Honestly was not the best experience. I got hassled by one of the employees for not putting a mask on my baby (because forcing a baby to wear a suffocation hazard is acceptable now?). The store also does not contain a very diverse collection of books and much of their literature is aimed towards very specific topics and agendas. On the whole, not a very well-rounded collection available and the employees are placing unrealistic and dangerous expectations on pint-sized patrons.

Words cant possibly describe how important Book Beat is to the community. Owners Colleen and Cary have created a warm, welcoming atmosphere for readers of all ages to come, explore, and select their just right book. Staff is knowledgeable and will help you find (or order) what you need. Colleen/Cary workhand-in-hand with schools, libraries, and other organizations to support reading in the community, and even provide opportunities for readers to meet authors. Have I mentioned they have the best greeting card selection youve ever seen??? Just... go there and support local!!

Book Beat has books books books books they have everything tarot cards decks of cards they have African art photograph picture books educational books documentaries rare finds and if they dont have it they can order it doing the pandemic is a great time to catch up with your reading if you love to read and the lady here was very very nice to me and shes very welcoming and you will be happy to meet her and order books happy reading is fun to be smart

Okay. So I own a classic bookstore in our little town in Michigan and I *love* to discover new, cool bookstores. Im a big fan of John King in Detroit and Totem Books in Flint -- but I had never heard of Book Beat. Oh.my.goodness -- what a COOL store! I cant wait to visit again. I found treasures and even shopped for some of my finicky collector customers. Chatting with the owner was as awesome as the store itself. It is a browsers dream. I wished I could have hung out for hours! Do not miss this Michigan gem.

This place is crammed with books (good thing). I wish the African American Fiction section was bigger. I was not greeted by staff until I had been in the store for some time. They do feature some local authors and can order a book if they do not have what you are looking for in stock.

I love this store! It is a little overcrowded making it a bit difficult to maneuver when inside but they literally have everything, and my son loves it too. We go at least once a month to get something new.

I asked BookBeats staff to order a book for me to give as a Christmas gift. They got it in 3 days. No muss. No fuss. When Ive ordered books from Barnes and Noble or Amazon, its taken forever to get them AND Ive had to pay postage. From now on, Im buying all of my books at the BookBeat.

Was visiting family and happened to find the gem of a bookstore. It was great, and has a great collection of African American bookstores and ART. Wish they had one in my city.
