Just went with a friend this morning on a Saturday. I would get there early if you are worried about social distancing. Starts to fill up around 10:30am.So vibrant and eclectically decorated on the inside. Warm, friendly staff, relaxing laid back atmosphere, yummy 🤤 food. The portions are large and reasonably priced. There are vegan options if that’s important. So disappointed with the weather, what a shame, we’ll have to go back again to enjoy more food and hang out under the umbrella’s ☂️.

Good food, bad service. Food was good, not worth the price though. What made the experience unpleasant was the rude waitstaff and long wait times. Waited extremely long for our meals while others who had been seated after us received their food first. Not to mention they charge for the tiny bottles of water they place on the tables before you sit down, instead of offering water glasses and free water like any other restaurant. Much better brunch places in the area to spend your money at.

Honestly not that great. The crepes were more like pancakes than actual crepes. They took an hour and a half just to seat us, which by that point we just ordered takeout. Bear in mind the restaurant was pretty empty, so I’m not sure why it took that long. Wouldn’t recommend going here as there are better options in Pittsburgh

Great atmosphere. Pretty busy on the patio and inside by the time I left. Great food and exceptional service. I got the meditterean omelet, salad w balsamic and wheat toast with an orange juice. I generally dont go for feta as my first choice, but the grilled onions and peppers put the dish over the top. Delicious. After a morning run, I left feeling full but not stuffed, so I was able to make it home. A great start to my Sunday morning. Will definitely be going back.

We were searching for some healthy food in the area and found this spot! I ordered French toast (regular, as they offer many options of French toast with fruit and other sweet options), over easy eggs and bacon. We also got a plate of fruit which was fresh and delicious! I didn’t really care for the French toast, it seemed as if it was not made fresh but out of a prepackaged box. The eggs and bacon were fine though. Our server was pretty timid and seemed a little frustrated. We had to ask for a refill for water and napkins instead of it just being offered. I can’t say I would return, the umbrellas on the deck was cute but nothing wowed me about the food.

This is the third time Ive been to Caffe Mona -- and its just getting better. The people are friendly and very eager to ensure guests have an enjoyable experience. Evidenced just yesterday (Sunday) morning, walking past the kitchen on the way to the back deck with beautiful umbrellas --all staff, including the chef -- saying, hello and good morning and welcome. On the way to the back deck, the main dining area is very non-commercial and more like a coffee shop.

Went to brunch today at this cafe with a friend and quickly put our name in to be seated at 12:15p. The man at the counter said it would be about a 20 minute wait. My friend and I patiently waited to hear our name called and intentionally sat at a patio table outside the front counter so we could easily here my name. After a little while I hear “Carrie” “Carrie” being called (my name is Cassie). So I make eye contact with the man but see another couple head to the counter and get seated. No other gesture from the man at the counter indicating that he was ready to seat me, so I continue to wait. I look at the time and it’s now 12:50p it’s been way past the 20 minutes so I go to the counter and I don’t see my name written on the list of names. I ask the man politely about not seeing my name on the sheet and wondered when he thought a table would be ready. He replied it’s right here I called your name twice and you made eye contact. I said you were calling out “Carrie” “Carrie” and that’s not my name. Ultimately at this point you should just apologize to the customer about the mistake and not blame them for the issue. Also don’t cross out someone’s name from the list if you haven’t seated them yet.

Hidden gem that does not look like much from the outside. It has a wonderful outdoor area in the back with hanging umbrellas that provide the perfect amount of shade and sun. The sandwich came on a toasted bun with chips and a side salad.

Found this spot on google by typing in “healthy options near me”. This spot was interesting in that they had some really nice PROs but also some very glaring CONs. PROs: 1) Location- the location is nice and it’s right off of Penn Ave nearby Children’s. The outdoor seating is really nice and I love the umbrella roof they created 2) Fruit options on the menu- they had a large selection of fruits. The fruit platter was amazing it consisted of: apples, pears, cherries, bananas, and strawberries. All fresh. 3) simple menu. CONs: 1) Quality of heated food- the chicken used to make my chicken sandwich was frozen chicken pieces. The French toast seemed frozen too and then reheated on the flat top to keep it 100. 2) Inaccurate explanation of items on the menu- this is minor but a con nonetheless but they say they offer avocado for their sandwiches but in reality it’s an avocado paste. Not the same and it may have been from a bag. They need to say it’s a paste and not mislead. Overall I think this spot is better for lighter meals as their salad and fruits were nice. I’m iffy on their meats except for their bacon, their bacon was pretty good.

