Absolutely delicious food. I keep drooling if you ask me the food here. I would definitely recommend anyone to checkout the cute little place. Frankly speaking, great service, great food.
Friendly, attentive staff provides excellent service to upper Lawrenceville. Everything is vegan and the ingredients are always quality. They have extensive gluten free options (they actually won an award for that). They are owned by local people that worked hard to build this business and make it what it is today. If you dont know what you want, they are helpful in making good recommendations. Support this local vegan spot. It is one of a kind
While trying to find local vegetarian/vegan restaurants we can support, we stumbled upon this place. They are take out only as of now. The online ordering process is so easy with options to customize the order and add any special requests or comments. The tofu scramble and the wrap were really flavorful. Although Ive had vegan cheese before, I thought using the besan cheese was creative. My kids loved the buckwheat pancake, the fries, and the tofu scramble. The toast with the cashew cheese was the only thing that was off but it could also be because weve never tried cashew cheese before. This place reminded me so much of the Quiet Storm restaurant on Penn Ave which closed many years ago. Highly recommend and we will visit again!
We love this place. Try to go every time we’re in Pittsburgh. The pandemic has made it HARD. We stopped by for lunch. Only takeout available and the wait was super long. We decided to try again later. But we grabbed a chocolate chip cookie to go. My husband kept saying, “How can they make these taste so good?!” I’m 54 years old and its the best cookie I’ve ever had - in my whole life. It was crisp on the outside and soft in the middle. The dark chocolate chips were gooey, intense, and so delicious. The salt flakes on top made for a cookie that was sweet, but not too sweet. The texture was perfection. We walked back and bought one more to share. Seriously, if I had only one meal left, I would ask for one of these cookies. Maybe two. They’re that good. How can I get that recipe?
This place is awesome! I love the breakfast scrambles. And I got to try vegan baklava for the first time ever!
Very good vegetarian restaurant. If you are driving, parking could be quite tricky at times. The restaurant is not that big, so be prepared to wait if you go at a busy times. The staff that work there are very helpful. The food is very delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Great job.
Quite possibly my new favorite restaurant! Gotta go on a Wednesday for burger night!Edit: i still love This place, though I hate the new hours. I understand the reasoning, but the frequency I can go has dropped severely. The last time I went, it doesn’t seem the hours have affected their business. It was packed there. The food is still wonderful, though I can usually only do take out due to the new hours, which lowers the inherent visual appear of the food. The takeout game is strong.
Love b52 Ive been vegetarian for years and this is my favorite place to eat. Even if you want to try something new and change your eating routine this is the place to go. Take it from me this is the place to eat.
As a vegan I’m always looking for new places to try and B52 made the cut after seeing their advertisement for Burger Night which would suggest there is some sort of special right ?! Try $18.97 later for a burger and some fries . No drink included . My featured burger looked nothing like the mouth watering one that was advertise on their facebook. but it did the job and I can taste the fresh ingredients which is always a plus . This place was nothing to brag about . I didn’t hate my bite size burger but I won’t go bragging to my friends either .
Okay, what type of magic is happening in the kitchen? on a family trip from NYC to Chicago, we stopped at Pittsburgh and wow.the food. the portions. the taste. the customer service. 5 stars.i would consider driving back to Pittsburgh just for this food.we got blueberry pancakes, seitan shawarma, tofu scramble, coffee with lavender/vanilla syrup, and a hot chocolate.😋🤤
First time going here in a year and I was utterly disappointed. I got the tofu scramble and kofta besan cheese melt with an espresso drink. The tofu was watery and not very well seasoned. While the kofta melt was so greasy and not tasty at all. And despite telling them I wanted extra hot sauce in the wrap but instead they didnt and charged me extra for the sauces on the side despite I asked for no ketchup🤷🏽♀️ the fries were thin and soggy, definitely not double fried. Probably the fries were the best thing and that is sad for a vegan place. I was just sad that this place downhill. I would not introduce non vegans to this place for plant based food except for the Lebanese mezze. Its pricey and would turn off people from delicious plant based foods. Im giving it 3 stars for the cookie from allegro hearth bakery and the fries. I even had to waste my coffee and go a buy an espresso from the cafe dAmore up the road-which was delicious!
Another Vegan and healthy find for Breakfast!Their coffees are usually prepared with oat/almond/coconut milk. Various options for tea to choose from.Sourdough Buckwheat Pancakes - Tofu Scramble - Avocado Toast - Carrot Latkes - Chipotle Avocado Mousse - Lemon Ginger Tea - Hummus - TahiniPlease try and you will thank me later ♥️♥️♥️
WOW. this place is phenomenal. we ordered 4 of their sandwiches and they were all super unique & pretty mind-blowing. thanks!
