I was excited for our anime night. It was really fun and everyone was nice. The treats and drinks were an extra treat we werent expecting and we thought that was really cool! I felt a little lost throughout and rushed/anxious. 2 of our 3 pieces didnt turn out, but they did replace them and said we could come back any time they are open and repaint new ones, which I truly appreciated. Depending on what you do, it can be pricey, but especially now a days, I can understand why. Overall, well be back to redo our pieces and even keep an eye out for future events. ☺
Usually good, helpful staff members. (We have had one bad experience in the past.) Very expensive pottery choices.
We had a family birthday party, 3 generations, including 3 teens. It was great! They are do nice and make great coffee and smoothies!
Ceramic Cafe is a fantastic place for your next family outing, group activity, or even date night. The staff was super kind, knowledgeable, and helpful to our 11 person group. Any age and skill level is welcome.First, they seat you at your table. Then you pick out your piece. There is a ton to choose from, bowls, plates, serving trays, mugs, cups, pots, figurines, piggy banks, and on and on. Then you write your name on the bottom with a special pencil that stays during firing (even if you paint over it). Then you choose your colors, the staff will get the colors for you. They also have special speckle and glitter paints. Next you can outline your design in pen, not pencil. Pen disappears during the firing process, unlike pencil which will still show up after firing. Then you paint! They also have special detail tube paints for lines and writing. If youre a serious painter, bring your own brushes and tools as theirs get used by many people and wear out quickly. After painting, the pieces are ready to be picked up in about a week.Walk-ins are welcome, but call ahead if you have a group of 6 or more. Our group stayed for over 3 hours and they did not rush us or kick us out.Ceramic pieces range from $10-$75 (most are $16-$25), but unlike other ceramic paint places there are no other studio fees! Specials are listed on their website. We didnt do any glass fusing, but they have that too! They also offer all kinds of parties and even off-site painting (they will come to you)! On-site parties are welcome to bring any food or beverage too.Great location. There is plenty of parking. Its also only a 6 minute drive from Jack Stack OP (and many other restaurants nearby too).
The family and I had a great time! Staff was helpful and provided a great experience.
They have classes and Als do drop ins. Great selection and pricing. Good folks work here, super nice and helpful!
I take the 6 year old twins I nanny for here about once a week and they ask to come even more frequently. It is such a cool place and the kids can really be creative with what they paint. The staff is always kind and accommodating and they have everything you need to make beautiful creations. Boys and girls of all ages really enjoy painting and making things they can take home and be proud of.
My friend and I took kits home and the employee helping us forgot to give us my bag of paints (understandable human error). When we got to OLATHE and realized the error we were bummed until we called and they offered to drive the paints out to us! Staff was super friendly and the studio cost was figured into the cost of the pottery. I would definitely come back.
Was fun to do glass, would come back
My son and I had so much fun painting Easter ceramics. The staff was really friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!
So fun! Large variety of ceramic projects, friendly staff, easy to book an appointment and I LOVE my finished piece. I cant wait to go back!
Very very happy with everything Ive gotten. I have participated in two specialized events, the Harry Potter and the Nightmare before Christmas. Both were very well done. The specialized food was amazing as was the product we painted. Every year on my birthday we come to make plates with my kids, always receiving the help we need and the end result is beautiful. My only complaint is that there isnt a location in North Kansas City.
Went to Ceramic Cafe with a group of 7 and had an amazing experience. The two women working with us were super knowledgeable in helping us make our ideas come to life. The prices for the ceramics were slightly high in my opinion (I think the bowl in the pic was $15 or $16), but the friendly and helpful service and additional tools (whatever you needed to make your piece awesome... Stickers, stencils, all the paint you wanted, tape, brushes, etc.) made it worth it. We could also bring in snacks and had privacy in the back room. Definitely recommend for a night of fun!
Super friendly employees. A great way to spend a peaceful hour.
Im not much of an artist but this place was a lot of fun! We were looking for a good date night activity and ended up spending 2 hours painting a coffee mug! The ladies working were very helpful, and my only regrets are that we didnt show up earlier to put more detail on the mugs, and that I cant take it home tonight!
It was ok. The people there were nice
I love it here. It is so much fun and relaxing
I have been here a few times. Staff is super friendly helpful and very encouraging. My husband even likes it.
I took my husband and three kids on Sunday afternoon. From the reviews and website, Id expected a more guided experience, but we were pretty much on our own after a three-minute lesson. The experts were busy helping with a birthday party. We asked for help a few times and got some assistance from a teenager who didnt seem too sure. Overall, I wasnt happy with our final piece. Its unlikely well be back. The people are nice and its a cute place. I wouldnt suggest it for a family outing, but its probably a nice place to go if you are an accomplished painter.**EDIT: A woman called from the cafe to apologize for our experience. She offered for us to come again, but I declined. Instead, she repainted the name on our piece, and must have done some other touching up, thank goodness. I am happy with the plate we got. I updated from two stars to three for the extra call and pretty platter. However, this was my plan for my family for my birthday. I had emailed to set it up a few days ahead. It wasnt fun and I was sorry Id chosen it over other activities that my kiddos might have enjoyed more.
