They can never get a delivery schedule right. i work at at a commercial building and we need to get delivery every week. we always run out and have to get a delivery when we run out. which then entails me having to bleed the burners every week

Overpriced oil.Poor Customer Service.Only concern is to sell overpriced contracts and deliver oil automatically when it is not needed. If you dont like your money then sign up to work with General Utilities aka Petro. My own ineptitude caused thousands of dollars to be wasted in paying for expensive oil.Go with a COD company and your pockets will be the better.Stay away from this dishonest company.

I became a customer in December 2019, on a new home I purchased. The previous owner used this company so I figured it would be easier. From Dec-Present (April) I have never experienced a more incompetent company. First, I was getting an oil delivery too frequently. I called to ask about this and they said they are establishing a pattern. I called then numerous time for account information since I have never once received any sort of statement. I was told I am not receiving a statement because I am paying the bill too quickly. This makes no sense. I also tried to set up my account online but it asks for specific numbers which are only found on a statement and not a receipt left on the door knob that I get. I have been requesting a statement for months, have sent email, and no response. I desperately want to get out of this contract.

Long time customer, Went with the CAP oil price contract . They kept charging the cap limit every time even when the price per gallon was down .50 cents . My wife and I had to call after every delivery to get the bill corrected . That worked for a while intel they basically said no tough you have to pay our prices, not the going rate, if you want to talk to a manager they will call you back, managers never got back to you . I hope the money they took for me made them a fortune ! We are with a reputable company now ...Thank God

Terrible terrible customer service, had to call all the time and super espensive. We insisted multiple times to deliver oil every 2 weeks and never happened. They waited until i was always almost out to fill up with crazy bills of 800s. I breached contract and asking for 600 fee.. the guts!!!! I will be contacting the general manager and good luck waiting for your termination fee. I am so happy i wont be dealing with this people anymore.. other companies much much cheaper.

The driver called the cops on my 12 years old son after.he answered the door because the gate was locked. Nobody was home at the time to unlock it. The driver said a 4 year old was walking around on the driveway and street. I just pulled up to the house 7 mins before the cop showing up. All a false report and he couldnt mind his own business!

Worst customer service ever! Unreliable, cancel appointments on you, dont call, show up outside the window. The 1 phone call I did receive that the driver was on the way and I would be the 1st stop - 2 hours later still never showed up! HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, OVERPRICED AND HORRIBLE SERVICE. Did not even want to give 1 start but did not have an option to give ZERO stars.

I am a current customer of General Utilities/Petro and have been for about 10 years.... I have 2 oil heating units in my home one is the main unit and one is a water pack heater... I have had a service plan discussion every year and have paid $199 for both units always having a discussion about it... Last/this year they had no discussion with me and only spoke about my oil pricing... This year without my knowledge or approval i went from $199 to $738.32 a difference of $539.32 once again with no discussion or approval... I am appalled after being a great customer always carrying a credit with them that they would do this to me. I have asked for an adjustment to my bill and have been told that PRICES GO UP and YOU GOT A GOOD DEAL ALL THOSE YEARS SO WHATS THE BIG DEAL can you imagine? This is why General sold out to Petro and has a 1 star rating.... you guys have until the end of my contract to adjust my bill and set things right 7-31-2020 or IM OUT.... you all should leave too!!! too bad i cant give 0 stars!!! and i see im not the only one they have stolen fromelizabeth Medina10 months ago-I have been with General since 2012 loved them. Pricing was always fair, easy to schedule tune up oil appointments, customer service was great. However, everything changed when they merged with P. Employee Karen Puleo went ahead and enrolled me in automatic payment without my consent. I have tried speaking to a supervisor in regards to this to no avail. I have emailed this employee no response she went ahead and debited over $600.00 without my consent charging me with a new contract that I have not agreed to. Lets see if someone gets back to me this week. Customers be weary. Its also a hassle now to schedule tune up appointments what a shame. Will now pay cash on delivery.

