The to go food is tasty and vegetables are fresh however a lot of things have passed their best before dates.
Great selection and great prices. The best Indian Market in KC.
Great and reasonably priced shop with variety of selections.Great indian groceries store
You can find all verities of masala and groceries. But hard to find vegetables
Plenty of options for Indian grocery. Location is clean.
I love TJ Maxx. Its one of my favorite places to shop. I love their jewelry, its very much discounted. I always compare prices with online prices. Its a real bargain hunters Paradise. I buy 90% of my clothes there. I order online and if I dont like it I can return it directly to the store. You get a discount if you pay with their credit card. I have no complaints whatsoever about TJ Maxx and Ive shopped there for about 20 years
Will get most of the Indian groceries here.
Good place to get all Indian groceries, only thing is you have to keep an eye on expiration date before you put the item on cart.
Its a good place, staff is not friendly at all thats why I go not as much.
Great price and value for Indian goods...(sometimes items may be out of expiry please check before purchasing)
Im happy to find Ambica Foods. I miss my regular store back in Boston.
Strategically located, some of the stuff are sold beyond expiry date, I dont mind if such things are dry goods with no moisture in them eg. uncooked lentils and pulses but for moisture containing stuff it is not recommended. A word of caution... The shopkeeper is little lost sometimes and it happened to many that there were errors in billing,,, so u need to check ur items and tally with the bills before leaving the shop. Good things are it is comparatively a cheaper shop than other indian stores.
Excellent variety of Indian groceries and prepared fast food.highly recommend it.
Fantastic selection and great prices!
The best Indian grocery shopping in Kansas and Missouri. Great selections and you get fresh sarson ka saag leaves here! Amazing!
They have charged me for extra items that I didn’t buy. This has happened on more than one occasion. If your shopping order is large be very aware.
Almost like shopping back in india,,wish there were north of the river but dont mind the drive either
They have a great selection. They have fresh food you can order. Its clean and bright. Priced well too!. I feel ignored by the man in charge. Hopefully he was just having an off day because I intend to do a lot of business there for my client.
I found many items with past expiry date, fresh produce was very dissappointng, I am rating 3 for the range of products available
Not all the employees were wearing face cover, only the cashier. Also, there was no sanitizer for customer use and i doubt if the basket and grocery carts are sanitized frequently. I could not see the price listed for several items so could not make desicion to buy or not. I have been to this place few times and never found employees courteous as other grocery store.
Worst chat, worst panipuri dont ever dare to try
This is the worst place to go buy some stuff from. Half of the store is filled with expired products. Especially dry masalas, ice cream and drinks. I literally got a drink which was expired 1 and half year ago. And when i went to return it back the guy gave me wierd look. And instead of trashing it away he kept it on a table which looked unsual to me. So next day i went to the store again and the same bottle was again on the shelf. And then i went to look other products and i was surprised to see that half of the packed products in there was expired. So please avoid going to this place. There are many other indian grocery stores to visit. And if you go there dont forget to check the expiry date.
I have been visiting this store for the past 5 years and have repeatedly seen so many expired things on the shelf. Customers repeatedly complain, but the manager merely turns a deaf ear. Was shocked to see stuff expired in 2015 still sitting on the shelves in 2020. Wonder how this store manages to not get cited by the health department.
Nice store. Great service.
Great place for spices at great low prices.
People are very nice. Product line is pretty complete. Prices are reasonable.
Museum of really ancient products as old as the owner. If you are looking for products from the past, this is the place to check out. They have everything from over 5 years old, come here to refresh your old memories. I got really emotional finding my favorite products that had expired in 2015 or earlier, and they were still available to purchase. Fresh produce with fungus growing on it are on special, so you get more for half the price. Expired products are taken care of so well here, that you will find them all in the freezers, so they dont decay further.
This place used to have amazing MOJO. However it seems to have lost a bit of it. How does that apply to an Asian/Indian grocery store you might say, well it just does and you can experience it yourself or just take my word for it. They have quite a good selection of items so it is likely that you will get what you want at reasonable prices.