It is one of the very few restaurants in Pittsburgh burg are to offer vegan food that too Mediterranean. The food is delicious, and dont forget to try flafel wrap. The flafels are delicious, fresh and crunchy as they are meant to be. The restaurant is busy and be ready to wait when you get there
Everything from this place is DELICIOUS. My personal favorite dish is the tofu scramble... It has amazing latkes, a tasty scramble, and healthy greens. Their chocolate cake is heavenly and, for those craving a small bit of chocolate, they have incredible housemade chocolates with caramel fillings, crunchy toppings, and other amazing combinations.Im so happy that this 100% vegan restaurant exists!
This was my first experience at B52 Cafe. I am not vegan, but I love trying all different kinds of food. I got a mocha, avocado toast, and cashew yogurt. Everything was AMAZING!!!! Some of the best, freshest food Ive ever had. I love yogurt, but this was by far the best yogurt I ever had! Service was great, and so was the management. I plan to come back... soon! 😄 5🌟
Everything is always delicious. My husband and I like ordering the shawarma and falafel wrap and splitting. They are both so yummy. The baba ganoush is probably the best I’ve ever had so get a side of that
Best vegan restaurant in the city. Everything Ive ever tried here has been great and seasoned perfectly. Even my meat-eating husband likes their food
So this place has been on my list of vegan food places to try in Pittsburgh, as im transitioning from vegetarian to vegan. Im absolutely upset with myself that I did not come sooner!! I stopped in with a friend who used to be vegan and she knew the menu well and also order a few extra things since it was my first time. I had one of the tofu scramble meal, home fries, hummus, and blueberry pancakes! They we delicious! Strangely I was blown away by the pancakes! I like pancakes but not enough to rave about them! These pancakes were flavorful and moist! Ive stopped in a few times and they had a line, more so because they are a smaller restaurant & great food so I would go about a half our or hour before youve made plans just incase you have to wait 30mins+ to be seated. They do have an take out option which is awesome!
This place is getting better overtime! Awesome weekend specials. Follow them on Instagram for surprises. Hope they keep going like this and even open more places
This is a very pleasant place to catch a light meal if you are vegan or have a vegan fellow traveler in your personal circus. This is not post commune hippie relentless fare with triple organic, newly paleo perfect, biodynamic artisanal sludge with cage-free veggies and wild foraged but cruelty-free mixed ethnic grains. I mean, I guess that would be ok . But I ate enough of that in a prior era or dimension, not sure which.
Wow. VERY pleasantly surprised. Not all vegan places are good and this was AWESOME.Friendly staff, quick service and the food was LEGIT 🔥🔥 with good portion sizes.I ordered the Kofta Tofu Scramble and it was so good. They also make their own kombucha with rotating flavors - the lemon ginger was on tap while I was in and it was great. The place also has a cool, laid back vibe and friendly atmosphere.I dig it. ✌️
Im not a vegan but you couldnt tell me that their breakfast tofu scramble wasnt real eggs. The food tastes great and you are served healthy portions. they have in house juices and sodas that are tasty. Service was a little slow but it was busy at the time. The seitan is delicious. Their yogurt could be eaten by itself for bfast. The fries and hot and crunchy. I would make a return visit if Im in Pittsburgh again.
Wow! Love this place. I’m glad Pittsburgh has vegan restaurants. I highly recommend trying the spicy kofta tofu wrap and the cauliflower wings.
B52 is perfect for anyone seeking a local vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free, &/or health conscious eatery... or lets be honest--just anyone looking to eat delicious fusion Mediterranean!Peaceful atmosphere, irresistable food and drink (with daily/weekly/seasonal specials to keep it interesting--check Instagram!), reasonable prices, & great service every time. Its small, limited seating, so depending on day, there may be a wait (that is absolutely worth it). This section of Lawrenceville has fun little shops nearby to pass the time if so desired.Theres also mezze options and pitas ready to go up front for a quick lunch if youre hangry or on a time crunch. Do note their lunch and dinner times have some food and drink menu changes and some nights there are specials so popular they run out!
Seitan shawarma is my new favorite wrap! Amazing food.
Quaint, quiet unintimidating little restaurant in the end of lawrenceville. Went here on an easy date with my husband. We enjoy a mostly vegetarian diet, so it was adventurous to try this vegan cafe. The menu was great. We had moussaka with cashew cheese and veggie wrap. Couldnt stop eating the delicious fries, and they had homemade Komboucha on tap. It was delicious! We will definitely return, and highly recommend.
