Scenic 90 Cafe is definitely one of the best classic βdinerβ experiences in Pensacola. On our visit, the restaurant was very clean and we had excellent service. There was also outdoor seating available which was a nice plus during this Covid era. They have an all day breakfast menu, which we did not take advantage of this trip. We had the Open Faced Hot Roast Beef w/gravy (10.99), the catfish dinner (grilled, 10.99), and a Vegetarian PoBoy (6.99). The catfish grilled was cooked perfect, and the sides of turnip beans and black eyed peas were on excellent and in the southern tradition. The Vegetarian PoBoy was also a good option and very tasty and unique combination of flavors. The Roast Beef was the only entree not as favorable, as the beef was very dry and tough, but the sides of glazed carrots were sweet and fresh and if you like that you will enjoy them, and the mashed potatoes were somewhat cafeteria style. A great experience overall though I would stray away from the latter dish. We will come back to try breakfast.
Stopped by for breakfast this morning with our golf group. Great food and wonderful service. Denise is one of the best waitresses in all of Pensacola. Stop by and try it. You wonβt be disappointed!
The ham and cheese omelet was delicious. I went with the potatoes and onion over the grits and a biscuit instead of toast. The potatoes were cooked perfectly . My food buddy ordered the waffle with strawberries ( there were other fruit options) . She was pleased when served as the waffle had fresh π on it! Unfortunately, the waffle was overcooked . They were crowded and we had to wait for a table.( 11 AM on a Sunday) Parking is limited. I had to wait until a spot became available.
Scenic 90 Cafe is adorable from the outside. The inside reminds you of of a 50s diner and it felt like the Back To The Future set when you walked in.The food didnt really match the decor though. Im sure this would be a great breakfast spot because you cant really mess up breakfast but the glazed chicken I ordered was a bit on the dry size. The macaroni and cheese was watery and lacked flavor as well. The steamed broccoli was good with some butter and salt. Cant go wrong with broccoli either.Sadly, my first meal here was lackluster. It reminded me of cafeteria food in all honesty. My friend got the fish and chips special which looked really good and she enjoyed it.The staff were very friendly, the man seating us even pulled out my chair, so Id like to give a shout out to them for being awesome!
We just stopped in for a minute to grab some cold beverages, but loved the diner look & feel, we were impressed with the menu options, and our waitress was so inviting. So, we stayed for lunch and everything was fantastic! Had to order lunch to go so I could show my husband (waiting at home) how great this place is. He loved it too. Well be back!
When we first walked in and greeted the front desk with a positive greeting, the old man at the podium didnt acknowledge us and his aura was very dark. Clara, our server, was great! She gets 5 stars from us. Typical diner food was good. Specialty meal not good at all. Seemed like frozen food that was put in the microwave. Management lost it and management needs to be trained on customer service. Probably not going back.
Great place to eat! The service was amazing. Denise could see our grandson was getting antsy and took him to tour the restaurant. She sat him up at the counter and provided crayons with a coloring book. After he was done meeting all the staff he returned to the table and was given snacks while we waited for our meal. Denise went above and beyond. The entire staff were friendly and kind. Definitely will be back.
Absolutely Phenomenal is the only way I can describe this restaurant! Our server Karissa was so attentive and knowledgeable all with a smile (even through her mask!)The design of the place is adorable! So many great touches that really bring the aesthetic togetherOur food was delicious as ever could be! I got the chicken and dumplings with hush puppies and fried okra, and WOW! I have never had food that tasted so nostalgic! Especially the chicken and dumplings! They tasted just like my mamas! My husband ordered the vegan meatloaf to give it a try since he loves meat loaf, and he cleaned the plate!TL;DRStop by here for delicious food, fantastic service, and great atmosphere!
Was a little dirty while not busy, but food was pretty average. Customer service was great
Weβve always loved to eat here. We decided to go again today instead of multiple choices. Sorry to say but Iβm sorry we chose to eat there.Tall dark haired young guy waited on us. Had to wave him down to bring our drinks after a long wait. Had to flag him down again for my chicken soup. Finally our meals just were not good.I ordered open faced roast beef sandwich. When he came by to see if everything was alright I told him no that we both thought the gravy had some tangy kind of flavor going on and I asked if they had changed the receipt. He said he would talk to the kitchen. He never came back and addressed the issue after that. My roast beef was extremely dry and his chicken was the same. Brought most of both meals home for the neighborhood dog. Totally disappointed in both our service and our food.Taco Bell would have been the better choice for today.
The cubed beef and gravy with a side of green beans and fried okra was fabulous. The location is wonderful with the outdoor seating choice as well makes this a true local (and visitors) favorite!
