My FAVE Restaurant in Pittsburgh! And it’s a BYOB. The food is fabulous each time whether I’m ordering my faves, Veal Parmigiana or Spots or trying 1 of ChefDan’s specials! And Dessert.... an absolute must! And there’s homemade fudge to finish it off.Every time we introduce friends to Legends, they love it too and can’t wait to come back!Chef Dan and his staff are #1 in Customer Service & friendliness. We love the intimacy and always feel like we’re with great friends because the staff is so friendly.Try it, you’ll love it!
This Restaurant is Great, i always order the same thing and its always Great, never made wrong always hot and fresh! I been coming here for a while now.. They really know what they are doing. when we get take out its always a great experience and dining in Even Better! Great selection of beers and food are always friendly.
Hidden gem! Everything was amazing! We we just looking for something to eat while waiting at the hospital. Had the chicken parm, and it was the best Ive ever had. Homemade pasta was really good ! Cant wait to try the rest of the menu. Service was awesome also. BYOB, so dont forget to bring a bottle of wine.
My husband and me have been going to this little hidden away jewel for many years. We have introduced many people to this fabulous restaurant. Everyone has always loved it. Its a small restaurant so reservations are a good idea on weekends. Everyone is homemade, down to the pieces of delicious homemade fudge that they give you at the end. The portions are very big. Must always take home a doggie bad, not for the dog but for us the next day. Their bread dipping sauce is out of this world. And you must always take home a piece of one of their homemade desserts. Mine is the apple pie. And whats really great about this place is its a B.Y.O.B. PLEASE GO CHECK IT OUT.
This is wonderful old school dining! What a great place to enjoy an evening of great food, expertly prepared, and great service even during these days of slim staff counts! Comfortable and cozy, house-made soups, composed salads, generous and delicious entrees prepared by talented cooks trained by talented chef Dan Bartow. All are invited to enjoy their favorite wine with dinner as this is B.Y.O.B. and the corkage fee is minimal. Try it on a weeknight! Parking is free and available on street. I look forward to returning!
Great place to eat. Friendly staff. Make sure you have reservations.
I ordered the Pasta Special on Saturday Night with friends. Since it was my first time at Legends, our server also recommended the Greens and Beans. We were all too full from dinner for dessert, but the fudge was an excellent finish to our meal.My husband and I cant wait to go back when were in town again.
The food was decent but the service was AWFUL. Definitely the worst service Ive had in a while. My server was never there and took forever to come back. And when I asked for boxes she took our plates in the back and put it in a small container. We had a LOT of food left over so I know they dumped some of it to fit in a smaller container. It actually made me upset and I will NEVER be returning and do not recommend it to anyone.
Thus far, this is the best italian restaurant Ive been to on the north side. Its a small intimate setting and the meal I got was absolutely delicious. Furthermore, my server was so delightful. Even though the kitchen was closing soon she allowed us to sneak in our order and let us know that shed be neck in 5 minutes for our order out of respect for the kitchen, but us enjoying our meal wouldnt be rush and to stay as long as wed like. She was kind, pleasant, and funny. I will most certainly be back.
Absolutely incredible, they accomodated us last min. We sat outside, originally concerned about service as we were the only people outside in a packed restaurant. I was thrilled that the service was actually must faster than anticipated, we had the greens & beans as an appetizer, so good! The gnocchi (homemade) was great as well. If your in the Pittsburgh area this is certainly worth a visit!
Our first time at Legends but will not be our last! Really good! I had the shrimp and mussels over fresh pasta in a white sauce. Simply fantastic! We were a party of six and each person’s dinner was delicious. Worth the drive from Washington County. We will be back! Highly recommended.
Be aware a 10% Covid 19 Surcharge is added to your bill.
Legends always has the best atmosphere for family or friends, excellent service, exceptional food, and great prices. Everything on the menu is delicious - my favorites being the blackened shrimp pasta, penne vodka, and beans and greens. I highly recommended this place. Must try.
First time trying this place out today and I ordered my food to-go.. Arguably the best Fettuccine Alfredo around the city!!
Great food and even better service. Karen, Sara and Jessica were a joy. Definitely coming back and telling everyone I know to come as well.
