The rudeness of the manager is astounding. I’m assuming the lady with glasses, a blondish pony tail and no customer service skills is the manager. The other ladies especially the one who checked me out was amazing. We laughed, it was great. Maybe the manager needs a laugh as well. FYI, If you choose to sit things on the floor for others to touch, especially toddlers and kids, YOU are taking the risk of something happening to it. Not the customer. That is a choice you made. And yes, it was “UNBELIEVABLE” the manner isn’t which you spoke to me and my 2 year old. You could have easily removed the swing the first time I removed her from it. But you chose not to. My hands were full, you provide no bags and no type of assistance. Again that is a risk YOU take, when YOU decide to display something on the floor. I do hope she was just having a bad day and this is not how she normally speaks to customers, but upon reading previous reviews I feel it is a daily occurrence.

Manager was extremely rude. I remained polite and left, but will never be back. Children’s Closet down the road has a great selection and has the most polite employees. It’s worth the extra 5 minutes to go to a place that cares!

Two of the workers (I believe one is a manager) were extremely rude. I’ve never had a once upon a child staff treat me like that. I would recommend going somewhere else it’s really not worth the hassle of it all.

Well organized and neat. But way overpriced. I couldnt believe how expensive some of the things . Some of the items where more the new prices at the store. My boys found a toy that was 6$ more then new one and it didnt have any of the accessories with it. There was a bike that was $5 more then walmart. Theyre asking almost full price for toys that are the same price or alittle more and tbe stuff in the store comes with all accessories where theyre selling rhem without anything clothes are not much less then brand new i found 2 shirts that where from walmart for more them walmart was asking.

8-16-21 First time being there and the last, My friend being going for years and the rudeness from the lady was uncalled for.. I couldnt believe how my friend got treated.. I wish I could give them triple dislike, but I cant.. This is the one in PC by books a million, if there is another one go there cause this one is off the chart with rudeness..

Finding great items wasn’t the issue. It’s a great store for finding good quality things for cheap. But yesterday we came in and spent $100+ on shorts for my daughter, school shorts being half of them. There weren’t many in the girls section so we checked the boys section which had more, thought we had to size up since boy clothes are usually bigger, they’re the same size.. So I tried to return them today, less than a whole 24hrs later, they won’t take them back without the tags. I HAVE the receipt though. They pulled up the price for each item I was trying to return on the computer, checked them off the receipt and said they couldn’t take them back because there were too many items on the receipt. So that’ll be the last time I spend money in there. Wasted $17 on shorts that are now truck decorations. They were nice enough to offer to buy them back from me for 30% 😂

This store is awesome for finding diamonds in the rough! I always leave with great treasures. That being said, I’ve run into the same issues on every visit. One, they overcharge for brands that shouldn’t be priced that high, like Dot Dot Smile and Matilda Jane. While I understand they can’t be priced at the normal price points of $3.50-4.50, asking $12 for a Matilda Jane dress with heavy wash wear and some pilling isn’t accurate either. I wouldn’t mind paying $7.50-8.50 but I feel like at OUAC, you shouldn’t have to pay $12-14 for anything in the clothing section (with a few exceptions, but very few). Shoes are the same. A dirty, worn pair of Mini Melissa sandals simply aren’t worth $12. Neither are a pair of beat up Vans. Maybe $6.50 but that’s it.Second, they use multiple plastic tag fasteners in every item. Sometimes upwards of 5 tag fasteners. That creates HUGE holes in the clothing. On my most recent trip, three times had 4 or more and they actually price gunned the plastic fastener through two layers of clothing. It was as if they carelessly priced and didn’t even try to be cautious. If you’re charging me $8.50 for a small shop dress, could you try not to put numerous holes in it?I haven’t sold to this location but I will say the positives outweigh the negatives. Sadly, people think because they’ve got NWT Carter’s or Nike that they should get what they paid. That’s not how it works. Even with high end boutique brands like Matilda Jane or Eleanor Rose, you’re not getting more than a few bucks for your item. Negative reviews from people that erroneously believed they were going to get hundreds of dollars for their clothing aren’t fair to the store or to consignment in general. Those folks need to understand how it works before they bash a location simply for operating appropriately.

Absolutely love this store. They dont pay much when buying but most of their items for sale are a great price. They always have a great selection and they get new things in constantly so definitely stop by often!

