Outstanding service at S & S. This is easily the best marina in CT if not the entire Northeast re: customer service.I kept my 24 Yamaha AR240 with them for 2ish seasons at their location in Old Saybrook. Their marina is situated nicely on the CT river right underneath the Baldwin Bridge. The cost was very reasonable for both summer and winter storage. Scott and I worked out an arrangement which allowed me to trailer my boat to/from the Baldwin ramp, allowing me to store my boat at at their location off of the water. Their facility is modern, beautifully appointed, secure, and inviting to guests. Their staff is highly knowledgable, and they take the time to ensure your boat is clean and properly tied when launched and retrieved. Their communication is responsive and clear, never ambiguous. I enjoy wrenching on my boat myself, so their staff was helpful in loaning the occasional tool and offering suggestions on maintenance. The only challenge with S & S happens to be on the water itself-- at changing tide, the current really rips through their location on the river. It takes a steady hand to deftly maneuver through tricky current/wind conditions in order to achieve a soft, secure tie-off at their dock (doesnt help that my AR240 is difficult to steer at idle-speed in the first place!). I would suggest that one of these jet-boat videos use S & S Marines dock for the ultimate pressure-test of steering/helmsmanship wrt one of these vessels. If you own a boat powered by a prop, your approach will be tons easier here.Scotts team prepared my boat for a cross-country transport from CT to Seattle, WA. The boat was adequately prepared resulting in the boat sustaining minimal damage from the cross-country trip. I wish these guys had a satellite location somewhere in Southern California where i live now. Thanks for the great experience, Scott & Melissa! I hope our paths cross again!!
I bought a boat from Scott at S&S last week and from contract to boat in the water-1 week. Scott is professional, courteous and hustles making sure all is done to perfection. The facilities at the marina are impeccable! Scott remains a great resource always available to answer any questions I may have. TG-Deep River.
Scott will take full advantage of every situation he can capitalize on. Scott is a scam Artis, and a con man. Scott will increases his estimates after work is started and will not complete the work until you agree with his new charges. Careful if you store your boat at his Facility for winter, his contracts are not accurate or complete and will only increase at the time of commissioning and releasing your boat. I suggest you do your research Google him and you’ll see.
They saved the day. Great team of guys !!! .. I just took delivery of my new boat and was bringing it home down the CT river, I was 128 miles from my destination, when one of the motors over heated and melted one of the water hoses...I called over the phone, as I was driving by them, not knowing what my next step was going to be, they said pull in, They stopped what they were doing, helped me get the boat into their slip as I only and one motor running Had their Techs jump right on it and I was underway within 1 hr... I would highly recommend doing business with them...Thank You So much !!!John & Nicole Franco
Great experience dealing with Scott and Mindy - they go the extra mile to get the job done and take care of the customer. I had a great experience with them and would highly recommend S&S to anyone! Fantastic to do business with!
Located just off I-95. I had the unfortunate experience of choosing this nearby parking lot to stop for a grand total of 5 minutes to help get my child cleaned up after he was carsick. Just as I was putting my car into reverse to leave, a man who bears a strong resemblance to the older brother in the Wonder Years pulls immediately behind my car with a very long trailer loaded with a boat. He approaches my car to mansplain that this was not a public parking lot and I shouldnt be there and he will have three more boats coming and it is too damn bad that Im there. I got out of my car to ask him how long he would be before I could move my car. He basically told me to deal with it. I yelled that he sucked as a human and if they dont want any cars entering their parking lot for any length of time they should post a sign. He told me he was going to call the police. I reversed around said trailer with boat while he talked to the office manger about how stupid people are. Yeah. Stupid me for encountering him.
Pleasant experience!
