This is my go-to place for grocery shopping. The store is huge, everything is organized and you’ll always almost find what you’re looking for. I come here once a week to stock up on groceries. The prices are decent and there’s wide selection of items from fresh produce, to meats, frozen foods and dairy along with a bakery section. You’ll almost always find the item you’re looking for or you’ll find an alternative but you won’t leave empty handed. The prices are also reasonable. The staff is friendly and all the necessary precautions are in place regarding this COVID situation. Masks are compulsory and all the shopping carts are sanitized after use. Overall, I always have a good experience in this store with their goods & services.

During this pandemic a lot of grocery stores have slipped in providing the customers with clean wiped down shopping carts .... but not Big Y in Norwood anytime I go early, mid day, or late, there staff are greeting you and wiping carts. This is a reflection Im sure of the management team. Just want ti say thanks.I quit stop and shop in walpole it used to be my go too storePrices went too high ... cleaning has been forgotten

Big Y Market offers a great selection of foods, baked goods and other standard foods. What sets them apart is their selection of hot prepared foods from pizza, to sea foods to pasta dishes.I have been to many functions where the host will get the ready to eat foods for the party - including a huge party pizza and it is consistently excellent. The staff is friendly and helpful. The tone of the store is local with a focus on community.

Its a grocery store not much can be said about it. They keep the shelves stocked and they seem to make sure that the expired food comes off the shelf which is why I shop here over going to shaws.

Parking lot is dangerous at this location. Stop signs are only painted on the ground only. They cant be seen with snow on the ground. Standing signs should be added. Also if you park in the second to last row by Planet Fitness, people speed around that blind corner. The property owner needs to be notified.

Ok but they need more cashiers open. Only two cashiers and one is 14 or less. Thats why I never go in there. Stop & Shop has 12 self serving ones open and 4 to 6 real cashiers at 4:30 pm on a weekday. Its to bad I enjoy the bake goods at the big y - but I dont have 2 hours to kill on the way home from work.

Pa
Review №17

Prices are better than most grocery stores. I kind of like that it is not a behemoth super store that takes 2 hours to get through. Considering its size (this location only) the selection is still pretty decent.

Very nice selection and clean store,But employees and management is not very attentive or helpful. My better half always buys with her food card and then I give her my credit card to supplement when she goes over. Not once not twice but three times she has tried to pay with her food card and then credit? The cashier did not know how to do the transaction! It was not just one cashier but three different cashiers!!!So that tells me the employees are not being trained correctly and each time this happen management was no where in site to help diffuse the situation!I’m sorry I like the store but three strikes you’re out!!

Will never go back to this awful store. They tried to charge me for bags?! I get that reusable bags are better, and I use them if I have them, but Big Y is the only supermarket charging .10 a bag. They have a terrible selection, produce is often rotten, store is dirty. They also are one of the few supermarkets that wont put in a card for the sale price for you if you dont have one, and theyre terribly overpriced. A few times they didnt even ask for a card, then when I spoke up after, they said it was too late. I had to get a manager, they gave me a gift card for $25, then I did the math, and it should have been $30. I cant wait for them to be replaced by a good supermarket.Edit: Big Y tries to take the high road, but it is BS. Unless you are donating that .10 towards Green causes, then you are profiting off of this practice and your words are hollow.

This place went down hill when it became Big Y, in my opinion. We shopped here exclusively when it Hannafords for all but the more specialized things. Now, literally every staple we shopped for is no longer on the shelves. They Also moved things around to weird places. Your results may vary, but weve switched to Stop and Shop. It should be noted that the cashiers are always friendly and helpful, though. Its clearly a management issue.

Sh
Review №35

My husband and I had been shopping at the Hannaford for 5 years before it recently switched to Big Y, and all I can say is what a disappointment, especially in terms of prices. There is at least a 20% mark up on the same items that we bought consistently every week when it was under Hannaford management. And the meat we typically bought is DOUBLE! Also, not all the items we usually bought were available, but that was a more minor issue (I realize they just opened, so perhaps inventory variety will increase). I will say that the seafood section looked pretty decent as there was a good variety of different types of fresh, wild caught options. The bizarre coin game is ridiculous. We are simply trying to go grocery shopping, not looking to play arcade games. Who wants to carrying around coins?! This is 2016...people dont even normally carry cash in general. In my understanding of how the coin savings work, they arent even worth it as the items that are available for discounted prices with use of the coins are not items we would even purchase (like unhealthy foods, such as chips, cookies, processed stuff). We basically just threw away that coin.Overall, a major disappointment and way more expensive. We will definitely be shopping elsewhere now, which is upsetting as the location was pretty convenient. I suppose nothing good truly lasts these days.

This Big Y is conveniently located, friendly staff, well managed- only wish there were more gluten free, organic, and plant-based eating options in the prepared or prepackaged section of store. Depressing replacement for Hannafords. Such a disappointment as regards products, pricing and service. It was a nice little supermarket now I find it overpriced and inconvenient (dislike having to use a store card in order to save) and whom ever conceived and also then sanctioned the slots game and those damned nuisance coins should be brought before a firing squad. I would much prefer in store sales. If I want to gamble Ill go to a casino, thank you very much. Now if winning a coin would let you save immediately, say 3% off your order for hitting a gold coin, THEN we could talk. But until then I will either go to Shaws in Norwood or up to Stop and Shop in Walpole.

Advertise wrong items, if you need to get the sales you must get in as early as you can. When run out they dont restock and you have to come back first thing in the morning. Some items have no rain check. I cannot trust on this supermarket. To get what you see on the flyer you have to take chance.
