One of the best shops in Phoenix that focuses on table top gaming like MTG, Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon Cards. They also have a wide selection of board games and a demo section that you can try out some of the board games before you buy. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly!

This is my go to store for Magic the Gathering. The community there is super friendly which is important for a store. The store owner is super nice and does what he can for the in store community. If you ever need help or want to learn about games the employees are very knowledgeable and will assist you. Not to mention that the store is also the only Wizards of the Coast Premium store in the valley which is due to the dedication and hard work put in for the store community.

Excellent store. Became my second home here in PHX after moving here from across the country. Owner is really nice, accommodating, and goes out of his way to make a fun, safe, welcoming space for both old and new players. Good selection of MTG cards and sealed product, an entire wall of board games in stock, and a huge space for in store game play. Definitely check it out whether you’re new to Phoenix, lived here for years, if you’re looking for a local game store to get into the community, or looking for a better shop to call your gaming home. It’s absolutely worth a visit.

Phoenix gaming lounge is a great place for magic players new and experienced alike. They will take the time to make sure you understand how the game works and they arent just trying to upsell you. They thoroughly want everyone to enjoy the game and create a safe environment for everyone. I cant recommend it enough.

The Phoenix Gaming Lounge is an amazing store. The staff and owner are so nice and friendly. I only come in every once in a while but they remember me. To be honest without a store like them I likely wouldnt still be playing Magic the Gathering but the owner always sets a fair price for his products. I have never left feeling like I didnt get a great deal. I havent had any negative interactions and find the space welcoming and inclusive! Please if you live anywhere near this store be sure to stop and see what theyre about. I love PGL!

They try to lowball you on prices like extremely. Then have cards for sale that are drastically overpriced. Better to go to other card shops or online

Absolutely love this store! Everyone is super friendly and welcoming. They made sure to keep up online posting on Facebook and a discord server during quarantine for awesome deals in general and FNM for MTG. Theres a pretty awesome selection of MTG singles, sealed products, accessories (card boxes, storage, playmats, dice, etc.), as well as some Pokemon stuff, other board games, and DND stuff, too. They definitely go above and beyond to create a sense of community and to put customers first. Its our go-to place for MTG.

Ive been going to Phoenix Gaming Lounge since shortly after opening on Thomas Rd and was excited to join them at their new location on Central Ave. I have been a dedicated and loyal patron of this establishment and sadly, after so long am moving away. Josh and his crew are amazing people, dedicated to the gaming industry. They are very knowledgeable about Magic: the Gathering and have a good inventory of MtG singles as well as a multitude of sealed product for the Pokemon TCG, board games, card games, dice, and other MtG associated products. I will miss spending Friday nights slinging spells with everyone and can only hope I find a store so accommodating as Phoenix Gaming Lounge. Good Luck, Josh! May the Force be with You!

The guys running this place exploited me for being autistic and I would not recommend this doing business with them.

Came in on a whim to see if I could snag any pokemon cards before my flight back home. Theres tons supplies for Magic, Pokemon, DnD, various other table tops games and apparently soon to be some Yu Gi Oh.The owner was super friendly and helped me downsize a lot of the bulk from my cards into some sleeves and a spare deck box he had lying around. Would definitely recommend that anyone in the area stops in to take a look for your gaming needs.

They had the game expansion I wanted, they were super nice and the service over the phone was exceptional.

Incredible selection of MtG singles. Shopped around all day to find playsets of what I wanted and this was the only one with a healthy stock in the entire Phoenix area.

This place is the best. I came here as a newbie to try to learn more about Magic and play more often. Everyone is super accepting and helpful for new players. I recently made a deck list and emailed it. They were able to work with me on getting what I needed for a fair price. I had a couple requests that required a bit extra work and they didn’t charge me extra even though I offered to pay more. Phoenix Gaming Lounge is a place that truly knows how to do business and there’s nowhere else I’d rather shop and play Magic!

They lied to me about being open for shopping and selling my games to them. I showed up the doors were chained and locked. I call when I got home and they then told me no one was allowed in the store to shop. I will never step foot in there again. They dont deserve a single star for lying I only give it because its required to post.

Phoenix Gaming Lounge and owner Joshua Ogle hosted a fundraiser which raised $300 for our robotics team! This will help us cover our competition costs this season. The owner and all of the players are great people who really care about doing the right thing and supporting the community.

Traveled 2 hours to come here because there thing says they are open. They supposedly supposed to open at 2pm. Been standing out in the heat watching folks go in then they lock the door. Waited an hour still not open. They also don’t answer the phone as I tried several times to call as I know their are people in there.

Only place we found for Pokemon cards since allot of stores stopped carrying them.

The magic the gathering selection is almost unrivaled in the valley. However, it would be very beneficial for the rest of the community to feel included in other card games such as Yu-Gi-Oh or even vanguard.