We four went for lunch. Everyone loved their food. I had eggplant, fried with melted parmaseon, tomato sauce over rigatonis. More than I could eat after the greens and white bean appetizer and a delicious mixed green salad. Prices are reasonable, atmosphere warm and comfortable end of December. We like this place and try to get in monthly.
How could I have lived in Pittsburgh and never gone to Legends? Excellent food at reasonable price. Very small so you could never have a party of 8 or 10.
Loved it! Great food, great service for a great price! Thanks
The best place to eat in the neighborhood of AGH. Come hungry, leave impressed at their attention to culinary detail. Taste buds: satisfied. Every time.
Loverly soup, and scrumptious apple pie
Fantastic homemade food. Staff is excellent.
We have been going there for many years for lunch and dinner. The quality and service is the best and never disappoints.
Outstanding service, outstanding food. Shout out to Karen for helping put it all together. Will definitely return
I don’t think I could say enough about this little hidden gem. Firstly, the food was absolutely delectable. To start, the focaccia with the herbed oil for dipping was just heavenly. Best Caesar dressing I have ever had and the chicken Romano was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of wine and lemon. Garlic Parmesan mashed potatoes and grilled veggies were very tasty as well. Service was fantastic! They even give you a little piece of homemade fudge at the end. I’d give 10000 stars if I could. Mmmm.
Food was exceptional. Totally enjoyed everything I ate. I had the shrimp and mussels with white sauce. The waitress was wonderfu. I will definitely be back
Very good food and it changes often. I have eaten there for under $40 (2people) but if we get full meals and their ridiculously delicious apple pie it will cost around $100. This is a BYOB which holds the price down, they have outside seating and very well spaced inside. If you want to order the apple pie I suggest you tell them when you order your meal. You may want to fast the next day or two if you do.
Service was terrible. Atrocious and the food was just ok. Never going back.
Cute little local place
Always good food.
Delicious food, fast service, kindest people youve met. For the prices too, I shouldnt get 2 meals out of one, but I sure do. You will never be disappointed when youre here.
A real Northside treasure. Sidewalk tables a great addition.
I rarely post reviews, but always read them, sorry! This place is worth mentioning a thousand times. Fantastic food and service, Chicken Romano was incredibly moist and tender, flavors just right. I had to take my apple pie home or I might not have ever left. You will not be disappointed here, and shame on you if this place isn’t on your (bucket) list! Bon appetite!!
Awesome time. Awesome food. And Awesome service!
The beans n greens were excellent! The sausage n polenta scrumptious 😋 Great Italian food!!
Good simple Italian food.
Wonderful, flavorful food - get takeout. Love their soup and beans & greens. You cant go wrong.
Great place to eat. The staff is very attentive and the meals are reasonably priced. Portions are generous. You can eat inside or outside. Theres carryout too. The waitress was upset that the kitchen put hot peppers (pepperchini) on my meal though I asked for only sweet peppers. She offered a free dessert, which I declined. She waived the corkage fee (its a BYOB) instead.
Absolutely delicious. Cute little restaurant with great service. Probably the best alfredo sauce Ive ever had. Highly recommend.
As soon as we entered Madeline greeted us with warmth and a big smile 😀 and it just got better with the wedding soup, entrees, drinks and fresh coconut cream pie for dessert. Well be back!
Three words.... CRISPY BRUSSEL SPROUTS!!!!!! Hands down the absolute BESTEST most amazing deliciously delightful brussel sprouts Ive EVER had! The Fettuccine Alfredo was beyond amazing, the kids penne with marinara was great and my boyfriend had veal parmigiana and he said it was delicious, too! We will be back again.... Thank you Legends!
My wife and I ordered a meatball sandwich. It was the best meatball sandwich I ever had. I mean ever. Service is great. Cant wait to go back there
I am upset with myself for living in north shore for a year without trying this place.New favorite italian spot In town hands down.
Always get takeout huge portions an extra midnight snack
Great food and service. Everything homemade.
So many reasons why they are 5 stars. Start with delicious food. Seriously, everything is delicious. We stopped by without a reservation and they couldnt take us due to capacity limitations. We patiently waited in the entry and finally just ordered to go. They were friendly, apologetic and even threw in free dessert (cannolis, OMG good). Definitely a return to place for us.
