I bought from them through a third party website. I couldnt be happier. The listing was accurate and when i called they were super helpful and knowledgeable. The price wasnt bad either. They dont even charge CC fees! They were easy to get a hold of and took the time to send me the tracking numbers and even mailed me a physical receipt for the purchase in addition to the usual emails when buying online. Ive never been to their physical location but I would stake my reputation and recommend them. especially if they have what your looking for. They have a huge selection.
Normally I walk in a gun store and I’m met with friendly ppl super cool but here it Started off good started talkin to a few guys about the huge selection but then they started whispering about something then I was being followed every where felt unwelcome kept being dogged and stared at for no reason by som older man came to find out I wasn’t the only one when I read these reviews and when I said thanks for having us I was ignored don’t recommend I give 0 stars
This place has the most outrageous prices Ive ever seen. They have a huge inventory because the prices are triple to quadruple what they should be and no one is stupid enough to spend that money. The staff is not friendly and makes you feel like a criminal by following you around with a suspicious look on their face. My coworker and I witnessed one of the male staff basically talk down to a female staff member. I do not recommend this place at all. Buyer beware.
On top of being over priced there employees think its funny to be rude when asked why the exact same thing at tejas and brush mountain are 4 times cheaper and better brand. This place has considerably gone down hill over the years. Save your money there is better in the area
Went to checkout a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8x24, they had it priced at $549.00, no thank you. This optic retails for $398.00. That’s a $151.00 markup!!! I ordered it online, AND got FREE shipping. The other reviews don’t lie, theres a reason they’re fully stocked on everything, it’s because they’re prices are insane!
Now I see why people give them the reviews they do... Simply rude and like many others this will be my first and last time doing business with them.
WOW.....this store has one of the best selections in Texas! Yeah... probably a little pricey, but they have all the bases covered. Staff was nice as well. Definitely a must see if in Odessa!
Good selection but over priced, guns are nearly marked up $200 and ammo isnt cheap either.
Prices are EXTREMELY high. But they seem to have a pretty good selection, but cant justify spending what theyre asking when you can order the same thing online or go to Academy, for significantly cheaper.
Almost everything in the shop is marked up from 60 to 100%. If you have more money than since then by all means shop here.
This is the first gun shop I came to after being overseas and coming home in 2011. I walked in and the sales people were just staring at me as if I was a criminal. I asked for a certain rifle the only response I received was a finger point. Horrible shopping experience try to support local business but with experiences like these its hard to even recommend them. Luckily I did not buy nothing and cannot recommend them to anyone. I had to post this review after reading all the same experiences others had. Was actually thinking of going back and giving them another try after many years but I have seen things haven’t changed.
Almost all the firearms and firearms accessories are way over priced compared to MSRP. For example, they sell MBUS sights for about $120 for an individual sight when they are usually sold for $40-$50, or about $90 for a set. Many of the AR-15’s that are considered entry level, which usually retail for about $500-$600, are sold at this location for $900-$1,000. The store does look nice, not going to lie, but all the items are too expensive. The only reasonably priced items are ammunition and some cleaning kits. I’d recommend going to different shops or buying online.TL;DR: This shop has a great selection of firearms and supplies, but the prices are way too high for most people.
This was our go to shop for the last year. I went through our budget, we have spent already 1000+ buying different products. We thought it was a little high from the get go but, we’re in the oil field area so of course you have to expect that to play a role in pricing. We went in for a holster for my husbands Rossi and just like any other time we’ve been in the store my husbands weapon was unloaded the clerk helped us find a holster to fit there were no problems ( worth mentioning everyone in the store was carrying concealed or open carry). While paying he put his unloaded open Rossi on the counter to finish purchasing the holster. Still not a problem. I had asked my husband to look at a firearm I really liked that I had found while he was finding a holster. When I did that it was a flip of a switch, all of a sudden one of the clerks had a problem with my husband open carrying his unloaded weapon, asked to disarm him while he could clearly see my husbands weapon was unloaded and there was a store full of other customers that were not asked to be disarmed while carrying in the store . We felt that he was racially profiled because of how he was dressed and the way he looked that day. Any other day we’ve walked into the store he’s had his usual clothes on and no problems but this particular day all of a sudden there’s an issue That’s a huge issue for me and we will no longer be coming back to this establishment.