Dont get me wrong the girl that checked me out was very nice. But the one who was sorting the clothes today wasnt. Also had clothes that had tags still on them and shoes, didnt even take them, yet I seen clothes with stain, holes and that looked like it wasnt washed. Waste of a drive and my time...

I brought a basket of cloths of up there, most cloths still had tags and ones that didnt still have never been worn and shoes still with tags most name brands even jordans and Nikes, Im convinced they didnt even go through the cloths bc they was still flooded the way I folded them, said they was stained. Took them to another location they bought all of them. I even purchased some cloths from them and when I asked where was the cloths I purchased I was told they was in the basket, I get home they are not in the basket, I called and asked them where was the cloths and they said we didnt ask for them that they was still at the store and the women on the phone even had the nerve to blame my husband! Said he asked for the cloths back that we was selling and he didnt! Looks like Im not the only one whos had this problem recently! They need to get their staff in check or hire people that atleast act like they care about what they are doing. After reading the rest of these recent reviews, the owner needs to do some serious firing!

We love Once Upon A Child! The staff is usually friendly at the Port Charlotte location. We love the prices of most of the items, but some things are not priced comparably. We like their rewards program. We like their clearances even more. We will definitely return!

Im a frequent customer. They have an awesome selection of clothes and essentials for children. I love that I can trade my babys gently used items and get her new things discounted. It helps me save money and keep my house from exploding with baby stuff. The ladies who work the counter are always super friendly and patient. I always recommend the store to every mom I meet.

Great prices, the store is always clean. You can always find something for your little one. Shopping here relieves a lot of stress about buying clothes for your kids when you know they are just gonna get destroyed buy young kids. They even buy your kids old clothes. Make sure you bring them clean and nearly folded. They prefer them to be in a laundry hamper or tote.

Kids grow so fast, I buy and sell clothes and toys here regularly. I make an afternoon of this place with my daughter she loves dressing up. Its always clean and organized, the staff are helpful and friendly.

Normally Im really pleased with this location however the younger girls working were extremely rude. Asked a quick question about the current sale and was met with rudeness and snappiness. Highly unprofessional especially for a store that sells kid items and clothes. They say they wont accept any stained clothes, falling apart shoes, or items missing original pieces. Yet when I was in there i saw quite a bit of that, yet they wont take my like new in season clothes in sizes they lack in? I have to say Im quite disappointed with what this store has become all around since i first started shopping here.

I only come in here to buy clothes that are brand name and seems completely new for a good price, usually twice a year.This store is smaller and limited in quality, compared to the Fort Myers or Cape Coral store; but thats because we arent exactly a city.

This place is the best! Great customer service, all items are incredibly organized. A wide selection of everything you can think of, top notch toy section!!!! All my boys’ Tonka trucks are from here, mint condition, sometimes still in manufactures box, and a 1/3 of the retail price. Their clothing selection is pretty good and priced accordingly; the better the brand and condition the higher the price, But the max has been about $8 for practically new or new with tags, all other items gently used from $2-$5. They only sell the best used items.

Great selection of clothes, cribs, and big item toys (I dont care for little toys all around taking up lots of space). Prices better than 1/2 to 3/4 off original. Even good, not-wore-out, boys clothes! I know right? Whose boys didnt wear them out? Growth spurt most likely.

Love this baby/childrens store. We got our baby daughters all wood nursery furniture from here it was at an amazing price that we could afford! Love the shoes,books,toys, strollers, baby backpacks and clothes all at an affordable price. You can get a lot of big name brands from here. Got my sister in law an Ergobaby baby carrier for a quarter of the $$ for a new one.

Rude rude rude workers. They look like they would rather be dead than be there.Also be careful when picking out clothes and always have your little try em on. Holes/sweat stains/ fading/ pilling are common finds which is fine if the price matches. More and more often though Im finding it doesnt.Expect to spend a good amount of time looking thoroughly through everything to find the gems.Dont bother trying to sell. They will turn away brand new clothes. And if youre lucky maybe buy one or two percent of your stuff with seemingly no rhyme or reason for nothing. All while making you feel like the scum of the earth for being there.I wish corporate would step in and restaff the place.

Rude staff. Came in 10 minutes after I was told that my offer would be ready and one of the employees rudely asked me if I was waiting for an offer, then turned to one of the other workers and said she was tired of me standing at the counter, yet I was only there waiting to be acknowledged. I don’t think I’ll go back.

