I love the internet because it introduces me to places like Roma Market.I was caught up in the atmosphere of the place so I didnt really study the menu so Im not sure if my experience is the norm or I caught them on a special day. They had just one sandwich to offer today. A selection of Italian cold cuts and cheese on a very fresh roll. The price was only $6.I was sort of just passing by and I just grabbed the sandwich but I wish I had taken a bit more time to take a look around. Seems like a really neat place.
Once a little treasure. Ive never been to this shop before but they have lots of genuine Italian imported food items. They have a deli that serves two types of sandwiches, a salami sandwich with cheese and then a vegetarian sandwich and thats it. I love the simplicity of that. its family-owned and operated. And again, this is such a lovely market. Definitely coming back
Havent been inside but it looks ok. I dont know what else.to say..............Especially 200 words worth............ Like it seems clean and well kept. The owners must be responsible people........................... Its located in a decent area. Probably decent people go there.I eventually will go there and check it out fully myself. ..................Lets see................ What else can I say? Pasadena is a beautiful city. .............Most area codes begin will 911.Like 91101, 91104, 91106, etc.................................................................... If you ever visit, I hope you enjoy. 😁
Always fun and the drinks are nice and cold. They have the best sweets too!
Don’t believe the hype. The sandwich is just okay. Definitely not worth waiting in line for. At the risk of getting haters, you can find way better sandwiches elsewhere with Zero wait. The story is romantic and the store is charming and the owner is now a legend but this sandwich is just downright plain. Go to Mr. K’s in Burbank and try his meatless sandwich.
Felt like I was back in Massachusetts in the neighborhood shop. all the goodies. sandwiches like they were meant to be, crusty soft bread, great meats and just enough cheese.
I went to this place after an article I read raved about their sandwiches. When we went it did not dissapoint. There is no way Im going to any sandwich place if I can go there at that moment. You cannot beat the price as well. Great value for an amazing sandwich!
This is the all time, best Italian market Ive been to. Nice selection of olives and cheeses. Older gentleman is very much still part of the every day dealings. He had a chair and was going through inventory. Love this spot.
Come on now this is a slice of heaven on earth. I can sum it up in one word, Sandwich. Everyone knows the pink wrapper and whats inside will change your life forevermore. I buy the Italian butter there and Ive never experienced something so good on the fresh bread he sells. OMG
Small genuine Italian market. Best Sandwich ever. Friendliest and most charming owner
Italian market in Pasadena with a simple Italian sub (a Jonathan Gold fave). There’s just cheese, meats, and good olive oil on toasty bread, but something about its simplicity is soooo good. We tried slicing it in half to save some for another meal, but we just ended up eating the whole sandwich in one sitting. If you like spice, I’d suggest enjoying some peppers on the side for some extra zing (although the sandwich is good as-is.The sandwiches are piled up by the cash register and are $5 plus tax. They are wrapped in pink wrappers so it’s easily distinguishable. They accept credit cards. Parking is available in the small lot, and when I went in the afternoon on a weekday, it was easy to nab a spot (I imagine it would be much more difficult during the lunch hour). Be mindful of the posted signs, as many of the lot spots are for the other businesses in the complex.
The sandwich is delicious. The snacks are GLORIOUS. There’s also legit food for real meals, LOL.
Went in for the Sandwich. Lucky to live nearby. Get a sandwich and a few other goodies like olives, stuffed peppers, etc... and go for a picnic. Or just get a sandwich and go for a hike on the nearby trails. It is simple, good quality meats/cheese and olive oil on a crunchy but easy to eat baguette. The simplicity of the sandwich is what makes it so good as it is all about tasting the meats and cheese. It reminds me of having a bocadillo in Spain, and the simplicity of life before we had access to so many ingredients and fusion cuisines. Nobody makes sandwiches like this and thats the point.
Went here just for The Sandwich. They are located by the register and are made by Rosario Mazzeo. Amazing Italian sub. Must try.Read the la times article from July 2020 for more details on the story behind this delectable creation.
Love this Italian market their bread always fresh Cold Cut sandwiches are GREAT CHECK IT OUT ON CORNER OF HILL & MOUNTAIN in PASADENA
Amazing little deli, with lots of specialty items and everyday staples (great produce!). The sandwiches also are incredible.
The sandwich here is one of lifes simple pleasures! The market also has pleasant surprises for me on every visit. Thanks Rosario!
Great selection of many Italian imports and ingredients. They have anything you can imagine. Always great service!
The sandwich really is delicious. The bread has a soft crunch without being too much.
You’d think they moved this shop from Italy! You will find everything from Italy here. The best and most famous is their Italian sandwiches.. the little guy’ sell over 100 sandwiches a day, 7 days a week. I bought some to eat in the plane going to Hawaii, and people on the plane recognized the sandwiches just by the wrappers it’s wrapped it.
My entire life, this store has held its quality service and products. Classic!
They have delicious sandwiches, I love how they slice my cheese, turkey.
