This review is not related to the staff at Phoenix but aimed at RocklerRockler is a great business but is let down by some poor products. In particular, pen blanks that explode when drilling (same style of blank only) and more frustrating for me is the router bit and set up jig that clearly has different tolerances to the instructions printed on the Rockler instruction sheet. Instructions call for 3/8 set up and the jig has a different measurement. Which one is correct? I have used a great deal of Grenadillo wood working through different solutions but so far I cannot find one. The final joint is loose. I cannot get it to close any despite trying around 20 different set ups.
Picked up a new planner. Staff very helpful. In truth went to Rockler because they were the only ones including the stand, a $179 value but I am a regular there as they have great selection.
Everyone I encountered were knowledgeable in their products. Extremely happy with my Laguna F1. Made my first cross cut and the miter gauge is stable and smooth. Thanks in part to the advice I received from the salesman. The mobile base that was recommended was of high quality and exactly what I need for my shop. So smooth my 5 year old daughter can move it. It was my first trip due to living in Maricopa, but any time I find myself that far north I will be stopping by, even if to simply drool over the router bits 🥁
Came in and they were super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The quality of my purchase was top notch… lots of fun products in the store and rumor is that wood working classes are going to start up again! Stop by if you get the chance
Everyone at Rockler in Phoenix were great. They helped me find the correct product I needed and even carried the large box to my truck. I would recommend them to everyone.
This place is a woodworker’s hub of materials and advice. They have an incredible array of every kind of tool, including the supplies to make your own - truly the tools of the trade to create professional results (even for an amateur). The store is staffed by friendly experts who can help figure out the creative solution to a tricky problem the way only a true woodworker can. The store manager, John Gilchrist, is particularly helpful and encouraging, even with the trickiest problems! They hold regular classes and demonstrations that can make you familiar enough with tools to be comfortable using them at home - and provide you with a terrific item that you made with your own hands. Ive attended two already - and Im far les afraid of my router as a result. They even have hours on Sundays, so I can forget something during a weekend project and still go pick it up.When I first developed an interest in woodworking, my brother-in-law, who is a master craftsman, said: Have you been to Rockler? Youre gonna LOVE Rockler! And he was absolutely right!
I needed some hardwood for a couple projects and I found exactly what I needed. The prices were reasonable considering the price of wood. The store manager even asked if we needed any of the wood cut down to fit in a vehicle. It was pouring rain out so it worked out great to have the hardwood cut in half so it would fit under my tonneau cover.Overall great customer service and good prices.
Great service and friendly staff. A little to pricey for my blood though.
Clean store, very helpful staff, and lots of great looking lumber for a variety of uses.
Needed a new circular saw and I seen videos of the Makita plunge saw, I bought it and I’m extremely happy with it and also the salesperson (Dennis) that helped me with my purchase……
Have shopped at Rocklers for years. Very satisfied with the products offered and the high quality of everything. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful as well.
Very friendlyI could spend hours in there, and lots of money
Ive been coming to rockler woodworking on Thunderbird off and on for the last 10 years. The gentleman that work here are very knowledgeable and very professional. Every time Ive come here with a question Ive gotten a very good answer or three very good answers. If you need wood cut for a project these guys will do it for you. If you have questions about staining these guys have the answers. I will continue to be a very loyal customer as long as I am in need of woodworking assistance. Thank you John and your crew, you guys are great!!!
Clean store and excellent customer service!!! Very willing to help with your shopping, excellent selection.
Great experience with fantastic suggestions to solve my problem and terrific suggestions!
Impressed with the utstanding service and friendly employees! Thank you!
Always an awesome experience. Great job all! 😀
A wood store with a bathroom! Pretty ideal since my partner always wants to “just look at one more thing…”
The staff at the Rockler - Phoenix Store are knowledgeable, and always ready to assist. The selection of products is excellent.
