This used bookstore is beautiful!!! Floor to ceiling shelves crammed with used books. The music is soothing. The prices are great. It’s not that big but boy do they make good use of the space! They even sell vinyl records how cool is that?!

The bruised apple is a a true gem. It has more used books then any place I have seen. It is what I always imagined a true book store being like. There were step stools everywhere so short people (like myself) could explore those high up shelves. I picked up two books, my husband completed a series he was collecting and even my daughter found something. If you are a serious serious collector they had some cool first additions. The record side was cool too. I didnt really explore it as much as I would have wanted but. I doubt they would have wanted what I wanted. But yeah what an awesome place and great staff too! Ill go out of my way to come back here!

This is a funky little used bookstore with lots of character from its old, creaky wood floors, which I found delightful, to its overstuffed bookshelves and plethora of musical offerings the next room over - including what appeared to be quite the collection of vinyl records.This store also has antique books for the collector to peek at, and I would give it 5 stars but due to the age of the building and narrow aisles, it is not wheelchair accessible or very disability friendly which is unfortunate, but likely is grandfathered in due to its age.Overall a good stop to browse if youre in town and adds heaps of charm to an already charming location.

Scott, the owner and operator of Rotten Apple for ~27 years, is a legend and treasure. He was incredibly kind and helpful when my friend and I went in last night on a whim. Not only did he try to help me find a handful of obscure books I’d been wanting, he was just a really charming, friendly and interesting guy as well, and I felt completely welcomed in even though it was dead slow, and he was closing in an hour.The store’s selection is exceptional and surprisingly well organized given the breadth of their wares. From an experiencial level, walking over each creaky floorboard is a sensory experience of a time gone by, you can practically feel the store’s history as you browse through. Prices were completely affordable bordering on downright cheap. I bought 4 books and a T-Shirt for $37.94. What??? Oh and he threw in the stickers I was planning to purchase for free!Overall, Bruised Apple Books & Music is one of the best, if not the best second hand book store I’ve ever been to. If you’re in the area, or nearby, you’d be doing yourself a disservice by not checking out this wonderful little gem.

Great place! Local shop thats got a nice selection of used books, CD, and vinyl records. Squeaky wooden floors really tie this space together nicely. The wall art is a really nice touch that, after one visit, I havent explored half of whats up.

Not just a bookstore, but a rich, and, today, rare experience. Stepping inside is travelling into the richest aspects of book culture and reading. The worn floor creaks like a welcoming song. The tall shelves lean towards you, promising wonder, learning and adventure. The scent of old paper and worn bindings should be be bottled as a perfume for the compulsively literate. A treasure for all the senses, and the mind as well.

The space is synonymous with used books. You can lose yourself for hours just browsing

This place is a gem that will transport you back in time. It made me emotional to be able to hold old books and listen to teenagers gossip in the aisles. No cellphones in sight. They have lots of great vinyl records and they even have a turntable with headphones so you can listen before you buy. They have lots of great books and I went home with a couple of antique ones. I really recommend dropping by this place to relax and do a digital detox.

We love the Bruised Apple, its a staple and a key part of the Peekskill community.They have a really wide selection of used and vintage books, records & DVDs . You can literally spend hours getting lost discovering new reads.

Don’t go to this store without plugging the meter for a while. Used book and records for miles. It is the kind of store you can really lose track of time in. Nice proprietor, and the store is well organized considering the vast quantities of materials to peruse. There is even a record player and headphones so you can try the records.out before purchasing.

I love everything about this book store, its amazing, they have any book you could imagine. The atmosphere is so beautiful and smells amazing. You should check it out if you havent been there before, its worth the trip because peekskill is s cute little town, go visit a book shop and then a coffee shop, take a gal down there, you can never go wrong. Also can find music you never knew existed and rare albums too.

Its a book store, it has comics and it also has records, albums, 12s and 45s. I have found some good tittles. It is definitely worth the drive or walk if you are nearby.

This is my favorite store in Peekskill and my favorite bookstore in all of NY state!!! I ALWAYS find something that draws my interest right to the first page. This place is not your typical bookstore. The staff are super helpful & knowledgeable. There is such variety you could spend forever browsing and lose complete track of time. The ambiance is cozy and inviting! Make sure to check out their records, DVDs, CDs and comics. Youll never know what jewels youll find when you come here. This place is like visiting an old friend for me as Ive come here for years. I always find something magical! Its the best little bookstore in NY and with such a collection how could you go wrong!?! Theyre open on weekends as well with plenty of parking options. Enjoy, its an experience youll likely not soon forget!!!
