After waiting 45 minutes, we received the wrong order. Went back to let them know we ordered an ice coffee not warm, the man handed us a cup of ice. The man was rude and replied “we charge more for an extra cup with ice” don’t go to this place. Btw the coffee tasted like water, highly highly don’t recommend. Just go to the Starbucks in the Safeway, better service and better coffee.

Usual awesome Philz! This one gets super busy on weekends though so expect a 30min+ wait for your coffee if you order online or in person.

I felt like my morning needs energy, so I went to this shop near my condo unit. As I entered, the waiters and waitresses looked very pleasant, decent, and accommodating. They even greeted good morning to me in a respectful way. Meanwhile, after one of the waiters gets my order, I sat down in their clean and well-organized seat. As I roamed my eyes, I found out that the entire coffee shop was nice and beautiful to look at. Also, the coffee and the other foods that I ordered were tasty and yummy. I will come back. Thanks!

I am a special education teacher and I Just moved here from San Diego to work with students with special abilities. We take our dogs everywhere for support. Apparently service dogs arent allowed here at Philz Coffee in Oakland? The service woman Kelli who tried to take the order today scrutinized my dog and asked for his vest. We carry his card in my purse. Needless to say I will never set foot at this Philz or any location ever again. I turned around and left.We walked kne block and went to Petes coffee. They were incredibly dog friendly and also offered us a puppachino.

Philz is unlike any other coffee place youll go to. Dont be like me and walk in not knowing this and ask for an Americano -- they dont do that here. What they DO do however is make excellent and flavorful coffee by the cup. Always fresh and something for everyone. Highly recommend.

This was truly the best cup of coffee Ive ever had. I ordered a decaf americano and forgot to tell them I wanted milk...I just thought Id add it later. But they mix it for you, so they kindly redid the coffee for me and mixed in the milk. SO DELICIOUS! I highly recommended this place.

I love to go to this Philz’s. Staffs are super friendly and knowledgeable. They looked happy to work there, and spend time to explain customers for their best cup of coffee experience.The truth is, IT IS the best cup of coffee experience.It still surprises me whenever have the first sip of coffee. Beautiful girl, Armani, helped me today. I had misplaced my order at the Fremont store, she was delightful and so funny and assured us they’d make my order without a problem. Tips for ordering ahead; do not expect them to read the notes. Allow an extra five minutes beyond your stated pick-up time for preparation. Expect another several minutes’ wait because there’s only one person allowed inside, and the entitled yuppie mother is still fiddling with her purse. Bring spare change for the people who will solicit you while you’re waiting in the cold outside.(And yes, the coffee is always worth waiting for👍🏽 Tip generously.)

I tried the mint mojito and their honey latte. Both amazing. The mint mojito was cold and refreshing. The latte was like a warm hug. I had very little honey in order to truly taste their coffee and I was not disappointed. Their coffee is bold and smooth.Ive become a huge fan of oat milk in my coffees. Im not lactose intolerant or vegan, I just prefer the taste and how it blends so well with the flavor of coffee. If you havent tried oatmilk in your coffee, I recommend trying it. Id love to know what you think once youve tried it.After reading some reviews, I must have timed it PERFECTLY because there was NO line to order when I arrived in the middle of the day. Waited maybe 10 mins to get my drink, but the atmosphere was so lively outside with people happily chatting and fun music playing I did not mind it one bit.

This location is about 2 years old now and is located across from the neighborhood anchor, Cole Coffee. There is less seating here than other locations, so youll often fight for a table (which conveniently have outlets running down the center), or find yourself in line out the door. Most of the time, I come at off peak hours after or before the morning and evening rush.The trash/compost is located to the right of the line, so its a bit awkward navigating your way through the queue. The Oaklandish baristas are diverse and usually upbeat.Be sure to grab the special pound bag of coffee roast for the month ($14 vs the $18 full price). I order what I usually do: spiced Philz bagel on sesame and a Jacobs/Mocha Tesora, or mint iced mojito medium sweet and with cream.

Be prepared to wait. Coffee was good but music was loud.

Best coffee spot all around. I tried their valentine special and to me it was similar to a Minto Mojito but with strawberry instead of mint. Interesting combination.

