Were lucky to have such a nice jewelry store in Placerville. I initially stopped in to see what they had, with the intention go purchasing from a bigger store in a bigger city. But after spending a few minutes with the owner, I was delighted to discover that they not only had very nice merchandise (high quality & beautiful), the prices were also reasonable. And my wife loves it! So Ive continued buying her gifts there, and they never disappoint.

I had a beautiful opal gem and they made me a wonderful gold ring setting for it from scratch. They involve me the whole time with the wax mold to approve and then the final product was exactly what I wanted and I love it! I’ll be able to pass it down to my daughter!

My husband and I always brought our watches down there for repair or to have new battery put in. My husband has a New Orleans Saints watch its very sentimental to him and hes taking that watch three times now to have the battery changed. Will I took it in this morning and the owner was not able to remove the back of the watch keep in mind that he was the one that tightened it the last time we were in there and now he said nothing he can do. He told me that hes got $2,000 worth of work that he has to do on other watches that he didnt have time for mine. How awful that is to treat your customers that way

Bought many peices of the estate rings, and a beautiful 2mm box chain. Love them all! Had to have the rings sized, they did in shop and was able to wear the same day. I love that as no one wants to wait to wear a new ring.

Brought some melted down jewelry to these people and they said it wasnt good and wouldnt even test it . The lady that didnt even really help us was a rude bi*h

My family contracted Jim from Ancient Gold to make a custom gold pendent from an existing piece of jewelery we gave him to copy. We said We want to make a copy of this pendent. Jim communicated complete confidence in his ability to reproduce the pendent. After $150 the product he produced was not a copy of the original at all. When we complained he blamed us for not being clear about what we wanted. I asked him if he remembered us asking for a copy? He said yes but that it was impossible to reproduce. When I asked him why he took the project when we asked him if he could make the copy he said my request isnt reasonable. When I confronted him for not turning down a project he couldnt do just to get my money he blew me off and said hed make the pendent smaller if I wanted so it would be closer to the original but to make a mold for a production of the exact same charm would cost me $150. When I reminded him Id already paid $150 dollars and asked why he didnt make a mold to begin with he said you didnt ask me to. I dont know how to be any more specific than asking for a copy! Its pretty straight forward.

My son who is serving in the Navy in New Orleans was home on leave for Thanksgiving and purchased an wedding set at Ancient Gold. He and I had talked prior to his visit and he expressed the frustration in being able to purchase the kind of ring his fiance wanted at the right price. I popped into Ancient Gold and asked Jim for some help. He right then and there researched what we were looking for and gave me a price quote. A couple weeks later my son and I went into the store and Jim was beyond helpful. He was on the phone with several different people getting the best possible deal and quality product for my son. We walked out extremely please and happy that we purchased the engagement ring as well as the wedding band and his wedding band at Ancient Gold. Very personal, hometown, true customer service! I highly recommend this business.

I have been dealing with Jim and Jen for years. I have always been satisfied with items we have bought from them. I have had a number if pieces of jewelry made by them and they all turned out fantastic. There prices are always reasonable. I always stop in the store when I am in Placerville.My wife and I visited the store on our anniversary on the 28th of Dec. We were there to pick up a couple of pieces of jewelry that they repaired. I also bought my wife an anniversary present that she loved.

Bought an overpriced ring here a few years ago. They lost it while having it resized. Finally got it. Now a few years later I try to trade it in for something else and they inform me its not worth much and they dont want it. Will never give them my business again.