I am been a General customer through at least 3 seasons perhaps 4, and have never had any major problem with them. They are always courteous, always respond if I have a problem which could be a lack of heat, oil leak from burner, strong smell, or smoke. I am a homeowner for 4 decades, and General was not our first company-I honestly like them better, the others were also major LI household names, never small outfits. If I have a problem I KNOW I do not want outside contractors, and always ask for a General employee. Yes, once a problem was not fixed at first, and another repairman was sent back a bit later. The end result was satisfying, isnt that what counts? There have been times I request a delivery when I am not scheduled and they comply. I prefer my tank never to go below 1/4. I do receive a call prior to any delivery since access is behind a locked gate. And yes, at one time it was impossible to pay a bill on-line, but that is no longer the case.Ive read all the negative comments and felt General deserves a positive comment. Price is always an issue, one of the reasons I left my last company 4 years ago.

I had high hopes for this company! Paid for a service contract for 4 central air units. First problem- one unit was leaking and they said I had to pay for a pressure test (and Freon of course!) Another day- waited for their second technician who came after the allotted 4 hour time slot! He spent 2.5 hour (they were charging by time), and concluded that I needed a whole new system! (unit and air handler). Because he was rude, I decided to get another opinion. In 10 minutes the leak was easily found and fixed, saving me THOUSANDS on an unneeded new system!! Initially, General was extremely apologetic and promised me an immediate refund of the unused part of my service contract. After SIX WEEKS of repeated emails and phone calls, I finally got a PARTIAL refund of about 60%, less than promised. Of the charges they deducted, included was the opening of the broken unit!!! DO NOT USE THEM!!!

Been with General since moving out here in 98. I have their Security service too which has been good. They were wonderful with their annual service contracts. Always worked with me for the best prices when it came to renewing my annual service. Now since they bugged and contacted me with calls for renewing with their current rate, I cant get back in touch with them at all to follow up, service or even my contract receipt! Their phone lines are not working. Youll be on hold until the phone line goes off the hook. Horrible!

I have oil and service contract with them. They are suppose to do one maintenance service on my boiler. However they refuse to do it after one year which is due now . They wanna do it after 15 month. They say we do not do service in February, however they did service my boiler in February last year. They just say whatever that serves them well and not to the interest of customer. Very dishonest. I will seek another oil company for sure.

Their website is horrible. When I first signed up with them I created an account on their site. The first time I went on the website to make a payment it told me that my user name and password were incorrect and couldnt log me in even though I just created the user name and password no less than two minutes before I went to log in and make my payment. I had to call customer service and was on hold for over 15 minutes. I received a letter in the mail that they created new account numbers and that I would have to re-register my account. So I re-registered my account with the new information and when I go to sign in to make a payment, Im getting the same message that my user name and password are invalid, so I had to call customer service, again. This time I was on hold for around 20 minutes before their hold music just stopped and I realized the call was ended. I called back, AGAIN, and was on hold for another 15 minutes before my call was answered. The lady who anwered my call was very nice, but couldnt help me and took down my number to send my request to the IT department for a call back. I am giving two stars because the lady on the phone was very nice and I know the issues I am having with the GU website are not her fault.

I have to agree with the other poor reviews. I had a contract with General which included oils service contract. Then I got a bill for 324.00 in the mail for a oil service contract plus being charged for higher oil prices. when your contract runs out they continue to deliver but a much higher rate. They dont inform you that your contract has run out they just deliver at a much higher rate

Petro truck show up today 12/7/18 not a General truck. Drops 101 gallons at 389.9 and gives me a bill for $396.92. My contract at 229.9 a gallon ran out a couple of weeks ago. Without signing they dropped oil at higher than current market price of 338.9. I should mention I never received a letter letting me know my contract expired. Goodbye General or should I say Petro. Lawmakers need to look into Monopoly Petro has on Long Island oil. They have bought almost every oil company here.

