We had bought our pellet stove from Hearthworks and gas recently gotten our first service/cleaning done by their service outfit. From sale, to follow up, to service, everyone was knowledgeable and friendly! Scheduling was easy and the service men were professional and friendly. Would recommend buying at Hearthworks any time!

For the first time I write a review. I feel like I got scammed! I scheduled a service for my stove. Beware that most of the service is just a simple vacuum of the unit not much else. When I called in to ask the price of an annual service I was quoted 189. When I ask why was I just charged 219 for the service all she could say is that it probably went up. Probably. When I asked to speak with someone who may know the actual cost of the service I was told I was speaking with the person.The service is contracted. The contractor informed me that he had to charge me the Hearth Work price. Hearthwork claims that it was the contractors price. I guess the price is dependent on how they feel.Moreover, there was an additional fee for location which increase the amount. Another charge that was never mentioned or made clear to the customer.I was charged whatever the contractor felt like charging at the time. When I called in to speak with someone I was informed that I would be blacklisted! LOL!!Again I have never wrote a review but when I allow someone into my house I am not expecting to get scammed. I could have vacuumed my stove myself and saved Hearth Work time black listing customer who question their services.

Very poor customer service following the sale and install. Enviro unit is less than 2 years old and already having issues. Every time i call them they redirect me to a field technician who does their servicing. They have yet to return a call in over a month.

My wife and I purchased a gas insert fireplace from Hearthworks in North Reading. The experience starting off was perfectly fine, although a bit challenging due to COVID and trying to time the order with our construction. We gave the store manager, Michael, a budget and the type of fireplace we wanted and he provided us a package (you have to buy a ton of parts and other kits – the fireplace doesn’t just come all together) which we agreed to. Fast forward a few weeks when we were ready for the fireplace and we get told they don’t have this model in stock even though we placed the order weeks in advance. We then had to scramble to come up with a new fireplace order that could actually be received in time and while Michael assured us the unit would have similar functionality, we ended up paying $500-$600 more for this unit because certain parts had to be ordered separately – he refused to let us pay the same price as the original unit we ordered. Additionally, he did not include a metal cap for our chimney, which he knew we would need, which ended up costing another $400 plus the cost of having the installers come back out to the property. One of the worst parts of the customer experience when getting a fireplace from Hearthworks is their subbing out of the install of the actual fireplace. We were only offered one installer (Spinosa Maintenance) and had a terrible experience with them (I have posted another separate review for this company). When we tried to contact Hearthworks about the various issues we were having with the installation they tried to distance themselves from the installer claiming the companies were not connected even though this is the only company they offered to install our fireplace!! It’s just a bad customer experience. They sell you a fireplace and then do absolutely nothing to help make sure your fireplace is installed and working correctly. It’s terrible customer service. If I ever buy another fireplace again it will not be from this company and I recommend others stay away as well.

Not impressed with installation crew. Very unorganized, bickering and unsure of what was required for proper installation. Went with wood insert for efficiency and safety and have concerns if installed properly. Crew came out month before to inspect fireplace and chimney and still were unprepared. Definitely would recommend another retailer and installer for money spent.

A great local business that takes care of their own. Great customer service. I recently came into need of some pallets and they were nice enough to give me 4 good quality ones for free. If I am ever in need of things they carry, will call them first... So should you.

THIS IS WORST RETAIL STORE EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. This place sold me a defective product, and I had to pay for it to get fixed!I waited 6 weeks for a lawnmower, that I was told would arrive in 10-12 business days. After finally receiving the mower, chain snapped off the drive train upon starting.I was charged $70 to fix this! The kid, Mike, who appears to be in charge, is a completely smug millennial who told me he was “taking care of me” by not charging $150!!!.You try to support a local business, and this is what happens.STAY FAR, FARAWAY from Hearthworks.

We recently did a makeover of our fireplace and ordered a fireplace door through Hearth Works in North Reading. The selection was amazing and the service was great. Purchased Vermont Castings gas stove which was a perfect fit for former gas fireplace location which was no longer functional. Excellent product, with 200 lb of cast iron which lives up to product name. Will last forever!Michael was completely knowledgeable about his products, and quick to provide accurate, detailed answers to my questions. He readily sorted through the maze of possible venting solutions and provided all the required bits and pieces to make the installation work.The showroom is very impressive, with many stove products on display, with a number of them able to be fired up and demonstrated.All in all, this is testimony to why one should buy from a local small business. They have the product knowledge and know-how to make the purchase a pleasure.

