I rely on Penzeys spices for everything and as a past, successful restaurant owner, will continue to gift Penzeys to my friends, family and highly recommend to others.

Whenever I find a recipe with some spice I have not heard of this is where I look first. And then I end up with other things I didnt plan to buy because their spices and herbs are so much better than what you find at the grocery store. Also I appreciate that they require masks.

The stores curbside-only policy is stated both on the front page of their site and here on Google Maps. Im glad Penzeys is keeping their employees safe, and not making them enforce a mask policy in a store where people like to smell things. Online ordering was quick, and they called me within 15 minutes of placing my order to set up a pickup time; my items were waiting for me on a shelf by the door when I arrived. Easy process, and quality product.

I have shopped at Penzeys for years. I drove half an hour to the store today and quickly realized it isnt open the the public yet. I called curbside to see if I could get an order filled since I was there and was told by a very snotty employee that they didnt have time and I needed to go home and order. Also reminded me in a condescending tone this has been the case since last March. During the pandemic I have ordered online and have it shipped to my house. I wanted to get a last minute thank you gift and my usual order. I thought I could get this curbside. I think it would be beneficial if you said exactly how you handle curbside. Especially since the curbside sign I called from said you could help me out. (Not that you have to order online and wait for a call) Maybe other others wouldnt have to feel like a burden for trying to buy things from your store then.

Love their spices, am tired of their political rhetoric. For several years I have ignored their rants, believing everyone has a right to their opinion, and even sometimes agreeing with them, but they have just gotten too far into the decisive, my way is the only way mentality that I think is tearing our country apart. Why not use your platform to work for knowledge and unity? Maybe even give both sides of the story, because most of is are not single minded in our political commitments. If you love good spices and herbs, without the ugliness of rants and talking down to lectures, I highly recommend Savory Spice or Burlap and Barrel, both respectful and ethical businesses.

The staff at Penzeys were great! Granted due to pandemic, no in store shopping, order online. Then can do store pickup or ship to you. I have an actual store front in my area so thats what I do.When could shop in store, staff was always super kind & helpful! Still are!

Same as others. Walked up as I didnt know did they were only doing web orders. Called them and they said I still had to order via the web and wait for the other orders to be filled (hours later) even though I was standing outside their door. Easy, Ill take my business elsewhere

My go-to place for spices that I need and spices that add that something special to everything! Staff is super helpful and friendly!

We love Penzeys and drive about an hour to get there. We only use their spices. They have a much more robust flavor than anything at the grocery store and their employees are wonderful! Their online ordering and curbside pick up works well and weve used it several times since the pandemic began. We miss going in the store, but we do believe they are doing what is right and I hope everyone continues to support them through all of this!

Drove to your shop from South Overland Park, only to find your doors locked!Would have been nice if your website had this information before we made the trip!It only said OPEN! How closing on a Saturday to “HELP” people has just backfired! You just lost a long time customer.

I discovered Penzeys while attending The Farmers Market in Overland Park, KS. My husband and were so impressed by the cleanliness, the easy set up for spice displays, the beautiful aroma, the friendliness of the staff to help out, and of course the freshness of the spices are out of this world. You never know how long a spice has been on the shelf at the store, but you can tell immediately when you open a jar of Penzeys spices, that it is fresh as can be. Thank you to all of you at Penzeys for caring enough to be there for all of us who love your fresh spices, that during these hard times we can at least still buy your fresh spices.

Was told about this amazing place by one of my elderly friends. Theres so many amazing products.i wish I found them sooner.

It says online that it is open but I drove through a some today to get a spice I needed for a dish for the super bowl party tomorrow to learn they are riding the lazy train of COVID and claiming continued fear that they might be the .01% to get sick and die I guess. They are still closed and doing all business online. So much for the ton of groceries in my back seat for tomorrows dish that need that spicy. Maybe they should update their online information with Google. If big box stores can manage to function with hundreds of people in and out each day and create jobs it is time for the mom and pop stores to quit belly aching and step up or step out.

Went to Penzey Spices today only to find they are still not open to the public. This seems ridiculous that a retail store is still hoping to stay in business via curbside pickup only. I recommend reopening very soon before you have permanenelty discouraged any customers you might have left.

