Buyer beware.Drove 30 minutes to get here and we were very happy initially with what we foundPros: huge selection. Great prices. More variety of items than you usually see in one place. We spent two hours browsing and still didn’t see it all.Cons: bought three items. 2 of them turned out to be a waste of money.First item was a Hess truck. Dealer had many of them. Still in box. No markings of damage on the the tag. Got it home and there was a battery in the truck which had leaked and corroded the toy.Second item was a tinted green glass water jug with spigot. It was obvious to us that it was a reproduction when we bought it although it was not marked as such. In fact it was marked “dated late 1800’s”. It was pretty and priced well. Got it home and the spigot leaked as it was not sealed well. We washed it in the sink by hand with dawn and the green tint started to wash off. Clear glass. Painted with a temporary green tint.We will probably go again next time we are in the area. While a few bad apples don’t necessarily indicate issues with all dealers, we will be very careful with purchases here in the future.Very disappointed that 2/3 of our purchases were misrepresented by the dealers. We do not blame the antique mall but buy with caution as there seems to be some unscrupulous dealers there. If they were not so far away we would drive back with the items and ask for a refund.
Great place to wander around. Just wish the layout was easier to follow because I know I missed some booths. It would also be nice if the vendors werent asking top dollar for their items so you would feel like you were getting a good bargain. But, I will definitely be back. Wish the Phillipsburg Mall would fix itself because that was my go-to mall.
Love love love this place. Crazy (& I mean crazy) selection of EVERYTHING! Antiques, books, furniture, collectible toys, coins, jewelry old & new.When my family comes to town for a visit thats the 1st place they want to go. They ALWAYS buy something & its also a great place to buy gifts in a pinch.It has something for everyone & whether youre a townie or passing thru on a road trip I would definitely recommend the Black Rose!
Don’t come here expecting to be able to actually BUY the products! I drove over an hour to check this place out...after realizing almost every toy and collectible is priced at its highest price ever sold or more, and there are no good deals to be had, I had settled on a couple smaller items as to not go all the way back empty handed. The not-so-capable employee then breaks it to me that she can’t even find the right key to open the case so I can’t buy anything! Does she really think I’m gonna drive 90 minutes each way again to come back here or tell any of my friends to come here?? This is not a good place for anyone looking for a fair deal, any kind of bargains or for vendors looking for sellable items. But if you don’t mind paying incompetent people for items with an appalling markup, this may be the place for you!
This venue is huge and could easily take you a few hours to see every thing. They have individual vendor booths. Youll find furniture, jewelry, household, records, clothing...everything. The only down side, it was too hot in there. Felt like the air conditioning wasnt working
Wow. Its almost guaranteed that you will find something here. Might take a while, but its there. Some of the prices are a bit high, so ask if its negotiable. I wandered around for an hour before I spied a Nippon trinket box, of which I collect. Bought it. Great place.
I love seeing items I grew up with... sometimes I see items that were a part of my great aunts China cabinet... walking through there also inspires me to be more creative.
Antique and vintage super store. A fun and interesting adventure every time. Varying price ranges -so theres something for everyone, and sales are common.
Always good things to find, you have to work for it. Antiques from turn of the century beyond mid-century modern. All different vendors, some of which are great and some not as much. Lots of items regularly on sale, too.

You could spend a whole day there and still not see it all. Primitive to Eurpean, mid-century modern, vintage to antique. A wonderful eclectic mix of everything. The employees were great and in one instance fun too? Ill b e sure to go back routinely