Food was stellar. Service was quick. 10/10 would recommend.
Food is healthy, fresh, and amazing. Coffee is fantastic. Employees are all great. Best desserts as well.
Place is small, so I don’t think it’d be a terrible idea to make a reservation if you want to be sure to get a table. My husband and I walked in and got a cool spot at the bar. The bartender was lovely and mixed me up a blood orange and basil soda, which was delicious! I ended up ordering a falafel sandwich (actually a wrap), and fries. The sandwich was enormous, and I was happy to fill myself up on half of it and my fries and take my other half home to eat later. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was nice. I live over an hour’s drive away, but I’ll definitely be back. I regret not ordering dessert to take home. Next time!
Best Shawarma I’ve ever had. Definitely making this a regular spot.
Food is so good, dont like any of the drinks, service is great
Although there are tons of great vegan options in Pittsburgh these days, B52 stands out because of both the consistent excellence of the food/service and the fact that every committed omnivore Ive taken here absolutely loves it. My favorite items are the falafel salad and the tofu scramble, but if you go and you dont get a dessert, youre seriously missing out. The mezze platter is also a great way to go if you want to share a bunch of dishes with friends. Love love love this place, and apparently so do a lot of Pittsburghers–if youre going for dinner on a weekend night, be prepared for a (very worthwhile) wait!
I am SO glad B52 is open again!Ive had it all here... buckwheat pancakes, kofta scramble, lentil soup, avocado salad AND sandwich, cashew cheese toast. Every single dish has been delicious and makes it hard to choose what to order. Also their drinks are great. Housemade kombucha, espresso, and tea selection all tasty.
Im not a local so I enjoy seeking out vegan cuisine during my travels. Literally everything on the menu was vegan, and beyond appetizing. I wished I couldve sampled everything. This will force a return trip so I can try other dishes. Friendly staff, great vegan food, really cool modern ambiance. All around a fantastic experience.(For the record: the dish pic I attached is the seitan shwarama, red lentil soup and house made blood orange basil soda)
Cheese fries are fire! Everything here is delicious.
Delish... those pancakes. That chocolate chip cookie! 🍪 theScramble... the avocado toast. Yum!!!!!!
B52 is my favorite vegan place Ive ever been, and is probably one of the best restaurants in PGH in general. The food is cozy, thoughtful and always delicious, the portions are generous, and management takes covid precautions (and by extension, their takeout program) seriously. Theres so much I havent tried on the menu because Im stuck on my favorites (kofta cheese melt and a slice of chocolate cake, which, I should note, is among the best chocolate cakes Ive personally had, vegan or not), but everything Ive ordered has been 10/10. Highly highly recommended.
Best food in the region, especially if youre vegetarian.
Mmmmmmm... Thats the stuff
The kofta burger was hands down the best vegan burger I’ve ever had!!! Amazing!!! If I lived in Pittsburgh I’d eat there every day!! Thx B52!
Best vegan food. I love the variety!
I’ve lived in three different countries and moved across five cities in the United States. This is, hands down, my favorite place to get food in the world.
Everything is from scratch. So good.
My dog and I are currently Road Tripping... and we needed delicious, healthy vegan food 😋 google searched for Vegan Restaurants Near Me and saw how many 5 star reviews this place had... knew immediately where we were eating dinner 😍I got their MOUSSAKA and it was mind blowing and DELICIOUS. More than I could have ever hoped for.Ive been vegan for 2 years and this was top 3 most delicious vegan meals Ive had to date.I look forward to coming back to Pittsburgh to experience this vegan 🌱 taste bud paradise 🌴 again! Thanks to all who made this happen! Im so very grateful for B52 ✌🏽😍
My favorite spot in Pittsburgh for breakfast and lunch. The food and service has always been excellent.
The latte with their house blended spices was the best latte Ive ever had. Delicious food and friendly service. We had their cashew cheese spread toast w homemade preserves, pancakes and avocado toast and everything was fantastic. Our toddler is allergic to dairy and egg so this place was heaven for us!
The lentil soup would be better without the huge chunks of pickled lemon in it. Also, if youre not into Mediterranean Vegan foods youll be severely disappointed.
Awesome food, all vegan, huge portions!
Had an amazing sandwich and salad here. Delicious and fresh vegan food and great vibe. The coffee smells divine.
What an impressive find!! Everything we ordered was wonderful. I’m not a vegan but this food didn’t make you miss dairy or meat at all. The favors were well developed. Try a latte and a cookie! This isn’t a large restaurant but it’s always busy. I’ve never had to wait more than 15 minutes to be seated. There is a little parking lot close by where the cost is reasonable.
