The name is VERY descriptive. Micro Diner is small. Shockingly, we were still able to find a table to fit the 5 of us who went there on a Saturday. Luckily, we picked an odd time that was later than most eat breakfast and before most eat lunch. What a good find!The service was good and friendly and though I didnt get a refill on my hot chocolate, they actually offer free hot chocolate refills, which I havent seen often (though I cant remember the last time I ordered a hot chocolate). The food was very good. Id definitely go back - especially since I love breakfast food and they did it well.
Cozy nice little place! I had the veggie omelet and it was super delicious!! It had green peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes and feta cheese. About 3 eggs and two slices of buttered toast!Continuous Coffee for coffee lover in the morning like me! Staff is very friendly and always talking and engaging customer! Highly recommend this spot for breakfast! Check out the killer view of Pittsburgh from the top of Mount Washington!
Micro diner is one of the best gems of Mount Washington, and generally Pittsburgh for a good breakfast. The hosts and servers are incredibly friendly, its easy to get lost and conversation with guests, and youll leave extremely happy.Food is excellent. I had the strawberry whipped cream pancakes, and tasted the sausage and egg sandwich and was incredibly satisfied. Definitely worth a try..
Great and quick service and the food looked delicious... But my potato pancakes were super garlicky and the eggs were cooked over easy but without any salt. But my boyfriend liked his and had no garlic problems so Id come back and try it again! Cute location and a fun where yinz from board in the back.
Flew in late from the West coast, still on Pacific time and we needed breakfast at 1:30 in the afternoon because stomachs dont honor time zones. This was a solid choice - the food was simple and tasty, very filling and came out fairly quickly. Our server was friendly and up for our questions and requests. Would definitely return when we are in the area.
Loved this place! The service was great and so was the atmosphere. 4 of us came here for breakfast. All of the food was excellent. I had the eggs benedict that had a cheese sauce instead of hollandaise and was SO good! I never saw that twist on eggs benedict, but I’m glad they did it. Others in the group had different pancakes and everyone was happy! I’ll definitely stop in here if I’m ever in Pittsburgh for a great, cheap meal!
My Mom and I were greeted with a smile and were told we can sit wherever we would like!!Kristie was our waitress, she was so kind, extremely helpful when we had questions regarding the menu and selections offered! She made our whole dining experience AmaZINg!!!Tracey cooked our food to perfection!!! I customized the Cinnamon French Toast and my mom customized the veggie breakfast sandwich! So to start things off I did come here around 11pm so I expect some drunk people to come stumbling in for drunk food but what my friend and I found was much worse. To start things off I ordered the meatloaf... it was decent but nothing to write home about and my friend got the French toast, again nothing special. Half way through our mean a man came in drenched in blood, dripping on the floor. The staff did not seem concerned, in fact they acted like they knew him. They walked back and forth from the bathroom to the door all the while dripping blood on the floor. At some point the police came in asking if there had been a stabbing and the waitress looked the officer in the eyes and said no stabbing here right after she cleaned up blood from the floor. Not only is that a safety hazard but also a sanitary hazard. I had high hopes for this place but the way they handled the situation I can safely say I will most likely not return. This place is probably great in the morning for breakfast but definitely not at night when I went. Over all decent food and good prices but the way the staff handled the situation was very upsetting.
They havent updated their Google listing to state theyre closed, but they definitely do not appear to be open.

I had the veggie pita which was excellent. The vegetables were cooked to perfection and still hot. It came with house cut fries which were also really good. My boyfriend had the buffalo chicken sandwich which he describes as a gigantic piece of all white meat chicken that was deep fried in a crispy breading with covered with tasty coleslaw and buffalo sauce. Our waitress, Samantha, was very nice and friendly, and she provided excellent service.
The service was very good. Except We asked for rye toast and got whole wheat. We ask for scrambled soft eggs and the eggs were way overcooked. I asked for the micro breakfast with two eggs I want to upgrade the sausage to Labriola sausage. I expect an extra charge no problem what I got was the three gg breakfast with the Labriola sausage. The problem with this is there was no way I got three eggs. The micro breakfast is $6.49 and the Labriola sausage is a $2.99 Add. I was charged $10.99. It should have been $9.48. I did not want three eggs and what I got was 1.5 at best of rubbery scrambled eggs. We have been here before and never had such issue. They will get one more try from us. If this would have been our first time we would not return. The cook is terrible. This was on 10-24-20. If dont upgrade inform the customer. Also just add the side of the Labriola for $2.99. Your response is unacceptable. You obviously do not care that we have visited every time we are in town. The $10.99 was a ripoff and you know it. As an owner you stink. I even paid cash as I was asked to. If you are trying to recover from being closed you need a better attitude.
The management at the establishment leaves much to be desired. I encountered the manager on duty being openly confrontational with her waitress, when the waitress was the only one on duty. Also, the food was edible. Thats about the only positive thing I can say about it. However, I gave it a second star because the waitress, Amber, was very attentive for being the only server there. She did a great job with what she was able to do.
Had breakfast here today 😊 our waitress was very nice and pleasant. The food was Okay, however I found hair in my food. I appreciate that they re-made my omelette but if not free I feel it should have been atleast discounted. The second omelette was more brown and dry. Hair in your food at any restaurant should be treated as unexceptionable. I only left a portion of the tip...

