This shoprite is honestly my happy place. I come here at night after a long day just to walk the aisles and decompress. I’m not sure what is it about this shoprite that just calms my soul but I’m not complaining. Would honestly consider this shoprite to be a great first date place for me.
Have been going here for years. Great prices and great staff. Also best fresh bread THEY NEED TO BUY MORE!
Originally it didnt look to be a nice store and I thought it was going to be too old and old-school to be worth shopping in but I quickly learned not to judge a company by its facade. Everything in there was well put together, updated sections for hot buffet and sandwiches along with a coffee section. It also had a laundry cleaners inside. Liquor store is inside as well and it was fairly big. Great customer service, dual layer parking and clean. Also because its in a smaller area there were great deals. Highly recommend this place
The store has gone through dramatic changes since new ownership. Consistently disappointed in stock availability, lateness of online orders being ready for pick up and wrong items in my order several times now. Been shopping at this store for 16 years and now will need to go elsewhere.
Multiple variety of items that is well liked and needed for your home needs. Always my choice grocery store to go to.. definitely clean and well stocked most of the time.. but the only thing Id say would help make shopping a bit simpler is that maybe organize and not have similar items so scattered away from each other all over the store. Makes them harder to find and I eventually give up and dont wanna bother asking.
I love this ShopRite! It is always clean, well stocked and great deals. I enjoy all the selections. I can find everything I need. Service is pretty much the same as everywhere else, mediocre. I suggest going super early or late as parking gets limited.
This one is a strange set up but their meat department is top notch. Always fresh.
It will not be long until this store closes. The new owners have destroyed it. They are building a new one basically around the corner and everyone I know is eager for it to be finished because this location has become so awful.
I find their home delivery service to be frustrating. I began placing orders online for home delivery at the height of Covid in 2020. Items were often out of stock (understandable given the pandemic), but items that were substituted were often more expensive (I understand that stores want to maximize their profits) or products that I did not like. So, I began to not allow substitutions. However I would always get a telephone call from the shopper filling my order before he or she began navigating the store: I would discuss what items could be substituted usually for a different flavor. I also received text messages letting me know what items were out of stock but allowing me to accept or reject substitutions, though I found that I was always given a product I rejected (again, I understand about maximizing profits). The telephone calls at least made the process less frustrating. Today I had an order delivered, the first one in a while. I didnt receive a telephone call, but I did receive a text. I called the store and spoke to someone in Home Delivery. I told her that some of the items I ordered werent in stock by flavor, but other flavors of the same product were filled, so I just wanted to replace those out-of-stock flavors with in-stock flavors. The woman I spoke with couldnt be less interested in my call and bottom line: If you didnt allow substitutions you cant make any now. So, I have to settle for receiving more expensive items that I may not like just to be able to get some items replaced with the same brand but different flavor. In addition, because some products were on sale with a digital coupon, I couldnt take advantage of the cost savings because I didnt receive (although I did order) the advertised quantity. As a result I wound up paying regular price for those sale items I did receive so I paid the same price for two items instead of the four I would have received if the flavors I ordered were in stock. However, I did receive the item I rejected for substitution (of course, at a higher price). There is some convenience associated with Home Delivery, and my sister and a friend who get home delivery from Shop-Rite of West Milford dont have the problems I encounter with the Oakland store. I dont know if the problem is with the process or the store. I may try getting delivery from the Wayne or Lincoln Park stores if I need home delivery in the future, but I wont be ordering from Oakland again.
I have not been here since the pandemic. I heard the place has a new owner. Not sure it that is true or not. If it is, the new owner is letting the place go downhill! Not as well stocked. Very little variety in the prepared foods.
A HUGE store, if a bit run down. More of the usual ShopRite selection and then some. World be nice, however, if the staff were more mindful of mask wearing and single tracking up and down aisles as marked. Were not the Mask Police is a tired excuse for lack of vigilance. Were all the Mask Police until this is over, which it is not. A nice staff member (Ill call her a Checkout Facilitator) offered to scan and bad my items as I was waiting on a regular checkout line. That was nice. I still think itd be cutting edge for a store to offer 5% off to those who are doing their own labor. Stores Dave $ by not paying a cashier, then make money off of their customers who are happy to checkout faster, though many still wait on line to then provide free labor. Oh well.
I picked up an online order on 6/5/21. When I pulled up Mike helped me. He was extremely professional and extremely kind and courteous. If you read this Mike, keep up the great work!
