Cozy place on the heart off Northampton with a menu to please everyone. Hand made fresh pasta is paired with your choice of sauce. Nice wine list and cocktails to pair with your food. Very friendly staff, the place offers plenty off sitting with a 2 floor set up. Is a must stop place if near the area.
So sad to see this place closing! I moved to Texas and when I visited my family in MA, all I wanted was good Italian food. I chose Viva Fresh Pasta and it was amazing as always. Im glad I got to experience it once more before it closed.
Great cozy place. You feel like you are in Italy. Love the sensual music and cozy atmosphere. Homemade pasta tortellini and all different kind of Italian food. Highly recommend.
A locally owned restaurant that makes its own pasta! Viva Fresh is one of my favorites. It is quite busy on a Friday night, but they take reservations. They have a nice wine and beer selection. They also have a downstairs that can accommodate large groups. The ground level entrance is wheelchair accessible, but may be too narrow for wide chairs. The food is very suitable for vegetarians and vegans. My favorite is the maple walnut ravioli. Finally, they have a small plate menu for those who want smaller portions. I usually do a small plate of the maple walnut ravioli and a cup of soup. 5/5
We took a group of six people to Viva during the very busy and crowded graduation weekend of Smith College. We had a reservation, and were seated immediately. All of the food we ordered was AMAZING!! (Everyone in our party was impressed). Even though the restaurant was crowded and busy, we didnt feel rushed. Our server was tremendous... She beautifully walked the very fine line of being attentive, without being annoying.
Viva is always a good meal, if a bit pricey. Theyve been in Northampton for a long time for good reason - Ive never had a bad meal here. And yes, the pasta is always fresh!
I was expecting a decent meal seeing as this place is often quite busy. Unfortunately it was terrible. Despite confirming our order twice my friend got the wrong soup.. and it was cold. We shared 3 main courses. Flavours were crude and either completely overwhelming or underwhelming without any delicacy. Ravioli tasted of dirt and the mussels were smothered in oil and sausage. I will never return. Portions and prices were fine.
I was oblivious to the fact that such quality pasta existed anywhere in Western Massachusetts. It is a tad expensive, but you easily get what you pay for with reasonably generous portion and a quality that literally makes my mouth water when thought about. The basil fettuccine alfredo is easily the best I have had in my life. I am excited to eat there again! The staff and the atmosphere were also quite pleasant.
This review pertains only to their fresh, uncooked pasta. I picked up some sheets to make a lasagna, and it was perfect. Their service was excellent, staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The interior of the restaurant was nice, and I wouldnt mind stopping by for a meal soon. When I do, Ill write a more comprehensive review.
Weve loved Viva for years. They just change their menu slightly and its definitely an improvement. Nice to see some fresh dishes. Well keep coming!
Love the food and atmosphere of the restaurant. The menu has good choices and the wine selection matches well with the food. Our one criticism was with our waitress. On introduction, she never mentioned her name and was not inviting, rule 1 broken. Also, bread was never brought to our table or offered, it was brought to the table next to us. One of my peeves is being rushed. During our meal we were not even finished with our first course and our main course was brought to us. This should never happen and in our case the restaurant we not busy at the time. May be this was a onetime instance, we came along way to dine here and this may prevent us from coming again. Restaurants are like football games, you must execute in all three phases of the game. I truly believe that service is just as important as the food and atmosphere.
Spent the entire day traveling throughout Western Massachusetts so the girlfriend and I opted for take-out. The food was exceptional - I ordered the gnocchi of the day and she had the warm spinach salad with salmon. I was very pleased with the meal though I will say the price was a bit excessive. For just those two meals, before the tip, it was $50. I will certainly return but not as often, thats a steep price.
Recently went here for the first time. I was so beyond impressed with both my food and service. Keep it up! We will absolutely be returning! Very nice intimate setting with a great wine selection
Great atmosphere and the food was amazing! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Cant wait to go back!
Had amazing service with an extremely friendly and helpful waitress! The food came out much quicker than youd expect from such a classy restaurant, and the food was unbelievable. Especially the garlic bread (with mozzarella)! Definitely go here if youre in the area!
Little Amherst hole in the wall. Tight quarters but great, fresh pasta. Moderately priced but if you like great pasta, this is the place.
The food was delicious. The wait staff was very attentive and kind. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Its worth every penny.
First time here since the change over from fresh pasta company many years ago. Enjoyed our meal. Was not very busy. Food came out in a timely manor. Would go here again if looking from some pasta.
