The staff at Riverstone Books are always helpful and kind. Barbara has helped my daughter and I find many interesting books. What they dont have in stock, they will order and even deliver to my house! Im happy to see that they brought back their mask policy. I will continue to buy from Riverstone over Amazon going forward!

I always find the most interesting books and great gifts here. A wonderful book store that is worth a visit. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Terrible book store. The virtue signaling involved in requiring all to wear a mask when mask mandates have been lifted and expecting children 2 years old to wear masks while shopping is despicable. I will never spend a single penny in this store ever again and will encourage family and friends to stay clear as well.

Just stopped into Riverstone Books and was pleasantly surprised by how sweet this localbook store is! They have a nice selection of books for all readers, genres and ages!There are also small gift items, puzzles, mugs, cards and seasonal items. The decor is warm and inviting and so are the staff. I went into Riverstone for the first time today and I have found my new favorite bookstore! They have a great selection of books to pick from. I spent over an hour in there just looking at everything. I also love how on the bookshelves the staff leave notes about their favorite picks. I can’t wait to go back again :)

I’ve shopped here a number of times. Each time the staff has taken time to help me find great books for my kids. A few visits back, a very knowledgeable woman steered my son to the perfect series for him—and he’s avidly reading through the series. Most recently, the same woman helped to steer me towards a nonfiction book for a more “reluctant” reader when we couldn’t find a fiction book for her. That night, she read her books and told me all about the amazing things she was learning about dogs—so thank you!! This brick and mortar bookstore is a treasure in our neighborhood!

I was skeptical of this place the first time I went in, but its lovely. The staff are all earnest, enthusiastic people, who care about books. The selection is great, theres a lot of emphasis on local authors and books about Pittsburgh, and its a very pretty store. A nice place to be, with very good books.

One of my absolute favorite book stores! The staff are always so friendly and helpful, the store is gorgeous and the atmosphere makes you feel like every book on the shelf is just calling you to pick it up and dive in. I never leave empty handed and especially love the free gift wrapping!

1 star for operating hours. 5 stars for selection and customer service. call ahead before you go. they choose to shut down during the busiest shopping times. Google will tell you they are open when theyre not. I am very grateful they let me in to shop when they were supposed to be closed for inventory and appreciate how helpful they were but I cant understand why a business would choose to be closed on a Saturday morning.

I absolutely adore Riverstone. My family lives 5 minutes away and I refer to Riverstone as my “happy place”. The staff is amazing! I am greeted every time I’m in the store, and am offered recommendations. The set up of the store is adorable, and I’m always able to find books and toys as well as other gifts such as candles, trays and decorations. They also host events such as “meet the author” and toddler yoga and story time. Unfortunately my toddler is in daycare during toddler yoga, but I stopped by myself during the event and it Was probably the cutest thing I’ve ever witnessed. I also stop by with my 15 month old who loves looking at the stuffed animals and the colorful books in the children’s section. If you love to read and independent stores, you NEED to stop! I’m actually stopping today because their Christmas set up is legendary!

Its been some time until a bookstore came back to the area that I look forward to visiting. It has an enthralling book selection, enchanting kids corner, whimsical card nook, and offers a wide selection of events and entertainment to customers, and wondering visitors. There is always something special happening here and you can always count on the staff providing excellent book suggestions and sharing upcoming news. I especially enjoy their website, emails, and easy online/pickup service. Between the nearby library and this bookstore, you have it covered!

What a beautiful bookstore! It’s always so nice to shop at independent bookstores. They had a wide selection of books - from best sellers to local Pittsburgh authors. They also had a small, but nice selection of gift items. The staff was friendly and helpful.

They were incredibly friendly and super conscientious after opening post-quarantine. They had sanitizer and gloves if you wanted to use them. They also had you place books on a table If you looked at it but didnt purchase it so they could sanitize it. Great small business to support!