Hardly any variety and a lot of empty shelves. I appreciate the diversity of the workers but the woman who was bagging was PICKING HER NOSE as she handled the food of the person in front of me. I already had another customer behind me so I was trapped there in line. When it was my turn, the cashier told me to give my reusable tote to the bagger and I politely insisted on bagging myself. Really uncomfortable situation. Will not be returning to this SR.
The store is well stocked and the variety of productd makes this a lot ne stop shop. The staff is nice and polite and the store is clean
Ok but weird store layout.
What a disappointment, just go to the Stop & Shop in the next town over. This shoprite used to feel so inviting, but after recent changes to management, entering the store feels like walking into a funeral home. Shelves are empty, the employees seem unhappy. The old managers were very helpful and always had a presence in the store if you ever needed help with anything. It seems like theyve all been fired or quit because there are no friendly faces in this store anymore. The place used to be packed with customers, now its like a ghost town during normally busy hours.
Blast from the past! The first time we walked in here I thought it was the 90s. The place is huge but its outdated. We once tried getting deli cuts here. At first, the person behind the counter didnt recognize what BelGioioso Mozarella cheese was. I know not a lot of supermarkets carry them at the deli section but at least they should know. We had to ask another employee behind the counter and they were able to locate it. On a different day, we went back for the same, and this time the cheese was moldy. We asked the guy to check the best by date and it was the same date we were there. He took it back and threw the rest of it out. The food should be inspected thoroughly. This store has employees packaging expired deli cuts. They should really renovate the entire place. Until then, go somewhere else.
Dont bother going here. They used to be the best ShopRite around but they recently had a change in management. Half the isles are empty and stay that way. I can barely find anything I want. Even the essentials are hard to come by now. I havent been able to finish a full shopping list in over 2 months. Its unorganized and the bakery went downhill... Nothing is fresh anymore. Its an embarrassment compared to how it used to be. Switched to Stop N Shop in Franklin Lakes and its 100x better. Seriously this ShopRite is clearly on its way out of business.
I have to say Im not a fan of this SR. I feel the quality of meat, produce and other general products have gone down in quality. But the prices have gone up. I return several items because they were bad or used. I do most of my food shopping at Wegmans or Uncle Giuseppe.Very disappointed in SR of Oakland
Horrible shopping experience! Tried online shopping for the first time. Went to pick up order only to find out computer was down. Go back home and wait for another call back. I go back for the second time only to find out their electricity is down. Employees were totally clueless and unable to help. Why call and tell me my order was ready and when I get there, they have nothing for me. Wow! I had no idea their service was so third world. Good luck trying to get someone to answer the phone! HORRIBLE store! I will stick with Stop & Shop.
Very disappointed in the recent changes since the change in management on so many levels. Cuts of meat like pork shank are no longer available, empty shelves and freezer cases, no longer have a pharmacy. What I am most upset about was witnessing a new manager talking very disrespectfully to the nice woman who works in the courtesy department. It was in no way her fault that a customer ordered on line and then decided to refuse her order and ask for a refund. I live less than 5 minutes away but will be looking for another Shop Rite.
Great prices, lots of selection
This used to be one of the best supermarkets. Apparently the store is under new ownership. All of the specialty items are gone. Last night I went to pick up few things out and to my amazement I couldnt even find one piece of fresh corn. The produce department is less than half what it used to be. The meat department is under stocked. Things that used to be normal to find there are gone. I have to find a new place to do my shopping. It is sad that under new ownership they have destroyed a phenomenal business. And Im sure they will feel it in their bottom line. Go elsewhere so you wont be disappointed in what theyve done to the store.
Rude uptight people there. Workers and people just run right into you and dont apologize
Before new management took over, this was the best shoprite around. Now, it’s impossible to even buy a banana. Things are constantly out of stock, the shelves are empty. I haven’t even been able to buy cereal I like in almost a month. Very disappointed in the recent changes. Whoever is doing the ordering now for the store needs to revisit their approach. Also, the shoprite from home lines are crazy long. It’s faster to go inside and do your own shopping. I have only done online ordering maybe 10 times and each time the order has been wrong. Also, note for the employees, peppers are not substitutes for carrots. I don’t know what happened to this store, but it definitely went in a negative direction
Worst shopping experience in a long time. How about hiring someone to babysit all the kids you have working here standing around talking while the lines are 3 - 4 deep? Where’s the manager sleeping in the back? If I wanted to check out my own groceries I would have been a cashier. Yhis was my last visit!