This is a great spot if you have older friends or kids. I dont think the younger kid would really understand what was happening so bring older people. The staff is friendly and kind but it is VERY pricey. I did a standard bowl for $25 which is really pricey.
An amazing experience even during covid, sometimes its hard to get hold of the staff and sometimes it seems like they arent really in the mood to assist, but they have many many options to paint, a fun time to go with your family.
What a wonderful place! You pay for the piece and the paints, along with the glaze and firing are all included in the cost of the piece, this eliminates any surprise costs. The place is relaxing and chill, the staff are incredibly helpful and filled with information to help you get the most out of your project! I am not an artist and was able to create a piece that I am rather proud of. If youre looking for something fun and creative to do at a reasonable rate, this is the place! They are kid friendly and even have pieces specific to children and host birthday parties. They have discounts on different days so keep an out for those.
Had a blast!
My sister and I went for a special Halloween ceramic tree painting event and had such a great time! We felt completely safe with their COVID-19 protocols. Every group had at least 1 table between them and the next group, and they had plexi glass dividers between groups. We weren’t able to finish our trees in the allotted time period - so we were given the option to come back later or bring home supplies that they packed up for us to complete in the safety of our own homes. They did a great job with their special event, they made us feel like they were taking COVID-19 protocols seriously, and the end product turned out great!
Overall fun place with lots of options. I only had two complaints. They dont take reservations for groups under 6 people, and you cant get your own paint. They have to pour it for you. This is great for beginners, but Ive been glazing ceramics for 6 years and wanted a little more independence in the process. That being said it was still a fun shop to visit. Employees are all friendly and prices are reasonable.
This is a fun place to go to be creative. We went with a group, which made it even better. It was pretty busy (we went on a Sunday), but it was a fun, upbeat atmosphere. It is definitely worth going! Plan for about 2 hours.
This was our first time here and it was amazing. The options were unlimited. The prices were reasonable and the staff was awesome!! They were helpful and knowledge. They came by several times to check on us and even talked about how great our pieces were with us. I will definitely be going back with more of my loved ones!!
This is a fun place... you get be creative and a very laid-back atmosphere. They have many Plain ceramic projects available to glaze.. they do seem a little pricey but it was fun😊
I was a part of a girls party where we meet once a month, and it was my first time attending. The reservation was for the back of the place where we would have some privacy, but when called to check and make sure everything was set up, we were told the room was in use for a class so we had to sit in the front of the place instead. However, the employeez went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable in the front and gave us an extra table for food/drinks. I personally thought the price of some ceramics were kind of high, but the employees are super nice and the overall place is an amazing and eccentric experience for family.
The staff was friendly and my piece was done a few days earlier than I expected. I do wish they had come to check on us after we got started so I could ask more questions but overall it was great. I especially love that they include the studio fee in the price of the item so you know what you are paying up front. I would highly reccomend this place for a rainy day project with the kids or a girls group.
Staff was very attentive and helpful. I dont consider myself a creative person, but I went at the suggestion of my niece (with her and her brother), and had fun! Im looking forward to seeing my finished project. (It takes about two weeks for the piece to be fired.)
Had fun creating our gnomes at home and painting them onsite. Friendly and helpful staff.
Very fun place. They have 100s of pieces to choose from, and they are all priced. There are no extra fees so you know what you are getting into. The staff is AMAZINGLY helpful. They have tons of tools, paint and supplies, and will give you what you need. They even helped my kid fix her mistakes. Bonus: on Thursdays, groups of 4 or more get $5 off each piece!!!
Our car was nearby at Firestone for 5 hours and I think this was the best possible way to spend our time. The staff were so helpful and walked me through what to do. Im not an artist but I adore my little dragon!
We held our Christmas Party here early this year and added a glass fusing project to the event. Were structural engineers that do design calculations for commercial window walls, glass entry and curtain wall engineering so getting creative with glass was a blast! Our two teachers/helpers were very skilled and did an excellent job assisting our party of 15. The atmosphere and inspiring projects were amazing. Its made us want glass decorations all around our new office. Thanks Ceramic Cafe!
Always a good time. Staff is friendly and helpful. Great place to spend time with friends and family resulting in a cool piece of custom art to commemorate your visit.
