Theyve got an amazing selection of guitars and amps. Everything from good quality beginner gear to some of the most unique guitars Ive seen in stock at any store in Utah or Salt Lake County. And they dont hover when youre checking stuff out.

Their customer service is outstanding!!! I rented a violin for my daughter and it had some finish flaws and they went above and beyond to make it right. Michelle is the sales person that helped me.

Great experience, I drove all the way down there looking for an epiphone les paul. All the stores up north either didnt sell epiphone or only had one finish in stock. Bert murdock had a great selection, not just of epiphone but a bunch of different makes. They had budget instruments up to top of the line gibsons and fenders. Staff was helpful and friendly. They packaged up my new guitar very well for the drive home. All in all I would absolutely shop here again

Burt Murdock MusicThis review does not reflect on the entire store as a whole, but to point out a particular dishonest employee that works for this music store. His name is Dave Heslington and if you happen to be dealing with him make sure your aware of your the entire transaction. I bought a guitar on 5/10/21 and attempted to return it on 5/11/21. Dave told me that he would not accept the instrument back and will not refund my money, after pretending to be inspecting for defects, and found only a factory workmanship defect. He then claimed that since I bought it defected that I was fully responsible for it. In other word purchased as is. Like a used items with the caveat buyer beware. He threaten to call the police not realizing that it would only reveal his dishonesty in dealing with me. I was lucky that there was an honest employee Ryan (co-owner maybe) that was honest enough and resolved the situation. He attributed the defect to the factory that assembled the guitar. Gave me a full refund and wished me a nice day.Note this does not reflect on the whole music store. There are good and honest employee working there like Ryan. My only caveat is for anyone purchasing items at the store to be careful if you happen to be dealing with a dishonest employee like Dave Heslington. Be very cognizant of your entire transaction.

The service was fantastic and very helpful, and the prices street pretty decent. Great selection of instruments as well. The only problem is that I use a wheelchair and some places between items I couldnt fit.

Had a great experience when it came to helping my daughter maintain her instrument. The manager was great to explain how different brands of several different products work and what differences were. There was no pushing or upsaling. They also didnt push us out of the store even though it was past closing time. He took his time to make sure we left with questions answered and our violin in great condition!! We will be with them for all our kids instruments!

Theyve been around for years and Ive had great experiences there. The staff is helpful and not paid by commission. Great local store that has great prices. Most recent purchases for me included a piano and accessories that were as good as online prices!

I took my daughters violin here to be priced for repairs and what another store quoted me to fix was nearly 300 dollars. Bert Murdock fixed and told what I could do for 67 dollars. I will always go to them how. They were fair, knowledgeable and so incredibly nice

Great music store. Staff members were very helpful and took the time to educate me on the ins and outs of violas. They had various price points from the cheap, to medium, to high price points. Theres something for every budget. They offer 2 different warranties, one of which you can trade your instrument for half price and the other is, you trade in for the value you paid for. If you ever need to upgrade your instrument, they will give you the full value of your old one towards the price of the new one. Awesome place!

Bought a new Fender Tele and it had some problems from the factory. Kyle went out of his way to have Fender make it right, even changing his day off so he could drop it off many miles away. It took a while to get it done, but the extra effort was appreciated. (and the warranty repair ended up being an upgrade, a bone nut instead of whatever it came with as well as figuring out how to make the noiseless pickups noiseless) Thanks Kyle.

Very poor customer service from the manager. I was unhappy because they are charging me for a full month rental fee plus insurance because I have a signed month to month contract. My contract renewed yesterday a Sunday. I was unable to come on Saturday. So first I have to wait for him to come over because the other employees did not know how to help me. They at least gave good service. He actually argued with me about how he works more than 40 hours a week ... He tried to compare renting an instrument to renting a car. I know that if I rent a car for a week and then I turn it in after only one day, they prorate the price. But not Bert Murdock Music. There system is not able to do such a thing an apparently neither is their management. I probably wouldnt be so upset, except for the fact, that I am a long time customer. I have rented various instruments from them for a total of six years. But I think that there policy is ridiculous and very customer friendly. And I wont be back.

I needed a strong replaced on a violin. They were very knowledgeable with my violin. It was quick and easy.

They have a great variety of instruments and competitive pricing. They do also offer payments plans. There is a little interest if the payment plan goes past 6 months. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for great quality instruments.

