Can’t rate this high enough. Needed an emissions test for my car, they were one of the only places open on a Saturday, and they were able to get me in and out in a few hours. I was very satisfied and really enjoyed talking to the employees.

I needed a new starter for my car and Kal had it fixed within a day! The price for the repair was quite affordable and much less then I anticipated it being. We had a great conversation about school and he gave me some great life advice as well. Would highly reccommend this business to anyone!

Kalven is a fascinating and smart mechanical engineer with a passion for cars. I overheard him tell a customer that their car was fine and so he didn’t want to charge them for random tuneups. A level of honesty that can be tough to find, particularly in an industry where there’s often great information asymmetry between customers and professionals. He also took the time to explain some basics to me, a newer car owner.I’ll be coming back here.

This place was excellent! They helped me out on short notice (and under time constraints!) and were fairly priced. Kind and professional. I literally drove to Boston the very next day in a 15+ year old car without issue, so I trust their work! Will be back again for sure.

I called on a Saturday morning on behalf of my college student niece, who was going to be traveling home for spring break the next day. Her check engine light came on. Kal was gracious enough to fit her in to assess the car. He called me to explain what the issue was, the needed repair and what repairs would be needed in the future (instead of telling us it needed to be done now). I highly recommend Pitts Stop Auto!

As a young female, it is very hard for me to get a reasonable price at any mechanic because most of them try to charge me as much as they want. Kal didnt do that to me and gave me a really great price for the work my car needed. Him and his employees are really nice and knowing that I have someone in Pittsburgh that I can trust to take care of my car is amazing. Take your car to Kal. He actually knows about cars and he will take care of it.I went to 3 different auto chains for a simple oil change only to get told that they don’t have the filter or don’t service diesel cars...I know I have one of the rarer models but they couldn’t even offer to order it for me.Called Kal the day before and he did the oil change the next day. I brought my own filter to save him the hassle and he was happy to do it.Excellent expérience overall. As long as I’m staying Pittsburgh, I’ll keep coming here for service or repair.

Pitts Stop Auto was great especially. The mechanic is honest, professional and fair. I have had other mechanics overcharge me because I did not know much about the price and labor to fix my car. Pitts Stop always showed me the price of my parts as well as showing me comparisons so I have options on where I would like to purchase. Five stars and very highly recommended.

Truer words were never spoken! In an age of hacks, Kalven knows your vehicle inside and out. He and his folks got right on it and in an unbelievably short time turned around the repairs for half the price.DO NOT GO ANYWHERE ELSE FOR YOUR CAR REPAIRS - you might as well just drive your car into the river. Great experience all around. I moved to PGH recently, sadly leaving the mechanic my family had been going to for years behind. I dont know the first thing about finding a mechanic on my own, and most of my friends here dont drive, so when my very old car started having issues, I had no idea where to go. I checked the google reviews on Pitts Stop and they were all extremely positive-- and I agree! The whole process was very expedient and affordable. And not only did he fix my issue, but he also gave me tips to prevent having the same problem in the future. I appreciate his honesty, because Im not the most mechanically inclined person in the world and because of that, Im always worried about getting conned since I dont know a ton..... Luckily, I was able to avoid my fears and also get my car back in ship shape. Will definitely go back for future maintenance.

I am from out of town and needed an oil change. I tried 4 different places in the area that wanted to make appointments 1-2 weeks in the future. I called Pitt Stop because I like the pun of the name. Owner made me an appointment same day. I was in and out in less than an hour. Owner was very friendly. Employees had masks on and there was hand sanitizer waiting area. Don’t let the appearance of this place fool you, they took great care of me and my car. And it was the cheapest out of all the places I called!

They’re very nice here; the mechanic actually explained to me what was wrong with my car/how to go about it in the future — at most places i’m treated rudely only because I’m a woman with very little car knowledge. I dropped off my car 30 min before they closed and it was ready at 9am the next morning :) I will definitely be returning and I highly recommend this place.

Excellent service and extreme patience exercised by the owner towards me. (Im as dumb as a doorknob when it comes to certain aspects of my car.) Also, its refreshing to have an honest business owner in the car repair business whos not trying to rip you off.

Kalven only started his business in 2018 yet has received overwhelmingly positive reviews. On top of doing repairs for a reasonable price, he also identified several other problems that might befall my car in the future. He warned that the water pump and the front tires in my car might need replacement soon, but did not pressure me into doing that right away.

Kal and his body shop partner delivered excellent service and superb prices! He gave several options of how to fix the issues and let me choose. The car is good as new and he quickly took care of any complaints I had after the work was done. He also offered suggestions and estimates for other things that could be improved. Im from out of town. My land rover was on the tow truck and I was begging the tow guy for the guy to take it to and not the dealership. He told me Kelven was the way to go. He was right. This auto shop is amazing. Best experience Ive ever had doing car repairs / inspections.Kalven is awesome! Right when I came, he already knew the issue with my car. He walked me through what was wrong and what part was needed to fix my car for inspection. He quoted a price for the part, installation, inspection, and an oil change. And everything was done by the end of the day and a very reasonable price!!Kalven seemed to be happy for me that the car was running so well after the fix.This place will be my goto mechanic for any car related things I need in the future.
