I was given a beautiful Cosanti bell as a gift when I moved from Prescott AZ to TN in Aug of 1993. It is one of my most prized possessions. I always tell the story of where it came from and the wonderful person who gave it to me. My only child asked if she can have it as a family heirloom one day. I had tears in my eyes when I said, “Of course- it’s already yours”. I couldn’t possibly love either of them more!
Great place to visit. The staff is super helpful and the artwork is amazing! Make sure you go on a tour day to get the full experience.
Had a great time looking at all the fabulous garden bells available at Cosanti. My friend and I each selected a bell that we just had to take home. Checkout was easy and they also gift boxed one bell that is going to a wedding reception very soon. Perfect gift for the newlyweds that will last a lifetime.
From the minute you enter the hand-made swooping, meandering facility, you feel youre in a special place.. tours are available, or toucan wander on your own. Watch the forging of the original and decorative bells... Tap and listen to dozens and dozens of hand made bells, find one to take home. An unusual, casual, and experience, well worth visiting.
One of favorite places to stop. Slowly but surely building up my bell collection, each one bigger than the last.
Amazing, organic shaped bronze & clay bells from the artistry of Paolo Soleri
Everyone should check this place out. Its really neat. The bells are beautiful and when a breeze blows through the sound is amazing.
Background:Cosanti is a designated Arizona historic site, designed by world-renowned architectural innovator Paolo Soleri, featuring terraced landscaping with experimental earth-formed concrete structures. Hear the tones of bronze and ceramic wind-bells strikingly suspended amidst courtyards and visitor paths. There were workshops in progress as we strolled among the forest of peaceful bells. The smooth architecture all around us felt very soothing and calming. Inside the store, there are more bronze and ceramic bells also available for purchase. I thought prices were very fair, starting at $30 for a small bronze hanging bell. I dont need to add a bell or a chime to my current collection but l will certainly consider buying from Cosanti in the future and l highly recommend this visit to learn more about the Soleri architectural concept and numerous creations including massive bridges that he built around the world.
So neat! Like Tatooine, in Star Wars. The organic curvy architecture is where its at, I wish more architects followed suit. The philsophy of the place is really unique, as well. Both Cosanti and Arcosanti are worth a visit. Buy yourself an expensive bronze bell, you deserve it! The only reason I didnt buy one this time, is that I already have one, but there was this big, beautiful two tonal bell calling my name. I resisted, as it was $345. Even if you dont buy one, have fun ringing them in the shop. 🤣
Beautiful museum I love all the art and everyone was so wonderful and helpful
A friend brought me here after visiting Taliesi West. What a wonderful place to see! I bought a small wind chime for $32. The grounds and architectural features were so great to see after having a tour at Taliesi and leaning about Frank Lloyd Wright and his interns including Pablo Soleri who (I think) is one of the few still living interns. So many things to look at that I forgot to take photos of all the beautiful bells. Some were so gigantic and made wonderful sounds. I felt like a little kid ringing various bells just to hear the difference.
This is one of AZs hidden gems & lands it a spot on my own personal Must-Sees-In-AZ. It has been one of my favorites ever since my father first took me to visit this incomparable monument to the vision, design & philosophy of artist Paolo Soleri. I dont really know how to accurately describe this place, mere words just wont do. I highly recommended sneaking over to Paradise Valley next time youre in the area of 64th St & Doubletree. Great for quick visits or for getting lost in the wonder & awe this place create within you. Check them out. A++++
This was Paolo Soleri house and studio. I know he has another compound thats still in use as a venue for different things. But this place, is beautiful. Im from Phoenix and I read about him but at the age of 47 finally made it out there. Its just amazing all the time effort and creativity this man had and used to build this place. You got people in from out of town, bring them here.maybe not in the summer but who visits Arizona in the summer. We, a friend of mine who is a transplant from San Diego went on a lazy Sunday and the place is amazing! Part of our Arizona history and definitely a must for us all. I will return again and again. A lil gem in the place we call home.
Very unique and one of a kind hand made art
For some odd reason my husband bought three of the wind chimes and insisted that they had soothing magical tones lol. They were huge and heavy made of thick metal and very ugly dull colors and unpleasant drab shapes. I was polite and let him hang them up but it sounded like a bunch of pots and pans hanging from the trees. A horrible thing to do to the wildlife and human ears alike. If something is trendy enough, I guess people will literally buy anything lol.
Amazing place. Beautiful!
This is a magical place.
Its an original. A student of frank Lloyd Wright designed and built it.
Fascinating complex of buildings. Beautiful bells. Good insight into the workshops the artisans there use.
Really cool experience. Loved everything. I highly recommend checking them out.
Not as many bronze bells as in the past but still a decent selection. Prices are getting a bit expensive but based on Saturday shopper turnout that doesnt seem to be an issue.
Very rude il never go back their again.