I didnt want to leave this review. Im new to wood working and when I research how to do something-- some blog or YouTube usually recommends Rockler products. So I figured Id visit the store to purchase a new track saw. This was a mistake. The person who originally helped me ended up being the store manager. He was rude and incredibly pushy to buy the Rockler warranty. I noticed it had looked like the box had been opened and asked if they had another that was sealed. I saw him go into the back and assumed he grabbed one that was sealed. I should have checked because when I got home, it was clear the saw had been used and cleaned off (not very thoroughly). I researched who the store manager was and found out it was actually the guy who helped me. At this point, I knew returning it would most likely be a pain so I reached out to reviews@rockler (based on another poor review here) and was contacted by the district manager who told me all the wonderful things about John and made me feel like I was the problem. And hey, maybe I am?They offered to ship a new saw to the store and Id have to go back and and return the used one. I guess I maybe expected too much? Ideally, just ship it to my house and Ill send back the other one. If needed put a hold on my credit card for the cost. This is what any customer centric company does these days.Id also recommend you take a look at Rocklers Trust Pilot score. I should have done that in the first place. Its much more accurate of my experience vs the reviews here.
It so cool, when Im needing something quickly, they have it!
Staff is always friendly and helpful if you have any questions or need help with anything.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
As excited as I was the first time I walked into through door, ready to buy what I needed to start my woodworking journey, I was quickly disappointed by the customer service in this store. There is nothing that can crush an experience more quickly than sub-par and inconsiderate customer service. Three times I have been into this store, and each time I have walked away with disappointment. Not because of the lack of inventory, but for the way the employees make their patrons feel. Spoken by so many great leaders is the following, People may not remember what you say, but they sure will remember how you make them feel.In a world where buying everything online is the norm, people will often travel to brick and mortar stores for what they cannot get through an online purchase; expertise and a quality experience - this store provided none of those. While I can detail the lack of knowledge the employees appeared to possess, the most significant detriment to this store is their ability to treat other people as they should.I rated this store two stars for its customer service and its consistency in performance.I genuinely hope someone at Rockler takes note and addresses the issues here.
Very helpful and friendly. Theyre a little pricey, but they have good quality stuff, and some of their jigs and dust collection fittings are the best for the money.
I love this place! Open on the weekends. They have had what I needed every time I come in. Highly recommended!
Dennis was awesome!! Knew exactly what I wanted and even though the store was out of stock, made it so easy for home delivery! Will continue to drive from Chandler just for your excellent customer service
I was met at the door with a good morning. A helpful gentleman helped me go thru my list and I was out the door in 15 minutes and very happy.
My salesman name was John. He was very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.
Great selection and very helpful employees.
This place is amazing. The staff is super helpful and friendly. They carry way more tools than you would think. I had been looking for some precision machine tools that I thought I could find at autopart stores, but I checked 5 different auto part store chains and no one had them. I tried hardware stores and they didnt either. But I found it at Rocklers. They do have shortened hours currently, and I was not aware of that until I pulled up literally right after they closed, but they opened the door and let me get what I needed. I would definitely return.
Helpful staff, try to have educated your self before going to store they will be able to help you much faster.
I love Rockler. The things there can be really pricey. You really pay for the premium unfortunately. Otherwise great place.
Found the exact Rockler jig that I was looking for.
Helpful staff.
The class was great and (old) Dave was awesome!
I was at my wits end, ready to give up on my project, I googled Rockler Woodworkers ! Walked in and John was ready to help ! Not having exactly what I needed, John made it special for me !! It worked perfect John ! You Rock! Thank you so much !! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A wood workers dream!
Favorite place for woodworking but, its to far to drive.
My favorite store for wood working supplies. Nice and friendly staff. Knowledgeable and helpful
I cannot walk out without sending $150. I love it.
Well I am the manager of the store, so I may be biased, but we get compliments every day from our guests on what a great store we have. We try our best to encourage and provide advice on whatever project our guests are working on. We have a great team of experienced woodworkers and can help with almost any project. Come see us.