Always have what you need and a few things you never thought youd need

I drove 86 miles to Penzys to get spices, I was going to place an order when one of the many workers came out and told us they couldnt take any more orders. It was 3:00, they close at 5:00, but they were closing at 4:30. We could come back the next day to pick it up. When we explained how far we had come all she said was sorry. This is the second time we have had no service from Penzys, I love their spices but not enough to try again.

I drove forty minutes to shop at this store. I didn’t realize until arriving that they’re only open for curbside. I saw a sign outside that said to call and they would assist me. When I asked about ordering, I was told that I’d have to place an order, and they’d eventually let me know my pickup time. I asked if I could just order and pick up now, but instead of someone taking my order, I was reminded of how that would be such a massive inconvenience that they couldn’t do it. I was kind of stumped, here I am, seeing local businesses talk about how they’re struggling, I’m begging these people to take my money and I’m somehow inconveniencing everyone in the store. I typically spend $75-$100 on spices each time I come here, I also gift spices to family, but thus will be the last time I’ll attempt to inconvenience you with my business. Your product is amazing, but your staff needs some serious training. I hope this business model is sustainable. I will not return.

Too political. They just sent an 800+ word email lecturing their customers on how to vote and belittling half their customer base for their political affiliations. I just wanted a good spice store. When I want preaching I go to church.

Got what I wanted. Was not aware that the store was closed and only taking orders over the phone or on line. All the other stores in the area are open for walk in business. I explained to the person who answered the phone that I was outside. She reluctantly took my order (as a one time favor) telling me how busy they normally are and cant fill orders while you wait.Should they not be greatful you a loyal and not going to Amazon for your spices.If they are to busy, why not hire order takers and order fillers and bless each loyal customers who are hard to come by?

Well, let’s preface this tale with the assertion that the spices are incredible. Now let’s get to the amazing experience that was attempting to shop there. This location is prime real estate in downtown OP, and as it turns out, might as well be off the beaten path is some random shopping center. It is certainly worth noting that we are in the time of COVID and as such, shopping has changed. To that end, the store has some delightful signs facing the street asserting that one can either buy online, or you can call them at the number listed on the sign and an employee would be happy to help you. My wife was able to discover that an employee was not, in fact, willing to help out. We approached the front door, reading the signs in the windows as we walked, and upon reaching the door, saw that there was no option to enter the store. Fair enough, COVID is not to be trifled with. As to try to not waste the trip, my wife called the listed number and an employee opened the door, proceeded to cut her off, ignore the “we’ll help” signs, and demand the order be placed online. So much for calling and speaking with a helpful employee. Also, the store is sitting there with plenty of stock, but when one orders online, there is a 24 hour wait time along with a demand that you not even approach the store until you receive a call giving you clearance. Overall, this business has great product, but if you are purchasing in the time of COVID, be prepared to be talked down to in every step of the process.Update: they do not in fact do curbside pickup. You are instead required to walk up to the door and sort through the pile of packages to find your own.

Great selection. Friendly awesome staff. My boyfriend and I went in in search of tandoori spice. Because hed been looking everywhere for it. The guy working there said yes we have it and took him right to it, everywhere else wed looked the staff gave him a look like he was making up words. We looked around and found other amazing spices that we couldnt live without, I kept finding more and more that I wanted (probably will end up buy at least 1 of everything before long) The female working there was so nice and gave me a history of the store when Id find a spice I was interested in she would suggest uses for it and a real idea of what flavor(s) it would add to the dish. We will be there on a regular basis and have found our new favorite spice and seasoning shop. Could not recommend this shop more, great selection; amazing service and extremely knowledgeable staff too. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Penzeys has the best selection of spices I have ever found and always great prices and deals. I look forward to going to Penzeys to see if they have anything new and sometimes just enjoy smelling all the delicious spice blends. I like that the spices always smell and taste so fresh and that they will make recommendations on what to use them for if you arent familiar with what you are getting. The staff always seems knowledgeable and friendly as well. Glad to have a store so close to home.

I love this place!!! The spices they have are of a very quality, many do not have salt in them, which is fantastic!!!! The staff is also fantastic!!! They are extremely helpful and just a joy to be around. They make the shopping experience worth the trip!

Not a fan of this place.