This place is incredible! Unfortunately we got there an hour after they did their daily pouring. I was told they do not have a set schedule for the pouring, but I would recommend calling when they open and I imagine they can give you an idea at that time for the day so you can watch the artisans work. While it was incredibly hot the day we went, it really wasnt so bad as the structures they have built into the landscape seem to do a good job with the temperatures. There isnt much to see if the pourings are not happening, so you do not need much time here; I would guess that we spent no more than 30 minutes here, but I do recommend checking it out. We bought a large chime and were pleased that not only did they ship it home for us, but the shipping was much cheaper than we anticipated. And the woman helping us was very nice and helpful.
Want a hidden gem. Tucked away in a neighborhood, this is definitely worth the visit...
Nice shop, ok attraction.
Beautiful place to visit and picking up our order was a breeze!
Very cool place. Many unique bells for sale.
I love this place! I buy a lot of smaller bells for my clients for a housewarming gifts.
The bronze pour at no cost, is well worth your time. Come early and watch the mold prep.
This is the best place in arizona!!!! We love coming here for the wind chimes. I bring every guest here. The tours are so cool! You can watch them pour the molds and tour the grounds. Its just incredible!!!
Fabulous ❤️ want them All !!!!
This is a go to spot for us to being visitors, but also a place I like to enjoy on my own. Paolo loved here before he passed away and his presence is still very much felt. Come during weekday mornings to see the artisans pour the bells - something so special and uniquely Arizona. Or just browse the bells for sale, including some made by the master himself. His story is so rich and his work so beautiful - I hope this place helps his legacy to live on for generations to come.
Very interesting place! We enjoyed checking everything out. It was windy the day we were there and the chimes made beautiful sounds! We would like to go back on a day when the guys are working on projects.
I had so much fun at this place went this morning the most awesome stuff to look at all the Bells Jewelry pottery and today was a big sale they have until Sunday and I suggest anybody and everybody to go to the cell if they like any type of wind chimes Bells ceramic its awesome its a great place to go and I suggest anybody who wants anything for Christmas and holidays are love Windchimes I suggest you to go its very nicely kept clean great and family oriented a great people customer service always ready to serve you so I give it five stars and thumbs up all the way
Incredible architecture, specific to the desert in which it was built. A wonderful chance to get to understand what Paolo Soleri was working on and towards. I would have liked to see more of the buildings and learn how each one was designed to work as part of the whole and to the fullest extent of its function, but we were limited to only the gift shop and the display apse. This is a worthy visit within the Phoenix limits, but it is limited.
Nice walk, product, and service.
Fantastic experience. We did the 1-hour tour. They walk you through the whole complex and explain all the buildings, the architecture behind them, and the story of Paulo Soleri, who was the mastermind behind it all.We even saw them making the wind bells, where they took out 2,200° molten bronze and put it into the casts. You can just take the tour and/or purchase a wind bell.Highly recommended for families, kids and people of all ages.
Fascinating art of making bells.... Tour explains the processes of design and fabrication. Located in the heart of Paradise Valley, AZ. You wont be able to leave without dropping cash on souvenirs and gifts.
Neat architecture first of all! The bells they make and sell are neat, youre allowed to ring the bells as you please, and they do sell their art. Small place and mostly outside but definitely a cool place to check out. :)
What a neat adventure. Took the tour to learn how they cast a brass bell. Quite the talent!! Was able to select the perfect one to purchase and enjoy in my yard at home!!
Too expensive but interesting. The guide we had was great, but the group was far too large. About 35 people. We couldnt all fit in the rooms. Should be about 12 people per guide. The bronze pouring was fascinating. Price was $15 per person. Half that would have been about right. Hard to believe people lived in these concrete holes in the ground. Reminds me of military bunkers.
Original place well worth the stop, for a gift, yourself or sheer ball of creativity.... nice tuck away gem of a place. Chris.
Fascinating place. Really enjoyed the tour and all the stores about how the facility was established and grew. We were lucky enough to get a tour from one of the directors, who had been part of the organization for decades.
Really neat location, artists at work, metal art, ceramics and a gift shop filled with bells, jewelry and a few miscellaneous pieces. Its a sweet quirky side trip if you are in the area. Friendly destination.
This am amazing studio / art studio. They sell amazing bronze bells and hand made tiles. Daily tours at 11am.
What an experience! We took the tour which was great! So educational! We bought bells and love them!
Beutiful...work in progress since 1955....exactly how I remember as a teenager...be sure to go on a weekday for a tour...so much more than meets the eye with a tour guide..only $10 per person
Went here on a Sunday so it was pretty sleepy......but definitely interesting shapes and forms. A preview to Arcosanti
Very interesting, but much smaller than anticipated. They have a pour showing thats interesting to see, buts a silent show and only about 10 mins long. The bells are beautiful but very pricey. Great to see at least once though.
Very interesting to learn about Cosantis architecture and his resourcefulness. The tour included watching how the sand forms are made, and melted metals being poured to create Cosantis famous Bells. You can purchase those, as well as olive oil made from the olives grown on the property. Pretty cool!