For a mall setting, its great, and considering the rest of the mall has died its like a little oasis. My only crit is that they partly reused the old floor plan from the old JC penny store, which can get a little confusing for shoppers. You get lost. And some of the locked cases are pretty far away from the customer counter, so if you want to see something its a little inconvenient, especially when its busy. The selection is nice, and its great to have a place to shop inside out of the weather. Most of the antique stores in this area do not have heat or AC.
The shop itself is wonderful, unfortunately the cashier was complaining to the manager about the customers as I walked in. She said that only 1 out of 10 actually buy and the ones that do dont want to pay the asking price. She was frustrated that people wanted to browse. This struck me as odd since it is an antique shop and people are usually looking for very specific items and to get through the store, it takes time, so we tend to browse. We had this same cashier when we were purchasing our items and she said that the pottery we were buying came a company that was horrible to their employees. The company no longer makes pottery and we were buying from a re-seller so you would think she would not discourage our purchase, but she made us feel bad about it and we walked out upset and discouraged. If I go back, I will avoid this particular check out person/counter.
Used to love the items in this store, but honestly its overpeiced junk! The owner of the stores racist wife pretended she was a shopper and followed us everywhere, because we were hispanic. She gave my daughter dirty looks and started talking loudly about how kids shouldnt come in her store. She also stated she hates when people with no money come in the store.
Vintage. Memorabilia. Many vendors in one locale. Worth the trip. 30min before closing, requests to unlock a display case ceases so they can tend to closing duties. In three months time I have found many of the booths with essentially the same items. Product isnt moving, but this might be normal for vintage and antique retail? Come with time to spare.
I love my visits. I hope they stay in NJ. The other 2 locations are to far.
I loved it when it was in Allentown, Pa, but this is terrible now. I spent 5 hours in thus place. There is absolutely NO logical layout to the store. There are also no arrows pointing you toward the mall entrance or parking lot entrance. The map is useless.. I like to see everything, but this place is a maze. A lot of EMPTY spaces, seems like it will be going out of business soon. Move back to PA and have a grid layout like you did before. It would save your business. Bon-Ton in the South Mall is NOW vacant, cone back here.
Items for sale move pretty quickly through the independent sellers here at Black Rose. They moved a few years ago from their location in Allentown to this mall.This is a good place to find American folk art from New Jersey artists. Pyrex Corningware is also very well represented.

Confusing and overwhelming layout but great items and a huge store! Lots of amazing antiques. This trip had many down sides though.... First off is how much of a maze this place feels like, and also the staff was very slow at checking people out. We waited in line for over AN HOUR! That’s absurd! The staff kept making mistakes checking people out or starting up conversation with people rather than try to speed the line up. Even when we finally got to the front of the line and waiting an hour for only 6 people to check out in front of us, the gentleman that was checking us out was going very slow and kept asking us questions about the items and trying to count and total up the items correctly but he kept messing up. Even after paying, it took him 5 minutes to get the receipt to us...Also, 30 mins before closing they refuse to open cases anymore which was kind of disappointing. Very frustrating experience, especially with checking out(or attempting to).... I like this place and it’s so big and has amazing stuff but the confusion and insane slowness of trying to check out was very frustrating. Nobody should have to wait over an hour to checkout with only 6 people in front of them. I most likely will not come back after driving an hour to come here for the first time and my experience with checking out being insane. Not worth it.

To be honest I was a dealer there and theft was to me was treated with a grain of salt was told it was the cost of doing business. And an employee said stuff gets stolen all the time. Lost expensive pieces if someone switch tags checkout person only looked at tag never read the package to match up items they truly dont care. They complained to customers about locked showcases or never opened them I had numerous calls about poor service. I believe they need a shake up or at least new employees. My suggestion is to have vendors work the store 4 hours each per day and get credit towards there rent and eliminate employees except for Management to handle the registers.

Fantastic collection of antique items, think indoor flea market meets department store. This is not someones collection of dirty dishware and unwound VHS tapes but a whimsical array of vintage items, a great place to get lost in if you need an idea for a day trip.
They had a lot of nice and decent prices stuff. We didnt buy anything just went on to check it out. However I do not believe this store is still open last time we went up the doors were closed and the sign was taken down

WOW!! I am a veteran of many antique stores, and this one is outstanding! You can easily get lost looking through all the merchandise. Also, the store is very complicated and needs to be arranged in aisles.
