It was large, and airy with lots of exhibits but not too much to overwhelm a person.
I like the permanent art work displayed however some parts of the museum are closed therefore one cant make the most of the museum. It is unclear where to go as there are theee expositions at the moment and none of them clearly signposted. There was a preparation of some sort of concert in the garden, again access for public is unclear and not signposted. A bit chaotic really but the member of staff are nice and helpful if you are lost!
Great modern art museum with permanent and non permanent collection and small library. Staff is professionnal and kind. We went there twice and we spent a good time each time :)Not comparable to the MoMA of Bilbao but it is a good place! And the front building with the fountain is really beautiful :)
This is a beautiful museum located in a prime location. They have a fantastic view of the canal and Eiffel Tower from their courtyard that they also share with Palais de Tokyo.I do wish I could have visited when they had different exhibits. Looking over the images from the past exhibits, they seem to have some amazing features. Unfortunately, during the time I visited, the featured exhibit didnt appeal to us. So we decided to just visit the permanent exhibits that didnt require admission fee.The café is lovely and carries some really great food and dessert options. We decided to just grab some water and cappuccinos during our visit. The cappuccinos were so good. A little on the pricier side, but standard to museum pricing. The book shop is great and has a lot of nice items. Found some gorgeous art prints, postcards and gift items. All the employees were very friendly, accommodating and helpful.I didnt know the coat check was free. Definitely a plus and must next time Im there.Id definitely like to come back next time I am in Paris!
We visited yesterday, 2 Jan 2020. Hugely disappointed to find 90% of it closed to the public. The Matisse room is open (there’s say 3-4 pieces), the Electricity room is open (1 large piece) - but otherwise only the paid exhibitions are open due to the neverending 4 weeks so far strike - ’apparently’ they don’t have enough staff to open the main collection - but they do have enough staff for 2 in the cloakroom, 2 on security, 1 on the info desk, 1 on the ‘gift shop’, the bookshop is open (didn’t bother going in to count staff) and they have enough staff to manage the ticket counter when the ‘paid’ exhibitions are at least €13 per head. And of course enough staff to supervise the paid exhibitions - at least 2 ticket collectors there and presumably more people on guard inside. Yes - the website says phone to check opening times and which spaces are open - but if you don’t speak fluent french - not going to happen -the info staff could barely explain the issue in person. Really poor showing.
Visited this museum whilst staying in Paris. It was interesting to start with however it was not what i expected before going inside. Some of the artwork looked like a child had created it however i guess its just art? The water fountain systems outside of the building was switched off and there was lots of construction going on.
Wonderful exhibition of anni and josef albers. One of the best we saw in a decade
I love that it is free! Its manageable. Its interesting. They have reasonably priced exhibitions.
General admission to the downstairs permanent exhibit is free and I see no way to even offer a donation. There is no cafe or place to hang out here but there are a few bathrooms peppered about. In general the collection quality is extremely high and its a great place to spend a few hours at no cost.
It is a place where ones imagination gets shapes and forms. The beautiful artwork of various famous artists of bygone eras and of present creates a fantastic combination to present to the audience. The place is very nicely maintained with a wonderful view of the Paris city.
I felt this museum was interesting but hard to navigate as my partner and myself ended up paying €10 for access to a gallery that we didn’t know wasn’t part of the main museum and only realised the free part was actually downstairs as we came out.The building was very clean and the art was very interesting.
The permanent exhibition is just amazing ✨
Interesting, good place to spend free time in.
So, this place has the best vibes to explore the Modern Art in Paris!I went there with my classmates as an official college visit and got much info from my professor about the whole place and each artwork.
Worth the visit. Amazing collections. So glad I made time to see their showcased exhibit.
Re opened, excellent spaces, good coverage of modern. A must do
Nice
The permanent areas of the museum were free and was a great way to spend a couple of hours. There were very few people which made browsing at our own pace easier.
Paris Museum of Modern Art 🚩One of my favorite museums, the others are Le Centre Pompidou, and Cité des Sciences et de lIndustrie. Most of the exhibitions are for free, you can also buy the ticket for the temporary displays. But I had already spent almost the whole day in the previous one, it would be a little rush to see all the exhibitions here. The Modern Art Museum of Paris is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm, and on Thursday until 10 pm. If you love modern art, pick one day to here. To keep up with the latest trends in art, go along to the Palais de Tokyo, opposite the Musée d’art moderne de la Ville de Paris. You will be dazzled in the charming places!
Love it😻
Great, had lots of help with the baby stroller when there were no elevators available. Beautiful art pieces. Bilingual info English and French. Museum is a good reasonable size, easy to visit in a half days time. The Cafe just reopened today, beautiful view and outdoor eating space.
Huge viraity of modern art and its all for free.
Really interesting! By the way, permanent exhibition is for free, it was a nice surprise
Pretty good, nothing special and the range of art seems basic to a layman
Great Space. It has a permanent exposition which is great and FREE. Bernards Buffet is worth paying the ticket though.
The 1937 room-sized mural showing the history of electricity is the best part. And, it’s free.
Free entry & cloakroom for all! Enjoyable visit with interesting pieces and not so many people.
Great little sections of modern art through time with helpful explanations of each period. Would come again.
Perfect morning visit and interesting book store!
Albers expo brilliant!
Very beautiful museum, a lot of masterpieces, free entrance and not too busy
Fantastic place to see on paris.