9/26/19 This place is a total wreck of a store. I brought 2 big laundry baskets full of nice, gently used, name brand clothes, no stains, no tears, not worn out or out of style. 2 Halloween costumes in the package, 1 still with the tags on it! They didnt take any of the clothes! However, they have plenty of clothes stained, very worn and old as hell on the racks. Once upon a child, what is your protocol for taking clothes? Its a waste of time to take care of the clothes and bring them in for resale.

Would give 0 if I could. Brought in a basket of girls clothes, most brand new and some still with tags, shoes worn once, and books. Wouldnt but 1 single item. Say they were not washed, which they were, and some items still had tags! Ive found things in this store with holes and lint balls from over washed. Too high of standards for a port charlotte location.

To start with, this store does not require masks and the employees do not wear them. I bought a Lincoln log set here and all the pieces were not included. When I contacted the store and asked them to help me with a refund, that I would bring it to their store and wait outside while they refunded my credit card, the manager refused, saying I had to physically be in the store. Deeply disappointed and dissatisfied with this branch of Once Upon a Child.

I’m not one to leave reviews really but I’ve never seen such rude staff members in a store before. Missy and whoever worked with her should never have been hired. After I collected what I wanted to buy they refused to acknowledge that I was standing at the counter so I simply asked “ do you want me to come to you to check out or here “ missy rudely said “ well I had no idea you were done “ probably because you and your coworker were standing and texting on your phones and even making phone calls while multiple people were in the store. The entire time I checked out she was nothing but snobby and rude, I’m definitely not going to once upon a child anymore.

I resale a lot of clothes here. It’s reasonable resale prices. Seriously how much money do you expect?! They have to resale it. You get more than a yard sale and it is easier than selling yourself. As far as buying, the prices seem high but the quality is good. Like any resale store, I look over everything myself. Best bet is getting on their email list or Facebook page and watch for sales.

Best and fun place to buy slightly used clothes from newborn to teens. Girls are friendlyand helpful. Love this store. Having my granddaughter and friends coming from Bradenton to shop tomorrow.

Prices are ok. Staff could have some training on how to treat customers. That stands for managers also!UPDATE: they must have done some training. The manager is better and some of the staff. I gave it one more star, as they did improve.

They were having an incredible clearance sale mix & match any clearance items 10 for $10. I was able to find such great baby clothes & toys. They can be a little stingy on the purchase amounts for used items when trying to sell them stuff.

Love this store! I go back and forth between the Naples store and the Port Charlotte store and they both have a great selection and friendly staff which always welcome you in the store. I have sold and bought many things and appreciate the quality they select. The staff carefully selects clothing and toys that arent too worn which makes the shopping experience better without having to sort through things.

Overpriced & overrated. The price of some of their used items, from bounce chairs to onesies, is too high and can be bought new for same price they offer. Theyll sell you items that dont work properly and then wont make the situation right. After spending hundreds of dollars here, theyll never see another penny of mine.

Great store to find clothes and children items in good shape. Some things are even new. They also buy children stuff from you ( which helps with the clutter cleaning and to clean closets with kids grow fast)

The staff is very nice and sweet girls never had any problem . However dropping off items they make you park in front of the store and go inside to get a staff member for help Im a stay at home mom I always have my baby with me so it makes it very difficult . They should have a play form dolly or a big cart for out side only if thats the problem. Make it easier and a more pleasant visit for mom and baby.

This place is infuriating! I do not recommended it and I will never go back!Today, we took 2 large totes and small one of barely used baby clothes, shoes, etc., (worn once, sometimes never at all!). I looked at clothes while there and was shocked to see sleepers with dirty feet! Seeing that, I thought for sure they would buy all of our stuff. We were given a strict pick up time, which, despite their poor attitudes, they missed. They bought barely anything, giving us a ticket citing that the clothes had basic staining and wearing (though they didnt take some things that were brand new, they sell clothes with dirty feet, and it is a consignment shop...). They also cited that the styles were not currently in demand, yet they were all less than 1 year old. Finally, they cited that there were missing pieces, which I have a major issue with, because they are VERY particular about having the clothes laid flat in bins, all sets together. When we got our stuff back, everything was thrown in the bins, and they had TAKEN PIECES OUT OF SETS! There were no missing pieces when it was dropped off, but there sure are now!This place is a great idea, but NOT worth the hassle!!

The have a big selection of everything children from infants to preteen I believe but they dont offer very much when they make a purchase. I would try to sell online first next time and see how that goes. Overall we got pennies on the dollar for our goods and saved probably $45 by purchasing uniforms from them so Im mostly satisfied. 3*** almost 4...

