Took my wife here to get her first board. She has been wanting to take up a new hobby. Best customer service I have ever seen in any store I have ever been in. They started with finding the right board for her, wheels, bearings, everything. They even installed it all for us and extremely friendly.

I was the first time buyer of pro skateboard and was given a board with pink bottom. I asked my son why he was using the old skateboard. He said its because of the pink bottom. Then, I dont understand why the store gave me a pink bottom for a boy. Now they dont do return or exchange. Its only two days since the purchase. Over a hundred dollars is wasted. I recommend you go to amazon to purchase. At least you have an option to return if anything is wrong.

I highly recommend Contenders. I was able to shop via phone and text messages before even stepping foot in the door. Mark was so helpful and so patient with me explaining every step over the phone. Once o got in the store I was in and out. Also, Dylan was able to customize my daughters ride with stickers. Since it’s so hard to find specific boards they spent time to design it for me with the stickers I brought in.

We had a great experience. My 8-year-old was getting his first board. We showed up 20 minutes before closing because of delays on the Blue Line, but they didnt rush us, were patient when my son was indecisive, and were very helpful. We left feeling excited and well cared for.

This is the best skate shop they help you a lot and they are super friendly I really recommend this skate-shop. I got a skateboard setup and they were super helpful had a nice experience.

I just bought my first skateboard yesterday after learning how to skate with a pennyboard for a couple of months. i lowkey didnt wanna go to a mainstream shop like zumiez or tillys since i feel like u pay too much for a smaller selection of decks, wheels, etc. and they tend to not maintain authentic skateboarding culture in a meaningful way like most smaller skate shops, but thats just my opinion.after a friend of mine whos been skating for a couple of years recommended me to go to a local skate shop instead, i found contenders and i believe i made a great choice by going there! the guys working there were super chill and supportive and helped me customize my first board, and answered all questions i had as a beginner. they had a great variety of grunge decks too, which is what i was personally looking for. i left the shop less clueless ab deck sizes, truck brands, wheels, etc. so, u should come here! i 200% recommend.

I am new to the area but I have found Contenders to be a really awesome reminder of how skate shops can positively impact their community. From the friendly staff to their fair and really creative raffles for limited releases, I cannot recommend Contenders enough. Cool spot! Mark the owner is very knowledgeable and cool to work with. He built a board for my 7 year old nephew and chatted with him and I while building his board. Definitely referring him to my friends.

Awesome board shop, but even better service by owner Mark. We had lots of questions and took our time picking out the design with my 11 yr old daughter. Super rad, local shop. Marc was really friendly and helpful. I took my 8 yr. old boy who is just getting into skating, and it was really fun to see as he looked at the decks, and the skate videos on the tv, and all the stickers and stuff - just like I used too. You cant get that experience online. Support shops like Contenders so our kids can have a place to be excited about!

Dylan hooked me up quick with a SC deck with Indy 169s...i gave him the details and he took care of in15 minutes. Loved talking to the rats hanging out at shop....memories....great shop and on top of skates.

My wife went for a trip to Cali and found that they were the only store in California (and possibly the continental US) that carried old school Thrilla Krew shirts from T&C Surf Designs! Many thanks from the east coast!

The owner has always been super helpful, and everytime Ive gone in his selection and shop has improved bit by bit. I got my first board here and I even copped some unique pants here the other day. Ive never had a bad experience at this shop, love talking to the owner, and have only recieved quality goods from here. If you like all things skate or just appreciate art, stop in and check out the skateboards and tshirts. Who knows, you might even snag a pair of dickies work pants on your way out (theyre really popular right now haha).