I love, love, love Romas Italian Market. I am originally from ALTADENA but, got married & now living in the ANTELOOE VALLEY. My parents still live in Altadena so,..just about everytime we visit them we usually stop at Romas for some fresh bread a few italian brand groceries and always pick up a few of those special sandwhiches at the deli counter & of course a couple containers of the specialty cookies. Yummy😉😋
The reason to come here is for The Sandwich. They have plenty of other Italian deli staples, but nothing you cant find somewhere else. But for $5.50 you get a great deli meat sandwich on a classic sun roll. Definitely worth the trip.
I couldnt really put it better than Shanelle S. already did. Im supporting her comment because its 100% true...simple and so good. I MIGHT actually eat my husbands too becase hes napping...Jonathan Gold knew his stuff..
A wonderful little store to get Italian provisions, cheese, deli and one of the best sandwiches in Pasadena! Its delicious and simple: crusty bread made by a Sicilian baker, a drizzle of good olive oil, a couple slices each of capicola, mortadella, salami and provolone. They are usually wrapped up and ready to go at the counter!
Went for The Sandwich and discovered a great little Italian market. The owner, a local icon, still greets everyone happily at the door. Definitely recommend a visit.Note: They have a vegetarian version of the sandwich, with cheese and artichoke, which is also great.
If you like the idea of a taste of European flavor in a a market by his your next stop.
Great little Italian store and Deli. Delicious sandwiches and good bread
It was hello hey very crowded inside room market OK. Which is good for business, a little scary in corona times. But they had every single Italian food and pastry that I wanted. The cheeses were so good the cookies so good and very good fresh pasta. I will recommend, my friend is mother recommendYou gotta go to the deli ask for “the sandwich“.
Excellent little place with great selection of imported Italian foods and ingredients, modern american beverage selections and of course the amazing sandwhiches. Cheap, extremely delicious and all you have to do is ask at checkout, the sandwiches alone are worth checking out.
This place is a really great spot to pick up some groceries. Their sandwiches at the counter are cheap, simple, and super good! Swing by this market if you want some Italian inspired food or a quick meal if you dont feel like cooking.
This place is an absolute gem! Simple, yet killer sandwiches which travel well and are perfect for hikes, parks, beach days. Plus they have a market stocked with the food stuff.
A local treasure with great Italian sub sandwiches, Italian deli items, many delicious treats. Friendly, efficient service.
Old school Italian market with charm. If youre looking for a typical sandwich with lettuce tomato, etc. its not for you. Breads fresh with a nice crunchy exterior, and quality meats. This place reminds me of a little italian market youd find in Brooklyn.
Very cool small real Italian market. Had the sandwich and it was excellent, a great combination and nice to support the community. I recommend this place to anyone wanting a filling, tasty sandwich for a great price.
One of the oldest family markets in Pasadena. Yes its small. Nice Deli. Get one of their subs sandwiches a small bottle of Chianti. You cant go wrong.
Great, I love the premade sandwich.
I Went To The Fish Market 👍🏽 Got My Grandson Some Shrimp And For Myself Fried Oysters 😊
We got a sandwich and it was heaven. There’s a good stock of Italian products. The service is not the best. The cashier was a quite rude to a customer while we were there.
First time being in there to get Italian sausage. Great service and the sausage is tasty in spaghetti sauce. I need to try a sandwich they sell because everyone kept buying one.
Great little Italian deli. Get there early for the olive oil bread.
Can a sandwich change your life? Go to Roma Market and find out for yourself.
Pretty cool store with some neet imported italian things including these great big Chocolate Easter eggs. Went for their sandwiches which they make ahead of time so you cant really order what you want. I probably wont be going back because of this.
Just turned 62 today Ive been coming here since I was 18 love this place..
Went for the sandwich. Lots of traffic. Took an hour to drive each way. Glad we went. Ran out of bread while we were there, so we watched the last six sandwiches of the day being made. Two were for us. Cant imagine making 500-600 every day in that small space.
Always stop in for the walnuts, pecans, & Almonds. On my last trip I purchased Peaches that tasted like they were picked right off the tree when I was a kid
Great and simple Italian sub
The sandwich is light, delicious, and savory. plus its a great old store and safe during the pandemic
We have been frequenting Romas since we moved into the neighborhood 6 years ago. This is the best place for all your Italian import needs from pasta to meats, cheeses, wine, olive oil, baked goods, and lots of imported chocolate. They also have delicious frozen ravioli, lasagna and pasta sauce and my hubby loves their spumoni. They have a small selection of fruits and vegetables and staples like eggs and butter but really this is the place to go if you want to cook authentically Italian. And the owner is wonderful and always quick with an excellent recommendation.
Great sandwich, super fresh bread, 5$
Ive been going to this place for many years. Great Antipasto salad. As far as I know they are the creators of the pizza sub.
Tasty sandwich! I took some home and gave one to my in laws (who are from France) they lived it and said it taste just like the sandwiches back home.. Me on the other hand, I am used to mayonnaise, lettuce and lime 6 meats plus tomatoes etc... If you want AUTHENTIC Italian, come here. If your tatse buds are more western, this may not be to your liking. Also, the Italian soda and Sicilian soda, bomb!!!
