Formerly the Easy Bay location for the Cafe Trieste in San Francisco, this coffee shop/cafe by day, /wine and beer bar with great oven pizza by night is a local favorite. Love be music some evenings, really lively and fun. Located on the shopping street Piedmont Avenue, there are local shops all along the street to explore. Definitely a chill place to grab a bite, grab a little table, inside or out, and just hang out.
Stopped in here while waiting for my girlfriend who had an appointment at the nearby Kaiser. I walked past a lot of places to get here and I am glad I did.The inside felt cozy and comfortable, the kind of place you want to get a coffee & a pastry, sit down with a book and waste a few hours. It is going to take time to prepare your drink, longer than the big chains but you cant rush a good coffee you know. They had a nice selection of pastries that all looked good but I was here for lunch. I grabbed a menu which had a lot of options available. Pasta, pizza, breakfast foods, sandwiches and paninis. I ordered a double latte and the turkey and bacon panini. After getting my latte I headed out to the back patio to await my food.I didnt need to wait long for the food to come out. It had a nice little salad on the side that I wasnt expecting, some pickles and some peppers. The panini was excellent, the bread nice and crunchy and just enough of the aioli so that it wasnt overpowering. The very simple salad made an excellent side for this panini. Just some leafy greens and dressing. The latte was was great, really hit the spot. Overall a very satisfying experience. If I lived in Oakland I might consider making this a regular stop but alas I do not live here.
Great sandwiches - this time a BLT.with avocado: perfect presentation, quick service at midday Sunday, pleasant little salad alongside. Best sandwich ever!
I am so disappointed. This use to be my favorite and I would come here weekly. I can tell you a few things that changed. This avocado breakfast is super greasy. The egg use to be sunny side and almost cooked like it was poached. The bread was overcooked amd the potatoes are no longer the purples, reds, and light brown medley with rosemary seasoning. I also use to have arugula included as a garnish and the presentation use to be so much better. I would have rated them a 4.5 if they still told their chef to prepare it the way they use to.The customer service was just....blah. The bartender never smiled and didnt even look people amd make a connection.
Meet your date here. Multiple options for food and drink and a charming atmosphere with a cost patio.
Best Alfredo I’ve had in awhile. First time tried with bacon, what a great touch. Ordered it takeout, food was hot and timely upon arrival. Thank you!
Great little cafe. Along with all the coffee drinks, they have paninis and really nice pastries and baked desserts. Theres indoor and outdoor seating.
I had the rigatoni with marinara sauce. I enjoyed it. Staff was very friendly, food priced reasonably. Will visit again.
Really liked the outside dining experience Waiter didnt speak much English but we seemed to get communication across very nice and helpful. Good portions could not finish ate the rest for lunch.
Good serviceFood was OK. We ordered breakfast. Scramble eggs and the eggs were hammered. They were over cooked. 🙈
They closed 750 pm. I will get pizza next time. Its v v good!
Caesar salad was not that good. the chicken was over cooked and the dressing was mostly mayo.
Consistently good food and service and wonderful atmosphere.
Thank you for the coffee and cheesecake 😊
In the tradition of Cafe Trieste, the coffee is excellent, the pastries are the best. The Italian food, pasta and pizzas are delicious. My Dad loved the spaghetti and meatballs. They have great family meal deals. Prices are reasonable and the staff are super and are always courteous. And did I say, its a great place to read a real book!
Cutle little cafe with REALLY tasty food!!
Nice place to have a coffee and a croissant
Good morning spot. Safe clean friendly, good food n drinks.
Awesome place with pleasant outdoor seating (despite being next to a parking lot), tasty food in generous portions that are well priced, and (in non-Covid times) live music!
Great Mocha!
Great food, pleasant atmosphere. Regulators place I go to.
Like the outdoor seating, casual vibe, neighborhood.
Nice decor and simple but tasty menu. Food tasted fresh and high-quality. Prices were reasonable.
Javier is amazing! I love getting coffee and food here! I mostly come here for breakfast however the pastas are good too.
Going to this cafeDuring Covid-19Just isnt the same!!! Good food.
This is a lovely little spot. Small but cozy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was live music when we went which was a very lovely background to our meal. The family dinner is a great value and the perfect amount for two. Ill definitely be bringing my friends here next time Im craving delicious, reasonably priced Italian.
This place is great. It is part of a mini-mall in back of Piedmont Avenue near a theater we were waiting to go see a movie. The coffee was fresh and so were the pasteries. Im sure there were many locals who come here all day.My friends and I will be back again when were in the area. The parking was free which was an added plus.
Loved it, good quality food preparation, customer service, honest true Americans gucing thier best. Thank You!
