I have been going here for most of my life and have never once been disappointed. Great price and good food. You get a meal for your moneys worth.
Remarkably great food! Seasoned perfectly. Loved the fries. We had a patty melt, and a Reuben. Both breads were grilled to perfection. Our kids had burgers and loved them. Staff was excellent.
Hidden gem! This was our first meal in the area and arguably the best. The place was packed with just two servers but we got seated right away. A bit slow go take order and get food out but that was to be expected with every table taken. Our omelets were delicious and full of goodies. The toast was also good. Coffee was standard diner coffee. I would love to go back and have lunch, we saw some amazing burgers and sandwhiches getting delivered to nearby tables. The prices were very reasonable for such a good meal.

The kid who answered the phone was very rude and didnt get my order right. The bun to the chicken burger deluxe was huge and the chicken looked like a nugget. Wont be eating there again. Not worth it, went down hill pretty fast!

In the early 60s I recall coming to Philips with my mother and grandmother and often had their chili. I was surprised 60 years later that the family still runs the diner ( and well too). I had their chili and it was the same recipe, very good as I had it to go. That evening I had their Hamburger Steak and Fries and these too were delicious.Great memories and food, best of all things.

I have always loved this place from the time my grandma took me to now and I was 4 years old then and now Im 45.only place you can get a filling meal and a affordable for whole family can eat..never change keep up the wonderful job.
HORRIBLEWent here today for lunch with my friend. Ordered poutine and toast, our bill came to about $10. We gave our waitress, Lauri, $14 and told her to keep the change. Lauri took it upon herself to not only read the amount wrong on the bill, but also to arrogantly say “really a 70 cent tip? Don’t even bother I’ll bring it back to you”. She proceeded to the cash register, then realized she couldn’t do simple math and came back over to try and ice over her utterly rude and disrespectful comment. My friend and I left, but decided to go back in shortly after to confront Lauri on her horrific customer service... only to get a half-ssed apology. Of all the places I’ve eaten I’ve never been treated this way. If zero stars was an option that’s what I would’ve selected for this review — never going back.

Nice old style dinner... Basic food decently prepared
Ordered their special of a Chicken Pot Pie... When I ordered this I thought I was ordering a fresh pie. What I got was a Banquet pie. The waitress never came to the table to ask how our meals were. My pot pie was dry and gross. If she had come back to the table before bringing our bill to us, I would have ordered something different.

Hidden gem. Not much to look at but the food and service were fantastic. We had a bacon cheeseburger and a hot beef sandwich and both were fantastic, unbelievably fresh and high quality! Would stop in here again anytime!

Its an old style family diner. It has great staff and a friendly atmosphere. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced.
We were out of towners looking for lunch. Couldnt find anything else so tried Phillips. This was probably a nice place fifty years ago. The building was old,old,old. Our burgers and fries were good but the ground in years of dirt and wear on the floors was very unappetizing. The locals probably like the memories and hot food, but was a last resort eatery for us.

Wow. Had been in business for 60 years. Home cooking in Upstate NY. Portions were over the top. I struggled to eat all my lunch. Again enjoyed a meal with my Son. Had the opportunity to take him for one of his VA appointments. Roads were in good shape all the way. The view out over the Bay was wonderful at the Diner.
A great hometown diner that has been in Ogdensburg for 70 yrs. The servers and service is great with the menu being what you would expect; burgers, fries, sandwiches and breakfast served all day. Very moderately priced and good food.
Old time diner, established years ago. Hasnt forgot its roots or its purpose - which is to serve good food in a timely manner at a reasonable price. For which they do a stellar job, although at times when they are busy the service is naturally slower.As some snivelers have pointed out, the floor is worn - but that is from years of hungry people being served. And the last I knew most people do not dump the food from their plate onto the floor to eat. If they do that would surely be an unappetising performance.And dont forget it is a DINER, not a $50 a plate ristaurante with champagne and caviar. That kind of food service is for those kind of people who wish to be there. I can afford that kind of place but personally will always choose a diner if there is one.So if you want good home cooking and dont eat off the floor, and dont need a concierge to wait on you - then give Phils a try. Real food, real people and real service

Good Ole Family Restaurant
Dont come here expecting anything other than diner food. The portions are generous and food is freshly cooked. It can be loud and there can be a wait for food, but it is the center of life in Ogdensburg. It is a popular place for breakfast. Seating is crowded and it has been well worn. Enjoy it for what it is

The service is good and fast, food is cheap. Thats the good. I have given this place two chances and sadly we sent our wifes parents there for a disappointing meal. Both times I got breakfast. First was fried eggs and hash with toast. Second was scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries, and toast. Everything tastes like dirty grill. That really is the main issue. Its that fishy taste of canola oil gone rancid. The home fries are also bland and soft. I prefer mine well seasoned and crispy. The eggs were cooked perfectly both times. If they could fix the weird grill taste, it would be better. Wifes parents got pancakes which were reported as meh.

A Friendly Little Diner... Mom loves it! My husband & I had the opportunity to take her to dinner here, and it made her day. The food is homemade and pretty good and our waitress was friendly and helpful. We will be going back again.
At one time this would have been a 5-star review for me anyway. But this Hometown Diner has gone downhill in the last 40 years. Coffee used to be the best in town. Hands down! Now its just warmed up water. And the home fries, dont get me going on the home fries. Yeah its a good place to go after a good night out drinking but not when youre sober. Not anymore anyway. Im thinking this Hometown Diner has lost its hometown flair.
Phillips Diner has been in business for 70 years so by now they know what they are doing. I have been to Phillips Diner numerous times and the food has been great every time.The prices are comparable with others in the area if not even cheaper.I went with a person for Boston Ma. area and he ordered breakfast at lunch time ( can be ordered any time) and said his meal was delicious. I had the fish special for lunch and it to was good and filling.With 2 hot teas and both our meals it came in under $ 20. Cant hardly beat that at fast food places.There are large booths for a big group or tables for one to four. Or you can sit at the counter.The waitress was prompt, friendly and took our orders with no mistakes.Even at lunch time and the place busy we didnt have to wait long for service or our order.When you walk in you may be tempted to run because the place is dated and in need of upgrades and repairs. Thats about the only reason it didnt get 5 stars. It has free parking on site and it is handicap accessible.
Great breakfast although waitress got more of a tip than I intended! I ordered one of the breakfast specials... one egg, sausage, hash browns, toast and coffee. My friend ordered a toasted bagel, cream cheese, Side order of 4 slices of bacon, coffee and tomato juice. The bill came to $13 which my friend paid. I offered to pay the tip. I thought I left $2.50 tip but what I thought was $1 bill turned out to be a $10 bill so instead of $2.50 tip, I left $11.50 tip on a bill for $13. I only noticed my error later on in the day, long after we had left the Diner. The waitress must have reeled over my generosity. I hope it gave her pleasure! You can be sure that Ill be more careful in future! LOL!
Phillips Dinner is one of the best places to eat in OgdensburgI used to go there almost every day with my grandpa and some times my cousinsI cry almost every day thinking about NY I had to move but each time Im in Ogdensburg I always go they have the best foodI recommend the ham. And cheese omelet, pancakes