Fabulous, fresh, house-made pasta! Cozy atmosphere with an upscale flare. Service was great. Seriously the BEST Bolognese around.
If you crave great pasta, go here. Plenty of delicious choices to choose from. The service is great, and the atmosphere is very comfortable.
Oh my god. This is legitimately the best pasta I’ve ever had. It was cooked to PERFECTION. The alfredo was to die for. Can’t emphasize enough just how amazing our meal was
The food was amazing, but the service was poor. The waitress actually rolled her eyes, not to mention left our glasses of water empty most of the meal. It could have ruined an expensive meal, but we decided to laugh about it instead.
Been here twice with family when visiting Northampton and love it. The fresh pasta is great and the customization options (different pastas, with different sauces, and proteins) make it even better. The black pepper fettuccine is my favorite there. Highly recommended.
Doesnt get better than this fresh homemade pasta. The various sauces whipped up here are top notch and will definitely delight you. This is a favorite stop when visiting Northampton
The atmosphere is delightful eclectic. The food is phenomenal. My family travel from Buffalo every year to Northampton and we ALWAYS have to stop to enjoy the cuisine at Viva Fresh Pasta!
Great food and exceptional service..fair prices and good portions..outside seating is beautiful especially at night. Romantic atmosphere in the downstairs seating area. Food is made with fresh ingredients and tasty desserts as well.
Loved the freshly made penne in tomato vodka sauce with a couple of meatballs. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Reservation necessary if before 7:00 on evenings when there are performances at theater across the street. Also best to park on other side of Main Street on weekends.
Very cozy little restaurant. Great ambience and aesthetics. Friendly and helpful staff. Had the linguine carbonara, which was made to perfection. The tiramisu was also delicious. Overall, easily five stars.
Had a great meal of wild mushroom rissotto and my companions cheese tortellini with pesto was also well received. I also got an eggplant soup on the advice of the waitress which was so-so. The service was pleasant and not pushy. I would definitely go back.
The waiter was awesome, the pasta was the best Ive ever had as well as the chicken. The prices are better than olive garden and the food was by too by a mile. Im a big pasta snob since thats the majority of what I eat and Im ashamed of my own cooking now. Its edible, but nothing has ever compared to here :)
Great freshly made past that day from hand. Good olives and ok wine selection. Only 2 tables (3-4 people a table) outside, but great people waching and the MAIN GATE to Smith Collage. P.S. Good pesto. ...
This restaurant is a lovely place to come and eat. Their sweet potato ravioli with maple walnut sauce and their artichoke heart ravioli sauté are both delicious. Waiters are courteous and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!
Fresh mushrooms over polenta. Perfect! And a real meatball on the side. Flavorful and satisfying. A great waiter who pours the very last drop out of your carafe.
We try to eat here once every 2 weeks. Ive never been disappointed my the food or service. This is a great place to bring people from out of town. Everyone will find something to eat.
It was amazing from the food to the ambiance to the service. Our waitress Beth was very helpful and charming. Will highly recommend this place.
Great food. They have a nice space with a lot more seating downstairs, so dont be discouraged if it looks crowded.
Ive been returning here at least once a month for the past six years, but my experience last night was extremely exceptional. I tried the chicken saltimboca dish but substitued pork instead. What a treat! Highly recommend.
Great food, great service. Love this place.
Great atmosphere, great service, and well put together food.
Great food, service and warm, friendly atmosphere!
My wifes and aunts dishes were great! I wasnt a fan of my chicken marsala. I will definitely go back.
I absolutely love this restaurant not only for dine in but for takeout! You can buy the fresh pasta to enjoy in your own home with some Romesco sauce—10/10. Seriously the only food/meal I ever crave. It is beyonddddd delicious. Highly recommend!!!
Was my favorite restaurant when it first opened years ago. Last time I went for lunch, I was given a menu with MAYBE ten options for entrees. The majority of the menu had maple walnut sauce. Nut allergies are very common. So now, Im able to choose between three entrees that I really dont want and our server basically says, yeah, thats the lunch menu sorry.Needless to say, we will never be back.
Excellent fresh pasta! And the lunch prices are very reasonable (for Northampton)
Fast service for a large group! Really delicious pasta and nice cozy space.
The arugula and fig pasta was so light and tasty. The service was great and the location couldnt be better.
Highly recommend !!!I love gnocchi and went specifically to try theirs.Tasty and cooked to perfection !! Great service...location and fine wines to chose from .
Great food. Excellent staff. Handsome Chef!
