I just purchased a bike after many years of not riding. Dave helped me and located a Diverge Specialized, which is perfect for me. He also took lots of time to explain everything I’d need to know to get going with bike riding again. He went above and beyond, even installing my bike rack into my car in 35 degree temperature. I cannot recommend this store enough. They really care about their product and their customers!

I have one had a bad experience in a few bike shops in my life. So there are a lot of shops Id still visit. Ive never shopped with PB+R nor purchased a Specialized before in 26 years of riding. After searching for a very long time for a new 2021 StumpyEVO I was forced to widen my range to find one. Dave answered my call, was very helpful and very responsive to my following messages attempting to purchase the same day. So far as to use some of his personal time after work for a delivery of the bike just before the Thanksgiving holiday which kept me from using my dwindling PTO to drive the 10 hour round trip in an evening then morning. Nothing but good things including follow up calls and info. Aside from the great sales and customer service the shop mechanic ran through the bike meticulously. I wrench on my own and know when its been slapped together or when time was taken to make certain it was in the best riding shape when it left the door. Kudos to Dave and his team. Very happy customer.

Had a new chain put on bike, took 4 weeks to get done. Finally get bike back and realize derailing not adjusted. You would think that a simple job like that, that this would be part of the job. Took bike back next day and was told that there was no mechanic working that day. You would think that if you are backed up 4 weeks to get work done. Maybe you should have a mechanic working every day to try and keep your customers happy. Maybe even hire another mechanic. Long story short. I checked bike back in thinking quick fix. Call a few days later and told not done. “No one to look at it, to busy, to backed up, check in a day or so.”Called a few more times and told the same B.S.. After 3 tries to get this simple problem fixed, I realized they put me back on the bottom of the repair list. Picked bike up today, not waiting another 4 weeks to have them turn a couple screws that should have been done with chain replacement. Thank god these people don’t work in a MASH unit.

I worked with Greg on a Friday afternoon. They werent busy so I received excellent service and ended up getting a Cannondale Topstone based on the recommendations I received. Greg was also able to add on bike pedals at no additional charge (which was great), and I was able to ask all my questions. I ended up purchasing my bike at the EOD, and he told me to come back within 2 hours to pick up the bike...However, I decided to come back the following day (on a Saturday morning)...The store was busy and they were serving another client at the register who was experiencing gift card issues for a long time. When I saw Greg, I approached him and he was a lot less friendly, probably because a). I already purchased the bike b). he wanted to quickly give me my bike to help other customers. The prior day, he mentioned that he would show me how to oil the bike and answer the rest of my questions when I picked up the bike. However, he insisted on just handing over the bike without taking the time to address any of my questions. He was also servicing me and several clients at the same time, so I had to wait a bit (which I didnt mind). After waiting--I was persistent and got my questions answered, but would have not received this service if I wasnt proactive. I am also a 100lb, petite girl and no one offered to help me load the bike in the car. I had to come back into the shop to ask for help. Therefore, based on my experience, I give this store a 4 star for the wide-variety of high quality bikes and decent customer service. I am taking away 1 star for a transactional customer experience (they should have taken the time to address my questions post-purchase and follow up with what they said they would do). In between my wait times, I spoke to another customer and he expressed how he felt this bike shop was unorganized. My advice: come on a weekday, during the day, and you will receive much better service.

They offered a free 90-day tune tune up while purchasing the bike and said that theyd do deraileur adjustment as part of it. When I later checked, they didnt do it neither did they put the pannier rack which I had talked to them while leaving my bike and on the phone before picking it up. All this while keeping the bike for over 2 weeks and failing to locate the bike when I gave the receipt number. Im sorry but this is the worst experience ever at a bike shop. Brought my sons lightly used bicycle (purchased at Pro Bikes) in for a tune up because he wanted it at college. The service took forever. They then packed it and Fed Ex shipped it to my son in Atlanta. The second time he rode it the chain snapped (during the tune up Pro Bikes recommended replacing the chain). My son took it to a local bike shop in Atlanta. They repaired the bike for $50 and emailed the receipt and a description of the service they performed to me. I took the email and receipt to Pro Bikes, asking them for a $50 refund. The person there said he could not do that because the bike was not here. I pointed out it would not make sense to have it shipped back here. He then said it had been more than a month since their service and he could not help me. I asked to speak to the manager. He said he is the manager, and that he wished he could help me.