Lots of tables, inside and out to enjoy eating your breakfast, lunch or dinner. Great pizza special, plus a nice variety of dishes on their menu. Desserts looked tempting. Barista coffee, Italian ices, beer and wine.
This used to be the Piedmont Ave location of Cafe Trieste. The layout and menu are pretty much as they were, but the prices are higher. Still, good espresso, pretty good food (especially the breakfasts), and a good place to hang out.
This is a nice place easy place. The problem is that on Sunday night there are so many people on their laptops taking up all the tables and none seemed to eating or drinking anything. The deserts are great and have great dinner specials for families. Also on weekends they have nice a mix off music.
Family pizza deal?! So good!! Perfect quick and tasty Italian cafe in a great location. Will come back!
Typical coffee house atmosphere. Good selection of pastries. Menu varied: Italian entrees mostly, some sandwiches. Quality of food okay, nothing to write home about.
Best coffee!
An adorable spot in LA near the Koreatown area. I decided to check it out and was presently surprised by the fairly reasonable prices. I ordered a matcha latte with almond milk which had adorable latte art on top and tasted delicious! There is a fair amount of sitting space inside the cafe, but there is also an outdoor patio area to the side that is covered in greenery. It felt like being in a forest or jungle and it was so cool! I recommend coming here if youre looking for a quaint spot to do your work in or to just try out some good coffee!
Cozy warm spot with great nearby paid parking and delicious food. I ordered The chefs special and was NOT disappointed. Although it was pretty busy, I had my food within 10 minutes. Luis, the chef, if you read this, you are very good. Thank you.
I had the lasagna delivered and it was excellent. Im excited to try more items in the future, hopefully in person.
Avocado toast (w/egg) was delicious! Home fries were great too, very flavorful. Cold brew coffee was delicious as vegan donuts!
I love any panini there. Bread is crunchy with every bite and soft and tasty inside. Coffee late is always has a heart on the surface
Delicious...everything on the menu looks good
One of the great parts of the neighborhood. Staff, food and beverages that please.
It was good and has always been good.
Love this place!! Come here almost on a daily basis most of the times. Its a one stop coffee, food, dessert place. They also have live music a few times a week.
One of my favorite local stops. Perfect pot of hot tea everytime and yummy food. The sweets are to die for too. Nice atmosphere and even better counter service.
Friendly service outdoor socially distant seating.
Their coffee is delicious! You dont have to order ridiculous drinks like a caramel macchiato to make their coffee palatable. A traditional cappuccino requires no additives. No sugar, no chocolate, and certainly no caramel. Their pastries are amazing as are their savory dishes. Even when they are busy, the friendly and efficient staff will not make you wait long for your caffeine.
Im always impressed & at ease when I come into this cafe. The food, coffee, wine, breads & backed goods, and atmosphere is outstanding here. It tends to get crowded at times but its definitely a place worth visiting to either socializing or going for good coffee/food. Love this place!
This is my second time here. There coffee is good and ambiance is okay....if your wondering what I ordered i got Amwricano and a friend macchiato. Price is reasonable. Only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because this place do not take Apple Pay...they only do Samsung Pay.
Great atmosphere, good people watching. Got a breakfast burrito, which was a little bland, but Ive gotten some great other dishes here. Solid cappuccino!
Just lovely food! Try the biscuits, you wont regret it!
Really yummy matcha, and all plates are great. Favs are caprese salad, brioche French toast and vegetable frittata.
Classic café ambience with excellent coffee. Heres the weird part: They have a full menu and the food is EXCELLENT. Their Chefs Scramble may be the most delicious breakfast in Oakland. I talked to a couple who get spaghetti and meatballs at least once a week.Noisy.Oh, and they usually watch local sports events on a large screen.
Great coffee shop with nice food options. They also have beer and wine, so its a great place to hang out or meet friends.
A little over priced and a lot over sold. Just had the breakfast special today for 18 bucks, and did not get that kind of value. It was only OK. The fruit was under ripe, the cheese was processed, and the biscuit was dry. All typical restaurant corner cutting. The local is great, but tables rock and chairs are only so so. The kitchen staff is friendly and efficient in contrast with the counter staff which acts indifferent and hurried, spouting empty polite phrases that are just going through the motions. Hardly the place it was before and not that special. I suggest Gaylords across the street where the welcome is real and so is the coffee and food.
Sitting was tight. Customers done w their eating would stay limber w laptops . Croissant was good
Not much Variety in food options. Pretty blase coffee drinks
The live music is, well, interesting, but worth visiting. Really good cakes.
The cookies that are kept on the counter taste like my Grandma Omis. Worth a weekly trip. Theyre Natural and sweet!