Foods amazing. One of the best vegan places. My only complaint is that I wish they’d stay open later:( I always miss them because I’m an evening person. Other than that this place is perfect.
Ive read so many other reviews about how rude the staff is at B52, but I tried 2 times to give them the benefit of the doubt. But it isn’t worth going to this place. The food is decent but Pittsburgh has better vegan restaurants. And no other place I’ve been to, treat customers so meanly. I see now why people have said the same thing. So sad :(
A went to Pittsburgh to visit a friend and she brought me to B52. I was throughly impressed! I ordered the Chai tea and Avocado toast. Both were fantastic. The chai was more spicy than sweet, which is how I prefer it. My friend got the baba ganoush with gluten free bread; she let me try and it was also delicious. All of the staff were masked, and the space was clean & tidy. The staff was patient and friendly. I even saw someone run out to a customers car and deliver eating utensils after the customer forgot to take them. Anytime I return to Pittsburgh, Ill be making a stop here.
Some of the best food in Pittsburgh, even if you arent vegan. Their scrambled eggs are absolutely delicious. Plus, theyve adapted well to COVID.
I really like the B-52 Cafe the food is delicious and the atmosphere is bright and friendly. Its a little pricey but thats to be expected at a vegan restaurant I suppose. As I said the food is fantastic however the menu never changes. What does change though is the refreshing and delicious options of house-made Kombucha and it could be very crave-worthy
Some of my favorite vegan food in the burgh! Absolutely love the unique flavors of the cashew wrap and the perfectly cooked cauliflower! Even you non-vegan friends will dig this place!
Vegan food that is so good you will consider going vegan if you haventt already.
One of my favorite restaurants ever! Interior design, food, custom drinks, staff, vibe----top notch. Prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality and amount.
Excellent restaurant and cafe. Every dish my wife and I have tried is delicious, especially the falafel and the cauliflower, those are our favorites. Highly recommended for anyone who wants good Mediterranean food in Pittsburgh!
I rarely voluntarily choose a vegan restaurant. This one was worth it. The food was both delicious and kept me full. Service was great. Plenty of gluten free options too.
Excellent Middle Eastern food! Show up early, because theyre quite popular and you risk having to wait, but its totally worth it. Nice green well-seasoned falafel and absolutely perfect baklava.
This Café is next level amazing. I’ve come here at least three times during my visits to Pittsburgh and the quality of service and food has never seized to impress. Don’t hesitate to visit. #approved
Amazing vegan food. We first went here for a Wednesday Kofta Burger night and absolutely loved it. Since then weve gone back multiple times for breakfast. My fiancee loves their breakfast sandwich and tofu scramble. The coffee is delicious and their tea is very cheap! If youve been contemplating trying this place, definitely check it out.
Delicious, high quality, in house fare, even the desserts! We were impressed with the nice touch of tastes, seasonings, and very wise flavor pairings of the dishes we tried. Also, the dessert was awesome! We shared a piece of carrot cake; moist, bursting with texture and flavor. The icing was perfect. Best of all? Everything is vegan!!!
Yummy vegan cafe! Great breakfast items! Phenomenal pastries and sweets. Unique lattes, and oh did i mention everything here is cruelty free!
I went with a party of ten, and although we had to split up because they are a smaller place, the experience was amazing. Everyone loved the food, and most of the people I went with arent vegan. The service was great and the dishes were flavorful and filling, with adapted traditional dishes.
The food was delicious. I highly recommend the almond butter toast and the buckwheat pancakes. The service was good. The energetic vibe of this spot is a very nice, pure, high vibration. I am grateful for the delicious meal I had in this nice lil spot ^_^
Had a wonderful lunch here with family. Loved everything we got and cant wait to go back! Sorry we missed out on the cookies. ☹️
Better than 5 stars. Vegan too! Shwarma sandwiches were amazing(spices were a delight). Pickled veggies with olives perfect appetizer. Red lentil soup fantastic. Saved room for cinnamon bun and chocolate cake. Even our 4 y/o grandson was pleased!First time here. You will not be disappointed.
Friends took me here for my birthday and it was perfect! Theres lots of delicious, well prepared and beautifully plated options. There can be a long wait to get a table, though, so arrive early! I ordered the cashew almond yogurt and mezza cauliflower plate, and tried a friends pancakes. All vegan, all delicious. The pancakes were like banana bread a bit. All told, delicious, not too pricey, and lots of vegan and gluten free options for sensitive diners!
