I usually dont write reviews, but its time I got over it and said hi. Over a year ago I brought my brand new Sony A7III to Mike of Advanced Camera Repair Service because I thought it was behaving strangely. It exhibited banding and strange colors during playback. Mike looked it over and gave me some advice on using my camera better. We spoke briefly about his repair policies and service offerings and his career in electronics repair. I could tell he really loved his work and helping people with their gear. He just had that glow and presence about him when he spoke. He couldnt find anything wrong with my camera, so I thanked him and went home. He wouldnt take any money for the inspection and training. The next day, I received a follow up call from him out of the blue making sure everything was ok. I had already figured out that the strange colors and banding were a combination of odd lighting and the inability of that particular computer moniter to display all the colors. A different display, a TV in this case, verified that the camera worked perfectly all along. Mike helped me with a camera inspection, a few minutes of basic camera training, and incredible follow up even though I was clear all along that my brand new camera was still under warranty. The whole experience felt like a beautiful zen poem acted out in real life, and if I ever have issues with an out of warranty camera or other item that Advanced Camera Repair Service can fix I will take it there first knowing they really care.

I searched locations in the Chicagoland area. The owner of this shop does very good work, has reasonable prices, and stands behind his shop warranty. (He just repaired my lens for a different issue on the house). My second repair took him less than 5 hours from the time I dropped it off. Keep in mind, if he needs to order parts from a manufacturer that the lead time will be 6-7 days due to THEM, not the shop owner. Highly recommend his services.

Had a Canon DSLR that was having a mic input issue, took it to Mike and right away and diagnosed the problem correctly very quickly. Got the part ordered and despite the part being back ordered, he was very great communicator throughout the whole process. He let me use the camera until the part arrived and when I took it in the repair was done in about a day which was super fast. Highly recommend him and if I have more issues with other devices in the future Ill be heading back!

This business is in a very rare category. Mike from Advance Camera repair is extremely personable, has a legitimate passion for a happy customer, and is highly skilled. Knowing that we do not like to be without our toys for long his turn around time is incredible.I purchased a refurbished camera from Canon and it came with dust on the pentaprism. Canon advised me to use a blower on the mirror and all that did was send more dust to the pentaprism resulting in more specks in the view finder. I brought the camera to Mike and in less than 24 hours he did a full cleaning. the sensor and view finder optics are flawless.

I needed to get my sensor fixed and Canon was extremely expensive and would have taken 2 weeks. As I use my camera daily, that was not possible. I brought my Nikon D 80 in for service, I was having several issues with my camera not focusing correctly. That night I received an email with the estimate to repair my camera and my VR 200 mm lens. I was having issues with both of them. Three days later I had my camera back. Today I took it out and used it and it worked perfectly! Thank you for the great, friendly service.