I went in looking for gel stain and the assistant manager, Dean was extremely helpful. I highly recommend this store. He was very patient in explaining how to use the product even though I came in close to closing time. You just dont see service like that anymore. I was very impressed.
Rockler has become my woodworking store of choice since our move away from Phoenix. i find myself making a stopover at Rockler every time I get back to Phoenix. Their sales are addicting! Their products are sound and well thought out. :=)
Everyone is always so helpful
Always very friendly and helpful!
Chuck was very friendly and helpful in finding what i needed to repair a cabinet door. If its not the right hinge, i can return it...hopefully its the right one 😀
The crew at Rockler has always been great to work with. Whenever we need something for our shop we rely on Rockler to help us out. Every woodworker should pay them a visit.
Very helpful staff and lots of products for turning.
I always get great customer service at Rockers, which I greatly appreciate as Im not the handiest at fixing stuff.
Unique woods and specialty woodworking stuff here. The people who work here and shop here are passionate about wood. Theyre happy to debate the very best way to finish something for ages. Or theyll give you some quick advice and help you check out.
I wanted to find an alternative to Woodworkers Source so I stopped in to take a look around and I was impressed. I found more than I was even looking for and was even more surprised at the prices as they are competitive to what I would expect from any major hardware store. If your looking to build a furniture piece, cabinets or home decor pieces or just need some ideas it is worth your time to stop by.
Good store, wish that they had one on the west side.
This place is a joke you try to order from them they tell you its a specific dimension after you order they inform you that the dimensions are off slightly possibly twisted and possible knots in the material they do not care about the customer all they care about is making a buck I highly recommend using someone else their customer service at their corporate office is a joke as well they are no help and basically say they will send you whatever they send you no assurances on quality assurance
Great products and customer service. Love going in and asking questions. Very knowledgeable staff. Store is always very busy...good sign!
Great staff. Always friendly and helpful.
If you are into any type of woodworking or cabinetry making Rockler is the place to go for that specialty jig or tool. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful
Food pricing and great selection, with a friendly and helpful staff!
The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the products they sell. I would highly recommend to stop by and visit the store if you are in the Phoenix area.
The people there are knowledgeable and friendly.
I love shopping here. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful, plus they spent extra time teaching me how to make things
Helpful staff with excellent experience and knowledge to provide solid advice.
Always a great experience at this Rockler store! The staff is excellent!
I love coming in here! They always have what I need and more. They get pissed at the card machines for you so you dont have to! You had to be there.
I spent the last 3 days trying to find replacement hinges for my 20-year-old oak cabinets. I was sent on a wild goose chase all over town. Went to 3 different Home Depots (they all have varying inventory) and 2 Ace Hardware stores (they are independently owned, so they have varying inventory) and 5 different hardware experts gave me wrong advice. So I Googled my actual problem and up popped Rocklers website. And there, pictured, were the hinges I needed! And, oddly enough, they are located 5 minutes away! I called and John, who was wonderful, said they were in stock. He even pulled them off the shelf so that no one could buy them before I arrived. I had passed the store a thousand times, but never paid any attention to it. I was pleasantly shocked when I opened the door and saw that It is a candy store for home improvement needs as well as for woodworkers! Their inventory is impressive and the sales people are friendly and knowledgeable. Im surprised that those other experts at Home Depot and Ace didnt mention Rockler when it was obvious I couldnt find what I needed. The REAL experts work at Rockler. Dont waste your time shopping anywhere else!
They are always there to help, have questions or need some professional help the Rockler team headed by John Gilcrest will get the answers you need
They had the hardware I needed to finish the project I was working on.
My first time in and I couldnt have felt more comfortable. Im not an expert and the assistant manager treated me with nothing but respect. Literally helped me find everything in the store. Got me signed up for upcoming sale, and email ads. I will be going back again, for sure.