For spices and mixes, it’s robust and I use them all the time.- Their vanilla rocks!- Bicentennial Rub is almost like a BBQ rub.- I use the Wasabi powder in my hamburger when I’m cooking it - I find it enhances the flavor without overwhelming it.- Toasted Onion Powder is AWESOME!- I bought a bag of Bay Leaves and they are so fragrant with so much more flavor than the options in grocery chain stores.- Roasted Garlic is great!- Dutch Process High Fat Cocoa smells heavenly and is just as good in homemade brownies.

I love Penzeys! Got hooked on it from the first time I had Arizona Dreaming in a beef chili! I also love the Sunny in Paris on eggs of any sort, but what keeps me shopping there is their willingness to be truthful in a time when others aren’t! To stand up for what is right and to have the strength to speak out even if it may cost them business. I tell everyone I know about Penzeys and love to pass extra spices out when I can! Thank you Bill and Penzeys for being a voice for real people!

Love this shop! Quaint location in old downtown Overland Park KS. Giant selection of spices and spice blends, some salt free, bonus! Gift boxes and coorporate magazine with recipes available. Warm and friendly staff. Be sure to visit some of the other small businesses nearby, great area atmosphere.

You wont buy any other spices after trying these! I now have 4 different cinnamons!!!! 4 !!! There is a huge difference in each one! As well as so many others. I promise it wont disappoint

Love this shop! The staff is always delightful and helpful. There are so many delicious spice mixes available. The vanilla section is fantastic! Im a chef and most of the spices I use come from Penzeys. They also carry a great selection of gift box spice sets and even carry sample sizes for you to try.

Ive gone here multiple times and I love their spices. Today though - they lost my service. It was beyond cold outside and they didnt open the door. It was well past opening hours. All I wanted was some Arizona Dreaming. Not anymore. They clearly dont value my time or money.

Always go to Penzeys when I am in town! The staff is always super friendly and extremely helpful with any questions. Spices are always incredibly fresh and full flavored even their seasoning blends are great and add a wonderful touch to all your dishes. If I may suggest check out the Roasted Garlic powder! Also final thing sign up for their emails and get free stuff!

Excellent selection, reasonable prices, friendly staff. My favorites are Fox Point, Shallot Pepper, Vietnamese Cinnamon, and Ruth Anns Chicken and Fish seasoning. 💜 Their political voice!

Their spices are much more potent, full of flavor. Strongly recommend their pepper (really packs a punch!) And the Chicago mixed seasoning for grilling. Its perfect for burgers, steaks, and anything else you want to throw on a grill!

Cute little shop nestled in a mini strip mall. An employee stated they have been in the same location for 17 years, which is pretty impressive especially with the political stance, often stated, of their CEO. I was unhappy to find out they no longer ship, which dropped the rating, but still a pretty nice place to stock up on spices.

I started my love affair with Penzeys several years ago when I received a few as a gift. It wasnt until I moved into the area that I really started my spice collection. The store is well stocked, friendly employees, and theres always something new! Sign up for the emails if you want to get coupons for free spices!

Their blends are great pricey though better to go to the KC farmers market 1/4 cup scoop for 2 bucks.

I love all of the spices I have received here. They are very fresh. It is a great place to shop for gifts and they have a nice gift set selection. If you sign up for the mailing list they send coupons for free spices.

I went with my daughter. Her roomie needed juniper berries for his Thanksgiving turkey and this was the only place we could find them. I love to cook aand I think I am in for a whole new experience. Honey, better take my credit card away!

Any spice rub or seasoning one could ever need for fancy or bachelor style cooking, can be found here an then pick up a large bottle or two of the garlic olive oil@ the tasteful olive down the street / next door.

Often get off work at 5:30 and ...by the time I drive over to Penzeys they have closed. (6pm) . I love their products, but realized today theyve been scamming me when I check out. They offered me a choice between two sets of herbs. I thought they were free samples! After I left, I looked at my receipt, and realized I had been charged for them. They never told me that! I didnt ask for, or want, these additional products!!! This has happened before, but I didnt realize I was being charged for them until today. Very disappointed with this shady practice.

Its always fun to come here. You can smell all the spices. They sell them in varying quantities so you can get as much as you need. Their smoked Spanish paprika is fantastic.