Horrible experience today. I brought in two bins of clothes and shoes that were barely worn. All brand names. Made me wait over 3 hours to tell me thay they would only buy a few and for only $21. But yet they overcharge the stuff they sell. And most of it is dirty or broken. Never going back.

I have been in Once Upon a Child many, many times and love this place! The clothes are priced decent (a shirt for typically $2.50-$3.50). Everything is always super clean and neatly color coordinated and organized on the racks. The toys are sometimes a bit pricy, but they always have good variety. Once in a while you can even find new items which is great for Christmas or birthdays!! They also have a great selection of DVDs and books. If you come in during clearance time that is the time to get the BEST deals! They also have very holiday themed items - you can find Christmas shirts, dresses around the holidays or Halloween costumes during fall. Yes, its true that they dont give you much money for selling and theyre very picky, but they do give you money on the spot for what they DO take. But, Im rating the store 5 stars for variety, price, helpfulness, and cleanliness. My daughter loves coming to the kids store to shop!

Just walked out the store. Bought a swim trunks for my son. Found one that would fit him. Some strings were coming off the logo, requested to take some off but the manager who was on her cell phone refused to do so. Guess they allow managers to be on their cell phones. They dont check their clothing well enough coz they are probably on their phones, if a customer picks up on your slack ( defect ) you not price the item at almost retail pricing. Will not be shopping here. Too pricey for used clothes.

They barely offer you anything for the items you bring in and throw everything back into the basket after they make it clear to have things freshly cleaned and folded. I have seen stained clothes and shoes that are beyond reselling in their isles but they seem to be so picky with my things. I was lied to today and told they give you 50% of what they sell your items for. Yet they gave me $5.40 for 6 items. I’m not sure I’ll go back after this. I only gave it two stars because they do have decent prices on some things. The staff is friendly.

Ive always had a good experence here. I try to go during sales but the prices are good either way. I get cloths and shoes at least once a month as kids grow quick and u can sell liggtly used stuff also. Lots with tags still on and ive never gotten anything with stains or broken

Bought a Grayco swing for our granddaughter who was visiting. It worked perfectly but when I went to sell it back two weeks later I was told the electric plug extension did not match the swing. It was the same one they sold me. When I said I did nothing to the unit, it was the exact one you sold me I was told that I must have changed chords. I simply do not have grayco chords laying around my home. I was treated rudely and more or less told I was lying. I will never go back.

DO NOT resell your items here. They make over %60 profit and will rip you off. Youre better off selling on the local buy and sell Facebook groups or craigslist. I brought a very new and nice black crib in that I paid $150 for, and they gave me $40 for it. Not one scratch on the entire thing. And they refused to offer more if I chose in store credit.In addition they made us put together the crib before even offering a price. We showed the instruction pamphlet that stated how many screws and what pieces were needed and that we had ALL of it to put it together if the price is right. Told us they wouldnt even look at it until it was put together. Im positive they do this because who will then spend another 20 minutes taking it apart to put back in their car. They know they are getting your item once you put it together for them. Therefore offering a lesser amount.There was a crib in worse condition in store and it was priced at $125, scratches and bite marks all over it. I know if I go in there in a few days my crib will be marked up near $100 or more. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. Take the small annoyance of having to sell it yourself online and save yourself the anguish of having to deal with these crooks.

Took so much time to wash and fold tons of brand new clothes. They only took 3 things and the rest was stuffed back in the bins. I think they stole some of my stuff. They were the ruddiest people that i have ever done business with.. My first time publicly writing a review because thats how bad it was. I will never buy from them again .

I love to buy my babies clothing here. But I dont understand their process of buying from you. I had bought a bunch of clothing from then in nb size but my baby came out wearing 1-3m size so I brought back the SAME clothing I had gotten there and NEVER used and they wouldnt except 40%of it saying it was in bad condition? Its the exact same things they sold me in the exact same condition, I never even took it out of the bag at home. Also I bought a playmat there and when I got home my grandma was red and itchy and sinuses closed and I later noticed the playmat was literally covered in black cat hair, I washed it and there are still small thick hairs in the giraffe part on the mat. I like once upon a child, but I think they need to straighten out how they buy and resell because Ive gotten clothes from them with large stains, animal hair, and stretched out clothes yet they wont accept to buy them back. Makes no sense. They definitely should make sure that the stuff they sell is free from pet hair