I purchased a Cannondale 10 years ago from Pro Bike. I went to dust it off last night to get it ready for this season and tried adjusting the brakes myself. I was unable to get them adjusted properly so I called Pro Bikes this morning to see if I could have a tech take a look at them and let me watch so I could see what I was doing incorrectly. Because It was still early morning on a week day they were able to take me in immediately. Lucas did a great job adjusting the brakes, replacing the pads and giving the bike a quick tune-up! He didnt try up selling me on anything. They charged me a fair price and didnt make me feel stupid for not remembering how to adjust the brakes. Would definitely go back again!

I am so sad to say this about my local shop, but the salesman and manager Kevin were condescending and cancerous and they scared my mom away from picking my wheel. I entered pro bike a week ago to have a tire put on and a rim retapped. They said it would take 2 days for the rim to be done and it ended up taking a week and I still don’t have it. I tried contacting the store 9 times and they never picked up a call. It is truly awful that this is the biggest and self proclaimed best bike shop in the Pittsburgh area. It is almost as bad as google classroom. Many times I have been polite and they respond rudely and conceitedly towards my words. I asked about the cheaper end hardtails and the salesman always brought me to the 8000 dollar downhill e bike. I said “sir please I do not want the e bike.” He responded with “I know more about these bikes than you do so let me do my job” I requested to speak to the manager and the manager said he said he is doing his job correctly and then I said I do not want the e bike and he consistently strayed away from the cheaper bikes that I was looking for. I promptly left the store in need of a bike and drove to the trek store where they kindly offered me many great bikes of lower price and bigger selection. I purchased a trek superfly that is a sustainably good bike and rides well.

I wouldnt trust this shop to put together a cereal box. Its a shame there isnt more competition from brick and mortar stores in the greater Pittsburgh area. When I walked into the shop to be shown the array of mountain bikes in house, I was immediately directed to the most expensive models. Obviously, full suspension bikes are more expensive than hard tails, but the associate glossed over my questions when i asked about the less expensive full suspension models in house and directed me back to the more expensive bikes. When I started to ask him basic questions regarding travel and suspension setup, he shrugged his shoulders and said I dont know much about mountain bikes, I dont put them together. When I made my decision after leaving and doing my own research and purchased a new bike, I returned to pick up my new bike. I asked for help setting up the sag and rebound, and was told, quite literally, You dont need to do that, man. You can just ride it and bring it back for the free ninety day tune-up.My friends who have purchased bikes at this shop have also been treated in a very degrading manner by this shop. We have had problems with this shop honoring manufacturing warranties, trying to find reasons to blame the purchaser for obvious frame defects that developed over time, and not submitting a bike for a warranty claim. When the bike was taken to another authorized retailer, it was promptly submitted and the warranty claim was honored by the manufacturer. They just didnt want to deal with it.Stay away. You can get a greater selection online, and many direct to consumer manufacturers now allow you trial a bike with a return period. Brick and mortar stores need to compete with online institutions by offering superior customer service to compensate for reduced selection and retail mark-up, and customer service is something this chain of stores clearly lacks. If you need help learning about bikes, Global Mountain Bike Network offers an array of top-of-the-line educational videos that covers everything from riding to routine maintenance. In addition, there are several local stores you can go to where associates will treat you like a human being should you need help with maintenance.

The employees that work there are kind and helpful. Kevin, the manager there is conceited and full of himself. There is a reason he’s not a good businessman and owner of his own shop. We have benefited from the trade in system for our family over period of 5 years. My 10 and 8 year old were ready for their next upgrade 2 weeks before Christmas. I called and spoke to a nice girl. Told her I was interested in our two bikes being upgraded. The smaller one I bought was used. Larger one was new when I bought it. She said she would check w/manager, I would probably only get $50.00 towards his new bike because of was previously used. I was ok w/that. At least it’s something. I brought both bikes in. Kevin at the counter. I told him our conversation with the nice, knowledgeable girl. He said sharply, he is the manager and it’s against their policy to do that. After being taken back, I ended up buying him another used one. He was having my 10 year olds bike sent from another store. I left her trade in there. Intended to buy hers upon arrival of new bike. That same evening I realized I made a mistake. I called him and said I feel bad not getting my son a new bike, I would like to change my transaction from 8 hours before to a new bike. He again, sharply said it’s against policy to exchange used bike. I said you would not like a larger sale? He proceeds to brag about his store being in the black for December. He’s not worried about any extra sales because he sells $7000.00 bikes to customers. Apparently my two bikes were not generating enough revenue for his respect to me as a customer. He finally said he would exchange the bike I just bought for a newer one after I told him his customer service skills need improvement. I did much research with my cycling friends that have children. I contacted Dio, the manager at Trek Robinson. I picked up my daughters old bike from Kevin, drove to Trek and purchased two new, nicer bikes than I was originally planning to buy. Dio took the bikes as trade ins even though it was against their policy to take non-Trek trade-ins. He is donating them. They are wonderful there! I’m looking forward to a new relationship with them for the next 30+ years!