Very helpful and interesting
Overall, I keep coming back. I am a new woodworker. My experience is that most of the employees are helpful (there is at least one I steer clear of - no John, its not you) and I can trust them to give good recommendations without trying to upsell me. Ill call and ask them to put up a few items at the register for me, so I dont have to hunt for them. I know several by name offhand (Gary, Dean, Chuck, Frank, Dennis) and they know me as well. They take the time to figure out what I am trying to accomplish and help me with it. I was explaining to Dean about trying to drill a rather large hole in the end grain of a 4x4 and he encouraged me to increase the drill press speed, which helped. I had been following the chart and wouldnt have thought to try that, because Im scared, of everything.I took the intro Bandsaw and Router classes there. Frank, who taught the router class was exceptionally good and most of the time was hands-on, which I appreciated. There were only 3-4 people in each class, which was nice. Actually getting to use their router table with the Incra lift convinced me to get them instead of trying to make something, which at this point in my woodworking career will take me forever and not be as good.I gave 4/5 because there were a few negative experiences that arent worth going into detail on and probably wont happen to you. It did take them at least 4 times for them to input info into my computer so my info stuck, but its finally working. Definitely advise letting them track your purchases b/c I just got a special coupon in the mail. Or maybe everyone got it, and I thought I was special - it was good to because theres an item I havent seen on sale and its not excluded. Ive also recd a nice coupon via email, to get a free little trinket with purchase.
Very helpful staff.
Great place. Helpful employees and they have free classes on Saturday mornings.
I love this place. Everybody out here that wrote a bad review is crazy. All of the people that work here are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. If you come here to look for something you can get at Home Depot or Ace Hardware youre at the wrong place. Be careful about striking up a conversation about finishes wood grain or tools because you might have a long debate on your hands. I am here almost every day sometimes just to chat with the guys. Plus their weekly classes are instructed buy some of the top names in the industry.
Without Rockler you couldnt do a lot of projects. They have the tools, materials and knowledge no one else has.
I asked about classes for someone who does not know anything about woodworking. After speaking with Dave I will now take a class and I feel I can complete turning a bowl. I am quite excited about trying this new venture.
Helpful friendly staff! They have everything you need. Wonderful classes and demos.
I totally love this store. My husband has trouble getting me out of it and the sales people think he is the luckiest man in the world. It doesnt matter what your skill level is, the sales people are very helpful and friendly.
I love this place
The coolest tool and trim shop I have ever seen, like Bob Villas personal garage! Had the only jig in PHX for my job.
I have been to this store a lot and they always have what I need and they are very helpful
Staff is always helpful and courteous. Store is always clean and well organized.
A good place for wood turning blanks and all the fun with it.
Great assortment of wood working tools and products. Also very helpful staff
Polite but very unhelpful and lacking customer service. I was put on hold twice so they could help other customers then told I needed to call back because they were too busy to help me. Keep in mind the people who they were putting me on hold to help hadnt been waiting for help - they had just walked up to the counter.
Drive out of my way to come to this store for missing parts from a Rockler pencil kit. 2 different employees walked right past me and didnt even break stride when I tried to ask for their help. Another employee, Ron, basically had to walk around my son and I and even when I tried to stop him, he seemed put off. I explained to him what I needed and he said, What we have is on the shelves and walked off. Horrible customer service and Ill be hard pressed to ever come here or use anything from Rockler in the future.
Great place for woodworkers.friendly knowledgeable staff very helpful
Nice selection . Helpful staff
Knowledgable & friendly staff and they sell superior stains & products
I love my first week, everybody is SO NICE !!!
Best customer service every time I go.
Very friendly staff. The store is smaller than other Rocklers I have been to. The store in Orlando, FL had everything. This store is a bit limited at times.
Sales people are extremely unpleasant to deal with. They are not friendly at all and act as though you are bothering them when asking questions.
Excellent store for quality woodworking supplies.
Everyone here is super nice and friendly.
Great service.
Knowledgeable and helpful staff.
The staff is very helpful and friendly.