90 Cafe is an amazing place. The menu is simple but there was nothing simple about their service and hospitality. The building is very unique. Im saddened to say I may never get to eat here again being from Texas but this place made a great 1st impression and you guys should be proud. You satisfied my Texas sized appetite.
Good food for the price. Like waffle house except the food is better, they have more options and the vibes is better. Altho one time I went I got sick for a few hours after words and one time I ordered a egg sandwich which had mayo and such on it yet she brought out scrambled eggs with toast and potatos then complained about how her tire went flat for 20 mins as me and my dad were trying to have a conversation and dine. Was very annoying especially after getting my order wrong.
Great burgers, delicious Chocolate Malt & the best grits Iβve ever had! They bake the pies fresh daily, reasonably priced as well! Weβre definitely becoming regulars! Canβt wait to try the breakfast!
Found this gem on our last over night on downtown Pensacola. The building is amazing. As is the service and food. Weve tried items on the breakfast and lunch menus and have been pleased with both. Being only about 10 minutes away from the Pensacola Airport, Scenic 90 cafe has become our first stop after picking up family and friends coming to visit.
Their food has big room to improve. Thick sauces based on flour that just look like glue. A shame. It has a wonderful view.
This place is a hidden gem!! The only sad thing is that we didnβt find it earlier in our trip. Best homemade breakfast and lunch we had the entire vacation! The boys loved (and devoured) their blueberry pancakesβ¦. The patty melt and onion rings were fabulous. The biscuits were light and fluffy just like grandma used to make. The mashed potatoes were real (not the flakes) and the gravy could have been a beverage - it was that good. The coffee was hot and the orange juice was squeezed fresh at the moment it was ordered. And donβt even get my family started on the coconut cream pieβ¦. They will start salivating again π€€. Ask for Denise and you wonβt need for a thing! Service was fast and with a smile. As all restaurants are these days, they could use more staff β¦.. but you would not know that with Denise. You felt like you were her only table! We were never left wondering where our waitress was as we were at several other restaurants we visited this week. And our table of 7 ate for well under $100. Unheard of in this area!!!! Just visit them soon and oftenβ¦. You can thank me later. π
Enjoyed it While on vacation, friendly and welcoming outstanding food and service
There were five of us; retirees monthly breakfast get together. Waitress was attentive and kind. Two of us were served nearly burnt biscuits. Please dont serve that to your customers, Scenic 90!
Scenic 90 Cafe is a wonderful restaurant. The food is as good as it gets and the portion sizes are always just right. Even when its super busy, the quality of the food never suffers. And speaking of busy, expect a short wait on special days like Mothers Day and Fathers Day, especially during the breakfast hours. I promise, your patience will be well rewarded with a fantastic dining experience.
Have breakfast almost every Friday. Great food and service.
Great place and Pamela is an excellent server. We came two nights in a row! Something on the menu for everyone at good prices. This is an excellent choice if youre in town visiting.
Four of us ate at this cute 60s style diner. They have a great variety of foods on the menu. We each had something different. One friend had steak and eggs. He was a little disappointed at the size of the steak, but enjoyed his meal nonetheless. One friend enjoyed her seafood pasta with a side of candied carrots. One friend liked his fried grouper sandwich. And I enjoyed the pastrami grinder. I would have liked more meat and less bread, but it was still good.
Favorite special place for my daughter and I to go for breakfast on her day off. Good breakfast and fast. Endless coffee. Waitresses always good.
We popped in for brunch while on a girls weekend in Pensacola. It was everything I had hoped for when I think of a diner. From the over all feel of place, to the servers. Lets talk about the food, I ordered the Philly cheesesteak omelet and a mimosa with fresh squeezed orange juice and it was AMAZING! My only complaint is they dont have a location in Texas. If youre a local or just on a visit definitely stop in you wont be disappointed!
This place is GREAT! Good food, good people, awesome vibe! Thanks Denise for the great dining experience!
The atmosphere is great have brought my family more than I can remember. Youll have an enjoyable time there.
I am a little biased since my grandmother is a waitress here, but I loved stopping by for burgers, catfish, milkshakes, etc. as a kid and getting doted on by her. The food is always great and my service at least has been phenomenal. π Really great, unique, and inexpensive place to go.