Great variety and nice little hot foods section inside! We will shop here more often. I wouldve given 5 stars but they only had one cashier so we had to wait behind someone shopping for a weeks worth of food. Very friendly staff this day.
Check the expiry date of all products, the owner is notorious in selling expired products. To give an example, I brought to his notice that the Rava Dosa powder is 6 months post its expiry; he looked at it and quietly kept it back on the shelf, in the hope that someone else will buy it. I went to the store a week after that and he was still selling the expired stock. Similarly, go and check out the frozen section -- there are a lot of Indian breads that are way passed their expiry date....BUYER BE AWARE
I get most things I needed
The store is very clean and has a great variety of products. The mini-restaurant is definitely a plus :)
They sell expired items too. Expired in 2017 and selling in Dec 2019 be aware. Also at the billing counter I have lost my items many times. Dont know how. But need to be careful while billing. I would like to go to KC instead here. Very bad
Selling expired items, unprofessional staff. I was trying to get something out of the fridge and the staff starts brooming./mopping floor around my legs. Expensive prices as compared to other indian stores. Limited variety. Strict NO for my future visits.
Very homey environment. Great food and groceries. Superb staff.
Great courteous people. Every item which an Indian family requires is available. Must visit once for Indian grocery.
Today I got a phone and a line. The staff were very kind. I recommend going there
Its really really over priced store. Checkout price of 50 pcs pani puri
Best place in KC to buy ingredients for your Indian culinary adventures!
Excellent selection! Navinbhai always has the newest items and freshest vegetables. But, Hurry....or you will not find any good veggies. Also, Super tasty restaurant items!
Sells fast food and quick snacks. Also good inventory.
Great selection of Indian food. They need a little more work with being clean though. Overall, good place to shop!
Check the expiry date of each every product before purchase..... u will find lot of expired products.Apart from that chat and other snacks are very good.
Absolutely love this place. My go-to for Indian groceries!
Not sure why this place gets any less than a 4. Huge selection of spices and indian centric foods. We restocked all our spices for less than $50, adding some frozen samosas, chutneys, etc. The also have fresh curry leaves, game changer in curry manking.
Ethnic store of Indian foods & assundaries. Things you cant find elsewhere. Staff is very helpful even to my pasty Caucasian self. & bonus they have excellent food hot, cold, & in between. Its my favorite place to buy nuts (almonds, cashews, peanuts) because their bulk bags are affordable for me.
Nice
I wish there was an option for a 1/2 star. The only good thing about the place is chats. After some recent research and developments the quality of chats is a concern. My friend bought a dozen biscuit packets. All expired in 2014.About a year ago I confronted the owner that Thums Up had expired more than a year ago. But captain fantastic owner decided to argue instead of acknowledging the quality of product being sold. This is the response I received when I confronted about the cool drink, when the drink crosses the border, the expiration date is automatically extended to 2 more years.I would not recommend buying anything here.
Excellent place to shop. Veggie burger best in town!
Average Indian store. A better organisation of products will be a welcome addition. Staffs with better knowledge of store products is a necessity.
Good place for India origin groceries, supplies and goods. Produce looked fresh and decent quality. Ready made food/cafe area available inside the store.
Huge selection of ethnic Indian groceries and spices along with commonly used utensils. Fair prices compared to most locations. Good atmosphere. Also has an in-house Cafe for snacks, drinks and such.
Not impressed! Wide selection, but many expired products. Worst aspect of my visit was noticeably unfriendly employees. Better prices and customer service at other Asian markets in the metro.
Place is spacious, but the quality of products are not good as expected. They sell expired products, in return very rude behavior. When I gave a product back as it expired, the owner of the store kept that product in selling area which was not expected. Please avoid this place to save your health.
