Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.They kept my debit card number without my knowledge and made unauthorized charges to it. When I called to report this to them, the “manager” was rude and unapologetic. She claimed to have reversed the charge but when I called my bank, they had no record of this being done.We had been using their business for years and most of their service people were nice but after this experience we will find another company.* Regarding the response below:There was no check used in this transaction. I provided a credit card that was to be used but apparently the charge was ran through on my debit card which had been kept on file from a previous service call with out my knowledge. This resulted in money being taken directly from my bank account, not on the credit card as I had requested. Unprofessional, discourteous and rude. Never again.
DO NOT USE THEM. What appealed to me initially were the price points but now switching companies I am actually paying less than I was with them. They are extremely rude and there is zero customer service for anything that goes wrong. They installed a new oil tank (which was very expensive) which had issues shortly after and when I called they told me that it would be a charge for them just to come out and look at it. Let alone fix anything that was wrong with it. That was three weeks after installation. I also asked them to shut off my heat to my basement so it only releases into my house and I was told they could not do that. And again if I wanted somebody to come out it would be another charge just for them to come out and give me their opinion. I switched to another company and found out how horrible this company actually is. I would highly recommend switching or at least calling other places. You will not be disappointed. This company really should not be in business especially with the woman that answers the phones. She has hung up on me a couple of times andProbably one of the rudest people I have ever encountered. It’s a family business so there seems to be no concern or problem with being rude or hanging up the phone on customers. If I knew how I would report them to the Better Business Bureau.

We have been using Check Oil for two years now and we cant say enough about the reliability, rates and service from this company. We use them exclusively for both oil and propane (auto) delivery as well as having them do the annual maintenance on our boiler and water heater and have NEVER had any problems or issues whatsoever. We have had the pleasure of meeting the owner Dave, as he came out to personally make sure our propane system was set up correctly and up to code, and he was both personable and genuine. Our service tech Tony has our old boiler working so efficiently that we actually started saving money on heating since he has taken over our annual boiler maintenance and he always willing to answers any questions we might have and give us helpful advice. Also we live at the end of a long driveway and anytime we might be concerned about delivery, say before a big snowstorm, the nice folks at the office have always made sure we had a fill up before the storm hit. Again, we cant say enough good things about this company and the great service they provide, if you are looking for a reliable oil/propane provider with very fair rates and service charges, I seriously think you should give theses folks first consideration in your search.PS: I only write these (lengthy) reviews for companies or professionals that I truly feel deserve the praise, if you read the 4 or 5 others I have posted, you will find every one of them is truly worthy.
Check oil company should be avoided for any service related issuesThe oil prices are low but dont let them near your furnace. Technicians are not licensed or knowledgeable past changing a filter. Check oil charged over and over again never coming close to the issue. Finally after many calls to many oil companies i found a reliable technician. Westchester doesnt required any certification or training for furnace technicians. Check oil put my family in danger and cost our family expense as well as many cold nights.They will be happy to come when called but dont expect any resolve. They will have to be called back the very next day.
Got heating oil from them for the first time in over a decade... now it smells like theres a diesel truck idling in my driveway all day long. Having the oil tested at an independent lab as Im convinced they filled my tank with some garbage or clean diesel used in their trucks. Stay far far away. Over 30 years of living here with regular oil fills from other companies and never smelled anything like this. If the oil turns out to be anything other than #2 home heating oil this will end up being the most expensive thing theyve ever had to deal with.
Excellent customer service and staff. We were low on propane and Check scheduled me for same day delivery while the company that I had dealt with over the 8 years couldnt come for another 4 days. On top of that, check gave me a better price! Thanks guys
Two weeks ago I closed on a house prior to the closing Had my final inspection walk-through discovered that one of the heating zones wasn’t working properly my attorney and realtor told me to call check oil I called immediately first thing in the morning 8 o’clock service tech came took care of my problem got my zones operating quickly show me what the problem was purge the system And got heat back up and service my boil a tune up filter changes etc. Thank you check oil for making my experience a happy one and for sending out a friendly good service tech.
Excellent and professional service! They replaced my entire furnace and I couldnt be happier with the level of service they provided. Check oil put in a new tank for my house in the fall of 2017 in Montrose. Dave the owner himself over seeing the work being done correctly. Very professionally done. My tank was cut open, cleaned out the remaining sludge and abandoned in place. When his team was done it was like he was never there. Price was very reasonable. Thanks Dave. I hope you never have to replace your boiler, but if you do, i highly recommend Check, Last month when my boiler died beyond repair, after a good bit of research i chose check oil to do the installation. Dave the owner, managed all aspects of the installation.He explained everything and completed the installation as promised and on schedule. I highly recommend Tony. He came out during the week long power outage. We had no heat with generator and he figured out how to over ride the problem. He spend time explaining what he was doing and how I.t works To both my husband and I. We were so happy to have heat in this fridge temp. Thank you Tony.

When my oil company was giving me the run-around as to when they could deliver oil, Check Oil was friendly and able to deliver in a bind without charging additional fees. I really appreciate their dedication to customer service. Will def use them again!
Called for a first time delivery on a Friday at $2.85 per gallon for the following Monday. When I called on Monday to get the time of delivery I was told between 1 and 3 and that the price was $2.75 . So they delivered 500 + gallons and charged me $ 2.85 . I called and explained this, they accused me of lying and said that no one there would have ever told me that and were extremely rude, guess I should have read reviews before using this company as this seems to be their standard operating practice.UpdateAs you can see by the their response they are extremely rude and I did not demand the lower price and was not screaming. I informed them that I was told the price was $ 2.75 and they accused me of lying and that I was never told that at which time I did become aggravated that they would accuse me of lying instead of just apologizing for the confusion.Second UpdateThe Owner Dave called and was very apologetic and was appreciative of my business. He seemed like a really good guy and adjusted the price.