I purchased a beautiful enamel finish wood stove from Hearth Works in North Reading and could not be happier with the experience from start to finish. I was greeted by Mike and Pat with a friendly face and thoughtful assistance. Their guidance through the entire process gave me the confidence to make a big purchase decision without regret. And the installers that they referred me to were second to none! They did the job on time, with incredible skill and cleaned up after themselves. Any questions I had for the store or the installer from day one were answered quickly and clearly. I have already referred family to this store and the installers, Bob and Tom. You must visit Hearth Works if you are looking for a wood stove!

Had a really good experience with Hearth Works. Extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive staff. We bought a gorgeous stove and love it. I even sent my parents to buy their new stove there!

I chose to visit Hearth Works when it was time for me to purchase a few stoves and they had beyond amazing customer service. Every time I visit the store I am greeted with smiles and I appreciate the way they treat me like family. I recently visited Hearth Works to purchase a burn pot for my pellet stove. They did not have one in stock so I had to order it. I told them I needed it ASAP, as I use my stove to heat my house. I was told it would take 2 weeks to get the part and was very disappointed. The store manager over heard the conversation and offered me one out of their floor models to get me by. Great customer service if you ask me.

Excellent customer service and a beautiful show room with lots of options. They are more than just s stove store they are outdoor entertainment one stop shopping. Michael the store manager is professional and knowledgeable in all the products. I would recommend them to anyone and I will continue to remain a loyal customer for all my stove needs.

I had nothing but the best experience with Hearth Works from the moment I walked through the doors to the completion of my project. I was greeted with a friendly voice and a smile. Their showroom is stunning. It is full of so many different products, with so many different options; fireplaces, outdoor furniture, fire pits, pellets and accessories. It is very clean and well taken care of.The store manager, Michael, was very professional and knowledgeable in all the products. He didnt try to talk me into something I didnt need. He listened and guided me through my purchase. My procrastination led me to make my purchase right before I needed it and I am sure it was in the height of their busy time. The delivery timeframe was straight forward and they did not disappoint. Kayla/Kalaa was responsive and helpful with the status of my with my order. She went out of her way to check with the home office that it had been shipped and assured me she would let me know when it was received....and she followed through. The installers they used were skilled, clean and they even showed us all the ins and outs on how to operate out unit.I am extremely happy with my purchase and the service I received. I would highly recommend Michael and Hearth Works to everyone that is need of any fireplace needs or any of the products they offer. Not only the people were wonderful but their prices are great too!

Beautiful Show room lots of real nice units.I recommended them to my client on a 1.5 m home.They sub out the installs and the installer did a rush job.The minute there was an issue they blamed it on everyone but the installed and charged more money to fix it.As the contractor I am the peace keeper the objective is for Heath Works, the installer and myself to please the client. How a company reacts to a complaint is how you separate the pros from the rest.I am in a service business also and stuff happens I never write bad reviews because every contractor has a bad day, they could care less once they got the check. To bad because there nice people and a nice showroom. There need to look at there low yelp reviews and make some changes.

We had a really bad experience with this store and particularly with the store manager Michael. He ordered the wrong components multiple times, which led to huge problems. We have spent countless hours trying to solve the problem over the last six months (!!!) but now have been told that part of the frame, which was built around the fireplace, has to be removed because Michael ordered the wrong components. As an alternative to this Michael gave us the option to have a front cover, which looks different than the one we wanted to have... very frustrating after spending more than $10,000 for frame and fireplace. But this is the most unbelievable thing: he actually wants to charge us for a restocking fee PLUS the fee for the new cover we never wanted. We now decided to give this to our attorney since I do not want to deal with these guys any more. CANNOT recommend to do business with them! Michael keeps on saying that the bad reviews online are from a time when he was not the store manager. This is not true - the level of incompetence is astonishing and it is paired with a shockingly low level of customer service.

Michael and Pat do a great job and I have bought a gas and wood burning insert from Hearthworks in North Reading. Prices are great, installers do super work, and if I have ever had a problem, they did everything in their power to make it right. I highly recommend them. They also have great outdoor furniture and accessories for the inserts.

My experience with Hearthworks store in N. Reading and their installer company Fireplaces Done Right was good. Michael Bergeron the store manager was our sales person. Purchased a Hearthstone, Clydesdale wood insert October,2015. A section of the cast iron surround came cracked out of the box. It took them a while to get a replacement from Hearthstone. When they came to install the replacement they kindly made some adjustments to the positioning of the insert per my request. Installers were extremely careful not to damage or scratch any delicate services. The insert is working great and I would recommend them to anyone in the area looking to purchase a fireplace insert.