This is seriously one of the coolest places to relax and practice some real mindfulness. If you are at all a fan of arts & crafts you’ll have a great time. It’s never very loud, there’s plenty of space, and everyone that I have encountered so far has been very helpful in their explanations and facilitation of getting you from start to finish on your project. My days off are usually spent at this fun location. They have a plethora of options to choose from as far as whatever object you would like to paint and prices are SO FAIR considering what the piece is and how long you hang out to finish that piece. On average I spend $22-$30 each time I go. One good idea that I’ve seen parents do (in order to avoid possibly paying for four different children to each do their own project) is have two or three kids work on a family piece and take turns doing sections of it. As far as space and atmosphere, it has a large open area with many tables to choose from, as well as very good natural lighting. If you do happen to go on the weekend, just remember they are only open from 12-5 (Sundays) I would like to encourage people to understand that because you may have to use three layers of paint to get that opaque finish, please don’t underestimate how much time you may be spending there. I wouldn’t recommend walking in with any less than 2.5 hours to get to work. People that come in with about an hour of time to get things done, I do notice, are a bit rushed and maybe may not even be able to complete their art that day. They are very transparent about how long it will take to get your finished product after it has been fired in the kiln. They are over generous with this report seeing as every time I have done one, they may tell me it will not be ready for two weeks. Which is totally expectable, but honestly at this point they have called me 4 DAYS later letting me know it is ready for pickup. All in all it’s a fun, family friendly environment and the staff is always very kind and helpful.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Fun activity for kids or adults. Cant wait to get the call that our masterpiece is ready for pick up
Such a fun place! I stopped in there on a Friday night with a little boy I was babysitting. The two girls working were super friendly and willing to answer any questions we had. I haven’t painted my own pottery in years, so I definitely had a blast.FYI turnaround is roughly a week and a half-ish to get your piece back. They do a ton of business!
My daughter and I had a great time. The staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.
Good idea but the execution needs some work. I imagine they are busy this time of year, but if you are going to guarantee something for a certain date, make sure its ready. And if someone calls to check on something I would make sure you have a better answer than we cant find that order.
I brought two of my grandsons (ages 12 & 9) we just had a wonderful time. We enjoyed picking out our projects, the colors - to sponge or not to sponge, using stencils - many choices. The staff was most helpful, ready to answer any questions. A great place to go.
So much fun! Great activity to do with kids or adults. I came in to do some tiles of my newborns feet for gifts for grandparents. The woman who helped was really great! She did 4 tiles so quickly my baby didnt even seem to mind the glaze on his foot because she worked so fast. It was spring break week, so they were busy for a weekday, but still very helpful. Definitely coming back again.
Great environment, great staff very friendly and attentive. I brought my kids here to make fathers day gifts and they had a blast!
Love coming to relax and paint/glass! This place deserves much more! If there was a higher rating I would rate it higher! Amazing place!
Nice open space and relaxing atmosphere. The staff was great with our questions and kids making noise. They were also helpful with getting footprints from my children.
Went into schedule a reservation for my granddaughters birthday coming up in July. Staff was very friendly and super helpful prices are very reasonable for what you get to do. The pottery and Glass works that youre able to paint would be priceless as a memory plus you have your artwork or pottery that you created to display for years to come.
This is my second time visit to ceramic cafe.. I was introduced to this process when i live in Lawrence, ks. I now live in kc and will continue to go to ceramic cafe. Its very family/ kid friendly. They have high chairs if you need them. The staff knows what actual customer service is. The prices compared to other ceramic places are excellent being they have no paint/ studio fee. If you think they are pricy go somewhere else you will be back to the cafe for the customer service. Thank you ceramic cafe for helping my family create timeless memories that are forever in our home.
I was very pleased with my experience, I took in my four month old son to have feet prints done and the ladies there were more than happy to help. They explained exactly what I needed to do and then showed me where to find all the the supplies I needed to complete the project I was creating. The Ceramic Cafe was an overall very calm welcoming atmosphere and I will return for future projects!
Fun place to paint whatever you want! Friendly staff and great turn around time in having your ceramic ready to go!
My daughter and I came here for a mommy-daughter day out and had so much fun. There was no rush, we were able to take our time and really enjoy the experience. We will be back for sure!
The staff is most helpful and nice. The variety and examples are great. If your looking for someplace peaceful then I would suggest going to ceramic cafe.🙂
Our kids love going to the Ceramic Cafe! We do their breakfast with Santa every year and its such a fun, intimate way for our kids to see Santa and make an ornament for our tree.
Had a great time. Made a glass wind chime. Turned out really great. The employees are very nice and cater to your needs.
Best experience ever. Staff were SO helpful.
Loved the options they had to pick from, great with the kids also. Felt the space was too small for how many tables/people they have
Fun activities with kids. You can great art using glass or clay if you would like or paint an already created clay object
In Kansas City for the day & decided to do something fun different & we were not disappointed. Very cool place, friendly & lots of selection! Thank you! We will be back
We had so much fun, we will definitely be going back!
Weve been to a couple of parties here and the kids and teenagers have a great time creating! The staff is very helpful and friendly.
Tons of fun and a great variety of projects! The prices seemed fair and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Fun activity with friends or family and not too expensive. Great way to use creativity even if you dont consider yourself an artist.
Awesome place. Super fun for kids or adults. Employees are very nice and helpful!
Very cute & clean. My daughter attended a birthday party and it was great.
Fun spot. The attendants were helpful and informative. Super nice! Selection and samples were great.
We had a fun time decorating ornaments!
Very enjoyable studio for individuals or groups. Staff is friendly, helpful and is has knowledge of techniques to help achieve great pieces of art
We made ornaments with our kids there. A really cool concept well done.

Very friendly and helpful employees, reasonable prices, and they accommodated a rush request for an event.
Lots of choices of items to paint. We went for a birthday party and it was a great time.