Pretty cool place for a quick snack. I had to wait 15 mins for the lady at the food stall to finish chatting with her friend for her to put a samosa on a plate. Then, after paying for a chai tea and noticing the self-serve container was empty, we asked if we could get more and she replied, no.Good food, but the service isnt good at all. (The other register people and owner seem nice)
The service is slow, other then that they have lots of options for Indian/Pakistani/South Asian foods you want, spices fresh produce and frozen ones too. They also have a snack bar area where you can order hot food or cold. Depending on the dish you order.
Its the best place to buy south asian spices etc. Probably the only pmace that stocks well and i can always find what Im looking for.
Great place to shop for seasonings, foods henna, pots and pans, Buddha, . They cold foods also, the veggie burger is wonderful.
Amazing Indian store. Great Indian products, decor & food
This is one of the bigger Indian store in the Overland Park area. Youll find most spices, snacks etc here. The owner seems helpful and attentive. Theyre is a Chaat (snack) section in the front. It is pretty good and reasonably priced.
Beware of the owner, he will try to double charge you!! And it has happened to us multiple times and when we shared this with other friends, they agreed that it has happened to them too..
You can get indian foods and vegetables but the space is very congested. The vegetables do not appear to be very fresh and green. If you stay in kansas city (missouri part) its a 20 min drive and is the nearest indian store but i will suggest pan asia if you are looking for indian grocery. The chat corner attached to it is moderately cheap.you can hv paw bhaji idli and other stuffs in a comparatively cheap price. It was tasty too. Bt I do not know I had some indigestion problem after I had one egg puff ! That can be entirely my problem though
We have been Ambicas customers for over 13 years now. I have read the comments posted by other shoppers and three main things stand out. 1) They are rude. 2) Expired products on shelves. 3) Billing inconsistencies. My comments:1) Them being rude: They are not rude (maybe with the exception of that one Hispanic lady at the chats section). They just dont go out of their way to talk to you. If you talk to them, they will definitely respond in kind and help you out. This treatment of customers is consistent with other Indian grocery stores in the area as well. Thats just how they are.2) Expired products on shelves: Definitely true. It has gotten better, over time, however. I have seen more than once the owner haul away cart-full of expired items. Still, they need to do a better job at it. Once I bought mango pickles, which had expired a year ago. When I brought it to the owners attention, he said (in Hindi) what is there to expire in a pickle? It is salt, mangoes and chili powder! What a profound thought! I told him there is oil in the pickle and would be stale by now and his response was, Go ahead and buy something else! Similar experience on other packaged food items as well (such a parathas, samosas, sweets, etc)3) Billing discrepancies: Definitely true. It has happened to me before at the very beginning (before the bar codes on Indian grocery items) and then they got their act straight for several years and then it happened again twice last month. The owner scanned an item twice. My mistake that I waited (on purpose) until he finalized the sale just to point this out, but he would not refund me back. He insisted that I buy something else for the same price!!. Please check your receipts and watch them closely while they scan your items.Well, that said, I still give them three-stars, mainly for the selection they have, particularly their selection of sweets around major Desi festivals.Maybe, time to switch to KC India Mart.
AFFORDABLE SPICES!!! YAY!! There are shelves bursting with teas, spices, rice, frozen ready to eat foods such as nan, meals to go, and fancy ice creams. They have fresh vegetables that cant be found at the local Walmart.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR ALL INDIAN FOOD NEEDS/CRAVINGS!!!Freshly baked Indian snacks and SAMOSAS!!! I LOVE SAMOSAS!!! And this place, let me tell you, has some GOOD, WELL STUFFED Samosas.Ice cream is also served :DNot the hottest customer service in town but hey, thats their culture.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR ALL INDIAN FOOD NEEDS/CRAVINGS!!!
This is a great store. All groceries and food items are available here. They even have a small chat counter.
Indian grocery shopping place. Be aware the store also sells old expired products. Felt cheated.
Not a good experience overall, wouldn’t recommend.
Great place for shopping Indian food. The food is very tasty, and the staff is helpful. Though sometimes they can be grumpy.
