We went there for our companys annual breakfast. This was the first time it was held at the Black Bear Diner. The food was very tasty. The quantity was plentiful, and the service was very good, even considering our party was 10 large. I would definitely return to dine again!
Best diner in town. Best chain diner in existence. Fresh squeezed OJ and their own sausage. Even lunch and dinner items are great. Ive never been disappointed here. Staff at this location is extremely friendly and attentive. Best restaurant in Paradise.
They were busy when we arrived so it took a little time to get service but it wasnt a problem I understood they were busy. And, we werent ready to order right away. When we did order my companion had the hamburger bacon salad and he said it was wonderful and it looked wonderful. I had on the light menu the bacon tomato sandwich on sourdough with french fries and it was great. The lite menu to me looks like a regular menu I still had to take half of it home. Ive would like to see what the regular BLT looks like. Our service was great she had a sweet smile she was a very nice lady. And considering how busy they were I felt that our service was very very good. The food was wonderful.
A wonderful place to dine out. Huge portions st reasonable prices. You gotta try one of their homemade bear claws. So yummy.
We eat at the Black Bear Diner frequently! Always have a fantastic meal! Staff is awesome and they bend over backwards to please! My husband and I will go back many many times! Love their taco salad 😊
If you go here for breakfast and you want yours eggs over easy than I strongly suggest ordering them over medium. The rest of the food is good and freshly made to order. The fries are not microwaved like Cozy Diner. They could trim off a bit of the fat on their NY steak. Overall service is better than other chain diners in Paradise.
This was my first visit to the Black Bear. I treated my daughter and grand daughters to a Sunday dinner out.The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly.The food portions were large and flavorful.The decor was In the woods and had a nice vibe.There was even a small gift shop area were a person can purchase Bear PJs and morning coffee Bear Mugs.

New looking interior and quick friendly help even on memorial day. Some veggie options and nice amounts make this great for me. Parking seemed sparing although I got a place but guessing theres enough parking lots on the road to be able to find something not too far from the front. Didnt know how big of a chain they were but good none the less.
Last year at this time we went and took a trip to paradise and ate lunch here at the black bear diner. I cant believe it burnt down so sad. I am so hoping they rebuild because it really was a nice little restaurant and the food was good.

From the beginning, we were seated right away, drinks ordered, food ordered, the drinks were brought quickly, but it took forever for my party of three food to come, we saw a lady come in behind order steak which was one of the items we ordered get her food while we still waited. When our food did arrive my sister had a hard time cuttings her fatty steak, then my order of pot roast, the meat was rubbery, gravy, mashed potatoes and veggies were delicious. After waiting for so long we decided to not order replacement food, if it werent for the excellent service of our waitress and supervisor/manager being very helpful and not making us feel bad for not just wanting a refund. Upon leaving we were given dessert on the house and we returned the favor by giving our waitress a $10 tip for all her help

Great food with bear sized portions! They serve breakfast all day and even the smaller plates will fill you up. Service here is always friendly and prompt. Most food is made on site and it shows. Biscuits and gravy are a real winner.

The ribs are terrific! And, their baked potatoes are out of this world! Where do they get their potatoes? Now the desert needs help. They look pretty and enticing but they arevery lacking in quality and taste.

Its cute & a pretty drive from Chico. Large portions. Im not a giant fan of this style of food, I prefer to eat healthier, but everything tasted good.

We came less than an hour before they closed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The waitress was always quick to bring drink refills as well. The food was spot on, super delicious. The portions were huge and the prices were very reasonable, especially considering my dinner was enough for 2 meals. The quality of the food exceede expections. It really shows that they make everything right there and that they use high quality ingredients.The decor is bear themed and the place has an enjoyable atmosphere. Its a very family friendly restaurant and my 3 year old loved seeing all the bears everywhere. We would recommend the Black Bear Diner and would be more than happy to return.
Nice dinner in this northern California chain. Went here for a late breakfast. Food and service were above average for this chain. I highly recommend this Black Bear.
Will miss the people as well as the place. Wife and I went there quit a bit and now its gone since Nov 8, 2018. We live close to it and will miss it. The grizz and the papa bear burger were awesome. My wife was collecting the different coffee cups they sold.
Had the best Potroast EVER!! So much of it on the full order was able to take some home for my husband too. Was enough for 2 more dinners! It was so tender, no fat at all and the best flavor!! Love this!!

I didnt visit. I used to visit for their specials they used to display on an easel outside the entrance. When I asked the owner why they dont post the specials anymore I got a smoke and mirrors response that they do have specials that just they didnt have one that particular day. I told him I been by the last every day for the last 2 weeks and he then changed his story to all we were not having specials during the holidays. Well the holidays are long over and theres still no specials posted so I dont eat there unless Im feeling rich and thats maybe once every 3 months.