This store must be a Corporate write off. Because it just gets worse over time with the new owners..The produce is a nightmare, everything is old and rotten. The first day of a sale and the Asparagus is seeded over and you cant find one good bunch. They must be purchasing old rotting veggies. What ashame, this used to be the best store around. Plus you dont see any happy faces . management included. Dont waste your time in going here anymore. Its a horror show! NOT a a customer oriented store
New owners are killing this store. The bakery has nothing ready when they open and the fish section is completely empty when they first open. Why bother opening if nothing is going to be ready? Also they only have one register open with a line of 10 people, and nothing restocked. Sad, used to love this place.
I hear that this store is under new ownership and it shows. Old staff seems unhappy, new staff are not helpful, shelves not stocked, reorganizing items yet nobody can help where they moved them to. I always said I would be a loyal customer to them even when the new Shoprite opens in Wayne but sorry to say the Oakland location has lost my business. I will make the trip to the Wyckoff store until the Wayne store is built. I would like to thank the old owners for giving such wonderful customer service through the many years I have been going there and wish them the best of luck.
Can never always find what I need they bring out the cooked chickens to late they need to see how little falls Shoprite works to learn something Oakland Shoprite is Horrible
Great 👍🏻
The liquor store here is great. Something is always on sale.
I have been shopping at ShopRite in Oakland NJ for over 44 years, and I have always loved it. Great prices, great selection, specialty items you can’t find anywhere else, until this year. They opened a new ShopRite in Wyckoff and they lost a lot of business, then the Claire family sold it, and the store has changed. It is hard to find specialty items, will no longer give rain checks for items on sale with price plus, really? Can’t even find ShopRite items that I used to purchase. I know there’s a pandemic going on, so I understand that some of the items aren’t in stock. I am starting to turn to other places to purchase items I buy regularly and going to a different ShopRite. The store has lost the family feel, which is a shame and no longer people friendly.
Best prices always! These pics are from the last 2 shooping trips! Paid under $150! This does not include what I have in my pantry & freezer! Everytime there is a problem, the staff takes care of it quickly and without hassle! Love the sales they have every week! Keep up the great work Shop Rite of Oakland! Wish I can give 10 stars!
This store used to be great, but after being sold it has become one of the worst supermarkets you can go to. The shelves look like theyve been looted and there are barely any employees. The employees that are there are less than helpful, and the worst part? An employee stocking the shelves wasnt wearing a mask, and when I asked him to put it on he picked a fight with me. So yea, if you want to catch COVID and not get the things on your shopping list... Theyre ready and waiting for you.
It was terrible. No one at fish counter for over 20 minutes i left with getting fish there. Deli fails to slice cold cuts thin.
Busy on the day before Super Bowl Sunday along with the next impeding storm headed our way for tomorrow. However its large enough to handle the crowd of people shopping for food. Plenty of items available on sale along with the supermarket pre-made platter selections for munching on while watching the Big Gane! Shoprite of Oakland Store Personnels Customer interactions was excellent and they always go out of their way to ensure you leave a happy customer !
Clean, helpful staff. Laid out a little unusual. But all in all a good experience.
It was out of stock of. A lot of items I usually buy . The sleeves were not stocked like they usually are and the meat department was also low in supplies for a monday
No longer even OK, I had been shopping there for over 12 years and I thought the store was ok, not the best but it was ok enough for me to go out of my way to shop there instead of the supermarket that is closer to me. Now its just plain depressing walking into that place. Produce section was barely acceptable before, now its the worst. Lottery tickets? nope, gone. I can yammer on but other reviewers already touched on those points. Will I go out of my way to shop somewhere else? yep. And who are these reviewers that give it 5 stars??? One 5 star reviewer said A great store where you can find everything you need for a short stay / walk in the city. I doubt this person even walked there or even visited the store.
More pricey than other shoprites in the area.
My favorite grocery store for this area hands down because they carry a large variety of items I use and cannot easily find elsewhere and it’s local. The one thing I would say though is ALWAYS CHECK YOUR RECEIPT BECAUSE SOMETHING. IS ALMOST ALWAYS PRICED INCORRECTLY! Other than that, it’s a great supermarket.
Didnt give five stars because they didnt have large curd cottage cheese, and some of their deli meats are more expensive than my local ShopRite.Other than that, great selection of meat and processed foods and produce and nicer goods
BIG! Maybe a little too big. Signs for the restroom arent clearly posted. The aisles are spacious. Its well-stocked and well-staffed.