Two hairs in my food!! I ordered the “macro diner” meal to go, and when I took it home I found out that my homefries had not one, but TWO hairs in my food. I called the store immediately and they promised a manager would call me back. After no response I went into the store to speak directly. The manager refused to offer a refund, let alone an apology. She kept saying, there’s nothing I can do for you. What horrible service! No compassion or empathy. Mistakes happen but she immediately refused to hear my point of view or offer any solutions. Eaters beware!!
Dont go for dinner. Meatloaf tastes to much like thyme. Gravy was bland. The mashed potatoes were tasteless. I asked if they were fresh potatoes the waitress replied that they bake them peel them and then freeze them. When needed they make mashed out of them. Once frozen they are not fresh anymore. Plus this way makes mashed potatoes dry. I spent way to much at this place. Only eat breakfast there.
Quaint little place. Kinda small, not too small, but smaller than I expected. It is called the Micro Diner though. It was very clean, sanitary as you could want it.Not an upscale place, its definitely true to its name. It is a diner, and they serve diner style food, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Food was OK, not the best Ive ever had, but not the worst either. Also, food wasnt expensive, pretty good price for what you get.Service was good, no complaints there.All in all, nice little place. OK food at good prices with good service. Just be warned if youve got really bad claustrophobia, the walls are pretty close together near the breakfast counter.
Great people and excellent breakfast. Neighborhood setting with young and older customers. Ample counter if you are solo or just like chatting with fellow diners. Had the hash and can recommend as nicely browned before serving.

Unfortunately I wouldnt recommend this diner. While I was there, I witnessed the owner I think (or someone high on the chain of kitchen command) yelling at his servers for not being out in the dining area. I dont know the details of why he was yelling, and while he was probably justified, I think thats inappropriate to do in front of customers. It made me uncomfortable. Additionally, one of the people in our party didnt receive his food with the rest of us because of a paper receipt error. Our waitress only caught this error towards the end of our meals. Finally, another member of our party received an error with his order because of how the order was written and subsequently entered into the computer system. I also witnessed waitresses being hostile and angry towards each other. All in all, with the chaotic nature of the kitchen and inaccuracy of food delivered to our party, I wouldnt recommend Micro Diner.
Very at home feeling here. Food was nice and hot, and got made fast, even for the busier time I visited. A minor downside is it can get a bit cramped inside, but its no big deal. There staff was also very kind, and quick to wait on our small group. Fairly inexpensive as well, highly recommended for good breakfast food.
Ordered for delivery (Grubhub), and my sandwich was made wrong. Called Micro diner, the girl apologized and said she was making it and running it down to our house herself right away. When she got her she started apologizing right away about how it’s her first day on the line and she had trouble understanding the way it was on the computer. Everyone was so so nice and we so appreciated it and the food was delicious 😁
First time eating here today - the food was amazing, the place was quaint and cozy, and the staff was extremely helpful and nice! Will definitely be coming back!!!
My wife and I walked in and the place looked promising, like a cozy diner. We didnt know what to do (wait or sit), but a waitress told us to sit down anywhere. There werent any clean tables so we ended up sitting at a table that a couple just left. This wasnt really a problem because, hey - its busy, so it might be great, right? We sat there for a good 10 minutes before the table was cleaned and we were addressed again. The staff was friendly, but they were really slow in paying attention to us. It did seem like the other tables were getting normal service. We ordered some food. Pancakes for my wife and a Benny for me. While these items didnt have a thumbs up (customer favorites) next to them, we felt we wanted to see what this little joint could prove in their food.The food was luke warm at best, and to be frank, it wasnt anything I would recommend going out of your way for. If youre on Mount Washington, then make an effort to find another diner, and if you cant, stop in.