The failed to give delivery of oil on auto delivery - I didnt realize it was no oil. The changed the time of the service call to 11 at night - five hours after I called in without telling me . Was given enough oil for day and half and supposed to get delivery day after thanksgiving - took day off from work to be sure I was around if oil went out before deliver. called in to see where oil was and then told delivery was going to be next day in single degree weather - and then cant get hold of supervisor or oil depot to see what can be done - and cant stay on the phone until supervisor is free. Still no response. and no oil.

Ive been with them for 8 years and Im done with them forever after this contract. Always fighting with them. I ask for 200 gallons they tell me their meter is broken and I get 250, they deliver after a contract is over if the rate is higher without telling you. Constant battles with them. Then I ask for a delivery of 150 gallons and they tell me I have to fill up my 550 gallon tank. Ugh. Im so fed up with them.

HORRIBLE! Ive had this company under contract for less than 4 months. I repeat HORRIBLE. They dont explain in the contract until after that its auto delivery of oil and the refuse to let you cancel it even if you dont need the fuel. Their contract cancelation fee is outrageous, the customer service is rude as anything. When the driver came to make an unannounced delivery less than a month after their previous delivery, I tried to speak to him to tell him we dont need it and he pretended he didnt see me even though he clearly looked right at me and heard me calling. They claim to have 24 hour service for your burner in case you have any problems, and when we did have problems we scheduled an appointment and they didnt show up. They claimed they showed up at 11 pm ON A WEEKDAY. Meanwhile, we were up and about the house until about 11:30 and no one came by or knocked on the door. We werent able to get anyone there for several days and wound up fixing it ourselves. AVOID them. They are awful in every way

I hope this helps someone before they make a mistake with General. So I signed with them for a year contract and at the time they were offering a good price. A year goes by and now only a few weeks remain in the contract. I went to turn on my oil burner because it started to get cold and it didnt work so I called service. When they sent someone it was a contracted company. They fixed the issue and measured the oil in the tank which was 2.5 feet (165 gallons of a 275 gallon tank9. The next day the oil burner broke down again so I called again. While requesting a service call I asked when i was scheduled for my next delivery. They told me there was nothing in the near future scheduled. Later on another guy came, it was a General employee. He fixed the issue and was out in a few minutes. I called to ask that my contract not be auto renewed since i was going to sign with someone new since they couldnt match the price. This was 2 weeks before the contract ended. The Mark in pricing on the phone. He seemed nice and was asking what made me decide to not renew. I told him there was another company that was cheaper, he asked who and I told him. Twenty minutes later I got a call from Kathy who accused me of breaching contract and threatening with the breach of contract charge. I told them that I absolutely did not say I have already had another company service me, but I planned on it once the contract ended. She rescinded the threat. Next week out of nowhere a truck came and made an oil delivery (even though the rep i spoke to said there were no scheduled deliveries anytime soon). On the bill it said Please top off tank before SLP expires on 11/6/TY. I thought it was pretty shady that even though I did not have a delivery scheduled, they rushed to make a delivery since i cancelled and they wanted to get any money they could before end of contract. The even more disturbing part, if there could be something MORE disturbing than what they were already doing, they delivered 126.3 gallons. Now, keep in mind I am no mathematician but they measured 165 gallons 8 days prior to delivery. The weather was warm and they heat usage was very little. If they delivered 126.3 gallons I would have had 291.3 gallons in the tank. The tank only holds 275 so that couldnt be possible. Also, I was told by Michelle in the pricing that the tank only gets filled to about 250 because their needs to be some room in the tank. That would mean that I am 41.3 gallons over the amount that should be in the tank. When I called all they would tell me is that it is impossible and that I was below normal usage of someone with the same size house. They would not address the fact that I gave them a starting number and the numbers of how much they supposedly put in. I have reported them to consumer affairs but i would suggest that if you go with this company, do not ask for them to not auto renew until the last day of your contract. They will rush to put oil in or perform any service they can to get money out of you before you leave. BEWARE!!!!!!!