Nice place, cozy interior and good drinks. I like that it has a back patio area and some parking. Its rare to find a good place with a parking lot in Oakland, so Ill probably be back
Of coffee or to have a meal.Great little cafe, good sandwiches, pastries. A good place to sit with a cup
Nice people, great coffee and pastries, classic coffeeshop with a surprisingly excellent kitchen.
Excellent breakfast. Cool vibe.
Great neighborhood cafe that is good for working, hanging out, or eating. Their menu has a little of everything, making it a good all-purpose spot. And service is super friendly.
Good spot to grab an espresso..wife loved the key lime pie
A family favorite café. We love the classic old café feel with old wooden tables and chairs. Always feels vibrant. Local art for sale decorates the walls. Food is always delicious. Lots of pastries to choose from. We also love their family dinner specials: One pizza or pasta dish, two soups, two salads. Nice outdoor seating, too!
Had a really good hash breakfast and nice service
One of the few coffee shops that stays open late around here, it feels like. Its not my favorite type of space - lots of chairs and tiny tables scattered around, it feels like an obstacle course just to get to the counter to order. That said, theyve got some tasty food options and pastries and the employees are always kind. The tea choices are plentiful and coffee is made in chemex pots (but maybe not as chemex is supposed to be done?). Seating outside is nice (and a little less cramped)
Old school vibe. Cafe is not their strongest serving, but hey - they are nice and cool with laptop people and the vibe is good so 5 stars :)
It was pretty good, the food was amazing and I loved how they had chips you can get yourself on the side. The atmosphere was also really nice.
Great staff great food some crazy people but its Berkeley love it
The atmosphere was not great, and the menu selection left a lot to be desired. The tables tend to wobble, a real drawback in a cafe that serves coffee. You notice it. They played classic rock as background music, and it was not a good choice.
Excellent spaghetti marinara mushrooms olives ... Best Ave in Town .
Great place to have a relaxing breakfast or enjoy a cappuccino while working on a project. The Lox bagel is delicious, and the pizza is pretty good at night too!
Good tea (have not tried their coffee), good service. They have a typical argentinean sweet (alfajor - they claim it is homemade, but I challenge that, since they are 100% of a brand called Havana. Regardless, its a great sweet/cookie to get with your coffee/tea). Will repeat
Good food. Dark interior. Grungy outdoor seating. Pleasant staff.
Great location on Piedmont Ave., right next to the parking lot. Cheap coffee and a nice place to work. Friendly staff.
Salads are really good. Pizza is a bit greasy. I tried the Napolean dessert and found it a bit stale. Great location for people watching on the avenue. They have outdoor seating both on the avenue side as well as the back side.
Great sandwiches and nice cappuccinos.
So damn good. Learned today that they cure their own meats, so be sure to check the specials board. Capicola and Cubano are stand outs for this salty pig parts lovin guy.
I think they make the best lattes on Piedmont Ave. Its a cafeteria style affair where you walk up to the counter and place your order. The pastries are delicious--everything from bread and croissants to fruit tarts and tiramisu. Theyve got multiple angles going: great place for a morning coffee or full egg breakfast, great place for an evening beer and panini. Theres a small TV they often use to show sporting events at night, but its very unobtrusive. Anytime I need to meet someone on Piedmont Ave, we go here. Its got something for every taste.
Good musicians, Gypsy Jazz Band I think.
Their cakes are very good
We liked this place. It has a great atmosphere and ok food. The service was fine. Its great to get a table near the window (day or night) and people watch. Piedmont street is a very young and hipsterish.
The coffee was great and cakes were enjoyed.
Forgot to toast my bagel but did replace it right away nice people busy place
Always great food. Great staff and great location.
Best spaghetti and meatballs in the East Bay, but make sure you order early as they always run out! Good selection of desserts.
The best lattes, and OJ! The outdoor seating is a great place to have a beer.
Great live music, great food and baked items, and decently priced drinks.
Lovely place, delicious food and great music from 7 to 9 pm ; )
Drink are ok and food is good. Tapas style and servings are decent size.
Love the live music, pizza and company 🤩
Yummy foods, good selection...taste coffee!
Friendly low key neighborhood joint with decent food and choices.Daily breakfast specials and dinner specials. They have a happy hour from 3 to closing with a food and drink pairing.Central location in the middle of Piedmont Avenue with the parking lot right behind. Great location you can sit and people-watch.They also have a good selection of desserts from local specialty bakeries. Beer and wine available as well as full espresso and coffee options. They also have free Wi-Fi. Tables are generally small 2-3 people although you can move tables together.
Nice and quaint.