A fantastic store all around, but I always go directly to the back for their excellent childrens book selection! As an early childhood educator, this store feels like a miracle. Having a fiction and nonfiction section, just for young children, is so very cool. They even have baby-friendly books (made to be safe for chewing, un-rippable, etc). And that doesnt include their young adult section!I also felt very safe there, COVID-19 precaution-wise, when visiting with my slightly at-risk mother today. She insisted that it would be okay to stop at Riverstone (Ive been VERY cautious) and she was right!

Even though this place and s not large, their selections are huge! If you or your kind is need help finding a good book, workers are really friendly and know books. They have nice gift for baby and adult also. If you are looking for gifts for baby and toddler, you definitely find lots. Very cozy and relaxing place.

This is why you want independent bookstores. Not only does Riverstone offer an awesome assortment of genres and top shelf books, but the staff is incredible. I walked in to browse the stacks and was approached by the most knowledgeable helpful staff person who seemed to know every novel on the shelves. I walked out with a few fantastic books that I NEVER would have found, much less bought in my aimless browsing. This is the perfect bookstore and a great asset in the north hills.

Great Small Book Store. They are small, and obviously dont have the stock of a Barnes & Noble. What they have are books, personal reviews and recommendations, interesting cards, holiday decorations, and toys. The employees are unobtrusive, friendly and efficient. This is the definition of small business to support.

Great local book store with a good variety of literature. I was pleasantly surprised to discover a wonderful assortment of very affordable greeting cards. Most of their cards have vivid images and appropriate texts, and seem to be unique to this store.

A great little book/gift store with unique gifts and books. It is small and not a huge selection, but still fun. The hardcover books were average bookstore prices. I would visit again!

Greatly enjoyed our first visit to this shop. They have storytime every Saturday at 10. Next week will have an Irish dance guest. Our older child was against going at first because there were no other children of the same age, but that turned out not to be the case and everyone had a good time. Please do pay them a visit.

Update May 2020: After taking a break from Riverstone, I decided to visit them again during the pandemic. As frustrating as previous visits had been, I wanted to make sure I was buying local, so I gave it another shot. I’m glad that I did. The service has improved remarkably. During the Stay at Home order, they provided pick up and delivery services and were very prompt about it. They put handwritten thank you notes in the books as well. Today I went in for a wander for the first time since my last review and found a much more pleasant environment. The staff was kind to me, they weren’t having rude discussions amongst themselves, and they helped me order a book that was out-of-stock. Hopefully this will be the standard experience going forward. I so want to love this place and support the local bookshop. I buy an average of four books per month and it’s walking distance from my house - looking forward to making my purchases here.Former review: I began frequenting Riverstone Books when moved to the area about eight months ago. Initially, I really enjoyed my visits and bought books every time I went in. Recently through, I’ve felt I shift in the atmosphere there. Frankly, it’s entirely due to one employee. Every time she’s there I have a negative experience. She’s loud, abrasive, and very opinionated. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but if you’re trying to sell books, it’s both rude and counterproductive to stand in the middle of the store and call some genres “dumb” or say that it makes sense to put other books high “because who wants to read those”. I don’t appreciate being approached with a fake smile and a half-hearted offer to help find something. It’s disingenuous and effectively ruins what should be a pleasant perusal for my next read. I’m not sure if I’ll be back. If there’s a loud, middle-aged red-head working, I recommend you avoid the place entirely too.

Quaint little store. Has book readings on weekends for the kids, and book signings and educational sessions for adults throughout the week. I personally loved the Whiskey Rebellion story time. Do yourself a favor and stop and check it out.

The North Hills was sorely lacking a bookstore for years. This is a great store, with a large kids section, cook books, mysteries, new releases and best sellers - everything you can want from a community bookstore.

Wow! What a gem! The two times Ive been here, Ive randomly found a bestselling author talking and a first edition signed book!

Its a fantastic book store. The workers there were very helpful in finding the perfect gift for my sister. She took me over to the recommended section, asked what type of books my sister liked and made a recommendation accordingly. They are slightly pricey, but it doesnt bother me--im more than willing to support one of the few bookstores left in the area. For those wondering, I bought Meddling kids, a dark spinoff of scooby doo. Its a refreshing look at the classic cartoon.
