knew much about drums. Dont hold that against the employees, seems like a management problem.

Ordered used gear off website (head and cabinet). Both arrived in less than a week, and both was in great condition. The price was good and everything was packed well. Only thing that prevents me from giving 5 stars is the worthless customer service call center. Everything else is great.

I always have such a hard time getting any kind of service in this place. I stood at one of the counters for like 10 minutes just trying to get a package of finger picks. The guy behind the counter looked busy, so I didnt mind waiting for a bit, but he just kept on doing whatever he was doing and never even acknowledged my presence. They werent busy at all at the time. I just left. Id give 1 star for this, but Ive been there other times when the staff were more helpful, maybe it was just an off day?

Great place with nice workers. They have pianos, microphones, drums, guitars, speakers and more. I liked it because they allow you to try out everything first (even the microphones)

Very little respect for others in this establishment. Im not a fan of the way the guitar booth was taken over by one guy and the salesman. There were at least 4 other people looking at guitars and they came in and blasted the place out. I left without purchasing the guitar I came back to get. I couldnt even hear myself think in the place e after they started.

I went in to get a string for my sons guitar, and they took care of it. I didnt know how to change it so they even showed me. Staff was excellent and very helpful. Great place to shop and earned my business.