I have only shopped here for the piano music so I cant review the whole store. From my experience, it looks like they cater this store more from instrument buying/renting.I am a piano teacher and they offer a small discount to teachers. The only downside is that the piano music options are extremely limited and usually I have to have extra copies of lesson books ordered because they dont have more than one or two of a specific lesson book on hand.However, they are quick to order, they call when its available and the staff is so friendly.

Ive been going here since I was a kid, they are always extremely helpful and the prices are great. They also do repairs and rentals that always get good feedback!I do wish they had a little more selection, feels like the inventory doesnt update too often.

Great place for repairs. The guys here seems to know what he’s doing. My poor trombone has been damaged several times in marching band, and every time I’ve come here they’ve gotten it fixed up within a reasonable time for a reasonable price.

I love this place. My family has been coming here for the last 30 years! It was always so fun to go and pick out our piano music; a book we had to have and a book for fun.The staff was always so helpful, when my siblings and I got into band at school, knowing just what we needed.Now Im taking my girls here to get their music books for band class. All they need to know is the instrument and the school and you are in and out of there in less then 5 minutes! The staff just gets better and better!

Sales rep flat out lied to my wife to get her to buy the cello. I called back in with a pretty reasonable offer: shes never used it, wed had it for 3 days, so wed pay their usual 1 month rental fee and bring it back. The rep just kept saying no, no, no and wouldnt let me talk, then HUNG UP ON ME! He didnt care, hed made his commission and my wife had signed the contract. When I called back, he didnt answer and wouldnt take my call when I asked to speak to him. Never, ever, ever again. You will be lied to. You will over pay. You will not be treated with basic human decency. Buyer beware.

I walk in with my beloved tenor sax for repairs imagining that they would take it, and have it fixed a few days later. To my happy surprise, the repairman Rick called me in, and fixed the few minor issues with my sax right there in front of my eyes within a couple minutes.He smiled, gave it back, and told me to play around on it to see if the issues were fixed. Playing it was so magical, reminding me of when I played it for the first time. I was ecstatic, and when I tried to pay he smiled again and said no no, its on the house.Needless to say I walked out of there 10 minutes later with a huge smile on my face, and would for sure recommend this shop to any and all!

Went in to buy a guitar and no one was there to help. Went over to the managers desk to see if they were still open he rudely told me to wait. Finally after waiting 10 min, he let me know which guitars looked the coolest and left. That is not how guitar buying works.

Im a music instructor, and I can honestly say there is no reason to go here when Best in Music and Summerhays are just up the road. Their staff is nice, but a student and I had a very poor experience with their guitar technician. If you are looking for guitar/Ukulele music, instruments, or tune-ups, go to Best in music up 800. If you are looking for Piano/Orchestral music, instruments, or tune-ups, go to Summerhays. Save yourself the headache.

I am paying for my grandchildrens musical instruments. My daughter returned an instrument 2 days after the end of the billing cycle. I am being charged for the entire month. I called and complained and was told that they couldnt change the contract policy for one person. I told them I would use another store. I have 27 grandkids in this area and am fine using another store.

These guys are so good to work with us on our instrament repairs. They are knowledgeable, kind and fast.

I have purchased a guitar from both Guitar Center and Bert Murdock, and I highly recommend Bert Murdock Music. David helped me find the right steel string guitar and was extremely helpful and friendly. He didnt try to push me outside of my price range or make me feel like I had to buy a nicer guitar. He is very knowledgeable, but didnt try to show off.The selection might not be quite as large as the Guitar Center in Salt Lake (although its about the same as the Guitar Center in Orem), but the environment and customer service is much more personal.I am completely satisfied with my experience with Bert Murdock Music. Keep up the great work!

This place may not look like much from the outside - big cinderblock building along the 15 - but once inside it is like stepping into another world. Great selection of guitars, pianos, drums, and other instruments. The sales guy was really helpful.

Good variety in the mid-price range. Show floor a little confused and disorganized. Not a great depth of selection but they have everything from 7-string guitars to tubas. Good shop.

They have a great selection of instruments and equipment. The pricing is alright but the people that run the place shouldnt run a music store. They let you play the instruments but hover over you and dont let you play for very long. They just want you to buy and not to enjoy yourself. Its great for a few minutes but you get tired of it.

I rented a violin for my daughter in 2008 returned it a few months later. fast forward 2016 over $800 in on my credit from Bert murdock ripoff. I was a single parent and struggling. I called them and they would not budge taking this off my credit. They got their violin back in excellent condition in 2008 why charge me? Its so unfair. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere for your musical instrument rentals.