They keep a good stock and are consistent, and the employees I associated with were very respectable, informative and showed good hospitality. They dont try and talk you into a firearm that isnt for you, if you dont know what your exactly searching for they do a pretty well job of matching you up with what would suit you best whether if its a rifle or handgun . Highly recommended & way better then academy and the tejas store. Literally worth stopping by even if your just looking .
Good selection but WAY over priced for even basic firearms.
Expensive, treat u like criminal they follow you everywhere!!!! Not going there ever again!!
I was in and out in 30 seconds flat, all I had too see was a basic box of federal ball point 45 (20 rounds) for FORTY DOLLARS. Dont even ask me how much thier rifle ammunition was, this place is a ln absolute RIPOFF.
Like the store and its selection. Actually, its probably the best gun store in West Texas. Prices are on the high end, but that is typical of any store with a good inventory to make that selection available to see in person. Any store can order a gun and it be there in a few days.Attitude needs improvement. People buy tools where they like the staff. Dont act like customers know less, as you have no idea with whom you may be talking to. Usually people know exactly what they are looking for when they walk in. All you have to do is not run them off.
Great store. The most competent expertise available in the USA and possibly the world. If they dont do something, they will know who does do it right. Excellent warranty of all items purchased. Buy from Gun Sport, Ltd owned by Mr. Jon Thomas.
Could not shop in peace employee was hawking me down! Ohh yea and prices are ridiculous! Get ready to pay double! Place would sell a lot more if customers could get space and have realistic prices! Never again will I go back!
The staff was very helpful and answered all of my questions, they didnt make me feel like I was just a girl looking for a gun. They answered all my questions, was met at the door with a hello and how can I help you. When I told them I was looking for a .45 for my self I was not told it was to much gun for a little girl like i was at another gun shop in town. The owner and management team were full of information and patients. And they had the ammo I needed for my when no one else in town did. I wont be shopping any where but here for my gun needs from now on!!! Thank you all so much!!!!!
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!
Prices are ridiculous. I went one time and saw plenty of pistols and rifles marked over msrp. Also, as soon as I walked in, the old man followed me and watched me like a hawk as if I was getting ready to smash and grab. Definitely didn’t feel welcomed. And if it matters to you im white.
Gun Sport LTD has literally the best selection of firearms in the Midland/Odessa area...but with that being said they are incredibly overpriced. Not $50 to $100 bucks overpriced...more like $200 and up. I have no idea how this place has been in business for so long. Staff are okay. Sometimes very helpful and friendly while other times they treat their customers like they could care less about them. Not to mention the owner has never once been nice to me. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere.
The staff was friendly but the owner seemed like he was miserable! He was rude and unfriendly. Everything was much overpriced some items they were asking for double the value! They had a 5.7 pistol for sale at $2,400 when I went and the desert eagles were starting at $2,000 for a model worth $1,500 it was ridiculous. They do have a huge selection but my advice is go look for what you want hold it and get a feel of the weapon. Then go and buy somewhere else. The only thing they had that wasnt too bad was a scar 17s for $4,000 but I can get one new for $3,500 after taxes and their price point is before taxes. Good luck to whoever goes in there and make sure and do your research first! Ive been ripped off by a shop like this before I paid $800 for a $400 gun.
I don’t why would anyone wanna go there. It’s horrible place.
Pros- they know their guns. they are quick and have ammo at the ready.cons- it is MUCH more expensive. for example i paid almost twice as much for ammo but at least they had it...and I wanted it. hell, I guess another pro is they will ALWAYS have the ammo you need since they cant really sell it at $65 per box of 20. so in a pinch these guys are definitely an option.
I went in looking for some 7.62x25 Tokarev ammo and I had called ahead to make sure they had it but I neglected to ask the price. Got there and went in, my first thought was that it was a pretty nice place and they had a good selection. Immediately I had two employees behind the counter asking me if they could help me find anything like they were a couple of hyenas stalking a dying antelope. I browsed through the ammo. Then I asked one of them and he said they had it in the back. I asked how much he said $29.95 and I asked how many rounds, to which he replied 20. I nearly fainted. This is absolute bottom of the barrel ammo too, either Czech, Yugo, or Russian surplus so I mean its just awful ammo to begin with. Not to mention I went online and ordered a case of 500 PPU hollow points for about $175 shipped. This shop is about as close to extortion as you can get. After that I didnt even bother checking the prices on anything else.