I really like Philz. Enough to wait 15 minutes just to order and another 7 to get my coffee. In the last few months this Philz location has become painfully slow. Even with only a few people in line in front of me, the wait is still consistently 10 minutes just to order. I think it might be because they had an entire staff turn over. Interesting.

I love this place. One of the best coffees in the Bay. They only do pour over so if youre looking for a latte, go somewhere else. But they really know what theyre doing, and the flavors of coffee are great.

Quick note for anyone who hasnt yet tried Philz: there is a lot of caffeine so you may do well with a size smaller than youre used to 😋 also, if youve never tried it, order a coffee Philz way.

They make each cup individually. Its always been perfect. I drink black coffee and mochas. No bitter taste. Very friendly service. I go out of my way to get a Philz!

Fantastic, but crazy busy! Lots of seating and plentiful outlets for charging. Food took a looong time to come out (PB, jam toast), but coffee turnout rate is typical for Philz, not too bad. Very good baristas, perfect sweet and creamy coffees! Coffee selection is fantastic, personal recommendations being the iced mint and iced rose. Lots of natural lighting from windows and there is a restroom available.

Reasonably priced reasonable coffee - maybe Im getting the wrong brews but the coffee comes off as a bit acidic if you get it black.The rating is just based off the coffee though - the folks working there easily deserve 5 stars, theyre kind and helpful and upbeat, well, enough for a customer-facing job like this - reason enough to appreciate the place

This is my go-to Philz in Oakland, it’s such a cool environment with great staff. Lots of seating, both indoor and outdoor, and plenty of outlets. Plus, because of its proximity to Berkeley, it gets a ton of spillover from college students heading over to study so it’s a good and quiet work environment.

Philz is always delicious and a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a hipster coffee shop vibe. This particular coffee shop has indoor and outdoor seating available making it the perfect place for anything meetings, studying, or just people watching! Each cup of coffee is made to order and precisely the way you want it. Try the Mint Mojito! You will not be disappointed.

Best coffee in town in my opinion, but its often crowded with little to no open seating. There is outdoor seating though. Think the prices are high but I guess thats what you get for a good coffee.

My favorite place to get coffee, ever. Coffee flavors that are out of this world with cheap prices (you can bring in your own cup/mug of whatever size and theyll only charge you for a small which is 3$) means Philz is 10x better than any of its competitors. If you want a suggestion, try Ambrosia of the Gods and youll immediately understand the greatness that is Philz Coffee.

My drink was good, but I was ridiculed by a barista for not knowing which drink was mine in a row of four drinks. After successfully guessing which drink was mine, the barista proceeded to applaud in a condescending manner. Not sure if she was having a bad day, but horrible customer service.

18 minutes for an iced coffee and sandwich. I’ll try Cole, Starbucks, Peet’s or home next time.

Love the Ethiopian Decaf but this video visit I had to wait 10 minutes before giving my order. The barista was making coffee for a foursome when I came to the front of the line. So he was tied up with them and couldnt serve me right away. What made matters worse was that there was a woman emptying garbage while I was waiting. And there was another employee who seemed to only work the cash register. Neither one stopped what they were doing to take my order. If I didnt love the Ethiopian Decaf I would have went to the coffee cafe across the street. To me this gives the wrong optics. It appears that the customer is not the #1 priority when the customer is waiting and there seems to be two employees who could serve the customer.

Pros: very good coffee, best chain around. Friendly and competent staff (although maybe hyper caffeinated at times). Cons: expensive, loud and chaotic atmosphere (funny how students still study there though).

Philz rewards eco friendliness by always charging you for a small when you bring your own mug, and the staff are always on their customers service game.

Be prepared to bounce off the walls if you go overboard. This coffee is NOT for caffeine rookies. Definitely good, strong coffee...But the mint. No, with the mint thing. Unless you particularly enjoy the taste of spearmint gum and stronger than strong coffee. Which I definitely do not. I thought, Maybe... Stop being a coffee prude and try something new. They recommend it and its in so many of their blends. No. By the time I fished out the wilted mint leave the whole cup of coffee was all minty and... Ugh... Minty coffee. Gross. You hipsters can keep that one.But other than that...