Black Bear Diners seem to differ somewhat by actual restaurant. This location seems to be consistently hit or miss. On last visit I ordered the one lone egg that came with the meal to be cooked over-easy instead of scrabbled as requested. Not a big deal but considering that the food also arrived noticeably later than usual youd think that they would have had enough time to get it right. I have to rate that as a miss. Quality and proportions are generally good. Theyll have to demonstrate a consistent improvement in service before I give them another star.
I like to go here for breakfast because mostly. Today I went with a friend who had a hankering for some hot wings. Unfortunately black bear does not have hot wings, so we went with the bobs big burger. It was good and like always the portions were huge. On the way out the till counter has a rack of pies that look so delicious I almost bought one even though i couldent possibly eat another bite. The atmosphere and service were top notch. Thanks black bear for yet another fine experience.
Delicious breakfast here. The pancakes are gigantic and have a great flavor. Eggs are nicely done and hashbrowns are yummie. Not a long wait to be seated. I like to sit by the window and all you have to do is ask. I like the really generous salads for lunch. All the meals I have eaten here are very generous. The atmosphere is warm and the staff are so sweet.
Great place to go with the family! We had just been there a couple months before. So sad to see the pictures from the fire. It was were we would take my sister who lived in a care home near by that also burned. So sad, hope they rebuild.

Worst service ever at Black Bear tonight.Hardly saw our server. And it wasnt even busy. Waited for refills, sides and a whole meal. And had to ask different servers. The hostess was the most help. And it was here first day. I asked who acting Manager and was told it was our server. Sad. She brought the bill and took a couple things off bill before I complained. She know how bad her service was. I dont think she is Managment material. I got to admit all my other visits there, which has been alot were good and positive. Food was great

Had such a nice lunch with my daughter in law,she calls the meal in, its ready when we get there, they bring it to us and it works out perfect, were sitting down eating and enjoying the whole lunch time eating and talking,not worried if our lunch will get to us in time, the food was fantastic. ..and thank you for the great service...we will be doing this again...
Always a warm and cozy place to eat! Waitresses are always nice and the food portions are great for the price so bring an empty belly! I love their potroast dinner and for lunch I get their club sammich or even chicken and waffles! Their biscuits and gravy are fantastic as well!
Slow service more times than not. Employees yak a lot, while youre food gets cold. But the food is usually very good.
Id like to say I liked it, but I never got that far. Seated, waited 20 minutes for water and our order to be taken, then another 25 minutes for a refill of drinks and our salads to show up. Unfortunately, neither ever did. When all the servers and the manager are hovering at the pass while food is sitting, it does not install a lot of confidence in quality.

Most of it over cooked. Service was just ok. Manager did ask us how everything was.. didntbwamt to be bothered or delayed from getting back on the road home. Bathrooms were gross. Tables sticky.We love Black Bear and will always try new locations, but will never return to this one.
The dine-in experience must be good because the place is always packed. But my take-out experiences were not so good. They gave me garlic bread that was literally a piece of white sandwich bread, with garlic grease on it. And the TripTip was overly marinated/tenderized and turned to mush in my mouth. It was a very dark color with purple in the middle instead of pink - very unappetizing - most of it went in the trash. I might try the dine-in at some point and order something else, but no more take-out.
Reeeeeally good sausages here. I had the sausage patties and tried the chicken apple sausage, both were amazing
The food is consistent and the service in the morning is always great. Service in the evening sometimes is very very slow. Especially after an event at the ppac. Maybe you can coordinate with the ppac and have more staff on duty on those nights.
We walked into the Black Bear Diner and was immediately greeted when we first walked through the door. Both the greeter and the waitress were friendly and efficient in their positions. The food was delicious and the portions were large. My only complaint is that I ordered a B. L. A. S. T. (bacon, lettuce, avacado sandwich), but there was no avacado on it.
The employees are really nice. the food is good but COLD no one like cold food. Its a little to pricey for what is served. I got a blackberries pie and it wasnt as good. I wont be eating here again
Consistently good breakfast food (huge portions), and friendly waitstaff. Knocked off a star because an ongoing deficiency is that theyre very slow to keep the coffee cups full. Seriously, we go frequently and always wind up with empty cups at some point during the visit.

This is our goto restaruant up here in Paradise. You get tons of food for you money, and most of it taste great. Sadly I only gave them a 4 star out of the 5 because they recently changed their vendor for meat. The new meat isnt as tasty and bit more fatty then the other vendor. But I still love eating there!

Hubby and I go there as a special treat (seniors on tight budget) and our favorite, which we split because its so big...the classic benedict....yummy. No matter what you order, even the smaller portions, there is enough for two or takehome!! And dont forget to get your card stamped....they will end up getting you a free meal.....
Usually most Black Bear Diners are really good but this one is not a favorite. Slow service and then the food was cold or undercooked.

Love the bear decore here it really makes coming here fun. I love the all day breakfast too it really makes my waking up less frustrating. I love their egg and pancake dish. The wait staff is also very accommodating and tentative, it is almost like they have ESP. Always a sure bet coming here.
