Very well stocked store with great sales people. Friendly and extremely well versed in boating.
The unfriendly, unprofessional, inexperienced, slow, disrespectful, lying man at the parts desk. To be more clear. ( Kevin ) is a waist of this companies revenue. I have never dealt with anyone in a customer service position that has treated me like that. I mean isnt it this mans job to serve the public that enters this store ? Treat them with respect and do what he can to help. Kevin needs to be tended to by upper management. Otherwise love this store.
Bought a used pontoon boat last year. Both pontoons leaked badly. Was told they were not covered by warranty. Paid $400 to have them fixed. Both still leak badly. Emailed Gary Sellers, no reply. Left a voicemail, no reply. Called the service department, they were rude. Will never spend another dime there. Once they get your money, they have no interest in helping with any problems. I do not recommend doing business with this company!
We have a great business relationship. Kevin is the most personable parts manager I’ve met in the state.
I have been going to SS Marine my whole life and they have always been great! The Orem location has been my go to for 3 years now and I have nothing but great things to say. A great business with great employees!! Highly recommend!!
The customer service is terrible. Terribly organized place and the guy who works the parts desk is extremely unfriendly
Went in for repairs, they say they told me what they were gonna do but they didnt really. Some of the employees are off putting and not very pleasant. They took like 8 months to get the job done. Based on experience I just cant give them a recommendation.. They did fix the boat but I didnt check it when I left and so there was another pull down there for them to get what they missed.. They price was a lot but I knew that going in so wont knock them for that..
We bought a boat today at SS marine, the experience was terrific. Jim & Dan were exceptional and professional. The team provided guidance and support thru our many questions. We highly recommend this organization and the support they offer.
Great place with friendly staff.
DO NOT TAKE YOUR BOAT HERE FOR REPAIRS! I cant emphasize this enough! They told us a week when we took it in. They had it for over 10 weeks...half the summer! Their customer service is terrible! Their employees are rude and they totally screen your calls. They never give straight answers when you call and they never call you. Take your boat to Aaron at Premier Marine. They actually work on it the day they tell you to bring it in..not let it sit in their yard for weeks before even looking at it.
They had my part so that’s why they get 2 stars. Service was a 1 star.
Pretty awful, actually! I’ve had a boat sitting there since May, it’s now end of August, and they can’t seem to fix it. The whole summer is lost, and have had to cancel so many planned trips. I’ve been given the run around, and felt like I’ve been lied to or given partial truths so many times I’ve lost count. “They’re working on it now...”, “Waiting on a part, should be here any day...”, “The mechanic says you’re up next...”. “I’m alone up here today (everyday) so I can’t go check”... On and on and on. If you can, avoid the dealership, avoid their service, and find another place. They just aren’t setup or staffed to be successful.
Awesome staff!!
Employee at the Parts Department desk deserves 100 Stars! Im in there picking up parts for my husband. Employee is always kind and knowledgeable! Always, great service and I never expect anything less when I walk in. Thank you SS Marine!
It has very knowledgeable staff and a lot of gear for boats. Its conveniently located to the lake.
I have been into SS Marine three times now. Each time I have been greeted by less than cordial staff. The parts department personnel are rude and unhelpful. Very unwilling to help if you are working on an older boat. Not only were they rude to me in person but to the individuals who called in while I was there. I walked out today due to poor customer service. I took a three minute drive west to Premier Marine where I was treated with respect and the gentleman found the part I needed in two minutes.
Kevin is THE MAN who saves the day in the parts department. See Jim for sales. Hell treat you like gold.
Kevin in parts is super helpful. Thank again
This Boat Store Is Not A Good Place! They Have Worked On My Bayliner Boat Multiple Times I Been Trying To Sale My Bayliner To Upgrade To A New Boat ! A Guy Was Coming To Buy My Boat When On His Way He Stopped At SS To Get A Part For My Boat And The Main Manager At SS Told Him “Sorry We Don’t Have Parts For Bayliners Because We Don’t Work On Those Boats So You Shouldn’t Buy That Boat” So They Guy Didn’t End Up Coming To Buy The Boat Because People From SS Told Him Not To! We Have Receipts To Prove That Shop Worked On Our Boat In April 2020!
Did not buy anything, but they were super helpful getting me in touch with people to help me service my boat. I appreciated their knowledge and their willingness to help someone that wasnt even a paying customer. Boats looked very nice, and they had quite the yard full of them. 100% would go back!
Helpful and friendly. Thank you for always taking care of us.