I want to start with the fact that while the food was good, the staff is extremely rude. They are not at all toddler friendly . One of the staff members was extremely rude and obnoxious. They gave us an undesired table and when we requested another table, a lady from the staff was kind enough to help us with our request. On the other hand that the rude staff member, insulted us and created a huge scene. Well it’s really sad that a good cafe has such bad energy . I don’t think we’ll ever go back . Other staff members were great, however insulting your customers isn’t the best way to do business

I went with my friend today around 10:30-11am. The food was good but the service was absolutely aweful. The waiter was very rude. He complimented my purse when greeting us, very odd, but ok. When I asked for an extra cup of ice for my Chai late he said, Can I just put it together to make my job easier. I politely stated that I wanted it on the side. When he brought our drinks he then spilled orange juice on my purse and didnt even say sorry which kinda makes me think it was on purpose for inconveniencing him with the ice. He was very short and rude the entire rest of the time. After we got out food we saw him once, when he tried to take my food before I was done, then not again until we were ready to leave. When we asked for separate checks he told us to just go up front to pay. We didnt even get a receipt so I dont know his name. All in all we will NOT be back.

We unfortunately had a negative experience at Caffe Mona. We were there for Sunday brunch and the food was pretty good. We had the chevre omelet, french toast, waffle and two fruit plates. However, the waitstaff were dismissive, unhelpful and even rude. They would not make eye contact so that they wouldnt have to stop at our table, so I said hi to one waiter. He looked at me, unsmiling, and quickly walked by. We had to ask for silverware and the waiter who brought it to us waved it in the air at us before setting it down, no smile. We asked our waitress if there were any vegan menu options and she looked at us like we were nuts, then said no. She did not come back to top off my coffee, so I had to ask the guy at the front end for some. I realize it is difficult for restaurants right now to find enough staff to work for them because of the pandemic, but there really is no excuse for an eatery to have such a snooty vibe. Wont go back.

Waited nearly 10 minutes for a normal cup of coffee. Not sure where the girl went after we ordered it. Let me be clear, absolutely no one was in the restaurant but one other table. So, my friend asked one of the guys inside. He quickly brought us the coffee and took our order. We both ordered omelets, a veggie and the chèvre. The eggs were over cooked (rubbery) and no flavor whatsoever. They looked amazing though but truly disappointing. I mean literally there was no flavor. The omelets were served with dry toast, no butter, had to ask for it, which came out ice cold and wouldn’t spread on the toast.Lastly, we ordered a single slice of Brie and fig French toast. Again, sadly no flavor. It wasn’t sweet or savory or anything. The fig jam was bland. Each took a bite and didn’t finish it because it was so blah. But it looked amazing. Not sure what the deal is here? A true disappointment considering most reviews were amazing. Also... waiting for the check... took forever. I get it if it’s busy but no one was here and it was a Thursday morning.I will say the atmosphere is great. That’s why I give it 2 stars instead of just one. Sat outside on the porch and the coffee was delicious (even though they never refilled cups until I had to ask). I would recommend skipping this place and try somewhere else.

This an awesome hidden gem of a restaurant that you should check out. Very instagram friendly with a patio mimicking the umbrella road in San Juan. It was a classic Pittsburgh overcast day when I went, but I feel like this would be the perfect breakfast spot on a nice Saturday morning! I got the Mr. Green savory crêpe and it was great. A really light crêpe that was filled with a balanced amount of spinach and 3 cheeses and topped with a glaze of some sort. Overall, really a good place that will definitely fill you, but you’re still able to walk out feeling a little healthy. It was served with a side salad that was a little heavy on the balsamic, but to eat their own. I also got a cup of hot chocolate that was perfect for a slightly cool morning. I couldn’t taste the Nutella all that well, but as hot chocolates go, it was really good! Like I said, the back patio is where it’s at. You’re seated closer to other diners because they’re trying to maximize space and I think it’s always good to interact with strangers and to put down your phone, so it was a plus. It was kind of busy when I went so the kitchen was probably slammed, but i would definitely come back and show off this hole in the wall that everyone should visit.

Ordered here from uber eats. Was excited because Ive always heard good things. We ordered three salmon crepes and one sweet French toast. Everything was inedible because it was unbearably salty and the French toast (how does anyone mess this up?) was so dry we could barely swallow it.We called the restaurant hoping for some reconciliation but the chef took it personally and literally couldnt believe us that his food was too salty. The food ended at the bottom of my garbage bag 🤷🏻‍♂️. From the food to the service it was all so poor, and I will not be returning! If anyone would like a suggestion .... Just go to Gepettos Cafe on butler street for crepes and French toast.