Positive points first....server was great, very friendly, restaurant was clean. Sides were great!!!Ordered the pork chops and they tasted like fish!!! Was told they had alot of fish orders lately and they were due to change the oils tonight. Was given half off my meal but it wouldnt have helped if I was allergic to fish
Came in for a late breakfast & got what I can only assume, was a new, not to mention very rude server. As someone in the restaurant industry, I try to be patient with places that are busy...but she literally wasnt as busy as she projected. Barely got refills unless we asked for them, couldnt get side plates for appetizers, sides came long after the entrees were almost finished...like, she literally couldnt even clear the dirty glasses or plates when she came by to bring one of the many things forgotten. My daughters smores French toast was chocolate chips on bread & her eggs, along with our sides were CLEARLY left in the window entirely too long. The roast beef is sandwich meat sitting in gravy.Second time weve visited in 2 weeks....will pass on a third.
We stopped for breakfast, our server was fantastic! My hubby had biscuits and gravy, he said it was tasty and he enjoyed it. I had eggs benedict, a half order which was enough for me. It was good but after eating half I realized there was no hollandaise sauce. Oh well, I finished it off. The potatoes were tasty but were a bit soggy. All and all pretty good. Well eat there again.
Fantastic food! Fantastic service! Good prices! And a super chill, retro atmosphere! I love every thing about this place. I got the country fried steak, black eyed peas, macaroni and cheese, corn bread, and pie all for $12! You really cant beat that! The food was delicious and our server was incredibly kind and helpful. I will definitely be going back. Cant wait!
Amazing service, amazing food, and amazingly clean place! I have not one bad thing to say about this place! Fresh squeezed orange juice, great prices, and snappy service! π Will visit here every time I come to Florida!
Great atmosphere! Good food. Loria was a very attentive server!
I would Highley recommend eating here. The food was affordable and soooo good. The staff is amazing, and very kind, after we finished eating our car wouldnβt start and a couple of the staff members came out to help.
I used to love going to Scenic 90 years ago. This time, the food made me ill. The coleslaw was rancid, the fish was at room temperature, was dried out, and had a very strange taste. Its a good thing they forgot the side salad because I dont know how it wouldve turned out. My friends gumbo was cold, and the french fries were inedible. As much as I want to reclaim my fond memories, it breaks my heart to say that this was the most disappointing food experience Ive ever had.
Great food with a varity of choices, classic atmosphere & wonderful service! Highly recommend...
The food was fantastic. The chocolate peanut butter pie was decadent. I will definitely be going back again.
Employees so friendly. Food was delicious. The menu had unique southern style foods.
Very disappointed at this place and the people that work here. I walked in with my friend to enjoy a delicious breakfast. The host was very nice got us a table. We sat down fo over 20 minutes, no one was bothering to offer us a drink or to take our order, other people would walk in and their order was taken quickly. I approached one waitress and told her about the situation her response was they were all to busy to take our order or to go to my table. We left this place. Obviously if you are Hispanic or Latino or other race then white you are not welcome here. The host asked me if everything was okay I told her what happened and she was embarrassed for the inconvenience that all the waitresses put us through.
The facility was unique and the employees were fast and polite. The food was absolutely delicious. I got a yogurt oat fruit thing, with a full serving of biscuits and gravy. It was soooooo fuggin good... My girlfriend got vanilla pudding with biscuits and gravy. We both added the sausage to the gravy too!! When we visit we will definitely come again.
Good old fashioned 50s diner with several and affordable options to choose from. The Scenic Burger is a must try! Their breakfast is good with your typical breakfast items. If you are ever in the area you must give this place a try.
We stopped into this cute diner for a quick breakfast before an 8 hour drive home. Parking was a little difficult because the lot was quite full. We were seated right away and our server was very friendly. I ordered a cheeseburger and my husband a breakfast sampler. I really regret not having ordered the fresh squeezed Orange juice it looked amazing! Both of our meals were delicious and very inexpensive considering they were cooked fresh and high quality.
Hands down the BEST green beans, creamed corn and baked beans. Open face roast beef was very dry with only a small amount of brown gravy, catfish was flavorless and crab claws had way to much breading even though says βlightly breadedβ on menu. All in all Iβd go back for their sides for sure.
10/10 dont recommend it. Youd get better service and food at waffle house. We went in they seated us and we never got any service and after we did it was pretty bad we had to go get our own stuff off of other tables had to repeatedly ask for our drinks or other items. The food was mediocre at best it was a bit like ordering at McDonalds they take your order but give you whatever they want. Our potatoes were charred and the filling to our omelette wasnt cooked. After checking out we did not receive the correct change back from our order we will not be going back. Recommend just saving your time it wasnt a pleasant experience.
Food was not fresh I ordered a grilled cat fish and it taste like they grilled it in the sewer. Coleslaw was soggy not fresh and a not very friendly place. First and last time I will ever go there. I gave it one star only waste of 40 dollars.