I ordered pick-up yesterday on grub hub, forgot my toast. This was better than the last time though (about 3 weeks ago), where they completely forgot about my order and when i got there, everyone just blamed each other and nobody took accountability. They had me wait about 30-40 minutes extra where they just rushed my order, since I waited over an hour in total.
They are not kidding with the name. The food however is fantastic. I had a Reuben, which Ive had all around the city, and this was definitely one Id order again. Four of us had lunch/breakfast together for about 40 bucks. Definitely worth it. Just leave yourself some time for parking.
The diner was quaint and the cook / server was very friendly. I went here for an early breakfast. I went here for breakfast and had an omelette which was very good. This is a total locals place.

Omelette and Eggs Benedict were very good, but the potatoes had no taste at all. I asked for crispy home fries and got hot hash browns that had absolutely no taste and were not even brown. If I ever go back, definitely will order something else.
Would come here every weekend night for the buffalo chicken sandwich. It is the best in town. The owners are amazing and soooo nice. The food is so good.
If you are looking for an authentic American diner style breakfast or lunch setting, go to the Micro Diner. You may have to wait outside for a table, but I promise it is worth it. We frequent this diner almost every weekend. I have not had one unpleasant experience. The food is always hot, fresh, and tasty with large portions. The staff work very hard and are extremely friendly. This business is a true gem. Would recommend 100x over and over.
I had lunch here today for the first time. The cinnamon French toast was absolutely perfect--custardy with no mushiness inside, perfect crisp crunch outside, delicious combo of vanilla and sweet cinnamon. I ate most of it without syrup, and its yummy with or without.Even better was the service! I wish I caught our waitress name, because she was the BEST. She was friendly, quick, friendly, attentive, and FRIENDLY. Im going to be a regular.

I need to come back and try breakfast. This is definitely NOT the place for dinner atop Mt. Washington. It has become clear that the micro in Micro Diner means microwave. That definitely seems how everything here is cooked. I made the mistake of ordering Chicken Parm and it was far from even close being good. I hear the breakfast is great, so I will give it another shot in the future. But for dinner Id recommend another restaurant.

Great place to grab a decent meal. Especially late. But breakfast is impressive. Portions are huge. Staff is always nice. Just know its a small place. Half a dozen tables and a bar setting.
The breakfast was really good and affordable. It got pretty busy pretty quickly but the staff remained friendly and attentive. The sausage was not to my liking, so 4 stars but overall would definitely recommend!

We were looking for gluten free and good, and found both at Micro Diner. The food and service were outstanding with a welcome to the neighborhood feel. We split a omelette with great local sausage and a couple GF pancakes. One of my best experiences of the weekend.
Solid food at reasonable price. The only one small problem were servers clothes. Just dirty. Come on. If you serve food, cleanliness is a must. Even In cheap place.

Obviously use the name “Micro Diner” to attract us millenials, not a microdiner, old school menu with disgusting food not cooked or seasoned. Any good reviews must be fake....wow...went there today at noon, and the food and service was the worst I’ve ever had.Pancakes tasted like they were from McDonald’s, sunny side eggs were well underdone, still liquedy with raw egg, and the potatoes must not have touched the pan, stone cold. Everything was bland.On top of that, service was slow, waitress in attentive( I was the only one in the place!!!) cook was obviously new, but still, how do you mess up that bad. Wow....don’t go here please
We were the only ones in the diner so we received lots of attention. The server was awesome... The food was freshly cooked. Yummy! Small but give it a try. You wont be disappointed.
The place is great for late night food (esp post a night of party) or if you were out on a date and it got late and now youre hungry. Its cosy, and after 2 totally packed. The food is not so great but at that hour anything works, so it doesnt taste as bad as it might otherwise.