I see no one from this place will address the way too overpriced reviews.
Best selection around, unfortunately worst prices ever. Staff is uninformed. But if you already know what you want, and are willing to pay a couple hundred dollars over what the gun is worth then this is the place for you.
Had a great experience amazing customer service
Went in today 12/19/15 and had picked out myself a Sig P226 Stainless Elite and was getting my wife a Sig P238 380 but was really undecided and the owner called Morgan(who was helping me and doing a great job)over and told him (after I asked what was up)he needed him through with me to help others. I told Morgan I was going to buy the 2 Sigs but I would take my $2400.00-$2600.00 after ammo and taxes down the road. Sorry for the awkward position Morgan was put in. I will not be back and all my shooting family will be made very well aware of this very Rude Gun Shop.
Price gouging hurts the firearms community. You have very nice firearms. But not hard to find. $2000 more for a HK MR7.62 and FN 17s than what I paid for mine.
Customer service was great, met me right as i walked in the door. Very polite. The prices were so high it was difficult to make eye contact with the salesman. I wanted to leave immediatly when i saw the first saw the price tag. Absolutly crazy pricing. I could have bought just shy of 2 of the same firearm for what they were asking for 1.
What a shame that Odessa cant have a well stocked gun store with an affordable inventory. Gun Sports inventory rivals that of those in much larger cities, but the 60-100% mark-up eliminates it as a choice for a place to actually make a purchase. Example: I purchased a Springfield Armory TRP Operator .45acp for $1,150, brand new from an out of city dealer. Gun Sports price? $1,995. I understand a fair mark up to keep the doors open, but this is insanity.I should mention, I once asked if these were retail prices while looking at a pistol here. They stated, these are our prices.
This place is HUGE. With that, they had some things Ive only seen but a couple times ever. Ammo caliber Ive never seen at all. (.218 bee)The down side is they were $100s higher than anywhere else Ive been. RMRs were over $600(get almost anywhere else for $450 or less). Glocks in the $650-$750s... we all knows what they really go for. Ruger Persision Rifles in the $1,600s(they go for $1,200, and thats even high most places). The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly.
The selection is the best in the Permian basin. Prices? Aaaaawfull, terrible prices. It’s 2019 any firearm is readily available to have in hand within a few short days. I understand having prices this high before the days of the internet but come on, times have changed. When I went in they were trying to “used car salesmen” some poor guy out of his FN 45, “unfortunately it’s used man” in this town a used firearm still fetches top dollar. Especially at an establishment like this where even if they did mark it down from their new prices it would still be higher than MSRP. Go to SK or Ally in Midland. They’ll even price match for you. If you don’t see what you want there then order it online and pay the FFL fee, you’ll come out money way ahead of buying from this place. It’s a shame really because it’s an awesome place to look around, unfortunately they price themselves out of the market.
Great selection. Extremely overpriced, I love to do business with a local and expect some price markup but not to this extent.
NC Ordnance is pleased to still be in business with you after many years! Reliable, knowledgeable, trustworthy people here.
40-100% markup on average, no wonder the liberal left is winning the fight on chipping away at the second amendment. Over 15 years of walking in here on boring rainy days off Ive never seen the same salespeople.
Pretty nice staff, lots of fun in there.
Way overpriced and non-negotiable on pricing. Selling everything 10-50% above MSRP and way out of line with the rest of their competitors in town. It is obvious that these guys dont know how to manage inventory turns so they take it out on the consumers. It would be understandable if it was just a few things overpriced but everything from firearms to ammunition to accessories are overpriced. It is the poorly managed mom & pop shops like this that contribute to the black market and big corporate stores taking all of the market share.Unless you just like throwing away your money, stay the hell away from these guys!!!!
Very expensive. Unprofessional staff. I walked in, held a couple, heard some manager scold the salesman about how he messed up the previous day. It was weird, especially since I was the only customer in there. She couldve waited 10 mins until I left. Im guessing the old man is the owner. No sense of customer service. I bought a 9mm for $900 they are selling for $1300. Theres a new place in midland with a much better customer service experience. I dont want to name them but younger people with a much more honest approach.