Great prices on quality food and other products. The store is very clean with friendly and knowledgeable employees
Horrible. They are always out of stock on items and never offer other options. Can there really be no rice in the entire store to sub with? No vegetable substitutions at all in the entire shoprite store? Once they shop for your items if its not an exact match they dont want to go back again so they tell you there isnt anything. What a joke...10 dollar fee for shopping and delivery for what...5 of your 50 items? They avoid answering the phone and it takes 10 minutes to get through. How is this store in business?
Lately, the selection has been really awful, and the important items on my shop from home lists end up not being in stock, so it messes up the entire order total savings. Ive actually had to go to the Wyckoff Shoprite after leaving the Oakland one just to get the basics I needed to complete a recipe. The store itself looks barren, and Ive had more than one employee tell me to go to the Wyckoff one for the items Im looking for. Oh, and no raincheques anymore?? That means that your customers miss out on discounts because of the stores poor foresight. I think Im done with this location, unfortunately.
Hard to find things here.
Not as good as it used to be.
For every special occasion I order our cakes from this ShopRite. The bakery department here is awesome. Your order is always right, the cakes taste great and they will make anything you want. The varieties are endless and the price cant be beat. I usually order a quarter sheet cake with two separate fillings and two types of cake flavor, butter cream and basic instructions on colors. The cake not only tasted great but it was beautiful for less than $30! The rest of the market has a great variety of items you wont find in other stores, like housewares and a larger variety of food choices. Theres even a deli area with ready made food to go for those times you dont want to cook. The fish is fresh and the check out is fast. Plenty of registers, parking and they have home delivery and catering. Oh, and theres even an urgent care right by the registers hosted by none other than the Valley Medical Group. A one stop shop.
I dont know why I like this ShopRite more than other ones. I find the shelves well stocked, and the layout easy to navigate.
Grab n go Nutrition facts not accurate. Loyal Shoprite customer 20 plus years.
Nice store. But Im not crazy about how its laid out. During the pandemic, having to make sure youre going the right way down an aisle, yet having the aisles set up the way they do there is a bit strange and hard to follow. But the store is nice otherwise.
Back to having to wait on line. Kids monitor the line not paying attention to how many people came out in order to let people go in. No wipes for carts or baskets. The only positive once u get inside its not crowded.
3 stars for variety, well stocked, but as an out of state visitor, I have never seen such a confusing lay out for a grocery store, felt like I was on a scavenger hunt.
Shoprite is my go to store. Stocked well with good variety of products. Prices are very good. I wish they were in my town. But I dont mind taking the ride for weekly groceries.
I wish I can give them a negative rating. Places Gerty since they sold it. Employees are new and look miserable. The place constantly has empty shelves. The two men that appear to be in charge are not customer friendly no interaction unlike the management team before.
Shoprite from Home this far into the pandemic should have stepped up their game. I stopped allowing substitutions for all things because I would get weird substitutions. They allow you to select substitutions from a list of items that were of stock, but its very limited and doesnt do that for all products. Its August. People stopped panic baking months ago. Do they really not have a substitute at this point for flour and seltzer? Go to Target. The shopper texts you in real time as theyre shopping for you. Its awesome. If they can do it, so can Shoprite. Disappointing.
Not our normal ShopRite, but a nice store when we do shop here.
I shop at a different ShopRite location normally but stopped here for a few items. The prices are extremely higher and nothing short of insulting. I walked out disgusted.
The nicest, most well stocked supermarket in the area.
Been going to Oakland shoprite over 20 yrs. new owners took over, I’ve been trying to like the new store but I can’t. Is drew still the manager? The personality and customer service isn’t there. Being a regular customer I am acquainted with the employees. Today several apologized in reference to lack of attentiveness and said they aren’t allowed to assist customers like they have in the past. I was going to work there when I retire after NewYear. Don’t think so now nor will I continue shopping at Oakland Shoprite
Did an online order for pick up between 6 & 6:30. Sitting in my car on a long line to get my order. Doesnt seem very organized.
Weird setup throughout the store not sure what theyre trying, but its confusing.
Good selection, good prices and a clean store. What more could you ask for?