Food was great....our waitress Karen was phenomenal. Very pleasant and very attentive. Would definitely go back.
Was very good. Superb service too!
The service was great even though the waitress was running. The food was fantastic. We had the Spinach Ravioli, Chicken and Eggplant Parmigiana. Everything was tasty, the salad, bread and flavored olive oil were nicely presented. Reasonable prices. Definitely going back.
Grilled Chicken Ceasar Salad was amazing! Cant wait to try the Grilled Salmon Salad!
The food is always quick to the table, still steaming hot. Start with greens and beans. Our go to is either blackened shrimp with linguini or gnocci. Cant go wrong with chicken parm. Wait staff knows their stuff and are the best in town! Dessert is worth saving room for! Prob should call ahead for reservations. BYOB!
Are you Italian? Do you like Italian food? Then this is the place for you. My dna test revealed that I am only 2% Italian thus I am not entitled to give an opinion on the depth of combination of flavors and textures. Pasta and sauce is beyond my taste buds. I hope one day I marry an Italian.
Good service good food authentic taste definitely will be backPrices high for the area
So good!! I made a reservation with no problem at all, and glad I did. It got super busy, but the food is amazing so no wonder! I got the gnocchi bolognese, but with the tomato cream sauce instead which is to die for!! My step dad is never impressed with Italian restaurants because his mom is from Italy, but he said the food here was awesome. Service was so great, and everything was just amazing! Will hopefully be returning
Finally decided to try this place and got take out. I was absolutely shocked at how little food I got for 50 plus dollars, it was pathetic. Kids meals for my daughter are larger at 99% of places compared to what I paid 20 some dollars for a meal. Pretty insulting, wont be back.
I had the best salmon of my life. Everything was fantastic and the customer service and hospitality was even better. Glen was our sever and he was amazing and Dan (Chef and Owner) came by to each individual table to get to know the patrons. Dan gave me a special hot sauce to take home. I highly recommend this place to anyone!
Great place for an excellent meal. They always excell to please and I have always had great service and the dinning experience is impeccable.
Best little gem .Great service and prices and delicious food. If you are at the Allegheny hospital for tests or visiting someone, try out this place ...its on the corner a great walk across the street from the hospital and really a wonderful place. Everything is made fresh and they have a great special every day.
Having eaten at pretty much every restaurant in Pittsburgh... Legends remains at the very top of my list of best restaurants. I have eaten here countless times over the past 15 years or so and I have NEVER had a bad meal and that’s not fair... I’ve never had anything less than a SUPERB meal. I can not recommend any more highly this restaurant. I’m looking forward to my next visit!
Awesome food. Great staff.
Absolutely some of the best food in the city. This was our first time there. The staff was top notch. It had a Manhattan vibe and blended the feel of grandmas house at Sunday dinner. We will definitely be going back!
Great food at reasonable prices. Outstanding friendly service.
The food IS Legendary! The staff is awesome! The owner is perfectly engaging when you walk in! Well done eatery!
Ive eaten here twice now and both experiences were wonderful. After leaving a different restuarant that had over-booked their reservations on Valentines day, I called Legends in hopes that they had a spot for two. The lady I spoke with on the phone was super helpful and we were able to dine here (saving our Valentines day). The food was amazing and the staff was super friendly!!
The food is always fresh and delicious, staff members hands over fantastic customer service. I really like how clean it is and character. Will come back again.
The food was excellent and the service was superb! $4 corking fee per person regardless of whether or not you drink, so you may as well bring a bottle of wine. Also, no prices listed, so be prepared to spend a little bit of $$. Totally worth it, though.
Delicious food and great service
The best dipping oil!
Not my favorite place, not at all actually. The food had a microwave-like consistency and it was warm at best, not to mention that it tasted weird too. The tables gave you almost no space to eat your food, it was a very loud environment Ill give them some slack though because its pretty popular. The service was mediocre (in my opinion). One of their redeeming qualities would be the dessert, still didnt like the place though.