Helpful info once I got someone to help but I stood at the counter and a guy just looked at me and did his work and didnt offer to help for 7 minutes...pretty poor customer service
Ive bought two wakeboards, bindings, ropes and other accessories here and the staff is always helpful. Great people to work with and very knowledgeable.
Terrible service, I waited 3 weeks for them to winterize and un winterize my boat, they never touched my boat, then they lost the keys to my boat...totally unprofessional, I recommend finding a different place to take your boat!
Nice place, well stocked with a variety of items boaters need. Service was a little lacking though. Best dealer in Utah Co.
Good place great staff !
I took my boat in with a short list of issues to address, and they told me they had a two to three week backlog. Six weeks (and almost $500) later they only replaced my battery (which seemed fine when I took it in) and rebuilt the carburetor. They also dont seem to believe in proactive communication with their customers, so plan on calling them for updates. On a positive note, they were friendly when on the phone, which is what turned their 1-star performance into a 2-star review.
I have been here twice, both time for parts, today I was asking a price on a 6 gallon fuel tank and he turned his head to have a full blown conversation with someone else who worked there about another customer and boat like I wasn even there I waited about 3 minutes for him to get back to me but he was too involved with the other employee so I waked out. Dont waist you time going here for parts, go some where they might actually talk to you till you are done.
Great staff friendly and wont sell it to you unless you need it
We just purchased a used boat from here, and have received nothing but 5 star service from all employees. Multiple times theyve stayed passed closing time for us, with nothing but smiles and friendly service. Very up front about all costs and made us feel nothing but secure and 100% satisfied in our purchase. All around good people to do buisness with. Would recommend this company to any and everyone, your experience will be a great one!
We were stranded on our way to Powell and they helped us out. Everyone in the shop was kind and friendly. Great shop and professional employees.
Impressed at the knowledge of the staff. They were able to find parts for my 1971 machine and had advice on the repair I was making.
The absolute best guys Im the business! In a world of unknowns....which is marine mechanical......Cory and Mack are stand up guys that will shoot straight. Do yourself, and your boat, a favor and stop in to SS.
I took my boat in to have a couple minor things diagnose they told me it would take three to four days it has been their a week and they tell me it might take another week just get a one hour diagnosis. If they lie about how long it takes I wonder if they will lie about what needs to be done to fix it??? Who knows I think I will just go pick it up and take it somewhere else.
Great customer service! I highly recommend them!
Took my boat to them to have work done last October and I still dont have it back(8-6-13). It has been a nightmare and I could go on and on about how horrible they are at communication and how they have lied to me constantly and changed prices on everything multiple times....long story short stay away from these guys and the non stop headaches they will cause you.
Man, Kevin knows everything! Thank you so much for helping me get my old boat going!
Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. They have all of the right parts.
Went in to ask about a motor repair. Was completely ignored. Not even an acknowledgement like be right with you. Left and went home and tried to call twice, just got a message. Looks to me like they dont need my business or my money. Tried other marine places that actually cared about my business. Dont waste your time with these folks.
They carried the supplies that I needed which most stores around didnt. They were very nice and knowledgeable about chemicals.
Cant believe this place is still in business!! Terrible customer service, anemic inventory.Stay away not worth your time to visit.
The last few times Ive been into SS Marine, the service has been poor. Its usually always the same guy who helps me. He tells me he cant look up my part by my serial number to get the correct part. Every time he tells me the part I need is standard for the motor Im working on. I find I make several trips to SS Marine to get the right part, and when I finally do they have to look the part number up by the serial number in the first place which would have saved me lots of time and frustration. I gave them two stars because the last time I returned frustrated after getting the wrong part, a different salesman gave me the upgraded part at no extra cost which was probably 30 or $40 more than the original part. They do have a good selection of stuff, but they steer you in the wrong direction. It sucks that they are closer to me than any other Marine store, but I will not go back and seek advice or recommendations from them if I have time to make it to a different Marine store.
UPDATE: The manager contacted after reading my review and apologized for being overcharged. He refunded the difference.I purchased a new boat there in 2007. Management and personnel change every year. Most recent experience was getting my boat winterized and an oil change. The sheet for services listed this service at $360 - which I thought was steep. However, when I picked up my boat they charged me $460. When I brought attention to the service sheet on their counter, I was informed that price was labor only... Come on guys!
This place can order almost any thing you need four your boat. Great place for parts and accessories.
Quick & easy, and they always have what I need in stock
The last few times I went in to SS Marine, I waited forever for someone to help me, and did not feel like my business was appreciated.