Fantastic Italian market. The Sandwich was delicious. I bought some cheese and was throughly impressed by the variety of Italian products and pre made Italian dishes (lasagna) and ingredients (ravioli). Got to say hi to the owner and inventor of The Sandwich which was a pleasure.
I had The Sandwich. It was simple and terrific. O also bought some Almond cookies, so much almond, great cookies.
My family started coming to Roma in the mid 1970s. Was so awesome to hear my dad chat with Rosario in Italian - the charm of this market totally brings you back to Italy. We reconnected with Roma and Rosario when my wife and I bought a house a mile away in 2000. For those 20 years, Roma was a regular for us. Sadly, last year we moved 300 miles away. Now every time we are near, we chat with Rosario and grab his signature sandwiches, and stock up on the amazing deli meats and cheeses. When Rosario was still being the counter, he always recommended something special! Everyone knows about Provolone, but Rosario turned us on to Provoletta!! Cant say enough good things about this man, and his market!!
Tiny hole in the wall Market packed full of Italian goodness. Sure, try The Sandwich but come back regularly for the pasta, wine and fresh bread.
Great service the girl go out of there way to help love this store
A wonderful little Italian market with simply great sandwiches. Parking is ready and the people are nice
I live down the street and feel so lucky to have this treasure in my neighborhood. It smells like a real Italian deli when you walk in, which of course it is. Everything here is great quality and delicious having the owner make recommendations of what you should buy is priceless. Also “the sandwich”can’t be beat.
Good food needs updating
Love the guy in the front. Gave great recommendations on what to buy. Will go back for the food, sandwiches and the Hispanic guy in the front😀
Drove quite a ways for The Sandwich. It was ok but too far a drive for us. I would go again but only if I was close by.
The sandwich is amazing. Get one.
Best Italian sandwiches!!! this deli is the best!
Its small but not bad, nice olives sdcc and fresh fruits and vegetables.
Roma market and the owner, Rosario, have created the most international and genuine markets around. My wife and I go often and don’t intend to stop!
Love the lil Italian small market
Best sandwiches in Pasadena for years, and great price 5.50 cant beat that.
There was a long line outside had to wait but it moved fast I only waited for about 15 minutes. Got the Italian sandwich it was delicious. A bargain too it only $5.50.
SANDWICHES ARE GOOD
The sandwich is simple, yet awesome. Local crusty bread, imported Italian olive oil, provolone and 3 meats for $6.50. get at least 2 when you stop by. There are also a lot of imported Italian items and frozen hand made pastas. The place is small, whith social distracting there may be a wait. However, since its small, the line niveya quickly.
Good quality of italian deli products, excellent selection of pasta. Good selection of italian cookies and commercial pastry.
Just moved to Pasadena, but from Covina.. Leona at Old World caffé in Covina recommend Roma Market!
The Sandwich Thats all that needs to be said, simplicity and yet beauty and delicious, its an experience, not just food
Im rating the market only, my only experiences. The market ranks five stars for length of service to the community, authentic Italian goods, cheeses, helpful staff. I buy my olive oil here for the same price as Amazon. Good choice of wines including premium Italian wines. Good produce.
This is an amazing little authentic Italian market. They stock Italian products and great wines. Great deli selection and home made pastas and sauces not to mention great customer service and store is very clean. Try their ready made sandwiches, very popular with customers but sell out by late afternoon. Easy parking too!
Great experience.
I waited in a long line for a very boring sandwich you cannot add or get any condiments and the locals just come and grab a sandwich ahead of you without waiting in line and walk out they just drop the money down and walk out so Uncool
Their sandwiches are super delicious!
Sandwiches are great.Always have everything I need ❤
Came for the sandwich and the sandwich alone. Lined up around the corner, they allow groups of ~10 people in at once (July 2020), and it seemed everyone was there exclusively for the sandwich. It was well worth it, and I will be back.
Best italian deli in the area. And the service is amazing. Great prices, too.
For years I love it and I recommend it to everyone
Best place for all Italian pantry needs. I get my guanciale, cheese and 00 flour here. The sandwiches are a must too. So easy and delicious.
Good market
Rosario is the nicest happiest guy.If you need to match a food with something he knows what kind of cheese, with what kind of wine, what kind of meats. His sandwiches are famous, we always buy several and warm them up on mic. Then add sliced tomatoes and avocado.Cant be beat. Spaghetti sauce in the box with his noodles, zucchini, sausage. Yum! Must go if you want to make the perfect meal.❤️😊
The vegetarian version of The Sandwich is delicious!
Their service is always exceptional and their sandwiches are simply delicious!
The bread is extraordinary! :)
Delightfully surprised with their meat and cheese selection. Neat shop
Love this place! Great sandwiches and great tiramisu. There was a line for sandwiches when I went this week but Im glad theyre busy!Sandwiches are a great size and super tasty.