Great place, person and food. Best pasta I eat
Not much more to say except my wife and i go for our anniversary every year and any excuse to go back inbetween. great service food is amazing from someone who knows food.
The pasta was excellent, the bread, the wine and should I say anything more ?
At this visit, I got retail pasta to take home and make. Everything tasted great but they were out of my favorite pasta that I had wanted to get and prices definitely went up.
I ordered Polenta. It was terrible and totally inedible! Greasy and oily, not at all authentic Italian Polenta. Terrible food, high prices, will not go again
The pork marsala was delightful and the service was friendly and prompt.
This place is great! Ask for Beth - she is the best waitress on the planet!! Super efficient, knowledgable and friendly.
Delicious pasta made on the premises drenched in tasty sauces. A long time Noho favorite.
The Sweet Potato Ravioli with Maple Walnut Sauce is FABULOUS! Light with a nice sweet taste! Highly recommended
Weird..not good word atmosphere..a little pricey for the quality and portions
Great food, great service and great music need I say more... the manager is absolutely charming
Awesome food and service!! There was a mellow tone set and the menu had lots of choices for Italian lovers, I will definitely be coming back here when I get the chance.
Very nice restaurant, good wine selection and fresh pasta
I had a very poor experience here. I questioned a surprising charge I received on my bill (the waitress essentially snuck $7.50 garlic bread onto my order instead of a $1.50 baguette) and received a very rude lecture from the owner about the minimum wage is high and I should know this and thats why the price is high completely ignoring my actual problem. On top of that, I was not given change after paying my bill!
Really good food and clean place. I will be back soon with my family and friends
Friendly helpful staff, quick service and well prepared and conceived menu items, would not be good choice for handicap accessible needs. My only quibble would be paper napkins at a restaurant that ran $40 a person for my delicious meal.
Fantastic pasta restaurant, most dishes Ive hard here have been really good. My favorite so far has been the Tomato/Alfredo sauce on any of the pastas.
Perfect New Years Eve date. Cozy, good service, excellent food.
Incredible maple walnut sweet potato ravioli, and pumpkin cheesecake.
Great pasta, great atmosphere. Waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable.
They make their own pastas, several different varieties, and they are all delicious !! I love it here !!
Excellent service and food that is fresh, creative and delicious.
I am totally in love with their artichoke ravioli. I am only sad that its seasonal. The gorgonzola garlic bread is not to be missed!
Good menu and nice service
Prices have gone up, quality gone down and service was poor. It has been a mainstay for our family for special occasions but tonight was a big disappointment.
The food here is wonderful and a bit adventurous. We have made this our go to place for out of town guests.
The warm spinach salad is to die for! A cozy, wonderful, highly recommended place to eat dinner!
Very nice but expansive
Awesome food. Pleasant surprise.
Delicious! Flexible, tasty menu for nearly every diet.
Been going here since 1999. Sweet potato raviolis with their garlic sauce is to die for.
Super nice staff and great food.
Very quaint, excellent waitstaff, food delicious
Simply delicious pasta! Hot bread is heavenly!
Delicious pasta choices. If you are in NoHo you should stop in.
The waitress was super nice and the food was fantastic
Nice waitstaff, but menu is really pretentious. You cant order typical Italian meals. No chicken parm, spaghetti and meatballs, etc. No spaghetti period. No regular ziti, or penne--just gluten free penne. There was only one other party in there, but somehow it still took 40 minutes to get my food. The server was really nice and tried to accommodate me for chicken parm, but the cook didnt pull it off at all. Yuck. There was a party of 4 in there, talking a lot of intellectual bs and really enjoying hearing themselves talk. Thats the kind of customers this place is made for.
Dishes are good but didnt impressing me.
Really poor experience. The service was very slow and the staff made us nervous. The food was bland and overpriced. I got the fettuccine with figs and goat cheese, the pasta was overcooked and the figs lacked flavor. It felt like it was just thrown together at the last minute.
Went two days in a row. Amazing food and friendly staff.
I loved the food and quality, I wrote siting inside the restaurant I couldnt wait to provide feedback!!!
Nice place, good food but dont go downstairs to sit because is so loud when people are talking at the same time that it gave me a headache.
Excellent food and appealing ambiance.
Great food. Very fresh
Amazing pasta. No liquor license.
Great food nice hole in the wall
The freshly made pasta and unique sauces made our lunch suprisingly delicious and different
Great dishes and atmosphere
Besides the friendly and efficient service?...and the charming atmosphere?...and the delectable menu choices?...the fresh pasta was exquisite!
Food and service was excellent!
