Great shop to do business with, great prices on transfers too!
Today I was helped out by two super nice ladies that assisted me in trading in my HK for a wonderfully kept used S&W6906. Price was fair for the trade-in and for the used Smith. 5 stars.
Even when its elbow to elbow they help you and always nice
Wonderful experience here. Even though it was busy, the employees at the counter made sure to greet me. They worked quickly and efficiently. When it was my turn to be helped, they answered any questions I had and were super knowledgeable. I absolutely cannot recommend enough. 5 stars, will definitely be returning!
Always a pleasure to deal with. Fantastic employees. Best place around.
Great people, lots of guns, fishing bait, good local store.
Good service
Very good fast friendly service, Once I picked the gun I wanted, sale was completely done under 5 minutes. And gave me 100 rounds of 22LR free. Great place family operated, grandfather and granddaughter behind the counter. If you dont see what you want just ask they have more than out on display. I will be buying more firearms from them for sure. Great place. 👍👍
Been doing business with Wyne for over 35 years now. Couldnt be happier with the service and products. The prices are more than fair as well. Thank you for all your help Island Firearms
Great prices, and staff was extremely friendly. Selection was great, will return.
Went in for the first time today. The staff there were very friendly and helpful. Great prices on their products. Would definitely recommend.
Great prices on firearms, ammo and accessories. Also the best price for gun transfers. Awesome variety of pistols, rifles, shotguns and various other weapons.
Small, mom and pop hunting & fishing store. Wayne is a great guy, and has a knowledgeable staff. Gun transfers done quick and his prices are very reasonable. Store is very small...complete 180 from the big box stores. But theyre hearts are a big as those other places.
Supper high prices. And the owner told me he doesnt support polomyer 80 and thinks they shouldnt sell them because people dont need to build guns.So if you like to build or customize, and support the 2nd amendment this isnt the place for you.
I purchased a gun from a private party and did the FFL transfer there. It was pretty textbook and both the guy and gal there at that time chatted and were in general terms, friendly. I appreciated the service and bought some items while there. The place is as mom and pop as it gets which is kind of cool in my opinion. I see it as a solid store with plenty of history on the island.
I have been dealing with Wayne for the last 2 years & made A LOT of transactions / purchases through & from him and i will say that I dont have a single complaint. Very knowledgeable with every dam gun you can think of & treats everyone like family. Doesnt hurt that he also takes very good care of us LEOs. I wouldnt hesitate to send anyone there knowing he would take care of them & hes honest enough to tell you where to get things cheaper if he isnt the cheapest on something.
Wayne the owner has known my family for a long time ever since my dad was a kid. Always helping out anyone who stepped in his store and joking around. I believe his daughter now runs the place since he retired.
Good people down here. Every Glock Ive ever purchased has been through Island firearms. On top of the outstanding customer service they also have alot of fun stuff to check out.
Way to quote people $20 over phone FFL transfer and then lie through your teeth for $40 in person. Also could have done without the young womans attitude . Wont be coming back
Very friendly and knowledgeable.
First time in. Awesome store reminds me of an old time gun store. Great staff very friendly and tons of firearms.
THIEF! I sold some ammo to this guy. He put my 2 ammo boxes that I carried the ammo into the store in behind the counter, which was not part of the sale. I walked out and went to my car. I remembered my boxes at this point. I went back up to the door and he has a sign saying hes at 7-11 be back in 15 minutes. 7-11 is 100 yards away so I walk up to the store and hes not there. I go back to my car and call his business line and left a message and waited 20 more minutes. I had to get home because I was leaving town for 4 days and left a message on his machine telling him I will pick the boxes up when I get back. I called him today and he informed me he had sold my boxes and their was nothing I could do about it. Well maybe there is something I can do about it. Im writing this to let everyone know how shady this guy is and maybe...just maybe he will lose a customer or two.Of course I will remove this post if he returns my freshly painted red and yellow cans.
This place needs taught some business etiquette. Ive had 3 bad incidents with them and one fair . The one fair was me walking in buying s box of 338 LM ammo and walking out . The others were 1.called to look for a carry handgun under 250 $. Told to stop in and look we have plenty . Got there and the 2 ppl working behind counter were too into thier doritos or chips to help out . When I asked they said they didnt have any, than went back to piling food in thier mouths. 2. Called to ask about ammo for 300 Blackout . Owner told me he was busy with customers but we have lots of 300 BO ammo than rhung up . 3 went the next day to buy 300 BO ammo and all they have is 1 box of sig sauer hunting ammo, which is ridiculously priced at nearly a buck fifty a round, and some subsonic garbage . In a nutshell I have no idea how this place stays functional . Disorganized. Ammo all mixed up etc . Ill take my business to aadvantage in glen shaw.. Good dudes work and own it . Gave me a cleaning kit for nothing and I had my 338 LM ruger Precision rifle sent here . Went to pick it up and they showed me how to take it apart, put back together . Adios island arms
Great tackle shop . Good supply of fresh bait . Owner very informative on fishing the area . Bought a nice used Penn reel and great catfishing tackle . This will be my Go-To shop when Im fishing this area .
Is near Yeet st. 5 stars
These folks carry a wide variety of ammo. With very fair prices. With a wide variety of fiream makes and models.
Most of the time have a good deal and Wayne takes care of business! Bought several guns here and never had an issue....In fact, I may go down now and check out what he has and pick somethin up!
I am new to guns and still learning things. I dont know why, but every gun store I have been to, the clerks treat me like I am not worthy of even being in their store. They answer my questions with smerks and act like the last thing on earth they want to be doing is deal with me (even though I am spending money). This was the only place where I did not feel like that. I was able to have a good conversation with the clerk and he answered my questions like someone running a business should. This will be the only gun store that I frequent.