Despite the extremely high prices, I found myself shopping here fairly often. At first I noticed that the staff was unfriendly and annoyed by the customers presence. As I came back more and more, it got a little better, and they were willing to answer questions and help a little more. I even spoke with the owner Jon and he seemed to be somewhat helpful after he got to know you. They have recently hired some young kids, they are arrogant and uneducated on firearm manipulation and general understanding of their inventory. I recently had an issue with a part they put on my gun, it appeared to be damaged. When I brought this to the owner Jons attention, he became annoyed and very angry, he was very disrespectful and unprofessional and did not take any responsibility to the problem at hand. This was my last experience at Gun Sport. I will never return to Gun Sport, instead I will recommend the following: TMP in Midland, and Rusty Spur Gun Shop in Odessa. If you cant find what you need at TMP or Rusty Spur, just wait for a gun show to come to town. July 27-28 (Horseshoe) Oct 26-27 (Horseshoe)
Very uncomfortable and unwelcoming environment. constantly standing right over you and act like you are an inconvenience.
I also feel like the employees were extremely rude and seemed annoyed by having to help you.Although its a free market and they cant mark up the firearms to what they want. most of their inventory is extremely overpriced.
Most overpriced gun store in history! Owner marks up ALL items 100% over retail. All guns are literally double priced over any other gun store. Especially when there isnt a rush on guns. Have no idea how these kind of stores stay in business. I guess theres an idiot for every purchase.
Asked someone for an ak mag and the guy there asked if it was 5.56 and when it got to me it was $50.00 thats outrageous I went to the local gun show and found the same mags for thirty dollars less. So they dont know about guns apparently and are overpriced
Took my 20 gauge to get fixed and I got attended quick and got what I needed .......awesome people
Sucks. Good selection, high prices and poor customer service.
Wanted a new magpul ar butt stock, the old guy with glasses said why do you want it? it has no performance upgrades from the stock you already have. I responded I want it to make my ar look cooler and more tactical the old man laughed and walked away to help another person
Very cool people !! They take time with you. Show you whats new
Outrageous Prices, and this is coming from someone accustomed to pie-in-the-sky retail pricing. Although new inventory and staff are good.
I have bought a couple of guns here and I over paid but sometimes its ok I understand the cost of over head .But I dont believe I will be back I used there restroom and I heard someone, yelling i,can out and, the owner was yelling at his employees. And it was about lighting in the cases all of his employees, looked like scared puppys . i dont think yelling at people is the way to go and I dang sure dont believe when there are customers in the shop. Jon try a,little kindness i,have found in my,many years of bussiness that kindness and, respect, goes way farther than yelling. Try it you will be surprised . and if you knew what you have in employees you would be thanking them everyday most emplyess dont give a dam about you or your store your people truly do . and they know there stuff. Very rare
Crazy high prices, Dan Wesson Pointman was $600 over MSRP.
Good guns, not a good pe
I have bought 3 kimber 1911s here never had any issues today I walked in a over weight white girl with red hair literally stared at me never greeted me she finally asked me if I needed help after 5 min of me looking around I asked if they had any stocks for my rifle she said no and walked away another guy came up and asked me if needed help (he was in back with another customer) i asked same question we found a stock for my rifle I bought it, it sucks that I went threw this because of her I probably will never set foot on this store again I am Hispanic (not saying she was a racist) but when a Caucasian male came behind me as I was checking out she was really nice and greeting him she looked like a whole new person I felt like she thought I couldnt afford anything or something Ive never felt so mistreated before in my life
They dont let you see how comfortable they are after one
Called to get a price can find it online for around $1299 most shops about 1350 dude that answered the phone quoted me $1995 I thought surely we must have crossed lines but nope he really wanted 500 over retail didn’t ask if it came with free lube
Way over priced on everything.
Over priced
Super high prices on the things I looked at. Also the staff was a little rude.
I can name 3 guns i would have bought on an impulse buy today (they were high dollar guns) but the prices were just extremely crazy!!!! About 600$ to 700$ above retail
A little pricey BUT very knowegable
Just as others have said they are high on prices but the overwhelming selection and knowledge of the staff makes it a must stop in. If you are curious about a firearm or reloading process they are worth the trip just for the conversation.
Guns are way overpriced the people that work there ruder than hell they act like youre cutting into their day when you goin to buy never ever ever well I go there again
Huge selection of guns and accessories. Staff knows their product.
The prices not good
I wouldnt buy anything in there. I cannot believe the prices.
High prices, staff sucks literally
Extremely rude and in professional.
Best in Odessa
Overpriced