This restaurant was excellent! The food and service was the best! You do you need reservations. Fresh homeade Italian food at its best! Small but memorable!!!
It’s small, but that helps with the home style food and atmosphere they have in the restaurant. Their hot sauce is some of the best I’ve ever had and wish I could take bottles of it home. Their food is amazing. Again it’s small so expect a wait if they are busy but it’s worth the wait!
Quaint venue in an old corner candy store. Italian-American menu. Food was excellent. Coconut cream pie big enough for two. Friendly diner atmosphere. BYOB.
Chicken Romano was amazing.
One of my favorite places to go. The specials are always so tasty. Also BYOB. Definitely a place worth checking out
Love this place!!!! Everything I have had is excellent. Service is outstanding. Especially love their mussels and chicken dishes.
Its kind of odd how people dont mention this restaurant as much as I think that they should. They easily have the best vodka sauce in Pittsburgh! Service is personable and nice. Restaurant boasts a quaint, European-style eatery but the floor is a little crooked. Besides that, the food is excellent - no complaints!
Great family-owned feel to the place. We just did some basic apps, but they were all really good. The bruschetta, which felt more like a flat bread was really nice with freshly baked bread. Didnt get the dessert but the desserts looked amazing. Also very convenient from Allegheny General Hospital, and quick for visitors waiting to go back to loved ones.
Quaint, delicious, and friendly. Youll need a reservation, but its well worth it. Prices are fair. Portions are generous. Dessert is the best weve had.
First visit was today for lunch and took home dinner entrees for the family. Everything was amazingly good - Mama’s Gravy may have been the best marinara sauce I’ve had. Also excellent were the balsamic dressing, blackened cod, spinach ravioli and vodka sauce. We will be back!
Lovely, small, intimate. Charming, grandmamas house feel with Tiffany style lighting and antiques all around. Food was just wonderful, traditional, flavorful. Pretzels, schnitzel, sauerkraut, all the way to the spicy mustard and apple butter and sauerkraut relish. Our first time there. Waitress was gracious and helpful.
Very good lunch soup and sandwich, a few outside tables.
Great food. Everyone enjoyed their meal. BYO. Service is friendly and welcoming. One of our favorites.
Holy craaaaaaaap this place is awesome!!! Small old school style diner with a small selection of sandwiches, salads and pasta but the food is amazing. I got the godfather sandwich.
Very warm and tentative staff. The shrimp and mussels with linguine was terrific. The chicken parmigiano had an excellent sauce but the chicken wasnt seasoned. We got wedding soup and it had absolutely no flavor and there wasnt any salt on the table to remedy that problem. We expected much better food for $50 plus tip.
One of the best Italian eateries in Pittsburgh. Although very limited space and BYOB; this place has the most amazing plates. Only old school Italian cousine but good to the last but. Perfect sounds and perfect desserts to bind a perfect meal.
Easily the BEST ITALIAN FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD. Eat here! You won’t regret it
My salmon salad was awesome. Greens were crisp, salmon was cooked perfectly, dressing was solid as well. Janet is great. I recommend Legends 👌
Cozy place, kind atmosphere, prompt service, excellent food, patient staff, and relatively easy parking and quick access back to 28.I appreciate your existence
Our server was amazing! Food was well worth the trip and the price. Fresh and portioned perfectly. Would definitely make the trip again.
The people working here were great and its a very nice place. We enjoyed all the food we tried, especially the pasta and seafood. My wife and I both tried separate daily specials. My pork chop tasted really good but was overcooked and dry. I wouldnt of cared so much but when I got the bill the specials were both $38 a piece which was pretty much double the price of the other dinner offerings on the menu. The surprise was my fault for not asking, but a $38 pork chop should be prepared perfectly. The desserts are huge!
Great service and the food is fabulous!
I ordered the spaghetti and meatball dish, and it was the best meatball Ive ever had. Everything was delicious, and Ill definitely be back, next time Im in town!
I love this place! The food is always a flavorful masterpiece! Delicious daily specials. Great place for dinner before going downtown to a show. Oasis while visiting anyone in AGH. The polenta is the best anywhere. And the piece of fudge at the end of your meal is awesome! Favorite dinner out spot!