I called this location to ask for the Mystery Booster boxes and they said they would be in Friday around 2.We were told we were not allowed to reserve said boxes as well, so we planned on coming early to get them as soon as the store got the shipment.I come at 1:30 on Friday and see a male walk in and the walk out with this exact box.We walk in and ask the male working if we could purchase said box and he said they did not have them in yet, but they should get this around 2.We went back out to our car and sat there until 2:30.Around 2 the same male worker walked out of the store and around the corner, then walked back into the store, seeing us outside.When we walked in at 2:30, the worker said I just checked the messages and it looks like we got them in yesterday and sold out.We asked when he would be getting more in and he said they shouldnt for another two weeks the soonest. On the Facebook page, it said yesterday (Thursday) that they would be getting more in soon.He apologized and we left.Wasted about an hour of our time, not including driving, and somewhere along the line that man lied to us, not sure if it was about the supply he has or when they sold out, but this is poor management and unfair service. Will not be coming back and I dont recommend trusting the store for their word.

Great selection of MtG and DnD. Pathfinder selection was tiny to almost non-existent.

Very friendly staff as well as knowledgeable. great selection of board games and other card games and they have demo games you can play. They also carry DnD books and have plenty of dice. They have plenty of table space for groups to play. Have a great selection of magic the gathering card singles as well and several events to play through the week.

Best place for fnm

I placed an online order with this place. It didnt ship for several days and when they finally contacted me, it was about a mistake in their inventory and they didnt actually have my order in stock. Normally this would be fine by the cost of my order had increased by over 25% during this wasted time. I suspect they may have held onto the parts of my order than were rising, wanting to sell them for a higher price to someone else. If if this isnt true their poor inventory practices cost me money the first time I ever shopped with them. I will not be doing so again.

A fantastic store and truly one of the best in the entire valley for magic. Josh is an amazing owner who will always help you out and talk to you. Very friendly and accepting atmosphere as well. If you are in the central Phoenix area and looking for somewhere to play or buy/sell magic stuff this is definitely somewhere you should check out.

This place is awesome. They have great prices on a lot of great games. My special lady and I visit frequently to play commander in their spacious table area. Highly recommend.

In my opinion there is always room for improvement. Here, the owner took extra steps to relocate due to the previous location was not big enough for the amount of participants who enjoy gaming (board games & trading cards).The place is welcoming anyone there is willing to help if you ask for assistance. The staff is quite resourceful, and the owner takes extra steps to ensure participants are enjoying themselves. They welcome constructive input that will improve the space for everyone, gamers in particular. Its clean, its quiet, plenty of sitting and table spaces. This place deserves its max 🌟 rating.

PGL is the best shop in the downtown/uptown Phoenix area for Magic the Gathering. However, if you dont play Magic the Gathering, know that the shop will charge you ($5 each person, no exceptions) to use their table space. I find that this practice is a bit uninviting and makes them seem a bit hungry for cash. Im going to buy board games from the shop anyway, so why do they want to charge 5 of my friends $5 to play a board game for 2 hours at a table with me? I had purchased dozens of board games totaling more than $500 from them over the previous months...Additionally, some other experiences with the shop are:Josh (one of the owners) low-balled me with a $1000 offer (which was the best he could do) on a collection of cards that was worth around $4500 retail (I had priced it out and sent it to him). I took my collection elsewhere and got $2025 for it. Another time, I ordered a board game from the shop during a holiday sale they had last year, and Josh told me it would be in within a week. Josh called me about 3 weeks later, after Christmas (the board game was supposed to be a gift for my brother), after the sale had ended, to let me know I could come in and get my board game. I didnt go in and get it.Overall, I find their business uninviting and unprofessional and I recommend going to many of the other board game shops in town (like Samurai) for your board game needs, and your card collections elsewhere (like Play N Trade). Samurai lets customers use their space for games and doesnt pressure you to pay for the space nor spend money in the store (though I do so anyway). Play N Trade offers much better prices for card collections.

I came in to play DnD with a group of my friends. We were going to meet at 2 right when they opened so we could get plenty of play in before we remembered our responsibilities and called it a day. They didnt actually get here, and open till 2:30. Meanwhile there were a solid number of people waiting outside. Once we got in, they were not actually very clean. A number of tables are dirty with random dice over tables, and empty bottles. The floor is littered with wrappers, tags, and general dirt. They did clean up a little after they got settled from being late, but Id think thats something that would happen before closing.

The staff were super friendly and showed us the basics of their most played game! I had a great time here and will definitely be back!

Is a nice place ALOT of room for play. Singles case was stocked pretty good. Staff was friendly and was willing to talk about pricing for condition of the cards.

Great game store! I went to a Magic prerelease with over 100 people. The owners stressed sportsmanship and it certainly showed, players of all experience levels helped each other and played together.

I play magic so this will be biased towards the magic side of things but regardless this is the best store I have been to play and buy magic. The staff and community are friendly and helpful, prize support is good, and the prices are always fair or better. Also despite the store being focused towards magic the owner is knowledgeable about all the product in the store, especially the board and tabletop games.Finally the bathroom. I know that anyone who has gone to a collectible store and had to use the bathroom has fully repressed the memory out of visceral fear and primal survival instinct. But rest assured, the bathroom at Phoenix Gaming Lounge is worth five stars on its own.

Joshua was super helpful, took time to answer our questions and explain rule systems. This is a fun, welcoming place, with plenty of room to set up any kind of game.

The community at Phoenix Gaming Lounge is absolutely fantastic. If there are 8 people hanging out, you are basically guaranteed a draft firing. If you are new to Magic or returning after a couple of years you will find a supportive and hilarious group of people to get your nerd on.