Huge selection and great prices
The way this store is set-up is frustrating but the view is beautiful
SHAME ON SHOP RITE! Weve been customers of over 40 years (along with the rest of our family) and during the beginning of the pandemic we had an order placed for pickup (WHICH WAS CONFIRMED BY SHOP RITE) only to have it cancelled 2 days before our pickup date. We were forced to explore other means. Tried Amazon/Whole Foods and had our delivery fulfilled within 1 day. With this kind of efficient service and reliability WE ARE NOW CUSTOMERS OF AMAZON/WHOLE FOODS. Excellent service/RELIABILITY and order fulfillment. (btw, Target & Stop and Shop offered delivery and curbside pickup during this time)Bye, Bye Shop Rite... Thanks for nothing! AGAIN... SHAME ON YOU SHOP RITE for not even offering pickup service when needed the most. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Go there fir Parks scrapple, but also a good bakery
I love shop rite on line shopping. They always pick fresh produce, great looking meat and are very friendly. This is such a big time saver. Thanks to everyone at shop rite. Happy Holidays
Great experience with multiple clean aisles and so many options for every product! Kind, quick checkout was optional with always being in a rush. Definitely shopping here agian!
Everything in one place: groceries, liquor & pharmacy! Covered, open parking below with a huge elevator to main level. Wide overhang at main entry for those rainy days. Bonus: fantastic views of the Ramapo mountains!
Empty shelves.no substitute for anything on sale .not worth the trip go to your nearest grocery store .
Its a very large store and it is spaced well. There are a lot of fresh items and also a little café. They have all the usual grocery items, but they also have a good selection of home goods and even some clothing and such. The employees were nice and the self-checkout was quick and easy.
One of the best grocery stores Ive ever been to. In addition to groceries they have a lot of hot and cold prepared foods and sushi and salad bar.
Worst store ever. Setup is horrible
This is out of my way but I enjoy the experience so much that I go often after recently moving to the area.
Always find whatever I need, friendly people, pleasure to shop there.
Bigger than mine at Rochelle Park . My wife and I prefer this one its nice and big and has more a variety of products
Too busy and crowed. Some of the customers think they own the aisle and are rude. Store isnt bad deli is great! Bakery excellent. Customers make you want to go somewhere else
That store is empty and the cakes are not fresh, very embarrassing experience with it
Wanted bagels this morning but I didnt buy them because they leave them unwrapped with the new owners taking over..some guy was touching them all with bare hands..so gross..i asked the lady why they didnt wrap them anymore and said this is the way the new owners want it..not a good thing..
Wow! This shop rite is huge!! You can spend hours wandering around here! Like other reviews said lots of products bakery, deli, coffee area soup bar olive bar. You name it they have it. Im going back just to wander some more
Good variety of food, both fresh and packaged, nice selection of gourmet cheeses and an entire aisle devoted to organic and gluten free packaged foods. The layout of the store is terrible, and makes it difficult to find items. During peak shopping periods, the aisles are difficult to negotiate with the gigantic shopping carts.
They have whatever you need and the prices are good.
Nice store I can find the most things needed with every workers are always kind and smiling, it will be better if they have better price of produce, but still ok. I like the location with plenty of parking spaces, liquor store in good price and cleaners.
Shop rite in Fair lawn has everything I need. Oakland doesnt have half of the selection.
Has just about everything! Good parking too!
I shop here all the time, always clean and their desserts are delicious
From the standpoint of a New Yorker this was an experience. Almost the size of a Target, this ShopRite has its own Liquor Store, Salon, coffee bar, dry cleaners, Mani/Pedi (?)(!) Place, and is built over an entire garage like a former Warsaw Pact rail terminal. Prices are cheap, they had items here I hadnt seen in years and for a New Yorker to discover Fox U-Bet chocolate syrup on sale (gotta have them egg creams) I was in Heaven to my ridiculously bemused host. Franklin Lakes is pretty but this is the star!
Always clean always organized lines are never too long
Older store that runs circles around all the rest. Mgrs on the floor checking products interactive with customers. Always lots of helpful workers who seem very happy working at this store. I live one block away from a wayne shoprite an I travel 10 miles extra to this one.Ronald Nicosia
Great store the employees are fantastic. Only thing lacking is a bit of modernization
Many options and good prices
Had difficulties with the Shoprite app. 1st time using digital coupons. Had to go to customer service and it all took too long.By having digital coupons SR is eliminating part of the population.
Great selection
I shop online. Fantastic. Very few issues. They call me before to let me know of any out of stocks, if I want replacements, or anything added to the order. The men who load up my car are very nice and efficient. Cant say enough about it. The fee is worth it for me. I would pick up more things in the store shopping on my own. Thanks ShopRite!