Great prices and selection of stoves and heaters. Support and technical advice has always been spot on. The store is understaffed in my opinion but they always are helpful. Go midday.

Way back when I was shopping for a propane fireplace, I went that Other Store in Middleton, and they were beyond rude and not at all helpful. I subsequently went to HearthWorks in N. Reading and they helped me pick the perfect fireplace for my room, consulted with me on options, & all around were very helpful. Now, 18 months later, I just had a wonderful service experience with Hearthworks. Long story short, the addition of the room this went into took longer than expected, so the fireplace was purchased & then sat here at the house in storage for a year. By the time it was plumbed, I wasnt sure where the remote was or how to hook it up. I called the store and Mike was extremely helpful, and actually came out himself today to hook up the remote for me. While here, he adjusted the set-up a bit, making sure the draft was just right, adjusted the logs for optimal placement & everything is working perfectly and looks fantastic. Thank you!!

We have been to the store numerous times, spent thousands of dollars, and have to say the service is terrible. What really got me was that when trying to return a surround that went with a $700 unit (because it didnt fit), the attitude of the guy that worked there was very poor, and bordered on rude. The older gentleman tried to brainstorm a solution, while his younger counterpart was blunt and short. He simply said no returns. It had not been used or damaged. Maybe he is overwhelming and maybe this is policy, but after buying multiple units and receiving this service, I look forward to never going back. Unfortunately this is one of the only places nearby to buy some of the high end products, which is why we tolerated the service in the past. Not again.

Purchased an Enviro gas fireplace from Hearthworks North Reading; Michael recommended the unit after I explained the specifics of what we were looking for. Price was good and in-line with other fireplace dealers. Only hiccup I had was that the installers seemed to take a little longer than I would have liked to schedule installation, but once they did, they were quick, courteous and friendly and made sure I knew how to operate the unit after they left. I dont expect to be in the market for another fireplace unit anytime soon, but wouldnt hesitate to return to Hearthworks!

Very very pleased with hearth works in north reading .The salespersonal was very knowledgeable. Our order on our woodstove came in fast the guys they use for installing are super fast, clean and made sure they showed us all the ins and outs on how to operate the stove . I would highly recommend hearth works to all my friends and family and will use them myself again. GREAT JOB ALL AROUND

I had the best experience buying from Hearth Works from start to finish. After shopping a few places and having either rude or un knowledgable people to deal with. I found Hearth Works in North Reading. Michael could not be more professional or knowledgable. He, his staff and installers made this a no stress seamless purchase that was done in the time promised as well as a professional manner. What a place !!! If you dont buy your stove or any fire place items you need here, you are going to the wrong place. There is no place better. Bravo to everyone at Hearth Works, especially Michael.

Stay as far away from this place as possible. My unit was installed a month ago and is still not working since they never included a LP conversion kit on my order. The unit showed up with the wrong surround, say there for 2 weeks with no surround on it and is still waiting for the kit to be installed. They couldnt have cared less that they screwed up, took their sweet time in ordering, wouldnt pay to have it overnight shipped and then outsource installation and claim they cant schedule installation until it it confirmed in their warehouse. The part was supposed to be in the warehouse on Monday, on Wednesday I had to contact the installers, who hadnt been contacted yet by the warehouse guy that it was in. Installation was finally scheduled on Thursday for installation the following Tuesday! Called the owner who happens to be the salesmans father and got a call back from a customer service rep. On top of all of that I had to pay another $125 for the installation of the conversion kit because of the sales guy screwed up. Not an apology, not an offer to make it right nothing. Unfortunately I read the reviews on Yelp after I ran into issues. Never again. They have a location in Hooksett NH as well where Dad works. They were all service pre-sale, post sale the worst Ive dealt with in a long long time. Also note that one of the 5 stars reviews by Michael Bergeron is the Manager of the North Reading location!

The worst experience ever. They tried to make you feel bad for walking into their establishment and buying some wood pellets.I want to let you know that the dealer at 125 main st., north reading, ma, 01864 wouldnt sell me a ton of pellets even though he had them available. Instead of selling me a ton of pellets, he wanted to charge me by the bag at a higher price. I told him that I wanted to be a regular customer and that I burn 3 tons a years and spend $1000 a season. He didnt care and was upset that I didnt buy my pellet stove at his business.It seems to me that you have a pellet dealer with an attitude and puts his stoves and fireplaces ahead of selling the other products.

Got great info and salesman was not pushy - just very informative and helpful. Store was crowded with stuff and fun to wander