I worked at this Pro Bikes location for six months and it was a great experience all around. The current staff that works there (Chuck, Ed, Kevin, Sparkles, and Kris) are all true bike people from all different backgrounds (BMX, Road, Mountain, Commuter) who will not push a bike on you or let you walk out the door with a bike that is incorrect for you. The sales process is typically more of an interview, finding out what kind of riding the customer intends to use the bike for, a comfortable price range for the customer, and finding out what the perfect size of bike will be for the customer. They will also ensure that you receive the best deal possible on the bike you choose. The bikes the shop sells are hand picked from every manufactures product line to ensure the best quality and value in the niche you are looking at. The prices are above that of a department store for entry level bikes, but when it comes to bikes, its better to explain the price and apologize for the quality of what youre receiving and the lifetime warranties offered by every manufacturer the shop sells. When the new store gets opened, expect a faster service department with the same top notch work that was done before.

A manager (?) then walked over to my friend, and I, as we talked with the employee, and began to boast about how long he had worked there and that he sells 17 bikes a day! Since I walked out of the store without a bike that day, I guess he only sold 16. I went to pick them up and got a $70 bill. A little shocked, everything was then explained about labor rates, cost of parts,,, blah blah blah. All after the fact. Angry, I took the wheels home, took them apart, measured the bearings, and looked them up online. They are $8/set, and take about 5 mins to install. So, long story short, I paid $70 for $16 worth of bearings for a bike I’d be lucky to sell for $100. Lesson learned, probikes lost a customer.

Edit: I wanted to update my review after my most recent experience at the store. I have gone from 2 to 3 stars as their service department was stellar. This past week I took my bike to get some service. I have tried to learn the ins and outs of bike maintenance but after replacing my rear derailleur and cassette I couldnt get the bike to index properly. Nothing I did worked, so I broke down and took it in on Friday. Monday I received the call telling me what the issue was, my chain was too short. 100% my fault, I was an idiot and broke it too short. The technician told me the price of the chain (which was much higher than Amazon) and we went forward with the repair/tune. When I went to pick up the bike they discounted the price of the service by the cost of the chain since it was a relatively easy fix. They could have charged me $95 for service and $40 for the chain but I walked out paying $90.That to me is exceptional customer service and something that I really wanted to commend. If I ever mess up again I wont hesitate to bring my bike back for service. I hope this trickles down to the rest of the business.----------------------------------------My experience at this Pro Bike has been pretty miserable. For some back story I bought my first adult bike from Dicks across the street in 2011. It was a garbage Diamondback assembled horribly. After riding on and off for a few years I thought it was time to upgrade. In 2016 I bought a Giant Roam from Pro Bike and it was easily one of the worst experiences from experts Ive had. The salea guy didnt really ask me any questions and on three seperate occasions commented on my weight and having a big head. He wasnt wrong, I am a bigger guy with a large head but I am cycling for fitness and really dont appreciate people commenting on it when it had no bearing on the purchase. So now after two years I decided to upgrade once again. My first purchase was a pair of clipless pedals. I did my research, found what I wanted and decided I wanted support my local shop vs Amazon... well that was a poor decision. It costs double what it was on Amazon, so no thanks. A few weeks ago I was in the market for a new bike again.I wanted a gravel bike. I figured it fit the versatility I wanted. Figured Id take a look at the LBS again. Went in, no real conversation with anyone, and they literally had 3 gravel/cross bikes all the same model. I ended up finding the bike I wanted online for a fraction of the price even after shipping and customs from the UK.Youd have figured I had learned my lesson by now, but the shop is seconds from my office and I needed presta to schrader adapters. So Friday I walked in, see one customer getting their bike serviced with no one else working. I wait for a few minutes, still no acknowledgement. Another customer walks in goes to the service area, the employee finishes his current job and immediately starts chatting with the client that showed up after me. An additional 10 minutes go by they are talking casually, still no acknowledgement. I was really close to just taking 2 adapters and leaving $2.25 on the counter but I couldnt bring myself to do it. The next customer walks in and waits behind me for an additional 5 minutes before the employee breaks out of his conversation to help us.Its a shame that this place has the market share and nothing to compete against. Half of the employees arent knowledgeable, the other half are arrogant and look down on you (especially if you dont look like a cyclist). The service is horrendous and they get away with it because there is nothing else really close competition wise. This place has all the potential in the world, Pittsburgh has countless trails and great places to ride around it and the gateway is this terrible shop. The only reason they dont have a single star is because they are better than Dicks, if only by having better bikes.