DO NOT GO to SS Marine to have your boat covered with shrink wrap. They didnt do a proper job of covering it so the wind in the winter scratch our beautiful paint job really bad. I took it to them and Jim (Store Manager) didnt believe that his cover did that to our boat. He buffed it out, but was really upset that he had to do it and he took it out on me (the customer) instead of his employee that didnt put a protector sheet between the plastic and our boat trying to save a few $$ i guess. He never said he was sorry for ruining my paint job and only said Well, you are welcome for the free buff job we gave you. I was shocked at his attitude and will not go back there again. Done with SS Marine
I bought the least expensive boat on the lot and they have treated me like I bought the most expensive boat on the lot. I couldnt be happier. You guys have a customer for life. Thanks Guys!!!
Inaccurate time estimates and no sense of customer follow up. I dropped my boat off May 25 for a summerize, oil change and a couple small diag/checks. I was told by Jim that they were super busy with Memorial Weekend and he probably couldnt get to my boat until the next week. I said no problem and confirmed Tuesday/Wednesday (May 27/28) for the work to be done. He said no problem and he would call when he was done. Wednesday afternoon comes and I havent heard anything. I call in and am told they are super backed up and behind with jobs that took longer than expected and there are 3 boats ahead of me and mine should be done Thursday/Friday (May 29/30). Still never heard anything and called in Friday afternoon. They said there was 1 boat ahead of me now and they likely wouldnt get to mine until the following Monday (June 3). So I call Monday morning and get told there are now 2 boats ahead of me and it will probably be Tuesday/Wednesday (June 4/5) before they can get it done. I picked up my boat without being serviced and took it to another shop that got the work done within 24 hours. The communication with servicing is ridiculous at best. I only received a phone call after I told them I was coming to get my boat before they serviced it. Best case scenario they are short handed and arent accurately scheduling services. Worst case scenario they have no regard for customer service or their quoted time frames and are deliberately squeezing in boats before other waiting customers. This review isnt a 1 star because I had a good experience before with the winterization service and parts department.
Great service and fair prices.
From an SS Marine customer that first did business with Max on State Street:Well, the SS Marine folks dont run to you with open arms when you arrive, but they have a couple of guys, Cory and Wes, that DO understand that its the customer that counts. After hearing of a three week backlog/first come (and leave your boat) - first served and no specific promise date service scheduling system, I was ready to kiss the remainder of my summer goodbye.Understanding my frustration, Cory identified my problem immediately, showed me the parts to buy and went the extra mile to give me a brief checklist that invoved (gasp!) removing the outdrive. Wes, not to be outdone on the customer service front, loaned me a special tool that allowed me to do a three hour shop repair in three and a half hours, not bad for a rookie. Its sad to see that Max Henries legacy for excellence. is only a memory, as is the NSL Store and their EXCELLENT boat tech Craig, but they have a couple of guys in Orem that you can believe in. My hats off to Cory and Wes. They get it. Too bad they dont have a little more authority where it counts. Thanks, guys, this is a story I dont mind repeating. I completed the repair and got in a cruise at Strawberry, all on the same day. Thanks again - its SUMMER AGAIN!
Very helpful, friendly, and willing to lower price on an item until the product I wanted came in on order.
Cory and Jim were great to work with. They have made a life long customer out of me!
Four Winns dealer in Lindon Utah...I will never do business with these guys again and will discourage everyone I know from using them.I have had my new Four Winns boat in to them for various problems...get major attitude every time I go in...generally feel like I am getting ripped off... Wait for weeks for minor repairs, etcLast service cost me a lost prop. They dont know where it went even thought it came in with the prop...stayed there for three weeks for a wire replacement...went straight home to a locked garage. When I went back to see if they had it they said they could not help me. I am done with these guys!!!
Nice people always willing to help.
Im with Sheldon on this place...I also did a review on Heringer Marine just south of this place. I wouldnt put too much weight on A google User comments. I can almost guarantee that its an employee. Hardly anyone would go as far to say that I got a great price or ...I can see why and such. Really? The only place Ill go in Utah County is Heringer Marine. Been going there for years. (unless Im desparate...really desparate)
They had the part I needed.. Although the older man working the parts counter was very short tempered and rude to the customer in from of me and to me also.
Great boat dealer and boat shop.
Visit went well, helpful.
They did not service my new to me boat because the oils looked new. WOW! SAVED me hundreds, will never go anywhere else.
Parts order takes a long time and they forget to call you sometimes, but Jim over there is the man!
Little high priced but they usually have the part I need
Good friendly service
Great staff
Cool staff
I would not return for service