Fresh clean and friendly store
As usual thing are not organized in store really hard to find things if you dont know any better u can buy worst food, the customer service is not great as usual. The cashier was talking on phone while were checking out. 😡😒
Old expired food on almost every shelf. On the plus side, the owner has great amount of love and respect for expired items. He told me the expired cookies are only atta(dough), sugar and water. I shouldn’t be worried, not to mention the Candy that have been expired since last year. Some kid could really get sick by eating those candy but he could care less, as long as customers that don’t look at the expiration date keep buying, he a happpy man!
Very nice store and good products are available.
Its a nice store for fresh veggies and fruits however the package stuff is mostly expires date so be cautious before buying
Employees should attend the customer at the counter instead of aligning stuffs up the rack. There is no one at the counter for 5mins. Chat and snacks are okay, could be better.
This store has become a regular visit for us after the other Asian grocery stores in the Kansas City area have lacked in product selection and pricing compared to Ambica Foods over the years. They have great selection of items and well organized layout to easily walk around and browse. Your not going to get the coastal/large city pricing of course but for its location here in the midwest it has competitive pricing. The store owner has always been accommodating to us, since we travel an hour and half to visit here, if that means setting something aside for us or keeping the store open little later.Business hours arent consistent to what is displayed, the sign says 11-8 Monday through Saturday and 11-6 Sunday, but if you ask around everyone will tell you a different closing time after 8.Regarding previous reviews about expired products. Its common for stores like these to have issues like this, especially items that dont have high turn over. So if its a select item make sure you check the expiration date. Most all items are quick turnaround items and you shouldnt have any expiration date issues.
Rice bags are costly. But all Indian spices, veggies, instant Indian food and Pooja stuffs are available here. There is also chat corner here which is decent.
Chaat menu is good.Have found some expired products on the shelf. Check the date. Otherwise good.
Many products were expired and i had a bad experience in ambica. The staff not even respond for finding the product. Please check the price in bill before you leave from there. But they have good chat store.
Good chat store. Needs some improvement in grocery section. They hold expired items.
You can find all sorts of fun and hard to find
Wonderful people with an amazing selection of Indian and Asian products and an unbelievable food counter. Lunch is fast and the food never disappoints
Check the expiry date on the package before buying anything. Live food counter is okay. I tried samosa chat n it was good. But again think before buying any item and check for the expiry date.
Decent place for the chats in their authentic taste.. and the groceries as well ! Just the service is not that good.
Too good place to buy anything for the all that checked out dad some time is expired here no food اداء رقم
Ambicas is a very Indian grocery and import store. Fresh and frozen goods plus spices, rice and beans, etc. Friendly. Highly recommended.
This store should be reported! We bought basmati rice from this store few days back and they over charged me!That rice usually cost $20 but they charged us $30 which is fine, but the quality of rice is so bad that nobody wants to eat it!So sad that in such a tough time instead of coming together to help and uplift one another you think this price gouging will make you richer???shame on you!!
Still maintained their place even in tough competition.
A great place to find all indian groceries.
The fresh chat items are really good.
Great price on specialized produce and rice. Friendly service.
Lots of expired food. Better go to other Indian stores. This Roti pack expired 4 years back and they are still selling it.
Nice Indian store with bakery . Along with Indian grocery store, We can enjoy indian snacks here.
Good for chaat, sometimes products can be expired, so check before buying.
Good discounts but the foods are all expired and i go back cause I’m not getting my family sick. This places needs closed down.
We Asian are born in negative pund of the Earth. Guys try to find some positive and good things to review. thanks
Many packed frozen products are expired in this store. Please see expiry date before buying anything. They give offers/discounts on expired products which doesnt make any sense. Even if we notify that the products are expired, they still keep those products under sales section. Do not buy without verifying and also do not buy products under sales section at all. I wish I can give this negative rating but I cant .. Store owners are also very rude when we mention about expired products
Good store to find all the Indian good