Paolo Soleri was way ahead of his time. A visit here is enchanting.
Disappointment in the Desert. Has some serious potential, but we were “greeted” by an indifferent staff. At least three areas were inaccessible because of construction work. Learning experience was an unrealized opportunity because of lack of labeling. The setting is great, and the architecure is unique and interesting. That said, this is a sales situation with a potentially very interesting packdrop. Admission to this “store” is free: you get what you pay for.
Great bells and other art. Some areas of the campus were closed off so I could not see everything. I need to go back again
Great place lovely staff ..the bells are pricey but good given the craftsmanship that went into their making ..make sure to be there before 11 for the pour on the weekdays..they may have another pour before one but that is it...
Wonderful experience visiting the foundry. The bells are beautiful. I wanted all of them. Each bell has a different tone. Amazing!
Great things, fascinating architecture, cool history. Doesnt require a huge investment of time. No air conditioning so be prepared in Arizona summer!
Watched a friend poor bronze bells today. Very interesting process. Had a great time! Thanks Buzz
Unique pieces of art. They all sounded beautiful. Worth a visit!
This is an incredible experience! Its so serene and peaceful! I remember when I would go visit as a little girl and feeling like I was in an enchanted place.
Near plane. Got there in time for the 11:00 tour. It was great! Got to see a bronze pour in action. Larry was a great tour guide.
I guess I went on the wrong day because there was no pour viewing or bell demo. Cool stuff...i might go back and but something. Way smaller than I expected. My visitor was unimpressed and we went to look at open houses in the area.
I love the “feel” of this place, it’s like you’ve entered an alternative reality! And.... you can take home a beautiful souvenir as a perpetual reminder!
Cool off the art place in the middle of a neighborhood. Dont even realize its there. Very cool bronze & ceramic art pieces.
Amazing experience. Go on a morning tour. Its fascinating.
Having toured Arcosanti (an hour up I-17) a week prior, we wanted to see where the bells are made and it was very interesting. Easy to find in Paradise Valley AZ, and plenty of free parking, but dont park under a tree unless youre willing to wash off the goo that drips onto your car from the boughs (in warm weather, at least, and it was 116 that day).
Cosanti is a fascinating look into the vision, creativity and dedication of famed architect, Paolo Solari. Buy a beautiful wind chime, wander the buildings.
The wind chime doesnt ring, even on very windy days? Looks cool, doesnt chime. Its too heavy. These bells are very over rated. Nice piece of artwork that doesnt do what its supposed to do.
Artisans working on the various bells, tiles, etc. Interesting structure housing the work shops and display areas.
Cosanti is an architectural gem, the tour is highly recommended. You can buy Soleri bells which are beautiful and help support the Cosanti/Arcosanti foundation.
Need to go back. Need to do some basic research on Soleri, as there is so much to see, and I knew NOTHING about this person. Quite by accident, a fulltime craftsman gave us an excellent talk and demonstration of the casting process. He was enthusiastic, well spoken, and very pleasant.
If youre out for a day trip this is an interesting stop. If you are looking for unique bell for your Decor then this is a must visit.
This was my second trip to Cosanti Originals. I never cease to be amazed at the variety of designs, finishes and the sounds are glorious! When I finish hanging todays purchase, I will add a photo.
The colors and textures of the Arizona desert are beautifully reflected in the pattern of the buildings and the cast bronze and ceramic bells. The tour with the current director was a truly lovely and educational experience, not to be missed.
What a great place and fun place to visit. Cosanti bells are just awesome.
It was cool to see...what little we could. Sadly most of it was closed off for renovations when we stopped here. But we did end up buying some bells to take home with us.
Great holiday gifts!
I take everyone I know here that hasn’t been. It’s free and sometimes you can catch them making Bells. I highly recommend.
Fabulous art in bells. Not one was made the same.We will go back....free admission..
What you need to know:--Tours are 11AM (M-F) and cost $15, they last an hour and change. You REALLY want to do this, try to make it work. You get to see them actually working and get to see the rest of the buildings.--If you cannot make a tour, this is basically a nice shop where you can buy the stuff they make on-site or their sister location (Arcosanti, between here and Sedona), and you can see some of the buildings. They only sell their stuff, it is not a tourist trap gift shop.--DONT SPEED - this is in a residential neighborhood and it seems the cops like to go fishing here.--If you dont have the context (I didnt until I visited), this is 75% an active workshop where they actually make the products (bronze, ceramics, etc.), 25% architectural attraction (they work among the structures). This is a real business that happens to be in a very cool setting.
Very interesting architecture and art work.
I could spend a million dollars in this place. Nice people and beautiful bells.
Cool environment. Alot of the scenery was blocked off but still a cool place to see. The story behind it is awsome
Amazing piece of Soleris work. Friendly staff!
Beautiful artisan bells.