The Albers show was excellent
I was disappointed with this museum because the surrounding was dirty. The inside was tired and old. The big Dufy piece was very impressive in the Salle Dufy room. A must see! Part of the permanent collection is closed for renovations. Many Robert Delaunay pieces spread into two big rooms. Some other great pieces but thats it. Took us an hour and we were done. Maybe when they are done with their renovations and clean their surrounding, they will get two more stars from me.
Nice place, free of charge, interesting pictures.
Whats not to love. The feeling is like floating in the air.
Small but very good permanent exhibition. Disappointing that there is no price reduction for seniors to enter the special exhibitions.
Very nice exhibition of Zao Wou-Ki!
Great exhibits of modern art right in the heart of Paris
Cool museum, full of interesting and not so interesting pieces. Its also free, you pay for tours and audio guides. The cloakroom is also free
So good. And free. Kids enjoyed the MMA more than the Lourve 😯.
Complete collection. Fab
Out of the box thinking. Something very creative. Though I must admit I didnt understand more than half of the things.
Fabulous time got to see what I wanted to originally. Very happy. Worth the walk. Very interesting on all artists. And also allowed to take pictures.
This museum has a fairly small and nondescript permanent collection but we saw a touring exhibition that was large and impressive. I suggest looking on the website to see whats there before planning to visit.
Free museum! yeay, a charge if you want to see the temporary exhibit.
Its one of the best museums of Paris and it has free entrance to its amazing contemporary collection... I think its the perfect coda after the Pompidou, and it has some really good pieces from modern artists, amazing for real. Also they allow you to leave your luggage there so its a great thing.
Belle expo the power of my hands.
Quiet, large spaces, wonderful collection
Must visit
Fantastic museum with some great art and curated exhibits. Currently lots of work is being done so 90% of the permanent exhibition is not accessible.
Great experience!!! Its a must if you visit Paris!
It could be one of the best in the world if only the finance was injected in the rehabilitation of many areas. A fine example of modern art architecture. New projects should be issued. In the meantime go and check out the last exhibitions.
Aside from its collections, the museum has a great view.
Saw an excellent exposition on Bernard Buffet here. The building is nothing special but the exposition rooms are good. Location is quite close to the Eiffel tower. (photo is view from the museum)
Amazing place, enjoyable collection.
Nothing special
A bit disappointed as many of the permanent exhibit rooms were closed. Visited 2 very interesting temporary exhibitions. I also really like the very large Cezanne and Duffy rooms.
Its a cool place. But you cant take a video if you wanna take a video of a short movie
Home to very famous mural, this place offers large range of collections of modern art pieces for free. A great place to be on a rainy day.
Great Museum as it was not as crowded as all the others in Paris
Wonderful place, nice light and not so much people, pretty quite. Some art works in basement. Too bad here has no English voice guide.
Delightful experience!
Free and great collection
Good fun
It’s very beautiful place for museum. Such a lovely permanent collection for free viewing! The staff were also very welcoming, and it was great to be able to see some art in Paris without having to line up for hours. There are all different forms of art on display from sculpture to painting and video work, so its well worth a look even if youre not an aficionado by any means. I left the museum feeling super, not having had to manoeuvre through crowds of people and pay exorbitant sums to see some very cool art!
Very nice museum with always very interesting exhibitions. The space is clear and very comfortable to walk around the exhibition. The permanent part is very good as well, you will find Duffy or Matisse
Definitely enjoyable.
Better one
Ok nothing special
Great exhibitions!! The permenant collection is free and took me 2 hours to get through. It has something for everyone and has a variety of modern art even for those who dont get it. The second story with more digital based art was my favorite part. If you have time to wait for a turn there is an interesting virtual reality experience piece as well!
Somany art is there
Such a lovely permanent collection for free viewing! The staff were also very welcoming, and it was great to be able to see some art in Paris without having to line up for hours. I enjoyed visiting this place so much. You can easily find something special for you and get inspiration. Mediators are aware in the modern art, so they are able to inform you and give full answers to all weird questions.
Modern art is always great to look at. The exhibits here were edgy and creative. It’s also free, so that’s a good selling point! It’s right near Tour Eiffel as well, so good views.
Reopened in October 2019. It is calm and good place to enjoy modern paintings. It is free except special exhibition! You can see pieces of Picasso, Matisse, Modigliani, Bonnard and other famous painters. You may see at first fairy of electricity by dufy. The colors are so bright and fancy so you start enjoy the museum with happiness. The dance of Matisse is in another room and I recommend you see it at last. It looks simple but it will last long in your mind.
Rude security lady. Aggressive and unhelpful. Less lively than most popular museums here. Otherwise interesting pieces
Its good of you are art lover. The free halls are better than the paid ones.
Lots of abstract ways of expressing art, interesting!
Free entry to main collection
Amazing collection, absolute must visit. The museum has an app that gives a commentary about some of the collection, which is worth downloading.
Its not pretty good journey. Hardly to see the English translation on the wall to explain the exhibition. And the exhibition is quite messy. To find one thing enjoy or want to find which seems like I need to go far distance and different room to find it. But in general, its nice museum
This building is one of the greatest places in the world
The current special exhibition of works by the artist Karel Appel is very interesting if you keep an open mind. Unfortunately the permanent collection which has free admission is temporarily closed for renovations. A superb view of the Eiffel Tower from the square where you can enjoy a coffee. Note that the on site bookshop has many interesting art books, mostly in French. One final note that the exterior area around the building is a mecca for skateboarders and actually not very clean! (Did anyone say pissoir?)
Lovely building and ample space for the main exhibit. The experience largely depends on the collection so your mileage may vary. Not as large as many other modern art museums, so it only gets 4 stars.
Good place for tourist to see the art and painting etc
Great place for art and contemplations!
