Always the best! Well organized shop, friendly and helpful staff that can answer just about any comic questions. Some comic shops can feel intimidating to new readers, if thats you, Cape and Cowl is a great place to go to get into comics. They have a great variety of stories and styles, and always seem to have the #1 books Im looking for to start an older series, as well as a huge selection of current runs. They carry a lot of different books, but if youre a Batman person in particular theyve 100% got you covered. Also the app is great for subscribing to a run so you dont have to worry about missing out on a new run or the next issues! They also have a punch card for a free 10th book! Fantastic comics store with great recommendations from staff. They have a nice kids comic book with low shelves for munchkins. Most importantly, they enforce a mask mandate to protect our littlest heroes!

Great place to order online from. Got some good key issues for cover price (Nice House on the Lake #1, Avengers #2, A-Force #8 Rahzzah Variant). Also scored a nice store exclusive, Stray Dogs #2 Cape And Cowl Comics Exclusive Ramon Villalobos Variant. Purchased a Bob Ross plush which currently hangs at my job. Awesome place that will continue to get my business.

Probably the greatest staff of any Comic Store I’ve been to! The head of the crew looks like Ant-Mans brother! Besides changing heights he’s super helpful! He got me into reading/studying Green Lantern and a few other great reads. They have a great selection of POP toys, back issues, posters, shirts and my favorite .... Enamel Pins!!! They support local artists and throw events often! No doubt the best around! Salute

This store has the most helpful and friendly staff that Ive ever seen, therefore the best store by default. Plus, they keep their shelves very organized, which makes it easier to browse around and find what you were looking for.

Ive been a customer off and on in the four years Ive been in Oakland. Since the lock-down, the way the store is run has obviously changed. Unfortunately, it has been for the worst.No one is able to assist when youre unable to get into the website after youve lost and changed the password. (This is probably an issue they had before the lock-down, but then you could just go in-person and get what you need). They have another site, Comic Hub, which I was told was used to buy items from the store as well as pre-order....but then I was recently told it was ONLY for pre-orders.For a time, I was able to have items I wanted added to Comic Hub when I called in and told them my issue with their official website -- Kevin would help me with this. However, more recently one of their other employees would insist I go on their official website and order items even after I explain my issues; it would be specified by this employee that Comic Hub was only for pre-orders...as aforementioned.When I would further seek assistance, as a customer -- how else would I get my comics, other than going to another store that wont have you jump through hoops? -- he told me to the effect, in a tone I didnt deem professional: Im busy. I have other people here and there are only two of us.As a person who worked customer service (and still does to a degree) I can understand multitasking and stress (if thats what it was), but youre also a problem solver. This person didnt care to solve my problem.I spoke to the manager/owner Eitan and told him about my experience and how I felt I needed to take my business elsewhere.He was dismissive as well.Fortunately, there are various comic stores online (including those in the Bay Area) where I can get the comics I seek.

I have been to a bunch of Comic shops in many different cities and this has been one of the best. The shop was easy to navigate and had kid friendly material up front and easy to find. My daughter found a new favorite series and finished her book right away. Staff recognized me after coming back a second time. Great attention to detail! Next trip to Oakland I will definitely drop in again.

This is an amazing shop. I popped in after a business lunch just because it was close (Im here for the weekend). WOW. There are different shelves filled with various themes (Staff Selections, Pride-related content, new graphic novels, etc.). Ive rarely seen a shop so expertly and neatly curated. I found several books Id never seen, and winnowed it down to two purchases. The staff gave honest reviews of each - which supported my choices. I cant wait to go next time Im in the Bay Area!

I go out of my way while in town to make sure to stop at Cape and Cowl. The selection is really great and the staff was really welcoming and warm. I really love this joint. Definitely worth stopping by if youre into comics or want to get into the medium.

Great comic shop ran by a pretty cool dude. This shop has it all! I love the surrounding community. Plenty of reasons to stop in and check out Cape and Cowl. They also put on many events, including signings with some of the top creators in the comic industry. This is one of my favorite shops and i highly recommend!

Very cool comic book store. They had a wide range of comics to pick from, as well as many figurines and other cool items to sort through. The workers there were all polite and nice. Pretty standard comic book store prices. All in all a pleasant comic book store experience.

Lovingly, expertly staffed, you will feel welcome at all times. Feels like a real community in there. I always discover stuff to buy that makes a good fun gift for my employees.

Great local shop for comic books and pop culture items like figurines. The owner is very knowledgeable about the products and culture of the comic world. The store inventory has really grown over the years. It went from a few shelf of things to a fully stock wall to wall of great cools items.

Always a great experience! Great selection of new comics, graphic novels and toys. Not a huge selection of back issues to be had but the space is limited so I understand. This place doesnt need another 5-star rating because theyre KILLIN IT already! But Im going to do it because I cant help it. The folks here are the friendliest and most welcoming. And now that I think about it, the similar can be said about the selection. They offer a variety of comics, zines, graphic novels, art, and other lit for the liking of all folks! I felt very welcome and included, I dont remember the last time I walked out of a comic shop with a mental list of 10 things I was going to come back for ❤️

Shop owner, (Aton?) is very sweet and knowledgeable on a wide range of comics. I havent really read much since middle school, but found some amazing stuff here that reignited my interest. Very approachable and inclusive. They even invited us to their 2 yr anniversary party! Love these guys

Great store! My hubby (the real comic fan) loves it and describes it as a new favorite. For me, the lay comic fan, the staff was super nice, accommodating, and patient with someone who has much less bandwidth about comic books.

Definitely one of the better experiences Ive had in a comic book store. The staff is friendly and always willing to help out or make suggestions. The environment is much warmer and more relaxed than comic stores Im accustomed to. Cape and Cowl Comics will be my new stop for any of my comic book/comic collectible needs.

Incredible store with a great crew running it. Easily one of the best LCS around! They have everything from comic books (new and old) to figurines, graphic novels, omnibus, toys...they even have book signings on a regular basis and frequent local ComicCons! Check them out! I can tell he appreciates my business, and his welcoming attitude plus the reward card for bonus graphic novels keeps bringing me back to the store.

This place is dope. I really enjoy all the original art that the owner sells in his merchandise (collector pins, hats, hoodies, and t-shirts). Also, they have a great recommended readings section too. Great for experts or newer fans.

Downtown Oaklands best place to get your geek on. Great selection of current comics, anthologies, affordable past issues, and a broad selection of nerd swag (shirts, pins, and posters). Cape & Cowl also goes out of their way to curate as many author/illustrator events as possible.

Store associate was friendly and helpful, displays organized & easy to navigate. Decent back issue selection of mostly late 90s forward, but a few Bronze and Copper in the boxes I checked out. Also several harder to find wall books and CGC & CBCS as well. Nice options for books & comics geared to young readers, too.