I went there once and had a fabulous experience. however we went there today 09/27. & had to wait a horrendous amount of time for our drinks. We told the waitress our order. However she never plugged it into the system. So we waited over 1 hour before anyone noticed we havent had our food. So they asked our order again! And I asked for classic breakfast sammy with bacon I got sausage, my fiance got macro with sausage and he got bacon. The cook said she will cover both meals. I understand there is new people there and have to get them trained. Im just very disappointed! And highly doubt Ill be back!
My boyfriend and I stopped here for dinner one night. We were the only ones there. We were greeted immediately in a very friendly manner. The waitres was very helpful with the menu. I ordered a hot roast beef sandwich and my boyfriend had meatloaf with mashed potatoes. The portions are enormous. In fact his meatloaf dinner lasted 3 meals for him.The service was fantastic. The prices are very reasonable. The food was very good.There was only one thing that disappointed us. We ordered chili as an appetizer and it was much spicier than we expected and are used to. Thats not to say it wasnt delicious. But if youre used to milder chili as I am, make sure you order sour cream or cheese to put in it.We returned a couple months later on a very cold night just to get coffee and the waitress remembered us and greeted us very warmly.I would recommend Micro Diner to anyone and will return there when we are in the area!

We bought a groupon worth 60 dollars to be able to use and they would only allow us to use 20 dollars at a time. They would not even allow us to separate our checks in order to use our entire 60 dollar groupon voucher. Total sham and will be contacting groupon to see if they will refund our money. *Response to owner* Wow I felt bad for neglecting to put that we had great service while there so that was one positive part of the experience. However for you to respond to my post and call me greedy is absolutely ridiculous and beyond unprofessional. If there was fine print obviously I didnt see it. No1 tried to get over on you or your establishment, and although your staff is great you are not fit to be in the service industry. We will not be back and would rather have our other groupons for your establishment go to waste before supporting someone with your character. Stay blessed
Disappointing experience. Ordered through grubhub at 9 am. At 9:50 am I was told that when my driver showed up he was told that they gave the order away to someone else. Im assuming protocol would have had whoever got my order stating an order name or number but I guess that wasn’t the case. Grubhub reached out to them and they were told that the order was being remade. I was fine with this since it was a restaurant error that someone else was given my order. 10:20 am I am told “honey” if I want my order I can cancel and reorder... requiring me to pay twice. My order was canceled and I took my business to shellys.
Loved it, great menu selections and friendly staff. Food tasted great, and even though Micro was in the name it was spacious and easy to get a seat.
This place was amazing and catered to my friends that had food allergies (celiac and dairy-free) SUPER well! I highly recommend their Nutella Banana Pancakes (for those with no food allergies)! The next time I visit Pittsburgh, I know exactly where Im going!

Me and my 7 yo went on 1/4/20. Service was decent. But the food wasnt that great. The biggest disappointment was the french onion soup that had provolone and white american slices on top that was unmelted, due to being torched and not oven baked. My 7 yo didnt like the taste of the fries. The size of the diner didnt bother me. I plan on going back to try the breakfast.

We went twice, the first time the food and service were just ok. The 2nd time I went it was a train wreck, the manage had one girl in there running around cooking, taking orders while she was in the back doing whatever. You could hear her back there on the phone yelling. The girl on the floor just kept asking for helping. In her defense she was overwhelmed, but this was a management problem. Hopefully thats not a regular thing. This was tuesday morning (10-29 around 9:30 to 10am)

Delicious food at reasonable prices and friendly service are what youll find here. I have enjoyed the Micro Breakfast and the Italian Sammy breakfast sandwich when Ive visited. Both were fast to come out and wonderful to eat. The Labriola Sausage (a Pittsburgh thing) is fantastic on the sandwich. The location is also a huge plus. Public parking is across the street and the best view of Pittsburgh from Mount Washington is a very short walk away. Staying in Station Square or in the Golden Triangle? Do yourself a favor and take the incline up Mt Washington and enjoy the view and a good meal.

Went in for a quick breakfast before work and was blown away. Im a huge fan of the classic American diner and am hard pressed to find anything of the sort in the Burgh. My waitress was attentive and incredibly friendly, the cook was very accommodating and knowledgeable about his menu. I ordered a breakfast set with eggs, toast, coffee, hasbrowns, and corned beef hash. The hash was completely homemade (incredibly rare nowadays) and delicious to top it all off. I spent around $11 for a ridiculous amount of food. I will certainly be going back, and often at that.
We stopped by this morning after finding the diner on Google maps. So glad we did! Excellent, friendly service, great food & prices. Would definitely recommend stopping in for breakfast.
Not from PA. Wanted a bite to eat with the gf late at night, and found this gem. Was not disappointed. Great waitress, a light and relaxed atmosphere. Truly amazing food at a good price.
