Ryan updated the memory for me on a pre built gaming PC. Hes knowledgeable,efficient, and courteous. You could go to best buy where the staff has half the knowledge as him and cost twice as much but, IMO hes the only store around worth taking your stuff to. Ryan is awesome and Ill be using only him for anything PC related in the future.

An unpleasant business runs by an unpleasant individual. Ryan seems to know computers however his customer service experience and his basic inter personal skills are non-existent. Rude, dismissive, arrogant, extremely opinionated to the point of implying annoyance with a customer’s choices. He allows his personal views on hardware leads him to dismiss customer experiences/needs/and wants out of hand. Holding a conversation with him is a trying experience as he forcefully interjects his opinions over the customer, often talking over a customer. Thoroughly unpleasant experience, why such an individual would gravitate to the service industry I cannot say. If you have the patience to deal with him I supposes he will eventually solve your computer needs with the four hours he puts in on an given day.I have found Best Buy employees to be more helpful.

When it rains it pours. I had an extremely busy and important weekend ahead and on Thursday morning my laptop stopped working. I brought it in and within 24 hours they had it back up and running 110%. Very professional and helpful while at a fraction of the cost and time a Geek Squad place would have been. Cant recommend these guys enough.

Ryan helped me tremendously as I navigated building my first gaming PC. Not knowing a lot, I had compiled a list on pc part picker and went over it with Ryan. He gave me a lot of insight into things I hadnt known or considered, steering me in the right direction as I purchased parts.Ryan generously offered to either co-assemble the PC with me or have him assemble it. I ended up assembling alone, but when it came to installing windows I ran into a lot of issues. After spending several hours on the internet and trying multiple approaches, I took a couple installer flash drives to Ryan and he helped troubleshoot the situation. After he spent some time working on it, I was able to install windows successfully.I couldnt have gotten my PC up and running without Ryans advice, help and encouragement along the way. I highly recommend you run anything by him. As a businessman of integrity, he will certainly point you in the right direction.

This will be a long review, so for a TL;DR: Ryan provided me with immediate FREE support over text, including additional tests I could run to troubleshoot my PC, what programs he uses to test this stuff, and ultimately correctly diagnosed my problem without demanding a dime. He encouraged me to ask any questions, and happily answered them all in a timely fashion. Now for the story. There I was, just finished building my new gaming PC, and I felt pure bliss playing video games for the two weeks that followed. Suddenly, my PC started to crash when running games. Like the whole computer just turned off, no error codes. I spent hours reading on forums, trying to diagnose the problem. Everything I tried failed, but I felt I was getting closer to the root of the problem. I wanted to get a professional opinion, so I tried contacting a couple of places in Pittsburgh but no one would see me for over a week. I texted the number on the voicemail from The Computer Stop and Im not joking, he diagnosed my issue after the first text. I couldve saved myself 12+ hours of reading forum posts by just texting Ryan what my initial tests showed. And he didnt charge me a penny. He told me my GPU was failing with confidence, so I pulled the trigger on buying another $400 piece for my PC. Lo and behold, Im once again back in gaming grace, and it wouldnt have been possible without Ryans help. Thanks Ryan, and I wish I could give you something more than this 11/10 review because honestly, I cant thank you enough. If I run into any problems again, I know for a fact Ill be back immediately.

When my personal computers screen went black earlier this year, I naturally wanted to see if it could be repaired before investing in a new one. After reading the glowing reviews of The Computer Stop, it seemed clear to me that Ryan was the best person in town to take a device such as mine and receive the knowledge, guidance, and insight on how to proceed, regardless of whether or not a successful repair was made.While Ryans in-person customer service, passion, and enthusiasm matched the reviews I read, several of his basic business practices have quite frankly been disgraceful, hence the poor review. Listed below are some of my concerns:1) He isnt present during his businesss posted hours of operation. As of this writing, The Computer Stop is open 11:00am-7:00pm on weekdays. After recently driving through rush hour traffic after work and feeling grateful that I arrived at his front door at 6:30pm with 30 minutes to spare, I was confused to find the door locked and the lights off. It seems to me that he could either leave a note on the door, update his hours of operation, or develop some other system that would better inform clients of his whereabouts so they dont waste their time.2) He isnt communicative. Despite carefully listing three different ways to reach him in his voicemail message (four, if you count text), my personal experience is that it takes several attempts to reach him through any means. It once took me five separate phone calls in order to receive a basic update on the status of my device after it had been in his possession for well over a month.3) He doesnt follow-through. When it was clear that my device would be unable to be repaired, he promised me in writing that he would refund me the $80 I spent to purchase a part that at the time he deemed necessary to make a repair but that he instead ended up using for another project. More than two weeks after promising to refund me by tomorrow or the next day, he has yet to do so. This is despite a follow-up attempt on my end that, given how hard it is to get in touch with him, unsurprisingly went unanswered.Given my experience, it seems that, in a city home to over 300,000 residents along with a growing technology footprint, you could find someone equally competent and passionate about computer repair services, with the added bonus of good business practices. Ill update if anything changes, but at this time I dont anticipate getting my $80 back.

We cannot thank Ryan enough for the good quality service and professionalism that we received at Computer Stop. He retrieved ALL the computer art files from a hard disk right before a submission deadline after Best Buy rejected the job. He did the work VERY QUICKLY!

Stopped in to see if anything can be done for my Merc Stealth keyboard that recently died.. For anyone that knows about these keyboards theyre not made anymore and those that are on the market cost around $500.Ryan stopped what he was doing and have it a once over. After his diagnostic and initial troubleshooting he gave me some options I could do at home....and they worked. Not only did he save me cost of having him work on the keyboard but he also saved me the $500 it would have cost me to replace the keyboard entirely. Had a watercooled pc that was having a boot issue along with some FPS issues. Took my PC into Ryan and within a few hours he had the issues all figured out and had a list of parts that i wanted to upgrade. I was on a time crunch and he was able to order parts and repair my PC in under 2 days. Each day he was able to contact me with a status update. When i went in to pick it up he was doing his finishing touches and we were able to sit and talk for a few. He has a dedicated customer for life. Great prices, great service, great guy!

I, for one, will not be shopping here EVER again. So far, I have had nothing but problems with my computer, have taken it in to have them fixed, paid good money to have the problems fixed, only to have them reoccur (sometimes accompanied by even more problems). But the last straw was just now, when my computer informed me that the copy of windows it is currently using is not genuine, and I will need to pay ~$150.00 ON TOP of the repair fees I have already paid to re-purchase the genuine copy that USED to be on my machine. Buyer beware indeed: the repairs that take place here are poor at best and downright fraud at worst.