I just ordered an oil delivery for the second time with Check Oil, and I’m happy with them. Prices are reasonable, customer service is good, and delivery is timely and goes smoothly.
I’ll preface this by saying I have my phone conversation with the owner and his wife recorded if anyone wants to listen to how you can be talked to like you’re garbage.I’ve had issues since day 1 dealing with Check Oil. The tech they sent out was probably the only nice person I’ve dealt with. The second time calling, I dealt with the owners daughter Cassandra B. I wanted to request a cleaning as my contract includes one. I had a cleaning a few months ago that was given to me free of charge as the tech said they would make an exception since they installed the boiler for the previous home owner, they would put the cleaning under the previous owners contract. So I signed up with them for a new contract.When inquiring about the cleaning I should receive on my contract, she was extremely rude over the phone. (Note this is my first home using Home heating oil, I was very uneducated about the process) Cassandra spoke over me several times, not allowing me to finish my sentences and saying that they never extend contracts from previous homeowners and that the cleaning that was performed was done under my contract (exact opposite of what my tech told me). I requested to speak to the owner although I was not given an opportunity to. I told Cassandra I was going to go online and tell the public about how they treat people and do not honor contracts. After going back and forth she finally apologized on her end and I remained a customer and did not give the company any bad reviews. Little did I know, being very sneaky, she left notes in the computer on my account that I was a problematic customer. As you will see later.Fast forward to 12/29. We had a very cold few weeks and I checked my oil tank. It was very close to the empty mark. I put in two calls to Check oil to request the quickest possible oil delivery. The website says 24/7 service. A message was left and not returned. (I have proof of the call records and a 50 second message that was left).By the next morning my call still had not been returned. I could not wait on them and risk going empty as the temperatures were around 12 degrees F all week. I contacted another company and they delivered immediately.A few hours later we received some vibrations in the house from the boiler. I now know that if the tank gets close to empty, the sludge build up can clog the nozzle and give an uneven spray.My wife contacted Check oil on 12/31 about the boiler vibration and spoke to the owner, David Bell. My wife had him on speaker phone so I could hear. My wife told him that we had to go with another company to fill up because Check oil had not answered our calls or messages. This is where David became irate, then began talking about the notes that his daughter left in the computer from our conversation months ago and that they see I always have a problem with the company.The owner spoke to me as if I was complete garbage, similar to the way his daughter spoke, except worse. He would not let me get a word in and just kept repeating that my contract is null and void because I received oil from another company, I never called or left a message. He told me he did not care that I had the phone records, he said he checked the answering machines and that I never left one. While going back and forth he later admitted I called but said I only called to check the oil price and decided to go with someone cheaper. This is not true, I would not have to call for pricing as they list pricing on their website.Throughout the conversation which was laced with profanities on his end, I spoke very calmly calling him “sir” and trying to be as polite as possible. I even offered for him to come to my house to check my phone to see that I had called on my iPhone phone record. When I said this, David said, I don’t want that because I don’t know who I am dealing with, and started to chuckle. He later hung up on me. I called back and spoke to his wife Debbie S. Bell., who went on a screaming rant about how she won’t be as nice as her husband. Screamed happy new year and hung up.
Check Oil is always responsive and pleasant to speak with and they provide service that day or the next! I highly Recommend!
I agree with Mr. Chic. The Irish lady who does the customer service is very, very rude and does not have a pleasant attitude when dealing with customers. Her behaviour and the way she speaks to people on the phone is unbecoming of a business who wants to maintain good customers! I have given them plenty of business. She gives you a hard time getting the oil to you or cannot deliver at all. The delivery person said he could have delivered it the next time he arrived. They are not dependable and you are spoken to as if you need them. I took my business elsewhere and will never use them again. This lady is allowed to bully customers and withhold deliveries as she sees fit. Shame on you. Stay away from this company.

Check oil came through for me and my family today in single digit weather when our boiler stopped running. The oil became slugey and our boiler shut off sometime overnight due to that, which caused our water and heat lines to freeze. We called around 7:30am and they had an oil truck here by 12 noon. We also had to call a plumber since one of our pipes burst and they had to help us thaw out our lines since he heat wasn’t turning on. The plumber was able to get the boiler running again, but it wouldn’t stay on for very long. We called Check oil again, but this time for service and they sent their service tech Tony. He came within a half hour, was very nice and replaced one of the parts which fixed the issue! So happy we signed a service contract with check oil, luckily the part was included in the contract. I know it can be frustrating waiting for a truck to come at times when your family is freezing, but know that this company really does care for their customers and tries to get to everyone as quickly as they can. Elaine on the phone is also very nice every time we call, no matter how big or small the issue is. Thank you check oil !

This company is very dishonest. I have no problem with them delivering heating oil. They seems to charge the going rate as it fluctuates with local oil prices. However, dont sign on to their service contact and more over dont give them your credit card on file. The service technicians vary in their knowledge and skills. I had them for two years and their performance was very poor. In addition, they over charged me for services not covered by their service plan. I have a dispute with them regarding one of these service charges with my credit card company.
Excellent service! We had Robisons and Burke -- both were awful and prices through the roof. We have called Check when we were on vacation and our driveway wasnt plowed yet they got it done. Id highly recommend them.
I recently moved to a new home and had an oil emergency and thankfully they came through right away. Thank you for your speedy service we will definitely be calling again.