This place used to be incredible but has really fallen downhill lately. every time Ive gone for dinner over the last few months I left disappointed. this place is such an original concept but has fallen from grace so much. I see that a lot of the recent good reviews are from when people go for breakfast, maybe something is going on with those working at night? I waited half an hour last night for a burnt cheeseburger and soggy fries, neither of which I finished. my family used to come all the time but I dont think I will be returning any time soon.
Lovely and prompt staff. Everything in the menu is incredible. You really canβt go wrong here.
Great brunch. A axctual omelets done in a pan!!!! There a super reason to visit
Great little diner with delicious desserts. Takes us back in time with the decor. The staff treats you as if they know you. Looks like everyone in there are locals. A very nice neighborhood diner with an expansive menu. Food was excellent. Cant wait to go back for more.
Even before Covid, this is our go to for to go food! My husband eats the chicken fried steak at least once a week, and loves the banana split. They have the best blue cheese salad dressing. They also have great dine in classic breakfast options as well.
The food tasted like nothing (which scared me becauseβ¦ covid lol). But!, it wasnt packed and the staff was very kind so Iβll give it that extra star.
1950s style dinner. This was our first time going and it was pretty good. Quick and efficient service. I got the chicken and waffles. Kids got pancakes. The chicken and waffles was pretty good, I just wish the chicken tenders had some seasoning. The pancakes were okay too. I was interested in trying them out for.lunch or dinner. Service was great and prompt. Clean establishment and bathrooms.
IF YOU ARE HISPANIC DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!!!!!Sat for about 10 minutes and got completely ignored! Everyone else around us got great service and the woman who had our section didnt even acknowledge us she took care of everyone else but us, I would understand if it was busy but it wasnt. She kept walking by us and didnt care for us at all. I didnt get her name but she had what looked like pink and blue highlights in a front part of her hair.Highly think it was a racial thing, very disappointing and sad that my family had to experience this.
AMAZING menu!Great prices!Friendly staff!You wont be disappointed
This dinner takes one back to a simpler time in the best way possible. Walking toward it you will notice it fully embraces its roots with the metal exterior. After walking in one will notice the beautiful interior that uses neon and metal to create a wonderfully nostalgic feel. The food is fantastic. I ordered the Cajun omelet and Im very happy I did because it was a treat. The flavors worked together in a way that was truly special. I had a side order of biscuits and gravy that was exactly what one would want seasoned perfectly and the biscuits held up nicely. Great time for all ages!
This retro diner was a great place to eat breakfast. Our server even let us try a new item for free. The food and atmosphere were awesome.
Cozy lil cafe w/ a pet friendly patio.
Wasnt busy but still slow, and the food was just bleh. The french fries were amazing tho an everyone was friendly at least
Great service and reasonably priced food. The omelette was pretty big and really good, delicious milkshakes, and such a cute looking retro styled diner.
Great classic diner. Food was delicious (specially the pancakes) and the service was great. loved the experience!
Awesome food and customer service.
Always great food and great service! Get there early to beat the rush.
Wow, you hungry, this is a must. The only restaurant that has its own processor for fresh squeezed orange juice. Omelets to die for.....
May 26, 2021Horrible experience! Freezing cold; the temperature must have been 60Β° in there.Took half an hour to get simple things like gumbo and 1 salad out of 2. Potato skins appetizer took like 45 minutes and was the worst and most disgusting Ive ever seen or had. No appetizer plates were provided even though we asked for them. Since we were starving we wolfed them down with our hands. While we were waiting waiting waiting we smelled something burning in the kitchen. Finally the 2nd salad came out right before our burgers came out. The 2nd salad was an iceberg wedge and the blue cheese crumbles were completely dried out and inedible. The burgers were okay except for the drenched lettuce and the overripe tomato slice.I had also asked for diced onion on the burger and there were only around 15 little pieces, for which I was charged an additional $0.99.That was ridiculous and I have never had any restaurant do this in my life. I was too anxious to get out of that place that I just paid and didnt question it.We ordered and sent back onion rings as they were inedible because they were burnt to the point they were black. The waitresss explanation was that there were cooks that night who had no experience and there was nobody with experience in the kitchen to guide them. The whole experience of stopping for a few burgers took around 2 hours in the freezing cold.Never again. There must be something wrong with the management to leave rookies in charge of the kitchen. Its not fair for them to leave diners as the Guinea pigs for untested kitchen staff.
Pretty nice spot. Good food and good service. Wife and I will be sure to come back again.
Food was not very good but people were nice!
Excellent service and great food. Love the atmosphere...
A bit of wait but worth the wait pretty good food.
Not your typical cafe. Excellent food!! Id say its a old school vibe with a modern cafe menu. Ill be going back
Really cute place! Great service. I wish we had time to try the desserts!