I had a bike rack in mind I wanted to buy. I called them a few hours before to be sure they had it in stock and wanted to know how much it was. I get there and the price was $70 more than I was told on the phone. Then the employee got rude. I drove 40 minutes to waste my time.

I went there to browse today and was excited to see a 10-40% off sale going on. Unfortunately, there was no indication of which bikes were on sale, and most of the bikes werent even marked with prices. What a horrible way to try to sell products to your customers. I couldve potentially made a purchase today but not with prices on anything.

Ive actually been here twice looking at bikes recently after driving by about 1000 times and both times I felt like I was wasting someones time. I purchased a Specialized bike from Craigslist a few years ago and wanted to get something new so I went here as they were listed as a local dealer. There were 4 people in the store but nobody wanted to help at all.I heard them talking to each other and I guess sounded knowledgeable. I got the impression that they all bike but dont really want to be bothered by customers. There was a woman there who tried to buy a bike rack and asked if theyd install it for her. The first kid she talked to said he didnt know how, then yelled across the store to someone else who said he didnt know how either so he just told her they couldnt do it. I never did see anyone over the age of about 20 so maybe they just dont have a lot of retail/sales experience.I walked around for about 15 minutes and looked at what they had but didnt want to interrupt anyones conversation so just left. The place itself looks great and they have a large selection but it definitely ruined what I was hoping would be a fun experience.

Take heed to the reviews actually posted here regarding repairs and service, its BELOW PAR, even for Pittsburgh standards. The others are most likely not pro or amateur cyclists that have visited a real shop in their life. The large stock of Giant Bicycles to sell to clueless consumers seeking the thrill of the Tour de France is another warning.Pro Bikes LLC is more more like Pro Bikes LLC. I have visited on several occasions since our relocation to the local area over a year ago, disappointment each time, although relatively friendly associates, the only reason why we thought of returning, whom happened unfortunately not to be there this time! Aside from South Hills being the worst place to ride a bicycle due to the dumbest drivers and a nonsensical traffic system revolving around the longest red lights in the world, Pro Bikes offers an absolute dismal selection, you are much better ordering all of your equipment from the Internet, Pro or Am level. So I did do just that! Top-of-the-line helmet, bib shorts, SL chain, etc. I brought my Campagnolo Record/Ritchey WCS-fitted bicycle in this afternoon for some new tape, chain, and tires to be fitted because I simply do not have the tools in our current setup, poor me. A 30-Minute - 1 Day job (if busy) for most bicycle shops or a new windshield wiper setup for most auto shops in comparison.Nope. 1 Week. This was delivered via three professional and helpful sales associates standing around doing nothing in a shop that you cannot sell anything. No approach, we had to approach them yet we were holding a bicycle and two wheels with a box full of goodies. Crossed arms, straight faced, and smart ass comments - Oh you want us to do all of that? And yeah, you can just put your wheels back on yourself if you want it serviced. Excuse me, God forbid us to come into your half-assed bicycle store for a paid service. Just because you have a cheap truck with some vinyl graphics on it that says Pro Bikes, does not mean that you are a pro bicycle store. You have better luck getting your bike serviced at REI or Toys R Us without the attitude above all else. And as far as the reviews on here, actual repairs that are acceptable to pro riders.Um... No. Never coming back, found two other shops worth my time and money to drive the extra 15 minutes. Including one that can do a FULL pro tune-up, which includes full disassembly, cleaning, re-assembly, and recalibration within ONE DAY. As it should be for any pro bicycle store worth their snobbish attitudes. I can imagine Pro Bikes LLC quoting a month for something like that and still not doing it correctly. Otherwise I recommend everyone to just drive to Jacksonville, FL to get your bike serviced by a real biking community and drive back, it will be done within three to four days including two days of driving non-stop to Florida.Good riddance.

Slow service both times I was there. Took 3 days to install new tires, and my bike came back missing a valve cover and a broken master link.