Mr. Lykens shop is a staple in the area for all of your hunting, fishing and firearms needs. Hes a straight shooter, no pun intended, and has forgotten more about the industry than most people learn in a lifetime. His prices are fair and his inventory is extensive.
Easy to deal with nice staff good selection
Wayne knows his stuff!Heres a man who knows everything about all firearms. The only place Ill go.Mike Brunner
I have been in the store three times. The place is overstacked with guns and too much stuff for the space making it hard to walk around or look at goods. Every time there seems to be a lot more interest in the staff side conversations than the customer, and you feel a sort of “what do you want? I don’t know you” intimidation. What they lack in smiles, customer service and cleanliness is compensated by straight talk, no frills quality knowledge and decent prices.Go to Keystone in Cranberry and everything is beautifully displayed, the staff are smiles and in professional attire— and you can’t find a used pistol below new MSRP.So what do you want? A good gun at a good price from a bait shop or the same gun $300 more because the staff smiles and says good morning!?!Advertising is $20 FFL transfer but it is really $40 out the door, which is my only real complaint for holding back the last star.
Tons of Stuff for any outdoor activities and reasonably priced.
Courteous, pleasant staff. Very quick transfer services at a reasonable price.
Cool family run bait shop
UPDATE:I regret returning to this gun shop and I will no longer do any business with them in the future. Their service is terrible and they dont care about their customers after they get their money. They ordered in a Glock 17 MOS and a Springfield XDE for me and said theyd be there in a week. A week went by and they called me and told me the Glock came in and when I asked about the Springfield they told me it wasnt there and they didnt know when it would arrive. The biggest problem is that the ordered the wrong Glock 17 MOS. I didnt even know to look but it came with the limited magazines instead of the regular ones and I didnt notice until after I got home. So I called and they said to bring it back in and theyd swap them out for me. So when I get back there they refuse to help me and say to call Glock for help. They then proceeded to tell me they can only order it with the limited magazines which is not true.Original review:When I called to see if they had a handgun in stock the young lady who answered the phone was very friendly & helpful. They didnt have the handgun I wanted but offered to order it in for me which I had them do.When they got it in which took less than a week and I picked it up they were very friendly and extremely quick with the paper work. They had everything ready and waiting for me to fill out with my handgun. As soon as I was done filling the paperwork out they had the background check done. I have never had this process go so smooth and quick as I did with them. I really couldnt believe how little time it took.Their prices were competitive and the service was excellent. I hope to do business with them in the future.
Transfers are cheap and customer service is great. Very helpful staff!
Knowledge abound, very nice and friendly, has everything youll need
Started going here a few months ago and I keep going back. All their staff are extremely knowledgeable in their prices always seem to beat the competition.
Good selection of firearms, new & usedFishing supplies and live bait. Stop by
Horrible service. Will ignore you compleatly while having conversation with someone who isnt even buying anything. All of his used guns are tossed in the case. Not even an attempt to wipe mud off of one glock. And I asked if he had a product once and he said it was illegal to sell to me if I was a law enforcement. When I called him on his lie hes changed his mind and said he just didnt want to sell it to me.
Ive been purchasing, selling, shooting firearms for very many years, and have completed transations all around the Pittsburgh area. There is no place Id rather spend my money than Island Firearms.Ive read some reviews here that I can assure are flat out null and void.Particularly the review of the individual who had the FFL transfer issue and claims a $20 overcharge.Call and ask specifically about the FFL charges for transferring and receiving firearms.Receiving shipped goods and simple P2P transfer are very often treated differently, priced differently, and for good reason.Either way you do it, it is fair, and the most inexpensive place in the Pittsburgh area.Ive purchased multiple firearms, fishing gear, traded in firearms for others, sold firearms, made P2P transfers, P2P purchases and sales, and never had an incident or negative experience.Wayne is a good guy, knowledgeable, and helpful.Understand that managing a small business is difficult.Being afforded the luxury of utilizing an FFL for receiving firearms purchased outside of the store is detrimental to the sales of the shop itself, and certainly not a channel of business that is making anybody rich.If you do it a number of times, you realize the value of it, and should understand that if your tracking information says the item has arrived--that doesnt mean that the owner of the shop should drop everything, grab YOUR package, and work on paperwork and processing stuff through their system.Selection is great--you can also order an incredible array of items from the new online store.Go check them out.I am in no way affiliated with Island Firearms, just a happy customer.
I am fairly new to guns. I owned a 22 caliper rifle years ago, but certainly never considered myself to be a gun expert. I was giving thought to buying a small handgun for the past couple of years, and recently I finally made the decision to buy. I researched the web considerably and decided that the Kel Tec was the type of gun I was looking for. After checking out gun shops in the area, I settled on Island Firearms. If you are looking for a place of beauty, Island Firearms is not your place. With that being said, my experience there was great. The owner was pleasant, informative and extremely helpful. He was not condescending at all, and in fact he was quite patient and taught me a lot about concealed weapons and provided me with sound advice on the type of gun to purchase. I ended up buying a Ruger LCP .380. The price was quite reasonable and well within my budget.I will definitely go to this shop again. It was a pleasant experience.
They advertise on Gun Broker as having $20 transfers, but when I arrived in the store the total cost turned into $40. I was told $20 to use the FFL and $20 to do the transfer, which didnt make sense. After I gave all of the information on the transfer I was told they would send over their FFL and call me when my firearm arrived. The next day I found out Island Firearms never sent over their FFL to do the transfer and that the person who would be able to send the FFL wouldnt be back for another 4 days. I cancelled my transfer with Island and used another firearms store that was able to send their FFL that day and only charged $20 total. I wouldnt recommend using Island Firearms for a gun transfer.
